Hi All,
Since my MI A2 received the Android 10 update last week everyone who calls me complains of an echo (hearing their own voice). If I call anyone there is no echo.
Also, my wifi speed is now less than half of what is used to be when running speed tests. If I test the wifi speed on other devices (including my wifes MI A2 still on Android 9) all devices are getting full wifi speed.
As I mentioned, these issues have only started since my phone updated to Android 10. Does anyone else have these issues but more importantly does anyone know of any solutions to fix these issues?
Thanks
Same here, echo cancellation seems to be disabled and it breaks the phone all together. Am thinking to do a full reset but want to see if an update is coming.
Am experiencing exactly the same issue. Anyone found a way to fix it?

Downloaded patch and wifi / 4g speeds are back to normal but callers are still hearing an echo when talking to me (normal phone). If I turn down the volume a few notches the echo is virtually gone but when the volume is down it can be hard to hear people

This should be similar to the way we unlock Cam2, right? ( run SU and setprop/resetprop on adb)
Should there be any problems with future OTAs? Would the values stick?
I run 'adb getprop' on my devices, and there are no set values for fluence etc
Code:
ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype
persist.audio.fluence.voicerec
persist.audio.fluence.speaker
use.voice.path.for.pcm.voip
all are missing. Is that a Android 10 thing, or a Xiaomi thing i wonder
First excuse my unfamiliar English.
I recently upgraded my MI A2 to android 10 and since then the interlocutor has a serious problem with the echo.
I solved this as follows:
Google> More> Settings> Voice> Voice Match> turn off "Hey Google" and "While driving" here.
Now I have no problems with the echo but it doesn't work Hey Google

Yes, it should be similar, except that this is a "ro" (read only) prop, and then you need to set by a script on /data/adb/post-fs-data.d/ path (or with a Magisk module) as this will reset on every reboot, an also you need to reboot to apply.
You get root privileges before you run the "adb getprop" command? These props are only visible with root.

My phone isn't rooted (waiting for a patch boot image) and can't check right now
But if the settings turn out to be disabled, it's a big shame ( rooting the phone just to get normal calls ..)

During calls other people hears my voice very low (i have to speak directly in the mic hole to make it clear), I exclude that it is a problem because of the microphone bulk, with the voice recorder it is perfect also speaking softly (it always use the microphone below). I exclude that it is problem of noise cancellation (s5 mini does not have this option) and in any case I tried to tap the microphone over near infrared and nothing changes. I exclude that it is a problem with the SIM card as if I use the speakerphone or headphones works perfect. G800F with stock kitkat. (no root, likes to keep warranty)
The phone is very new, already tried factory reset.
Any advice? Sorry for my bad english. thanks.

I understand ... actually i got the phone just a couple of days ago so i didn't make many calls. So i am not 100% sure that i have this problem too.
I know however that on water-proof phones the mics are somehow "protected" so they have worst audio mic performances that non-waterproof smartphone. I have also read online that some s5mini users solved their mic/audio problems by unistalling/freezing/disabling tha google "talk back" application. Maybe you can give it a try and see if it works.

That's for sure, my friend
For now i browsed the internet a bit and i found out 2 types of problems with the samsung galaxy s5's and s5 min's microphones. The first one is the low audio volume (the one you have) and the other one is the echo problem, i.e. the people you are calling do hear the echo of their own voices.
For now i just noticed that i have a kind of problem when using the phone call recording app i always used without problems ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr&hl=it ). When i play the audio file of a phone call, my side of the call is difficult to hear. I know for sure this happens when i hear the recorder audio file. But i don't know if this happens also in real time with the phone call. Could you please give the ACR app a try? And see how is the recorded phone call? Can you hear your voice in the recorder audio file?

Ok, i got it. I am new to android 4.4 (my previous smartphone had just 4.0) so i didn't know you caould also deactivate it. I used to freeze app with Titanium Backup on my old smartphone. I guess that deactivating it lead to the same result as freezing it with TB or unistalling it with TB.
Since you just deactivated it i can suppose you are also running full stcok android 4.4 unrooted?

So you are getting the same result as me. Did you try recording a phone call with the backcover of the phone removed? If so, how is your voice in the recorderd audio file? Does it get any better?
Hello,
I have a mini s5, I noticed that whoever calls me hear an annoying echo of his voice, I did already several SIM change evidence, the only way to eliminate echo is remove the back cover.
Should I apply for assistance, or is there a way to disable the upper microphone near the speaker?

I did this try myself and ... the result was no better. My voice is always very low ....
I also did another try with the earphone plugged into the 3,5 jack and ... the result was great! In the recorder audio file of the phone call i can totally hear my voice, loud and clear!! And i did this with two phone call recording apps:
ACR: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nll.acr
AutoCallRecorder: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.romang.callrecorder&feature=order_history
I will go on and try other phone call recording app, but i don't think this will get any better. I think this is really a problem with the 2 build.in microphones. Now it's hard to say if it is an hardware issue or a software/firmware issue. I am runnung 4.4 .... if someone running full stock lollipop could please give it a try and let us know. Maybe witha new OS release the mics behaves differently ...
Relased yesterday ufficial 5.1.1 lollipop for italian G800F ! installed today and the volume of the microphone is improved, now I would say that it is acceptable...although with other phone it's still better.
I think you should try to update too mr. "Night on the web"

Ciao, italiano anche tu?
Well, i updated my s5 mini 2 days ago (cause i have a slovakia phone, and the update came out last week) and i too have noticed some improvements. I though that it was just a placebo effect, but now that i hear the same impression from another user too, i think that something has changed. Maybe samsung re-wrote the drivers for the new android version and they came out to be better? Who knows ...
I also tried to record a couple of phone calls with the previous mentioned app ACR and the volume of my voice is pretty equal to that of the people i am talking too. Before, when i was on kitkat, the volume level of my voice was really really looooow. Now i can get really good audio files.
I am not sure if the firmware upgrade also solved the "echo" issue (which is totally different from the issue i had). Can someone give it a try?

Well, in ACR i have set the same settings i had in my previous smartphone:
1) settings --> general --> the second option (which is notification; display a notification if ACR is turned on) deactivated. [but you can try to turn it on if it gets better]
2) setting --> recording --> audiosource --> MIC (usually, after installation, the default setting is automatic)
3) setting --> recording --> percorso audio --> automatic
4) setting --> recording --> formato di regsitrazione --> 3GP
When i was running kitkat i noticed that changing the setting number 2 did have some effects on the volume of the voices in the regsitration. If my settings don't solve your problem, you can try and change only that one. I remember that the "voice uplink" was a good audiosource to get better results. Give it a try.
PS. I have also de-activated the "supress noise" function in the pre-installed samsung voice recording app. This shouldn't intefere with the in-call recording but ... it might.

That is good news! :good:
I have tried to access a setting menu for mic volume gain but i had no luck.
I tried several key-combination (from the dialer) but some were uneffective on this specific device and others didn't led to mic volume gain.
Actually i am starting to think that, without root, it is not possible to access such feature.
By the way, while i was on kitkat, i noticed that with another voice recording app, i was getting better results. It is this app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643
Since i was getting better results on kitakat, maybe you can get also better results on lollipop. You can try the two trial apks posted in the first post of the thread. With this app, i used audio "source-->audio uplink" and i was getting better results than with ACR.
So ok first off, i really do love this phone. I got it for the camera and for content creation and its great for it...
I had a Redmi note 4 before, and for a couple of years Ive been using a firewall since reading about a lot of chinese phones sending large amounts of data to china.
Now yes my old phone did phone home A LOT. So thats why i installed noroot firewall to keep an eye on things.
And literally every service phoned home. Many services that have no right connecting to the internet.
Now come 10t, i read that because this is an offical EU phone with EU rom and not a grey import, it should be following all the EU rules on data collection... So basically turn everything off it shouldnt contact home.
Trouble is..... even though I have turned most of the things off (outside updating service) many of the apps still phone home... Analytics, MSA DOWNLOADs, file explorer, mi remote, compass, clock security.... and other framework services. All phoning home to servers in china.
Ive not really done a deep dive into exactly what service is sending what data. But Why would downloads connect to a chinese IP every time i download something off the app store.... Or open Chrome?
Well using firewall now to keep things locked down.
Has anyone else seen this kind of activity on EU phones? Is anyone making a clean rom that remove this kind of sus activity?

Don't know about 5ghz, I haven't have any issues with 5ghz. It's fixed in the latest version? At least it says so in the notes.
Auto rotation works fine for me. Have't noticed the issue with screen not waking up during incoming calls but I rarely receive or make calls.
I only used my bluetooth in ear for listening to music, not for calls but I se someone wrote it can be fixed by lowering volume a bit.
Lineage recovery bootloops if you flash it to recovery but if you fastboot boot the img it will boot fine every time.

That's all workarounds, that's why I say these are not minor bugs. I had all of those problems. I had 5ghz problem because my wifi router was set to a channel lineage couldn't read. Lowering volume, and turning bluetooth on/off couldn't fix it for me, only restart worked. Auto rotation and blank screen during calls were also my problems. Well to end offtopic, I'll wait for stable pe or similar rom before switching from global rom. I have pihole set up as blocking firewall at home so it helps a ton with phoning home...
ive also tried using noroot firewall, which worked fine on my old phone. but no matter the battery saver settings, it keeps getting shut down by the phone... So thats not secure.

Hi,
I'm having a lot of pain with my POCO X3 and Android Auto hope to find help here...
1. I need to connect my phone twice in order to connect to AA. I need to disconnect it twice from my car multimedia port side, if I unplug it from my phone side (USB-C) it takes more than 2 times to connect to AA.
2. After a phone call any audio (Spotify, streaming radio, other phone call) is routed to my phone speaker, I need to disconnect and connect my phone (twice) to solve it.
3. GPS signal is with a delay
4. Incoming call - it takes forever to show the call information (who's calling me).
5. Selecting apps via AA, very slow response time, even in app, for example I'm trying to add a report via Waze it's almost impossible, trying to make a phone call while using Waze.
I'm getting the same results in 2 different cars, I've tried different cables... I don't use Dual apps which I know is making trouble with AA.
I've tried Apple Carplay and it's working very well and very smooth.
Hope you guys will be able to help me..

For those of us having issues with sound redirection after a phone call, are you rooted? I ask because I'm trying to narrow down the route to a possible solution. If we are rooted, it becomes easier. I'm not worried about using 3rd party ROMs because I had this issue on stock.
I'm rooted
Seems it is not issue on POCO only. I have the same sound redirection with Mi11, stock global rom, not rooted. Bootloader is not unlocked yet, so once done, I am planning to flash xiaomi.eu rom as it seems the issue is fixed there.

Hi, yesterday I installed the 12.5.9 eu version, confirm that the problem of the sound that is passed to the mobile after a call, continues to occur.
Today I installed version 21.6.30 as commented by the colleague and they have effectively solved the problem of the sound that jumped to the phone after a call.
Great!
Recently, I'm facing problems with my Mi 11 device. People who are calling me complaining that they are getting their own voice back through their phones while calling me. I tried updating my device but it didn't help me. I'm hoping for some solution here. Thank you. Cheers.
I faced the same problem too. You can google and there are some solutions that work - disable google voice recognition etc.
Unfortunately, none of the solution work for me and I have sent my phone back to xiaomi for diagnostic. (still waiting for my phone to be back)

Same here, I tried disabling voice recognition as well, but it is still the same.
You can try using a small masking tape to cover the top microphone. - it works for me. But becareful not to block the proximity sensor.
Don't bother to try any other methods like factory reset or any settings. I have tried and it doesnt work. Anyway, this issue is not unique only to Mi 11 but all other phones as well. (other brands included)
Welcome to Xiaomi Mi 11 trouble family, I have echo problem plus wifi problem also out of guarantee and no solution for months.
May be the only solution is:
- Put in the bin and continue your life

Flashed a custom rom but still having the same issue. It's definietly a hardware problem.
Just got my first Xiaomi device and really enjoying it, however Wi-Fi calling (on EE in the UK) disconnects every 50 minutes without fail (call with drop). I can watch in realtime the VPN connection on port 4500 in my router diagnostics and see it strike up a new connection a few seconds after 50 minutes.
I think this may be to do with the carrier settings being incorrect. Under IwlanSettings there is a esp_timeout setting (from another device that works on EE fine) which is set to 3000 seconds = 50 minutes. I think the esp_timeout on the Xiaomi may be set to a higher value, typically the esp is refreshed around 90 seconds before the end of the timeout. I assume the operator times out at 3000 because my end hasn't refreshed it as it is thinking it has more time.
To test this theory, how can I edit these settings. On another device there is a Iwlansetting widget I can add via Nova, but this doesn't exist on the Xiaomi. Can I change these settings via adb?
What is the best way to feed this back to Xiaomi?
Thanks for any help or pointers.
Had an update to 12.5.16 this morning and the bug is still there, with Wi-Fi calling on EE dropping every 50 minutes exactly.
I've sent logs and feed back using the app on the phone, no response almost a month later. Do they even look at that feedback?
My first go with an Xiaomi device, they might be good value devices and well built, but the aftersales support seems non-existent.

From what region/country have you got the update? I haven't got it yet. Sorry for off topic.

England using the EEA ROM that came with it (RKDEUXM). They tend to stagger updates so we may not all get the update at the same time. Typically no useful release notes, so no idea what has been fixed, and I see no differences except for the System Updater now being white when it should be a black background (as dark mode is on). So no fix for a fundamental issue of calls dropping, but I found a UI bug almost immediately, so this is Xiaomi supporting their devices, doesn't bode well.
It reports it has Android security update 2021-11-01
Thanks for the answer and information

Not something I've ever needed so not entirely sure, but I don't think so as it just uses the standard Google Phone app and no options in that for call recording that I can see.

There is NO call recording on EEA. Install this instead stock dialer and you will have call recording:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hb.dialer.free
Bug also present on the latest version 12.5.20 RKDEUXM just released today. No response to feedback sent.
Support from Xiaomi is non-existent.
