Hey guys, is there any mod to increase video quality, 4k 30fps and 60fps have same low bitrate it's only 42mbps, Even my old LG G4 had 4k 30fps 48mbps quality and with v10 camera app it could do 64mbps no problem. What the problem with xiaomi ? low bitrate on audio aswell. Ive seen mod to increase that, but what about video quality ?
Does the quality appear very poor?
I thought the video quality would be variable.
Gcam on Android 9 can record at 100Mbps (is too much visible). If you are in Android 10 like me, we are fuccked.

Why? Was it locked by Google in the system?

According to this:
http://hispeedcams.com/lenovo-zuk-z2-pro-will-have-960fps-video-confirmed/
ZUK Z2 Pro should be capable of recording video at 960 FPS.
It is probably achieved through interpolation or something, or not at all (see Mediatek and their "[email protected] FPS").
Anyway, when you guys get hands on ZUK Z2 Pro, share your impressions and what the camera is really capable of.

Yeah it is on official site, there is 960 fps but unfortunately resolution is not mentioned.
Something is written in chinese forum that 960fps is not supported yet because there is no ZUI 2.0 yet.
So we will have to wait a little for a review.
hello everybody, as a student very intersted i made a little calcul. The snapdragon 820 is able to encode 4k video at 30fps, ie 8.29 Mega pixel at 30fps. So the sd 820 encode 248 Mpixels per seconds. So at 960fps, it means that you get about an image of 0.25 Mpixel, which is roughly a 480*640 pic. Not bad. However if some Mediatek CPU encode at 1080p 480 fps, and if the sd820 is considered better, then he can encode more than 2.09*480 Mpixel per seconds, which match 720p at 960fps. hoping for some other resolution/fps solutions from ZUI 2.0. But if there is no breaktrough for the camera then 960fps is impossible to reach( this far this speed is only achieved by pro cameras which cost thousands), meaning it's a false rumor launch by zuk for marketing aims. Wait for the reviews is my last advice. tchao
SD 801 was capable of [email protected] FPS already (h264).
SD820 is capable of 28 MPx/s (4K is 8MPx) , so theoretically, it is capable of much more than just what you mentioned. [email protected] FPS is only HEVC bottleneck.
https://www.qualcomm.com/media/documents/files/snapdragon-820-processor-product-brief.pdf
MTK claimed their SoC is capable of [email protected] with the use of a Sony's sensor which didn't even have that capability in it's datasheet.
And honestly, it's been a long time since they announced that and have you seen it ever come true?
The only mobile camera sensor capable of very high FPS up to this moment was Toshiba's T4K82 with [email protected] FPS, [email protected] fps and [email protected]
http://www.androidauthority.com/toshiba-240fps-t4k82-sensor-596203/&ved=0ahUKEwjDx_zy4f3MAhUFORQKHXP1BisQFggcMAA&usg=AFQjCNHi7pL_vdS6wb7F9fnUwtST4ip4IA&sig2=nTEBpX31ZuZS2WzWgj5VAQ
But it never appeared in a phone (or any device really), guess it was not as good as they claimed it to be...
OmniVision's OV13870 is capable of up to [email protected] through cropping and binning. However I have a feeling that they are actually the only one to be honest and admit it is not REAL 1080p. Because every slow-motion recorded with a phone I saw was like of a lower resolution then the file captained to be of. (720p looked like 360p, etc)
In my opinion, 960 FPS video recording is not possible with the mobile camera sensors which are currently at the market... Besides, iPhone always seems to come first with better slow-motion (they introduced 240FPS with a Sony sensor and nobody was able to compete woth that for more than half a year). They haven't even introduced 480FPS yet and somebody claims to have achieved 960 fps? I consoder that highly unlikely.
That is why I am looking for what comes out of ZUK Z2... If it really is a 'scam', then I say that they (ZUK and Lenovo) need to be punished...
Even if they come up with something ugly like frame interpolation.
First samples regarding the slow-motion video recording:
http://www.gizchina.com/2016/06/08/weekend-zuk-z2-pro/
So now it is confirmed - it does not record at 960 FPS. It does not even record at 240 FPS.
It records at only 120 FPS ! 720p is the resolution.. but honestly, it does not even look like 720p... more like 576p.
And the player allows you to set the playback speed... so for 960 FPS they basically play one frame 8 times....
Pretty disappointing...
I wonder if those specs are true. Seems underwhelming to me if those specs were to be true.
Currently I use a Xiaomi Mi5s which (after a mod) shoots FullHD at 60fps. I expected a nex gen phone to have at least 4k 60fps.
Anyway, I know it is way to soon to know for sure, but does anyone have some hopes to mod the Mi8\SE the way to make it shoot at 60fps in 4k?
Thanks for any ideas.
PS: Is it true the Mi8\SE doesnt feature optical stabilization?
What you expect for a 240€ device? OIS with 4K @60fps? The Mi8 SE is nothing in compare to the Mi8. Forget UFS, OIS, dual GPS and so on.

I was asking if the MI8 had 4k 60fps or optical stabilization (maybe with the option to lower the frames to film 4k 30 to still have optical stabilization).
So, I rephrase my question:
1. Does the Mi8 have 4k 60fps? Some sites say yes, some say 4k 30fps.
2. Does the Mi8 have Optical Stabilization at all?
3. Does the Mi8 SE have the same camera/video specs (e.g. optical stabilization, etc.)?
I already own my Mi5s which can shoot 4k at 30fps.... -_-

The problem with 4k @60fps is you can just record few min. and the device get super hot.

But other devices can do it. Sure they cost a bit more, but that's what Mi-Devices are known for...to be outstanding. Oh well...have to wait for Mi9 or something...
I wonder if those 60fps can be unlocked somehow...i guess we have to wait for the xda devs to check out the device when released.
PS: Wait, FullHD at 30fps on the Mi8? That's a joke right?
The S845 support [email protected] and for sure you will get this option, maybe directly from Xiaomi.

You should be able to do it. Either by modifying just the media profile of the device or by modding the camera sensor libraries. However, modding libraries isn't an easy task but it's technically possible to do so if the sensor has the capabilities. If the device has a good and skilled developer community then someone will do it eventually. Also FYI, OP6 is the only new Android phone that can record at 4K on a stable 60 FPS and that's also with a 5 minute limitation. You're expecting too much bud.
Mi 8 - [email protected], OIS

Mi 8 SE - [email protected], no OIS only EIS

Thanks for replying. Yes, there are 2 websites online who proclaim Mi8 SE having 4k 60fps, but 95% of the web/youtube reviews say it has only 30fps. That's why I was asking, because some websites either don't know about their topic or are blatantly lying.
Does anyone know if the SE (now that the source code has been released) could be modded for 4k 60fps?

60fps recording support is only added on the latest miui10 for some devices, i think we will have to wait a bit more for updated reviews. I'm more interested in the gps for the mi 8SE since it's now selling in my country for a little bit more than the price of mi 6x.
It`s a little shame that phone made in 2018 can`t record 4k 60fps while my old S4+ with SnapDragon 800 (GT-i9506) from sept 2013 can record 4k 30 fps and 4k 20 fps also with default camera app. I ordered Mi 8 from China and phone should be here in few days.
why did u buy it?

Yeah I meant for prolonged amount of times the way you can with 1080p, I think some OEM's think it isn't worth stressing the CPU out just for 3-5 mins of 4k footage
How about Zenfone 5z? Unlimited time 4k 60fps footage?
Have you tried opencamera app ?
I personally don't care about [email protected] however, we should have [email protected]
Any news about it with MIUI 10 ? The hardware should support it. :|
I am on chines developer rom and i have FHD 120 fps mode.
But for 4k it has only 30 fps so far.

How do you like it?
When I try to record a video (with the stock app) ONLY in 1080p 60fps the video is pixelated, especially when I zoom in.
The phone is brand new.
I dont know if this is a bug and it will be fixed by a future update OR the stock camera app has this bug....
Does anyone else have this problem?
Everyone have this problem. 1080p60fps is not good at all on mi a2, looks like xiaomi tried to put 60fps in the same bitrate as 30fps, so we have not so good quality. When you enable camers2api in every other app than stock, 1080p looks like max zoomed in picture..
Maybe with pie update we can expect some improvement...

Yes, I hope with Pie will be fixed. Its not a major problem though... I use 4K 30fps for my recordings....
OpenCamera is the best option for 4k video recording. But loses this resolution if you enable camera2api
Is there a way to enable recording of 240 FPS slow-mo? I really do not mind the video being at quality of 720p, If the phone is capable of 1080p @240, I do not see a reason why it would not handle higher framerate at 720p.
where did you find info that it could handle 240 fps? i thought it was more like 60 (or 120 for 720p max)? don't get me wrong, i would like to see that, but imo this is out of A2's reach.

It records video in 1080p at 60fps or 720p at 120fps.
The 660 chipset on the Mi A2 IS capable of 240FPS @ 720P.
The limiting factors here would be either A.) the camera modules or B.) software implementation.
So, in theory, yes but further testing/research would have to go into determining the possibility.
This would best be a question for Xiaomi support:
https://www.mi.com/global/support/contact/
Good luck!
and C) the willingness of Xiaomi of course
^^^ Absolutely this. LOL.
Even Mi 8 lite has 240FPS @720p, it uses the same CPU, so it is a software matter, so there should be a way to enable it.
@ond96
And you're likely right but, as of now, no one on XDA has volunteered to implement such a change.
Please contact Xiaomi and inquire further with them.
Got my S10+ and I see that it has HDR+ option and HEVC. HDR+ should be better in any case but what about HEVC ?
Is there visible quality difference when you record in HEVC format ? In size it does have difference but also it disables HDR+ option.
Thanks
One more thing, did I got it right that HDR+ videos can be viewed only on HDR devices ????
I thought it will appear like normal video on laptop or other phone and TV ? So normal video wothout any HDR effects. Then I must turn it off if that is the case.
Anyone ? Is xda dead ?

I haven't played with HEVC, but I do know that Apple has this option to and can capture in this format. Basically it should be an upgrade to the older format(H.264/MP4) and should provide better compression and support for 8K too
Also for HDR you normally need HDR supported display. For example my Surface Pro 6 can play HDR videos from YouTube and other streaming services. Otherwise HDR videos will play normally on other displays/devices

There is no difference in quality. HEVC is smaller in size and doesn't run on all devices compatible with x.264

HEVC stands for High efficiency Video Codec. It is nothing more than a compression format. It does nothing for video quality
