im trying to to find a fix to these couple of simple but annoying issues. first one is if im using a few apps, it will block out my notification bar as you can see in the two screenshots i posted. where would i go to change the color or setting where this own t happen
and second is when im using the google messages app, the search function wont work for me to find a person to text. i have to manually find them in contacts in order to text them. i know its a third party app but it worked fine in lineageos so im not sure why its broken on stock

I'm having an issue where the timestamp on my msgs are now incorrect after flashing to a new rom. I was told that htis happened if I am outside the USA (I am from canada on rogers), but this never happened before to me from flashing to a AT&T rom.
Is there an actual fix to it?
If i flash to a different rom will my timestamp be fixed?
how about if flash stock, will it fix the issue?
I had the same problem. I can't figure it out either, but I found a work around.
I downloaded Handcent SMS from the market. set it up the way Ilike it, and disabled the notifications from the default SMS app.
I now have correct time stamps, and the sms has different skins to look like HTC, IPhone etc.

Thanks but i was looking for an actual fix rather than a work around. Do u know if it will go back to normal if i flashed another rom?
When I recieve/send a long text it will only show the first few lines and 'more...'
and I have to click on that individual message in order to read the whole thing. It's really hard to read a series of old, longer texts bc when I hit the back button to go back to the thread, it takes me to the most recent one and I have to scroll through to find where I was.
Can anyone tell me which roms have mms that displays the entire text message without having to click on it?
So far I found that only serendipity does. Are there any others? Looking to flash tonight if anyone can help thatd be great!
I use the chomp app from the market. Pretty sure you can customize it to show the whole message when you get it. Plus when the text appears on screen it will take you to that most recent message. I've used chomp on froyo and GB custom roms. Hope this helps

Is that similar to handcent? I'll check it out if I cant find a rom that has an mms with that feature.
Thanks!
i faced a little problem with the go launcher ex, go contacts and so on.. this happens when the go launcher ex and go contacts are installed and being used as default, if i got a missed and i want to see it from the notifications i just click on it and it opens the go dailer on the missed logs then the missed notification should disappear from the notifications bar but it doesn't , it only disappear if i open the stock dialer and checked the missed logs anyone got a fix for this problem? i am using rooted deodexed XXKPF firmware.... i thought it might be the problem with the phone.apk so if i could change it with another one from another stock firmware it might work (not sure about that) any ideas please?

1`st. this isn`t a proper forum section to ask.
2`nd the missed notification doesn`t disappear because of GB itself-it doesn`t allow 3`rd party applications to dismiss notifications.
3`rd. try a wipe cache/dalvik cache after you have uninstalled GO contacts and GO sms then reinstall them. If you still got notifications I recomed you use exDialer (free from market) and another patch (xMissedCall Patch) and see what`s happening. for me always worked
thanks i will try that, and i didn't know which is the proper section to post this question
I should probably post this somewhere else because I know it's an issue for more than the Nexus 6, but ever since I updated to 6.0 a few weeks ago I keep having issues sending and receiving MMS. It probably took me a week or more to notice the first time, but after a lot of pulling my hair out for almost a week I figure out it was Ad Away. I uninstalled and all was well. I know I could have messed with the ports in the APN profiles but I didn't want to be bothered.
Last week ES File Explorer updated with their terrible update and aside from the annoying new features, once again MMS stopped working. This was a little easier to pinpoint and once I uninstalled my MMS started working again.
Today I'm having trouble with MMS again. I started searching on the topic again, this time focused on Marshmallow and found a lot of people pointing fingers at Pushbullet. Also found people saying that Chrome was not set as the default browser and that assigning it fixed the problem for them. Luckily that was the case for me and I still have pushbullet (phew).
However, I feel like I'm just scratching the surface on this issue. What's up with Marshmallow that apps keep breaking MMS so easily? Is the Chrome default setting the underlying culprit here? I didn't check it the first two times but I'm wondering if I can reinstall other apps now haha. Obviously it'll be the first thing I check the next time this happens -_- but I'd like to understand what's happening better.
So do any of you smarter-than-me people understand this?
Update: I wasn't imagining things haha.

No0 the chrome issue is not really a big deal. I dont have it set as mine and mms works fine. The pushbullet thing is a known issue. Are you using a 3rd party sms app?
I was having the same issue, nothing exoctic installed, using stock messenger. I played with the apn settings to no avail. I ended up installing chomper and haven't had a problem since

Are you using the stock message app? not that you should have to put a different messaging app on your phone to fix the issue, but purely from a troubleshooting perspective have you tried that? Personally I didn't care for the stock app so when the Stagefright terror came about I switched to Textra and have been there ever since. It really is an awesome MMS app, maybe give that a go and see what happens, and once you use Textra, I doubt you will want the stock app.

Was just curious if something was clearing Chrome and causing this to happen, and if maybe I had known about this and tried it the last two times I wouldn't have had to uninstall anything.

Using the stock Google Messenger app. I tried using Hangouts as the default SMS app but it happened there too. I hate SMS/MMS so I really want to avoid downloading any additional apps haha. I usually try to force people into using an instant messenger but you know how people can be. It's just annoying because I usually don't even get a notification that I'm missing messages. I just open conversation and it says "tap to download" or "downloading..."
I'm working fine now so maybe the next time it breaks and Chrome as the default browser isn't the fix it I will explore some third party apps, it just seems like this is a "thing" with Marshmallow.

I had the same issue. Got my nexus 6, before even setting it up, I rooted and installed marshmallow pure nexus. I'm on T-Mobile. I had 3 apn's under settings. The fast-tmobile had mmsc blank. The 3rd apn had T-Mobile mmsc filled. I copied that, pasted it into the fast-tmobile apn, clicked save, then deleted the other 2 apn's. I use hangouts, and since doing that, I've had zero issues at all. If I change roms, its the first thing I do. I'm more inclined to believe it's in your apn. Many people have had the same issue. I went back to 5.1.1 and took the ota. Mms was broken and I had to apply the same fix. Still on the stock ota, and all has been well. Good luck

Hi all,
I'm new here and am hoping someone can help. I have a Galaxy S6 Active. Pretty much since day one, I have used a third party app for texting because I didn't like the limited choices for backgrounds in the stock app. I prefer dark backgrounds on my phone and the few standard backgrounds for messages are all white or light colored. Using the third party app has been fine, until yesterday. That's when I got my new Gear Sport smartwatch. Apparently, you can't have a third party texting app in use if you want to be able to text on your watch, so I ditched the third party app. I'm now left wondering if I just didn't look hard enough in the Galaxy Apps or somewhere else to find a darker setting for the stock messages app on the S6 Active. From the little bit of research I've managed, I've learned:
1. the stock messages app isn't the same across all of the S6/Active/Edge(+) phones.
2. the stock messages app isn't the same based on carriers.
Is there any hope for me?
Many thanks!
Install a different theme on your phone. Go to Settings/wallpaper and themes/Themes tab and find one you like. I have an ICS theme on my phone and texts show up with a dark background and white text.

Thanks loads!! It worked like a charm.
A follow up, seemingly related question: since switching to the stock Messaging app, there have been occasions when I have swiped the screen to respond to another notification or even when I have simply swiped to open the phone that the Messaging app automatically opens. I thought that it was because the icon was at the bottom of the screen and that I was somehow inadvertently opening it even though that's where it's always stayed since I got my first smartphone years ago. So I moved the icon and it still happens. It wouldn't be such a problem if it didn't also open up the texting thread of the same person every time. If it just opened to the list of conversations, it wouldn't be as annoying, but I don't want people to see my texts. I have a lot of nosey people in my life.
Thanks again!!
