Only today i started getting ads popping up but as i have a private dns blocking the ads. The ads are popping up as blanks.
There is no option to disable ads as advised on other threads.
Try to use blokada app!
It turns out I had a rogue app that caused it, upon deleting the app all is sorted.

Need a good sms recommendation that doesn't have advertising. Like to block sms spam. Just started getting text spam Handcent has ads in the setup, which are annoying. Would rather purchase a good app.
Pretty sure you can purchase handcent, which would get rid of the ads....or you could just buy chompsms thats a really good sms app after handcent

handcent only has ads in the configuration screen. u are only in there like once in a very long while. you can install adfree which blocks ads from all apps. or like the poster above mentioned, you can purchase the donate versions that will remove the ads.
there are really not other good sms apps out there. only chomp, handcent, and default.
After the latest 8.2 update, my Facebook messenger keeps deactivating chat heads over apps, every other day.
I can turn it on, and it works for 1-2 days, and then it happened again..
Any solutions for a permanent fix?
One option might be moving messenger over and making it a system app. Usually the fix is enabling "Display Pop Up Window" in the permissions for Messenger.
It's already enabled in messenger, but it keeps removing it every other day? :/

There's a difference between turning on chat heads in messenger and enabling the permission. Are you currently only turning it on in Messenger?
When I turn it on in messenger it takes me to the permissions, where I enable it. After 1-2 days it automatically disable itself.
It actually does the same with Google calender permission. Really annoying, I don't know a permanent fix for it.
Found it.
Just go to security( Its a system app) --permission--other permission-- messenger-- Accept on display pop up window ??
Whatsapp autostarts in background whenever I turn on wifi even if I did force stop before
How should I prevent it without root?
Thanks!
Has anyone else been having issues with apps stopping on their XZ1C? I've been having trouble with Google Photos and Google Connectivity Services stopping a lot. I've tried the cache clearing and data clearing tricks as well as uninstalling and reinstalling Connectivity Services, but I routinely get the notification pop-up telling me one or the other has stopped or keeps stopping.
Photos seems to be stopping most when I use the app and especially when I try to share a photo via text or email from Photos itself. I don't have an issue if I send a MMS from Messenger.
Google Connectivity Services seems to stop the most when I use the GPS and am on LTE. It does occasionally stop when on WiFi or if going between WiFi and LTE. I question the benefits of even having that app if it stops more than anything. Perhaps it's just an issue with Oreo? I never had issues with apps stopping with my Pixel, but that was running Nougat.
Thanks.
Instagram does crash to me very often. I think they didn't optimized the app very well for Android 8
Edit. War robots just crashed too
I see it time to time too

My Google Photos app started behaving the same way immediately after I shared an album by way of SMS.
I cleared the cache, but that did not work. I reinstalled the app and the crashing stopped, but it has crashed once more the following day, but only one time.
How do you uninstall a core app like Photos? When I tap and hold, it does not give me to ability to uninstall it.
J-san, to the best of my knowledge you can't uninstall it, however if you long press on the app icon, and select App Info, you should be able to disable it. This will uninstall any updates to the app that have occurred since the phone was new.
Thanks much! I'll give that a try.
Nice, I thought I was the only one.
Hello,
I have a OnePlus 10 pro running OOS 12. I use Google's "Messages for web" in my browser and that requires that the Messages app run in the background on my phone. I've configured it to do so and I'm happily using the web messages browser functionality, but I keep getting the annoying "Messages is draining battery" notification on my phone. I've configured it in "Battery optimization" to "not optimize" but I continue to get these annoying messages.
Has anyone figured out how to disable these messages? I've looked around and there appear to be a lot of folks asking this question, perhaps for other apps, but there don't appear to be any answers.
Thanks for any help.
