Is anyone working on a carrier switch process for the Note 8 like the S8/S8+ ? I have a Verizon Note 8 that I would like to run the T-Mobile firmware on.
Thanks!

I found that the Canadian file has to be the XAC version and following the S8+ guide does work...follow it to the letter...still, if the device is unlocked...you should be able to flash the other carrier firmware and insert carrier SIM...I can't test beyond Sprint though and since my device is the XAA version my results may be different...if you are successful with the S8+ guide...let us know

Make sure to use the Canadian XAC when at the step...let me know how it goes and whether you had to modify any steps so I can incorporate the info in a guide...

Hi Everyone,
I've searched and could not find a clear answer, and am hoping someone can help.
I just purchased a US Samsung Note 8 (SM-950U1), my question is, is it possible for me to install the G955W (Canadian) firmware on this device?
For Canadian users is anyone currently using a US Note 8 (SM-950U1) Factory unlocked?
Thanks.
Made a typo I meant can I flash SM-N950W Canadian firmware to a SM-950U1 Factory unlocked Note 8
Thanks,

not yet, North American models are all Snapdragon with locked bootloaders. If someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader then you could get a flashable zip version of a Canadian ROM and use that but as far as I've seen nobody has been able to do much with the Snapdragon variants yet.
I have been reading the s8 plus thread where users have flashed the s8 plus Canadian (sm-g955w) firmware to the Us s8 plus (sm-g955u) is it not the same process?
Thanks for your help

If you follow the s8 + guide...if available it would be the same for u...I am working on a guide for carrier switching but it is for U.S. snapdragon models...but it uses the Canadian XAC home_csc...I say pm the poster of the s8+ that you mentioned for details and then flash at your own risk....you can always flash back to your original....before you do, though, insert your Canadian carrier SIM and see if you can activate it...when I was testing the carrier switch there were options to change to Canadian csc's....good luck
Any update? I also bought my note 8 from USA. With the US firmware, we do not have access to certain features like VOLTE or caller ID and spam protection.
Check out blue fox's thread. I just flashed US firmware on a Canadian unlocked XAA device(not sim locked to Rodgers, bell etc). long as your flashing stock Samsung firmware, youll be fine. The Canadian and US Note 8 phones are basically the same.

Hi, i am trying to see if it's possible to flash SM-N950U (ATT firmware) onto the TGY (Hong Kong dual sim) SM-N9500?
If the TGY is 64G RAM, then i am guessing everything is the same except dual sim internally, so should I just be able to flash the stock ROM?
How about if the TGY is 256G RAM? having different RAM size could be problem, I am guessing.
I don't know much about these except i can follow step-by-step instructions quite well.
Thanks in advance.

1. I'm not sure how you plan to do this - Odin won't let you flash other devices or even different variants of the same base model so you will need to use TWRP and a flashable ZIP
2. Not sure about the Snapdragon models but the Exynos models are all identical hardware - IE my Korean N950N still has 2 SIM slots even though it is not sold as a dual-SIM phone.
3. You mean storage, flash memory, not RAM. All the Note 8's have 6GB RAM. As for the question - it shouldn't matter. I've used N950F ROMs (which I believe are all 64gb capacity so far) on my 256gb N950N and I still had the full amount of storage available.
That's an excellent question. I have an unlocked SM-N950W with Telus firmware but I would like to flash it using Rogers firmware.
Does anyone know if this is possible via Odin?
this thread is interesting! that's a question i'm looking for too ! because my Note8 is 64GB , Model SM-N9500 and i'm looking to anybody help to flash to SM-N95xx in USA
I am looking to know if that's possible too. I am planning to purchase a N9500 model and wanted to know if I can flash any other country's firmware on it without tripping knox or routing. My reason is to be able to use samsung pay in my country.
Also, what is the reason for other people here trying to flash different firmware?
Was anyone ever able to get it done? I have a n9500 Hong Kong version, dual sim, 256gb and i’d like to flash it to be able to get everything running on it like Wi-Fi calling and other features. Got this version because I’d like to have the dual sim for traveling and the 256gb for lots of storage. I’m originally on AT&T.

Odin won't let you flash firmware for another model, but if you root you can flash ROMs for identical hardware (IE on the Exynos versions the 950N Korean models can run 950F-based flashable zip ROMs just fine because both 950N and 950F are identical hardware).
The main thing as far as features go would be band support on the modem, as I understand that the N9500 and N950U are both Snapdragon models I would assume you guys can run 950U-based ROMs, but I have no idea about the 9500's LTE bands support in relation to AT&T (I'm on T-Mobile so they are the only USA carrier I was concerned with when I opted for the N950N).

Can I update the firmware of N950F into SM-N950U?
If it matters I've been flashing crazy this past few week due to OEM issue, AFAIK as long as you flash the correct HOME_CSC,CP for your variant everything else should work as intended (exynos firmware=exynos firmware ONLY). I got a N950X but rockin with a N950F firmware (BRA8/BTU) since I got my phone original from UK.
AP: is your system partition with recovery and stuff.
BL: your bootloader
CP: your modem
CSC: this is what features you get in some countries or carriers like Wi-Fi Calling.

I'm basically asking the same question here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/flash-sm-n950u-to-sm-n9500-t3772085
Just flash system partition it will boot at least when I flashed n9500 on my n950u
I wouldn't recommend it as the modem drivers maybe different. As Carrier branded devices may have their own specific modem install rather than the one found on other variants.

Prince Comsy ODIN?
Is it possible the other way? I mean is it possible to flash n9500 rom on n950u unlocked? I need the dual sim function and my device is n950u.
Curious for all you pros out there. I purchased an ATT branded note 9 directly from Samsung running on firmware N960USQS1ARH6 and am now switching to Spectrum (Verizon).
1. Can I use the verizon firmware N960USQS1CSD1 android pie 9? or
2. Do I have to stay on 8 and use the verizon firmware version N960USQS1ARH6 instead of the ATT firmware?
3. Do not want to brick my note 9 and would like to dbl check before flashing.
4. Went down to the spectrum store and they verified my IMEI number is compatible..
Thanks for the help...

So i bought this phone here in the middle east and i noticed that the firmware is from USA (Sprint). and i feel that the phone is used or refurbished. My question is:
1. Can someone easily modify the RTN so that the reconditioned status will be "No" so it would look like its not a refurbished one?
Also i noticed that samsung pay is showing deals from USA, my second question is:
2. How to change the country of samsung pay to a middle east one where im currently residing?
Edit: I have a SM-N960U Phone if that helps.
Edit2: Also why its not updating to Android 10?

1. I have no idea about this. sorry.
2. no, you cant. you have a Sprint version so you just can use samsungpay in US according to your phone's CSC (if your phone's knox hasnt been tripped, ofcouse).
2bis. the U version cannot update to android 10 by OTA. you can use odin to flash the latest firmware to your phone. Since you're living in middle east so i suggest using the U1 version's firmware to get rid of all Sprint's bloatwares.

You have to flash latest android 10 u1 firmware
I have the same model n960u from verizon and i am in middle east too.
But sadly Samsung pay will only work in usa.
Download link latest u1 firmware.
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...SM-N960U1/AIO/download/N960U1UES4DTD1/338195/
If you want everything work in middle east then you better sell this model and get international model N960F dual sim.
But in my opinion N960U is much more better because it has snapdragon 845 SOC chipset with adreno gpu its very powerful for gaming and battery efficient
and N960F has exynos with mali gpu and it's not that good as snapdragon.
And also thoisands of users has screen discoloration issues "hardware failure" with exynos model after android 10 update.
Apart from Samsung pay everything will work fine same as international model if you flash u1 firmware

Not quite true about these things:
- samsungpay: here in asia, US version N960U can use sspay with some US banks' cards, ex: citibank credit card.
- screen discoloration issue: many Snap version phones have that issue too afaik, so i dont think its chip related. But yeah, the cause is still unknown.
I do agree that snap version is more powerful than exynos one.

yay! a fellow member that is located in dubai!
it means i will be busy backing up my data over the weekend and upgrading the OS.
im checking your link from sammobile. what does AIO,BST,XAA,XAS mean?
well, im not gung-ho on having samsung pay. i can live without it as long as i got snapdragon
im checking your link from sammobile. what does AIO,BST,XAA,XAS mean?
It doesn't matter it's just csc code for who use American sim card.
If you use this phone non american sim it will use xaa unlocked csc code by default no matter which firmware csc you flash
They all comes multi csc firmware.
I recommend you to wait until next week because there will be new updated firmware available oneui 2.1 update with tons of new features from note 10.
Tha firmware i gave you the link earlier is oneui 2.0.
