I'm not sure if my 2 month old Note has had the following problem since day 1 but it's been doing if for a long time now.
The problem is there with a stock standard rom and any of the other custom roms and kernels that I've tried. I'm currently using Rocketrom with Speedmod kernel. I've also used Checkrom and Abyssnote kernel.
If the Note had been asleep for about 15 minutes or more when I wake it up then try to do anything like opening an app, closing an app that's already open etc there's a 2 to 3 second lag the first time I try to do anything. Everything is then normal until the next time that the Note has been asleep then it's the same story again.
Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on here? I'm starting to think that it's hardware related, but apart from this problem the Note functions perfectly normally.
Also, if I have a CPU monitor installed, like URsafe CPU Monitor, when the lag is happening the monitor shows that the CPU is working hard.
Help please!!!!!
Does this happen after a complete hard reset with no apps installed?
Does this happen on Stock ROM?
Are you using WiFi?
Sounds like WiFi is sleeping when the screen is off, and either it is trying to connect and/or some app is wildly trying to connect using it.
Try seePU++ can tell you what the most active app is, but IIRC you have to pay for that that feature. There may be others.

Yes, it happens on stock rom with no apps installed. I'm not totally sure what you mean by a complete hard reset. Can you please tell me how I do that? I'm willing to try anything to get rid of this problem.

The problem still happens with WiFi disabled. On top of that it doesn't matter how long I leave it after I wake the phone up till I try to do something like launching an app. The problem is still there the first time I do anything with the phone.
I have rocket rom and sometimes when I turn on the screen the screen wont work. The physical buttons work but the screen is wont respond to touch.
Turning on and off the screen fixes this.
Very annoying.
Makes me appreciate Apple more.

Do a clean stock ROM with no root or anything.
Do a factory reset and erase your USB storage as well (i.e., tick the option when you're factory resetting).
Remove your microSD card.
Now, does the problem still occur? If it does, get your phone exchanged/repaired. It sounds like a hardware problem.
What you are experiencing is perfectly normal.
I'm getting the exact same issue. When the phone is not used for a long period of time, is then unlocked, opening contacts, sms or the menu takes a good 2-3 seconds.
It's really annoying and it's a delay when 'waking up' the phone.
Supposedly this issue should be fixed with Ice Cream Sandwich, so be patient and this bug should soon be gone...

Really? I haven't noticed this at all on my phone. Any specific apps I can test this on?

Just not getting that myself. I am not terribly patient, and generally the most I have to wait is a second for an app to respond after waking the phone, and that is not often.
Stock unrooted HK version, never seen anything like that delay, mine works instantly on waking

Same delay here. Stock ROM, and rooted.

I dare say this is not normal, the only time there is a delay in opening the dialer/contacts application is when you initially boot the device and have both of those running for the first time subsequent runs have no delay what so ever on my end ( when i still had the note )

If this is normal it's incredibly bad that Samsung would design something like this. The wake up lag is bad enough let alone this. Can't see how it can be normal though. My SGS2 didn't have it and some other users aren't seeing it. I think I'll hang out for ICS and see if it goes away before I take any further action.
Strange issue, seems it occurs for some but not all...
Once again, I unlocked the screen after 2 hours of no use, when pressing contacts, there was a 2 second delay and when attempting to call someone there was a good 2-3 decond delay...

Despite being my first Android device I have come to accept that this is normal for this OS.
Unfortunately I have become a big whiner on this forum because of this same issue.
The day before yesterday there was an update on the kies ,LA4,after updating it felt a bit faster overall but the wake up and the incredibly annoying Contacts lag is still there.
I myself am not any particular OS follower or a fanboy of any certain brand for that matter.
So I'm stuck with Android for the time being, since I don't like both iTunes and izunes dependency, besides no big screens there.
However I suspect that this is an Android thing, as far as I know Android is based on Java and Java is known to be laggy,so until a very powerful CPU is available for mobiles, for me its either live with it or Leave it !! and since there is no alternative for now will wait and see how good ICS does and decide accordingly.
I'm on stock ROM and unrooted.
The Note seems to do this once or twice but when a program/app has been opened once it usually reopens them instantly.
This morning when turning on my Note for the first time, there was a few second delay when attempting to call someone, another delay when opening contacts and another slight delay when viewing sms messages.
However, the second time I attempy to open something it's usually immediately.
There should not be ANY delay when opening programs/apps and Ice Cream Sandwich should fix this wake up issue which some users such as myself am experiencing.
It's a shame, really since I'm getting no other lag/delay. The phone is super fast in every possible way, only sometimes it's a little slow at waking up!!
Hi,
After the recent update my touch screen has become slow. Sometimes I have to touch it twice in order for it realize the word or app.
Is this a bug with the new update? Is anyone having this problem?
Thanks!

My wife's phone is exactly the same, very slow to respond and even turn on? Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve (apart from wiping - she would go mad!)
Thanks in advance

Hey!
I'm really fed up with this phone. I'm personally never buying Sony phones ever again.
However I think you have to wipe the phone through Sony PC software. After that it works just fine.
Do you by chance get fluctuating reception?
I bought this phone few days ago
And I found that when use Chrome to browser the forum, horizontal black lines suddenly flashed out on the screen and then disappear
The size, number and frequency is random
It also happens in homescreen
Is it hardware problem?
I have installed the Adguard with VPN which runs in the background all the time
Seems to be better if I close it
And I hear noise like "si..se..." if I use earphone, especially in low volume
Is it normal?
Sorry for so many questions
Thank you

Have you tried a reset without restoring your google account?
Try that, if it doesnt do it then it's likely software caused by one of your apps, if not then it's the phone.

Yes, it happens sometimes
But touch still works
I wonder whether some users face the same problem like me
Has anyone had an issue when charging their phone?
Mine turns off when I charge a few minutes. Started when I upgrade to Android 10. It still persists when I tried downgrading to Android 9.
UPDATE:
Seems like others are having the same issue. Phone overheats when using the 18w or 30w charger.
https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/18048/asus-rog-phone-2-android-10-issues
Haven't found any fix on this yet.
Me too!!!!!! SAME ISSUE
hope someone can find fix...
My phone shuts down when
*90hz or 120hz is turned on
*When playing a game
*When charged using 18w and above
*When X mode is turned on
And when it dies, it will take so many attempts before it will turn back on...
Now, im only using my Gaming phone for
Netflix, Youtube, and Facebook mainly..
Bruh it's 2021 already and I'm still having this issue, there's still no solution for this? It's so annoying, at first my phone shuts down while I'm charging it and opening apps that was okay for me, but now it starts shutting down while I'm playing games and it's so annoying, someone please help!

Try to install the cpu mod
my phone has this issue too. It's a hardware fault. properly will happen to everyone eventually. the cause properly from heat issue.
It's a common problem for ROG2 and will happen more often. usually, you can fix it by change IC or new motherboard which requires both skills and tools, or just buy a part and find some mobile service to fix them for you.
But the problem still exists even you replace the part it will happen again after years or two depending on how do you use your phone.
Set 60hz both phone and in game, everything back to normal.
90hz and 120hz makes everything crash.
Edited:
It is fix for blackout while in game, but not for auto shutdown when heat or framedrop
oh ****.. It happened with mine too...
I used mine for about 2 years and suddenly last week it happened. I tried to search for solution on internet and found that it happens to many people too.
Last week it suddenly shut down if I used the phone while charging, but now even though I'm not using it while charging, it turns off. Probably it will get worse as the time goes by.
Anyone tried hard reset?
I got no hope in replacing some IC on its board, so I'm looking for some easier solution.
The problem is within asus thermal engine.

So.. there's no hope to solve this issue without repairing the hardware then...
Thanks mate.
No, i think the problem is in the kernel level. But this problems can be fixed with root

Lol, this thread is still alive so issue with ROG 2 still persists.
Any luck with modded roms and kernels?
I used a ice pack to cool the phone down while charging. Recently got my batteries and display replaced. Didnt have the problem after that. May be even because of the A11 Beta

Sometimes, when I wake up the phone, some ghost touches occur and those touches slide down from the right corner and back into the corner. this event repeats continuously and quickly. I turn the screen off and on again, everything is fine.
Sometimes a ghost touch occurs in the right corner, so I can't control the phone. I turn the screen off and on again, everything is fine.
This problem started after upgrading miui 12 globe rom from miui 11 globe rom using TWRP. Actualy i dont know the exact time.
I tried evolution rom but the result is the same. I tried the build.prop codes (touchcalibration, touchsize, touchpressure ...) but no progress.
If this is a hardware problem, why is it temporarily resolved when we turn the screen off and on. hardware problem should always be ghost touches.
Any solution?
Thanks in advance.
I have the exact same issue using Masik 14.0 but honestly it's not that annoying so far.
I've been having the same issue, I believe.
At first I just rebooted the phone and everything was good. But now it's happening more often and I simply lock and unlock the device and most of the times the problem stops.
I have the "MIUI Global 11.0.3.1" and haven't flashed anything so far, so I guess that's not why it is happening to you.
I've read somewhere on the internet that it would help to disable "MIUI Optimization" on the Developer settings. I've disable it today, but the issue already happened afterwards, so it doesn't look like a solution.
If anyone has further information on how to solve this, I'd like to hear it. It's not a big problem, but starts to be annoying, especially when you're writing or trying to do some important task.
I tried everything and decided that is the hardware problem. I relocked bootloder and installed stock rom. And sent it to service to change the panel. Now i am waiting…
