It's unlikely that you'll risk a brick - but I recall attempting on my Ryzen desktop and MiUnlock wouldn't have it. I switched to an Intel laptop and bam - first attempt.

How high is that risk? My pc never had any issues with fastboot, i even unlocked the bootloader on 2 xperia devices but i am curious about how will my xiaomi act after unlocking. Ps i dont have an intel build ?
btw
When my device is in fastboot and i write command: fastboot devices my k20 pro appears as 3bcfc839, and not as XXXXX like in other users who had issues with ryzen builds. My build never had any issues but if i will brick this phone, i will be literally dead :/ (its my new phone so)
I unlocked using a ryzen 5 laptop (asus tuf fx505dt)
I made a guide bit.do/raphaelguide (works for all computers)

So this is the tool for 32 bit systems. 64bit wip. But figured id share it to see if anyone wants to try when it comes available
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/root-tool-dirtycow-apk-adb-t3525120
This is not for the g4 nor is it garantied to work. But like i say new roots come out everyday. May be a start for anything above zv6.
This is for reading rite now again for 32 bit not 64 so if yall go trying it and brick. Its not my fault or the devs who posted the tool
Youve been warned!!!!!!
32bit is only for Lolllipop and G4 Lollipop is already rootable I believe.

buddy I believe your wrong theres a few threads and sites. what is is.
is that the system itself app xposed and everything g4 is actually 64 bit based running on top on a 32 bit arch for the hexcore setup to work its a 32 bit but if u ever flashed xposed or anything even on lolli its all 64 arch
so rite now the 32 bit tool will not work.
As far as I know you still will need an unlocked bootloader to get dirty cow to root a device. I have the LG v521 and the only reason it's able to be rooted is because you can unlock the bootloader. The other non t-mobile variants cannot root the same way because they can't unlock the bootloader.

no, not yet.
That's what took me so long to unlock mine. I finally just installed the unlock tool on my son's laptop to unlock. Even on their own forums there are constant requests for a Linux unlock tool but Xiaomi doesn't seem to care.
Is there a way to flash a rom with linux? Yes, the bootloader is unlocked but I don’t have a windows system at the moment.
Thanks!
Once the phone is unlocked you can use ADB in Linux.

No, and OnePlus seems to have no interest in updating its unlock token page since the 9 Pro. I have asked several times and no one in cust. service has any idea what's going on months after release of the NE2217.
I only bought the 10 Pro because I expected to be able to unlock the bootloader, as I did easily with the 8. At this point, I'm looking to sell the 10 Pro.
I upgraded from an unlocked 7 pro. I only got the T-Mobile version because they gave me too good of a deal to pass up. Honestly I'm pretty happy with it stock. There's not much you really need root for anymore unless you're developing. It was a big plus back in the day but not so much anymore.
Does anyone live in USA?, need favor.

it'll depend on when T-Mobile gives the ok. T-Mobile is subsidizing your phone so you need to play by their rules.

Honestly if a service provider is going to tamper with the device, just don't bother with them.
I'm in the UK but the crap I've seen people have with T-Mobile and Verizon is just insane, avoid them like the plague.
I think you'd be better off converting a Chinese phone and that's something I'd avoid more than sleeping on the opposite side of the bed to amber heard.
Go global, unless theres a fool proof way to make it to global.
EE in the UK did this on the Sony z1, I ended up bricking my device, so I sent it back via a third party retailer.
Original - EE.
Retailer - carphone warehouse.
They sent me an unlocked version, with a normal bootloader.
Not sure if that's an option for you. A little convaluted but certainly worked for me.

Hi all, I bought a used ROG2, received it by post and found out that bootloader was unlocked, and running WW Android 9 on a CN signature phone. Tried various times with ADB to flash another stockROM, failed because it doesn't seem to have fastboot. Looked up the manuals, and followed it to the letter, to lock bootloader, flash stockROM, and change signature of phone to WW..... This is the 12GB/1TB version, imported from somewhere in Asia. With ADB it sees the device and produces the code, fastboot didn't seem present.... In developers option the "unlock OEM" is NOT present.... Anyone any ideas?
Thank you in advance, brgrds Erik
You run fastboot mode, press Volume+ and then POWER 2-3sec
Hi Ircio36, to get into bootloader I knew already, but thank you. My problem is that no computer with 5 different cables is able to see the device in fastboot. Previous owner sold me the phone with unlocked bootloader, Android 9, software WW with phone signature CN. No way to get the bootloader unfortunately. Brgrds Erik

The computer sees fastboot mode on the left side Type-C port
Know that as well, together with not using the original Asus cable. Absolutely no luck with it, it's like fastboot doesn't exist
How to switch the phone to fastboot mode, the computer must see the phone. If it does not see then you have a damaged cable or old drivers on your computer

Thank you first of all for your support! Have used 5 cables, latest ADB and USB drivers for this phone, still no luck.....
do you want to have WW versions do you have CN? That's right?
