Hello
My wife has a Note 9 N960F/DS (8/512) running One UI 1.0 Pie with Jan 2019 security patch.
Although Android 10 update is available for our region (Greece) and for her CSC (EUR), when i manually check for OTA updates i got nothing. I even checked with Smart Switch with no luck.
Is there any explanation for this?
(I prefer not to update through Odin)

Greece version of latest android 10 with January's security patch is available on sammobile so when this happens generally it must be available even on smart switch (but not necessary on OTA...here it can be available a little bit later)...take a look and check it out here:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/SM-N960F/EUR/
Looking at the list of all the Greece (Euro) firmwares from the above url, I found out a strange thing: the last version of Pie dosen't have January's security patch and it doesn't match at all with your version...seams that yours is missing. Thinking better, once I recived on a S5 via OTA an update that didn't been listed on sammobile...maybe that happened even to you if you recived your last update with OTA.
However, last 10 (with January's security patch) for Greece is there and it can be dowloaded for making the update with Odin unstead of smart switch or OTA. If you want to wait, maybe you can get it Monday with smart switch or with OTA ...maybe servers at stuck on Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks @joedellosso
Indeed the AP version is missing from Greece's list. Maybe it's because the phone was for Polish market thus XEO in original CSC version.
Anyway since last January there have been lot of updates for both Greece (EUR) and Poland (XEO) and my wife's Note 9 didn't get any of them....
Something has stuck in general in this phone.

Try to go back to the original phones country firmware (didn't understand if Greece or Poland) if now having another's country firmware installed downloading from sammobile the latest android 10 (with January's security patch) of the phone's original country and flash it with Odin , maybe that will fix even OTA if not having any OTA updates anymore.

Hello,
like the title descripes, i just want to know how i can receive OTA updates again. I'm currently running on stock Android 5.0.2.
The device has an unlocked bootloader and has been rooted(wich has already been undone).
Did i flash the wrong firmware since i had to manually install it because the device was running on cm 12.1?
I know i could simply install the 5.1 firmware but since i don't want to loose all my data and i don't want to **** arround with backups and stuff,
i hope i can get the OTA update to work again.
hope you glory it magicans are able to help me
kind regards
P.S.
Here is a screenshoot with some infos:

How do you know that you won't get any updates with the firmware you've got? As far as I know, Motorola hasn't released the 5.1 update yet, at least not for the XT1068 model that is sold in Germany.
For reasons of comparison, I am on 5.0.2 with my XT1068 as well (never rooted, never unlocked BL), although it states the Baseband-Version to be: "MSM8626BP_1032.3105.93.00R EMEA_DSDS_CUST"
(funny how my device is always recognized as XT1068, although the "1032" suggests it to have the Baseband firmware of another device).
I also have different kernel versions and build numbers:
Code:
Kernel: 3.4.42-gdd242b0
[email protected]#1
Fri Jan 23 13:23:41 CST 2015
System version: 22.26.1.titan_retde.retdeall.en.DE retde
Build number: LXB22.46-28.1
This is an unbranded device, bought in Germany. My system updater app always states that my system software is up to date, so I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for 5.1 to be released on my XT1068 so I can get it OTA.
But basically, there is no reason to believe, your device has already received an update, so it may very well be that you'll get one when it's released. Or, if not, then you may see if you can find another firmware (i.e. the one I have, which runs quite smoothly - I've had only one or two unexpected reboots since I've got the device, and never had any other troubles), then why shouldn't it get an update? Provided that you don't deactivate the Motorola OTA app, which needs to be working for the phone to know when it gets an update.
Ever since I got the official beta build a few months ago, I no longer get OTA updates. I have had to flash all my updates through either ODIN (to get off of the beta back to stable) or Smart Switch. I posted the following thread on reddit and they told me that somehow I flashed ATT data to my phone, but I don't think I ever did that. I have only used the XAA firmware since I have a factory unlocked Note 8 that I bought directly from Samsung. Here is a image of what my recovery shows now:

Any ideas about how to get it back to Block-Based OTA instead of File Based and also how to fix the errors?
Thanks!
Bump - Anyone?
I have the same issue. believe it is due to the pie beta, tried odin and OTAs still don't work. rip for us
I also have N950U1 and flashed the beta Pie version and beta updates from SD-card as Zip files.
When official Pie was available, I used Smart Switch; I had to downgrade first to latest Oreo version. Thereafter OTA worked again, for initial upgrade to Pie and subsequent updates.
My advise, try downgrading through Smart Switch.

If I am already on the latest update, is it still possible to download back to Oreo from Pie? Would I have to do this through Odin?
I downgraded through Smart Switch, it indicated to do so...

I have no idea then. I only get update prompts when I connect to SmartSwitch, which is how I have had to update since exiting the Beta.
So this evening my phone received official update to V10.3.25.0.PEMEUXM
Its just a security update, still Android 9. Just thought I'd make a post as I had not seen the news elsewhere.
Very surprising to get this update after no security updates in 6+ months.
Also it seems you can download the ROM here (bottom of page), I found this link via Google, use at own risk:

Wow I am just as shocked ? Totally unexpected after all this time waiting for some update.
MIUI 12 (Android 9 still) is scheduled for October, with security patches scheduled for December, January and March.
I finally got it. AT last...
It seems the v10.3.0.25 update has been pulled. I'm still with the out of factory v10.3.0.18, and I had the v10.3.0.23 (JAN 2020 security patch) upgrade notification for a while (without installing it). Then a week ago, I got a notification for the update in discussion v10.3.0.25 (JUL 2020 security patch), but after a few days without installing it, it disappeared and the only update showing is the JAN 2020 v10.3.0.23. I wonder if they broke something with the 25 update and had to pull it early. Those having installed it, any bugs/battery drain? EU model, UK unlocked.
The good thing about this update is it kinda confirms the story about Mi MIX 3 5G getting MIUI 12 in October (+ at least 1 more security update after that). 2 conflicting stories broke in July, one in early July saying the end of the road for Mi MIX 3 5G, and then another one detailing a future roadmap for the device. It said next in line is a security patch that would go live somewhere by the end of that month (July) and then the MIUI 12 update in October, and then at least one more cumulative security update. Well the v10.3.0.25 update went live on 10ish of Aug, somewhat confirming the 2nd story. We'll have to wait and see.
So it seems that an even newer version (based on version number) is already available: V10.3.26.0.PEMEUVF
https://piunikaweb.com/2020/08/10/x...oid-10-hopefuls-get-new-miui-10-based-update/
Not had this via OTA yet, here in England.
Odd one here, I'm seeing lots of folks posting about getting updates but I'm not receiving any.
Trying to manually check for updates in settings just says I'm on latest version...

Different region firmware not reccomended to flash unless you know how to unbrick it in the event it happens.
Also the fact that you may trip knox if u brick ur device and do other stuff to revieve it.

It is OXM firmware so its like universal.
You cannot trip knox with stock firmware.
I'll read through but will probably hold off on flashing as I don't fully understand the different region versions.
Want to understand it a bit better first so I'll read up on it and bide my time to see if the updates get pushed out to me soon.
Fingers crossed they do!
Cheers.
Good timing as update rolled out to me this morning...
think I'm still behind though!
