Hi-Fi DAC - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hi all, I recently bought this phone and now I'm waiting to unlock it. before doing that though, I wanted to ask if custom roms (like evoX, or pixel experience) support using the hi-fi dac, or if its on by default, or if it's a kernel option.
Thanks!

BT Headphones compatible with Note 8 Exynoss

There are number of phones compatible with AptX/AptX HD (https://www.aptx.com) - any ideas if Note 8 Exynoss version is also AptX compatible?

Yes, I've got a Exynos SM-N950F and I just checked the logcat whilst connecting my AptX headphones. Various mentions of the aptx library are mentioned along with this:
Code:
[ 09-22 10:57:03.226 4364: 4928 D/CODEC_IF_MOD ]
codec_open: apt-x encoder initialized successfully
chhers mate!
Interesting. I never knew about this enhanced BT audio standard. So, you are saying that any BT audio device that supports this aptx will work fine with our new Note 8 phones?
Yes, it's not that new either. I bought AptX compatible stuff for my Note 3.
Is it normal with APTX to still get a huge BT delay when gaming ?
I have a Sennheiser HD1 wireless in-ear and im certain it supports APTX.
Question. It seems that BT 5.0 headphones choice is scarce. Where can I find set that ticks both boxes; aptx and 5.0 ?

What we want is APTX HD and LDAC codecs. Especially the LDAC.
Hopefully these will come with Oreo (in a year's time) but they should provide substantial improvements with compatible headphones. Up to 3 x the data bandwidth and 24bit/96K audio with LDAC.
I asked Samsung support about these codecs and their answer was that the Note 8 is NOT COMPATIBLE with modern bluetooth headphones.
Enjoy your 'flagship' phone

Note 9 audio

Does our note 9 has built-in DAC for improving music quality?

Not sure about a h/w chip, but there are plenty of s/w settings incl. Dolby Atmos and UHD upscaling.

All phones with a headphone jack have a DAC as it's required (DAC = Digital to Analog Converter). The DAC in the S9+ isn't the same as the ones LG is using in their high-end phones but it's not bad either. As mentioned, there are software adjustments as well.
The DAC in the Note 9 isn't that bad however it is not the same as the DAC found in other phones that are designed to have high sound quality.
what are the Note9 DAC specs?

Yes, it does (as all phone with 3.5mm jack). It also has AMP. The DACs in the US sd845 variant and the exynos 9810 variant are different tho and the exynos 9810 one is better. The only thing that this SOC is better compared to sd845.
The DAC used in the Note 9 is manufactured by Wolfson.
Wolfson was purchased by Cirrus Logic. Wolfson Make some of the most accomplished DAC's available. I am deliberately avoiding the term 'best' as its highly subjective and sound reproduction is personal taste.
I am able to assure the reader that Wolfson DAC's are highly sought after and industry respected. The Wolfson DAC is found only in the Note 9 with the Exynos chip though. Its is not part of the PCB as is the case in the SD variant.
Use an external amp or amp DAC combo and the Note 9 is a superb reproducer of sound.
Samsung have, with the 9 series of smart phones, at last reached top quality industry sound reproduction-sound stage requisites, took them long enough lol.

I answer too, even if this thread is quite old. I'm really impressed by the sound of my Note 9 exynos. I've plugged in a planar magnetic headphone (Verum one), which usually requires a powerful amp for driving, and I can get a very good volume. So sad that newer smartphones haven't the 3,5 jack anymore.

Those fascist NPCs, who tell us we don't need a headphone jack and we should accept the Brave New World, they will never understand!

upgrading (what phone are you upgrading to)

This is just a general question as I am going to upgrade from my p9 lite hopefully to the S10 plus when it is released was just wondering what other people are upgrading to ?
Lg v30. Beats all the phones in the market, even Oneplus in price category.
Performance is pretty neat and the camera is awesome. Has wireless charging, HI-FI dac and B&O earphones included. The bad stuff is that the OS is customised, not stock. LG has a bad reputation for delivering late updates, but hey! There are some custom roms on XDA.
Lg g6 is pretty good too ,but it has 821 compared to 835, it doesn't have wireless charging and Hi-Fi dac.
Moto x4, best bang for the buck and a lot of support on xda
I gave myself a OnePlus 6T and sold my P9 lite in perfect conditions and latest stock firmware to a friend.
Happy Holidays

Question What DAC does the Note Pro (Max) have?

As per the title. Or if anyone knows if the DAC is any good.
Couldn't find any info online.
The Redmi Note 10 Pro Global Version which I am having all the available Bluetooth codecs. It has AptX, aptx HD,aptx Adaptive, aptx tws+, LDAC and LHDC. It worked perfectly, tried LHDC on supported earbuds like Oppo Enco X it's good.

Question Spatial Audio?

Hi guys,
is the S23 already supporting Spatial Audio and if so, can we use headphones other than Samsung's?
Thanks!
