Hi everyone!
I got this new tablet and is running FIRE OS 5.3.6.4 (626533320)
Anybody knows how to install any different ROM? That requires few operations...:
(maybe downgrade necessary, but with this firmware version...cant find anything)
Unlocking Bootloader
Installing recovery
Rooting...
Please, I cant use it with all the amazon s**t!
:fingers-crossed:

hello,
is it possible to install android 4.1 on a kindle fire 2.
i tried the kfu utility, it says ADBnline, but boot status keeps unknown.
so i am not able to root it.
greetings,
evert-jan
There hasn't been a kindle fire utility made especially for the new kindle fire so that explains why you might be running into errors. Try using it again. Do you have the newest version.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda app-developers app
Yes i tried the latest version. No luck
Take care!
I may take your Kindle Fire 2 into brick!
Kindle Fire 2nd gen is so different from 1st gen!

As the post said before DO NOT USE KINDLE FIRE UTILITY FOR KF2. IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE!!!!! You're lucky you didn't have the right drivers as they are different from the ones in the KFU, or you would have definitely bricked your device.
You can root the KF2, Its been possible since a week after it came out-

Do we have a wiki for the fire HD/fire2 yet? Just curious because I have had some free time lately.
Sent from my Fire HD with root!

Did you ever care to look trough the current forum posts? You are asking questions discussed here for hundreds times. Please, make a small effort to educate yourself before asking anything.

Hi Timurg,
Sorry, but i did look at the forums. The only thing i found was the KFU (for the kindle fire 1st gen) and a rooting tool for the Kindle Fire HD.
So i understand that the rooting tool for the Kindle HD is also usable for the Kinle 2nd gen?
Greeting,
Evert-Jan

Yes the root tool does work for KF2, most things that have worked for the HD will work for KF2. That said not everything that works for the HD will work for the KF2 as they do have slightly different software.
Not to be a **** but, the posts above are right everything you have asked about is in these forums, you just have to dig a little deeper.
This thread will help you with the Play store-

As for running custom roms, no, its close but not yet. The closest thing to android feel you're gonna get is using an alternate launcher-

The closest you are going to get is kindle water beta. As of yet we have not been able to exploit the bootloader so flashing a custom recovery and bootimg is out of the question right now so we are very limited in what we can do.
Hello guys, i've just ordered a Fire 7" and i intend to use it mainly as an android tablet. So i noticed how much the original device is filled with stuff i won't be using, so i wanna get rid of all that.
How do i go on about rooting the device exactly? I'd really apreciate it if someone point me to the right way. I've tried looking it up but i get confused everytime because of all the information that's been posted here. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, i saw the index page earlier, although i don't know what i should do because as i mentioned above, there are a lot of tutorials in there. Could you list the steps to turn the Fire 7" into an android tablet please? I'll find the tutorials later myself. Thanks again.

This may help you. If you want to get rid of the Fire OS you would need to root your fire then install flash fire and finally flash a custom rom like CM 12.1 or Slim ROM. BTW Root Junky has tons of videos on the Fire.

After viewing videos be sure to revisit the forums, especially the ROM OP and associated thread, for the most current recommendations. Details and options change over time. RootJunky's videos are truly excellent but reflect the best thinking at a specific point in time and should be used as a visual reference versus a step-by-step prescription followed to the letter.
Hello, I have recently had an update on my kindle fire 7 9th gen which is version 7.3.1.5 and I am wondering if theres any way to root it or possibly downgrade it because for some odd reason when I reboot to recovery and reboot to bootloader it puts me in fastboot mode but I have never done any type of modifications before. Just wanna know if its possible to downgrade or root this current version. Thanks

Most Fire root and bootloader unlock threads use the device codename as a reference.
Quick way to find codename
Install DevCheck
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.devcheck
or
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/flar2/devcheck-system-info/
Open app, tap System tab
Look for codename like Thor, Ford, Saturn...
Then search for that codename on xda or Google
or if you haven't installed google play store.
Get Droid Info app from the Amazon Appstore.
https://a.co/d/8NPjXzX
look @ General info/ Board
also the Model # will give the first 2 letters of the codename
for example the 5th gen Fire is KFFOWI
KFxxxx: Kindle Fire
xxFOxx: Ford (codename)
xxxxWI: WiFi only

Hello CoolDude4571: not sure why you were reported it may have been a mistake. I'm in the same boat as you are my fire 7 9th gen did an automatic update to I think 7.3.2.2? Not sure if that's accurate I don't have to tablet with me at the moment. But with the little bit of research I've done I can't find a root method for the current OS hopefully one of our big brothers or sisters will help. PS do more research get very familiar with navigating xda there is a vast plethora of knowledge here you just gotta learn how to search. Best of luck with the issue at hand
