Hello people
i'm aware that there are guides out there, but i'm honestly not the best at all this flashing stuff, i have done it to a few phones but this one needs to be done just right!
So, where should i begin?, i reckon i should start with unlocking the phone via the unlock tool (i am registered and accepted) and then flash TWRP via that tool?
or is the best/only way of flashing TWRP with the ADB fastboot?

my problem now is i have no idea how to get miui 7 on it. Iknow that all CM based roms will end in a bootloop if i try to flash with that on.
i have tried a number of things, last time i tried i ended up with it not detecting my sim card, so i had to revert back to Miui 8

Your thread is getting slightly confusing so let's do it step by step.
Is your phone currently unlocked?
To check, put it into fastboot mode manually without adb:
Turn off your device. Then turn on your device again while holding volume down button.
Plug in your device. Use fastboot:
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Post screenshots.
Reboot your phone. Post a screenshot of your "About phone" settings menu.

I also tried this way.But not miflash tool. I use twrp to flash global stable rom, boot up the rom and flash twrp through fastboot. And then you can flash your favourite rom.
Hi,
sorry to hijack this thread, but i also have problem flashing TWRP.
I have unlocked phone.
I have USB debugging enabled.
I can reboot to fastboot via adb.
I ca flash twrp (twrp-3.0.2-1-gemini.img 25.2M 2016-07-19 18:48:36 EDT).
But when i go to recovery i still see Mi PcSuite thing. No twrp.
What am i doing wrong? IS there some other, more appropriate twrp image?

I got mine sorted out, what you are missing is when you are done flashinh you have to type "Fastboot reboot" and then set TWRP to default recovery
hope that helps you out
Same problem for me, when i type "Fastboot reboot", my Mi5 reboot quickly and after when i go to recovery i see also Mi PC Suite....
Do you have a workaround ?
Second question, is it normal that time to send TWRP.img to phone in ADB is only 0,9s ?

Hey guys. i got my phone a week ago, was happily using it until i noticed the Vendor Rom 8.0.8.0 M0AHCNDI2 days ago. Decided to flash the Official Stable ROM with chinese MI PC Suite. Checked forums and finally after downloading the Official Stable Chinese ROM managed to flash my phone with it. Except for some problems i encountered while using Google apps it was running fine. After few hours i decided to try the Ofiicial Chinese Dev Rom aswell. But after flashing via Chinese MI PC Suite my phone got stuck on bootloop. Now i can't flash the stable rom back and my phone is stuck. Help Please, Thanks in advance

Instead of using PC Suite, boot your phone into fastboot mode and flash the ROM using MiFlash. Don't use Mi PC Suite. Follow instructions on one of the guides in the forum and you should be fine.

Chances are it's already unlocked, with vendor rom (let's hope so). Check through fastboot with command prompt

As you're not sure whether your phone is charging, I would suggest keeping it connected to the charger for a few hours. This way, it may eventually get charged atleast to a safe level at some point.
After this, if you dont already have ADB and Fastboot installed, install it from the guide in the forums. Make sure to uninstall PC Suite first.
Once ADB is installed, open up the shell, boot device into fastboot mode and connect to PC. In the command shell,
Type fastboot oem device-info
It should show you the device bootloader lock status. Though most phones which come with Vendor ROMs have unlocked bootloaders, this is not always the case as my phone came with a vendor ROM while bootloader was locked. I suspect this is because vendors may have a signed Custom ROM file which can be flashed using the stock recovery, meaning bootloader unlocking is not a necessity for them to load the custom firmware.
Once you check whether bootloader is unlocked, if it isnt, unlock the bootloader using the guide.
Then install MiFlash and flash the fastboot ROM
if it is locked (afaik, mi suite can lock bootloaders, but there is no compatible mi pc suite for the mix available, so it shouldn't) then you need a deep flash cable to force flash anything in miflash tool. buy one for a few dollar on aliexpress.
xiaomi deep flash cable. with the button.

I was wondering how the OP flashed using Mi PC Suite considering the Mix isnt supported. Maybe he is referring to Mi Flash as PC Suite.
If thats the case he may have messed something during the flashing process. Isn't there a way to enter EDL mode without the deep flash cable? I think it was done via a fastboot command.

Now all i want is getting my phone working again and switching to EU ROM and not touching anything risky ever again.

You can follow this guide compiled by @underlines : Guide: (17-01-09) Flash Global/China ROM, Root, gapps, Xposed, TWRP
This guide has step by step instructions on how to install ADB and fastboot, unlock bootloader and Flash a ROM of your choice. Providing you follow the guide carefully, you wouldn't face any issues.
I have also posted a guide which is only intended to be an add-on to the guide posted by underlines. This means you should already have the recommended files downloaded and bootloader unlocked. using the guide above.
My guide uses a different version of MiFlash as certain Vendor ROMs are not compatible with the newer version. If you are unable to flash using the original guide above, you can also try following my guide. Guide to switch from Vendor ROM to EU ROM
But I would strongly recommend going through the guide posted by @underlines as you are new to flashing.

change the colored path to the correct path to your twrp file (not the EU one) and press enter"

You can use the TWRP RC2. This version has been confirmed by many to work with both the Official stable and dev ROMS.
Some have experienced issues with touch functionality within TWRP using RC1.
RC2 is the way to go. If you have already flashed one of the official roms, if you'd like to flash the EU ROM, you can follow my guide. Providing you follow all steps correctly, you should be on EU ROM.

Flashing official ROM is not necessary if TWRP is working fine. Flash TWRP RC2 using fastboot, if touch is working for you, you can proceed copying the required files.
Follow my guide on this link.
If TWRP is working fine for you, you can follow from Step 6. If touch is frozen in TWRP, follow my guide from Step 1.
If TWRP works for you, when it prompts you to swipe right, make sure you flash the dm-verity and forced encryption disabler from the link I have provided, soon after you have swiped right to allow system modifications. If not you may face a bootloop.
Keep the guide open and follow the steps.

Afaik...to flash latest pie base firmware, first you need to unlock your phone's bootloader and then only you can flash available fastboot firmware (pie based) using MiFlash tool.
Try to OTA update using WiFi(Keep the phone to airplane mode and just turn on the WiFi and then try to update). Also before updating the phone just turn on the oem unlock switch under developer option on safer side so you can unlock your bootloader later if anything goes wrong while updating your device since many people have reported that they've bricked their device during updating their device..
Updaing to PIE was successfull.
Used this guide to unlock bootloader: https://www.androidexplained.com/mi-a2-unlock-bootloader/
Then used the MI FLASH tool to apply the stock rom. First atemp failed with "write error" after 55 seconds, but I tried a second time and this time the process completed.

You must have selected "flash all and lock" under MiFlash tool so it lock the bootloader as well but now you know how to unlock it so do it whenever you feel like unlocking your bootloader..
So i recently got the prompt to install zui 11.5 on my phone and got it installed relatively fine. Download took around 15 minutes and required 1 gb of storage. After downloading, i installed the OTA update and my phone did its thing. After around 3 minutes, the installation was done and my phone is now stuck at the lenovo logo. I have been waiting for around 30 minutes but it does not boot up properly yet? I have a CN rom and is the not a custom rom whatsoever so im not sure what caused the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:crying:
Before the update, does your phone show a warning screen? If so, the bootloader was unlocked previously.
You might need to unlock the bootloader again as some OTAs relock the bootloader. However if you unlock the bootloader, it will factory reset the phone.
No i did not see any warning before. My phone previously came with an unlocked bootloader and had a global rom. I flashed a CN rom to receive OTA and it worked fine as I was able to receive updates. But when I received the Zui 11.5 update, it told me that my bootloader was locked whenever i booted into fastboot.

Expected behavior, this is also reported in the 4PDA thread. That's why the update from 11.1.021 to 11.5.xxx relocks bootloader.
5.134/5.141/5.223 can be done directly from 1.021, while 1.021 -> 5.141 -> 5.182 -> 5.199 can be done sequentially. But all will have the effect of relocking the bootloader.
Well what would do you suggest that I do ? Sorry I am not much of a techie or know that much when it comes to these sort of things. I was able to remove the bootloop by flashing the stock firmware again thus i am back on Zui 10.5. Currently not receiving any updates for Zui 11 or Zui 11.5 as it shows there are no updates available.

Haven't tested so am not sure if stock recovery would allow this. I myself am still on 5.182 because I don't want an update to relock the bootloader and I don't want to reformat my phone when I unlock the bootloader again.
I have finally fixed the problem. With the file you have provided, I flashed the Zui 11 and got my phone to the said version. After flashing the update, my phone got a prompt for Zui 11.5 again and I proceeded to install it again. The update now works and my phone booted in around 2 minutes. I am now in Zui 11.5.223 ST. Thank you so much for you help:laugh::good:

I just flashed the Zui 11 rom onto my phone and got the update from the Zui Update. ( Settings)
I followed the steps stated in here but instead of using the stock firmware, I used the update that was provided above
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-pro-gt/how-to/guide-unbrick-guide-lenovo-z5-pro-gt-t3915945
Ps: If you're not sure with how this work, I would advise against it as it may completely brick your phone if you do not know what you are doing.

Standard QFIL Troubleshooting
Adapted from 4PDA using Google Translate
0) Check if Qualcomm drivers are properly installed
1) QFIL must be run in Administrator mode
2) The path to the folder with the firmware is too long/contains special characters -- unzip the firmware in C: /
3) Use the original cable
4) Change the USB port
5) Redownload QFIL version 2.7.453 from another site, uninstall existing QFIL , clean Program Files (x86) \ Qualcomm, ProgramData \ Qualcomm, AppData \ Roaming \ Qualcomm folders, install QFIL
6) In Device Manager, the hardware item may have a triangle with an exclamation mark. Reinstall drivers using the "Disable driver signing enforcement" mode and try QFIL again without rebooting
7) The file system type in QFIL is by default on emmc. Change to ufs, restart QFIL and try again
8) Turn on flight mode
9) Turn off antivirus
10) In the Configuration check “Use verbose”
Some steps need some more Googling. Hope this helps.

I cant get out of sahara fail too the first time i did it 2 months ago it worked first time. someone have any ideas how to make it work again ? edit: Factory reset would help? edit2:after unlock the bootloader again he did boot normaly and now I have android 10 hope it helps anyone.
I also got the sahara error on my first time. If you got the sahara error, you just have to make sure you press the volume Up, Down and Power button all at the same time. Afterwards, it is very important to quickly connect your phone to the cable attached to the Pc. The sahara error occurs when you are too slow at that process.
I've done this around 5 times and successfully flashed other firmware on my phone. You could also try changing the cable or port that you are using. Checking if you installed the drivers correctly and followed the options in Qfil.
But from what I saw from other threads, sahara error mostly occurs if you are not fast enough at connecting the cable after pressing the buttons.

Can you give me the steps to update zui 11.5 like you did, pls...

After flashing the Zui 11, check your system update again and it should prompt you to install Zui 11.5. If you got into a boot loop again, I would recommend to reflash the Zui 11 stock firmware again. Flashing it again fixed the bootloop. Goodluck:good:
Hi, after receiving the phone today i tried following this guide to install custom ROM -
. I got stuck at trying to unlock the bootloader and after trying that for the 3rd time i got a notification that the system is corrupted (or something along those lines) and now it is in bootloop. It can be detected in XiaoMiToolV2, I can also hear that my PC detects it when i plug it in, but i can't find a way to unbrick it. I read that i should wait a week to be able to unlock the bootloader. When trying to unlock it (while in bootloop) I'm getting the same message as before, when the system was still working. Does that mean that I could just wait 7 days and then it would allow me to unlock the bootloader and progress with installing another ROM? Or should I try something else?

Try flash stock - the same rom you had with miflash.....thats the best way for now....can you enter fastboot mode? Volume down+power? If so you are saved then
I tried many times, but whenever i do that it just shows Xiaomi logo and them shows the fastboot image.
About that flash stock - can i do that with locked bootloader? I did try installing another rom and the phone itself is detected but the bootloader prevents me from installing it. I think I'll just wait those 2-3 days left until it's been week since adding the phone to my account and will try to unlock the bootloader. That should work, right?

Yes, you can flash the MIUI stock ROM with a locked bootloader. I'd recommend doing that first.
So yesterday i managed to unlock the bootloader and install the fastboot rom from xiaomi.eu. Everything works great, but I have one question - after the installation i can see that there is newer version in miui system update. Is it safe to update it from there or should i just stick to official roms from xiaomi.eu? Will updating this way revert everything to chinese version (Suggested update is 3.9GB, with the name on MIUI 12.5 V12.5.13.0.RKBCNXM)
