No, it will not as the Note has a 5-pin micro USB port whereas the Note 2 has an 11-pin port. I tried the Smart Dock tonight with my S3, which has the same port as the Note 2, and it didn't even work there.
I expect firmware update will fix it for the S3, since it has the same port, but I think the hardware difference will prevent this being an option for the original Note.

I recently purchased my first AT&T Galaxy Note 2 model SGH-1317. I've been wanting to hook it up to my LCD TV. I've done some searches for adapters and have come up with one on ebay: ATT SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 2 SGH-I317 MHL TO HDMI HDTV SMART ADAPTER EPL-3FHUBE OEM running $37.99. Any suggestions on alternatives that any would like to share. Thanks in advance!

Check out monoprice.com and type in 10020 in search bar. It's called MHL HDMI adapter for android phone. It works on my note 2 and only $10.39

I used to charge a J3 2016 with a Note 3 usb so it should work too.

The adapter is still Micro-USB so apart from the size of the S10 and different USB-C, can I get it to work together ?
There are no plans for bringing out a new Gear VR apparantly.

You need the 2017 Gear VR as it has interchangeable USB plugs. 2015 version has fixed micro USB plug and not adaptable to USB-C.
