Try to use an other version of Twrp, try to flash it many times with fastboot, or just use the boot command instead of the flash one. This happened to me some weeks ago and I solved somehow.

I can boot PitchBlack
But after flash it stock on bootloop
BUT I successfully flashed Havoc-OS-v2.4-20190403-wayne-Official Pie
It seems I can just flash Pie versions!

I am on EU 9.3.21 MIUI 10 right now, and it offers 9.3.28
Is it safe to update it by phone itself? (Already ARB 4 triggered )
Try too wipe dalvik, cache, data, internal then flash havoc

It constantly fails on downloading! I found a link : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=1395089523397928062
and I am going to flash it via PitchBlack, do you think it is SAFE?

It'safe, ARB 4 means that you can't downgrade from MIUI 10 to Miui 9 for example, But you can still flash custom roms or Miui based rom.

Downgrade

Hello friends.
Device: Mi A2 converted to Mi6X with ARB 4 and unlocked bootloader
Custom Recovery: Pitch Black Recovery
Current system: Pixel Experience CAF 9.0 PIE
Question: Can I go back to any Oreo Rom?
I've tried to install Havoc 8.1 but the system don't boot, I get stuck on Fastboot screen.
Is there any way to install an custom Rom Oreo based?
Thank you guys.

by default, pitchblack recovery format data partition as F2FS.
fyi, not every each kernel and recovery support F2FS by default.
try change your data file system to ext4 first with pitchblack before you switch to twrp.

Do you know what ARB stands for? Antirollback, meaning if you upgraded to Pie you can ONLY install Pie roms. You cannot circumvent ARB.

GSI ROMS?

Hello everyone!
Someone knows how to install GSI ROMS (Project Treble Forum) in our XZ1 Compact?
Your bootloader must be unlocked.
You must enter fastboot on your phone.
If you want to flash an Android 9.0 GSI be sure that you are on Android 9.0 stock rom, if you want to flash an Android 8.0 based GSI be on stock OREO rom.
Android 10 GSI won´t work on our phone.
type in: fastboot.exe flash system YourNameofGSI.img
fastboot.exe reboot
That`s it. I tried it with phh´s treble AOSP 9.0 GSI. Works fine.

SkyHigh is correct. Just make sure you're on stock rom then enter fastboot mode and flash the GSI to system and reboot.
I'm using /e/ Pie and it works great.

Thanks for reply. Do you tried install GSI ROM using TWRP?
Yes, you can do. Just switch from ZIP to Image and put it to system partition. It works the same way.
Can Android 13 GSI ROMs work on this phone?

The ARB is especially for stock roms, you must format the data to go from A12 to A11.
You can also flash an A11 firmware before installing the rom.

I assume your device codename is FOG.
Rom recovery or firmware to flash with TWRP.
TWRP
wipe/format data type yes
reboot twrp
Then flash rom or firmware A11
reboot twrp
wipe/format data type yes
reboot twrp
flash rom
