Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro - problem with fast charging - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Dear all,
I have problem with my Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro, it stopped fast charging. My phone is on Miui 11, Android 10.
Some day i've noticed that i've got only 1 "thunder" icon during charging. Charging from 0% to 100% takes about 7 hours now.
What i've done so far:
- tested on charger which was included in the box - no fast charging
- tested on Xiaomi Power Bank with fast charging - no fast charging
- tested 4 diffrent cables - no fast charging
- tested on turned off phone - no fast charging
- i've downloaded last update package and install it once again - no fast charging
- i've tested charging speed on ampere - maximum is 800mah
I've found some topics on various forums but there was no solution for this problem.
Any ideas friends?

Worst case scenario it is damaged charging port. Try to clean it using thin piece of wire or needle, it's easy to clog it up so the plug doesn't go all the way into the port.

I would take the phone to a service center. Even without fast charging is not possible that it takes 7 hours to get a full charge. It seems that the charging port is defective.
Good luck.

What kernel do you use with miui? Stock or custom? Some kernels don't support charging via 5A cables. Use 3A instead. Also, clean your usb port with a toothpick and see if you can remove any dust from the pins.

Super slow charging problem

Please help me get fast charging back. Like 3 months back, my phone suddenly stopped charging fast and since then its charging super slow. Like if I use it while charging it actually discharge. While switched off it takes 4+ hrs to fully charge.
I have replaced battery, usb assembly, charger, cable everything but to no avail. Now I think its a software issue. Maybe some kernel, firmware I screwed. I have tried Syberia, Xiaomi EU, Rev OS roms as well.
Ampere app never goes beyond 300 mah reading, whatever charge cable combination I try. Please throw if insights.
Thanks a lot

Note 9 Charges Faster When Fast Charge Is Disabled

I've been having a repeatable problem. I have a Note 9 that will charge faster when I disable fast charging under battery settings. I tested the load being drawn with a USB Power meter these are the results I got.
Using a USB-A to USB-C cable:
When QC is enabled:
Phone draws 0.5amp charge, 10ohms resistance at 5.02V.
When QC is disabled:
Phone draws 1.2 amps, 3.9 ohms resistance, at 5.02V
I am using the same cable, same power bank. The power bank's USB-A port is able to draw ~1.9 amps at 5V, tested using a USB Meter and Load Tester that will put the USB under 1 amp and 2 amp loads at 5V, with resistance being ~2.7 ohms without the power bank turning off. I haven't tested the power bank at 9V, I don't have a 9V load tester
When I immediately switch from QC to non QC, the results above are repeatable.
Things I Have Done So Far:
Reboot Phone
Clear Phone Cache
Reboot Into Safe Mode
Try Different Charging Cables, Blocks, including OEM parts.
Every once in a while, it will switch back to being able to QC fast charge but it is random.
If I use a Power delivery capable block charger, it will charge at ~2750mA (I dont have other numbers like amps, voltage, or resistance, I'm still waiting on a USB-C meter)
My phone's wireless charging has no problem operating at it's max capacity
Any one else have this problem? Anything else I could do before I factory reset my phone?
I posted about losing Fast Charge thru the stock cable a while back and got no answers or a fix. I have not tried turning off the option to see if it charges any faster. It takes almost 2 to 3hrs to fully charge at this point. I'll take any fix or work around at this point.

Turning off fast charge made my charging a bit better. With Fast Charge (FC) turned on, I was getting 0.5amps (gave around 400-500mA). Turning FC off, sped up my charging by 50%, charging at 1.2 amp (roughly gave me 800-1000mA; Both charges were at 5V). Im able to charge at around 1000 mA with this setup, a little less than wireless quick charge. No idea why turning it off helped.
Another workaround that brought my charging speed WAY UP, to 2500mA, was buying a Power Delivery (PD) capable block WITH A USB-C to USB-C cable. I can get normal fast charging speeds with that setup.
I cant get FC with USB-A to USB-C cables, which is frustrating as most of my charging blocks are the regular USB-A input port.
Hope this helps you. 2-3 hour charge is brutal.
What's even weirder is in my car my phone would barely charge. But since I lost FC at home, it started working in the car. So in my car I can FC but not at home. I even tried the wire I use in the car and still nothing. Idk what is going on
Is it possible that turning off QC is turning off a regulation in the software to keep the battery from overheating? With this regulation turned off that would normally be on when quickcharging, the regulation is not active, thus causing the battery to charge at a less regulated speed, causing charging to be faster? Maybe there's a QC bug currently that's hampering it's full potential? What software version are you guys currently?
I just checked QC on mine on the latest Xfinity version and no matter what charger or cable I use with the function, it is working.
It's def not a software thing. I'm on latest October patch. Samsung told me that they have seen some issue with the charging port and once it goes bad there is nothing to do but replace it. They told me to bring it in to a store for repair thru my carrier. Haven't had a chance to go.

That what I was thinking. Something is actively limiting the charge coming in. Everytime I had quick charge enabled I've been monitoring the ohms and the resistance would automatically jump to 10ohms. Then I disable QC and the resistance automatically drops to around 6 ohms.
I'm running Android Pie 9.0, Kernel version 4.9.112

Yeah it could definitely be hardware related as well, due to each pin on a type c charging serving different purposes. There are two specific pins(I think it's two), that are responsible for enabling higher input of electricity. Couple years ago Google made comments about the cheap Amazon knock off cables and why they failed after a short while. Wouldn't surprise me if Samsung cheaped up for the cables and port on the device. I'll have to try and find the articles I read concerning the pins.
Here's a good start to understanding Type C.
https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/te...pe-c-which-pins-power-delivery-data-transfer/
Its the **** cable they supply with the phone.
I had all the same problems.
I noticed that when I turn off quick charge the phone can charge at 5v 1.7 amps. (USB doctor).
When I turn on quick charge it can only charge at 5 volts 0.40 amps.
The phone is trying to charge at 9 volts but for some reason cant so it goes into this safe mode.
I purchased a new Samsung cable it lasted for a week and developed the same problem.
A hint when it develops this problem Dex stops working.
I tried all kinds of cables. One Plus 5, and a few others. I finally got it to work again with my wifes one plus 6 cable.
Im now researching USB Type C ports and USB standard 2, 3, 3.1, 3.2
As well the quick charge tech used by Samsung. Its not Quick Charge 2. Its a proprietary standard.
So if your having problems with quick charge it could be due to your cable or your Port. Things very rarely go wrong with the charger. Also get yourself a USB Doctor. Its a big help. And only costs a few bucks.
Hope this helps somebody out there.
Right now I am trying to compare Note 9 vs Note 20 USB cable.

Fast charging issues

Hey guys! A few weeks ago I noticed that fast charging doesn't work with my usual power sources (Xiaomi Power Bank, Xiaomi QI Car Charger), even though it worked before that. I only get around 850 mAh with them. The only way it works if I use the original wall charger. I use the original and a Baseus cable. It is also slow with the phone turned off. Any ideas what causes this?

The fast charge brick is needed to power the basic functions of the charger. I suggest you get the 27W brick in order to get the 20w fast wireless charging

Xiaomi.eu ROM, I unlocked the bootloader a few weeks before this issue, but the problem also persists when the phone is turned off. Should I try to flash back the stock ROM with MI Flash?
My mi9 lite phone went slow charging too. Phone usually got a full charge after 2hrs but it went to 4hours to get a full charge after i connected my phone to transfer files to my laptop through a usb cable. What i did to get the 2hrs charging was reconnect my phone to the laptop using the same usb cable. At the phone a pop up appears with 3 choices...1st choice(forgot),2nd transfer files, 3rd transfer photos. I tapped the 1st choice and disconnected my phone. And i got my 2hrs full charging time back. Hope this will help.
I am on 12.0.2 and takes 2 hours to charge 90% mean that ~1.5 minute 1% charge
before flashing this ROM via EDL method took around ~1 hour with the original charger to charge from 20% to 90%

Mi 9T Pro Not Charging Fast

Hello friends, my device has a charging problem, I did not find any schematic to solve the problem, it does not charge fast, I read somewhere that it said to change the Chargeing board, I changed it, my problem was not solved
I tried with a few cables and wall chargers, but it still did not work
The problem of fast charging for the phone is not detected by the computer
Thank you. If you find a solution, let me know in WhatsApp or under this post

What are you using to fast charge the phone?
To achieve maximum speed you need a charger that provides at least 27W through a single PD port or a single QC4+ port.
The standard charger provide with the phone is only 18W QC3 (though some models did ship with a 27W charger)

If you are using good quality, new cables, that are capable of carrying the increased amps required, then it sounds like a problem with the phone.

I have the same problem. Using the original cable and charger, but overnight it stopped charging fast. I have already tested it on 2 different turbo chargers and it does not exceed 800ma. I also noticed that when connected to the PC, the file transfer option no longer appears.

I think there is no solution to this problem at the moment, the only way is to use chargers that have Type C on both sides.
The secret is inside the charge.cable.
Maybe it is damaged so the phone doesn't recognise it as a QC-3 cable anymore.
I have the same issue.
I get max 1600ma. Tried changing the cable at first and unfortunately could get only 2.1A but even then max input is around 1500-1600ma.
USB c flash drive is not recognized by phone anymore nor does the file transfer to laptop work. Previouslyitt would detect both after a bit of jiggling around but no more.
Now that the flash drive doesn't work too I'm thinking it's the charging board/socket at fault.
Anyone here knows the cost of a new one?
My heaphone jack is getting busted too with scratching noises coming intermittently but mostly when headphone cable is touched or moved. (headphones work perfectly in other devices but just this phone giving issues. Thinking that some components in this phone were really cheap and having low life cycles. ?

Question Fast Charging (Slow) Problem

Hi, i have Redmi Note 10 Pro (sweet) and from 3/4 days i have facing fast charging (phone says fast charging) slow, 3 hours for charge fully and if i check with battery guru says max 5w output, official xiaomi charger and tried also with baseus 120w charger, before works well fast charging, any suggestion? other with this problem? Unlocked with latest twrp from nebrassy and MIUI Rog edition with delta kernel
Can you confirm that the phone is actually taking 3 hours to charge? Or is it just saying 3 hours until full? My phone was also showing 3 Hours Until Full but in actuality was not taking that long.
Take me about 45 minutes from 30% to 90%, it should be about 1h30m for 0 to 100%
try changing the orientation of usb-c connector on either or both charger and phone connection end and see.
I have no problems charging close to 33W with Xiaomi included charger or my Baseus 65W GAN charger which supports 33W profile. I charge at around 75%/hr
Looks like a problem with twrp /

If you have Magisk / Super user, they have modules to enable fast charging
Probable cause might be your charger cannot detect the charging profiles supported by your phone. For precaution it uses the slowest profile.
Also you may check with the kernal. Sometimes they purposefully disable fast charging.

I flash a known good rom as charging issues are hard to troubleshoot... reduce the variables.
Or trouble shot the current firmware if you are capable of doing so. The wrong value could cause hardware damage.
Could also be a sign a hardware fault condition exists.
Inspect port with a good light and magnification for any signs of damage. Clean if any debris or dust is present.
Use a known good OEM charger and cable. That means exactly what it says. It's also how I ended up with 2 Samsung bricks/cables
A friend or repair shop might let you use theirs.
Did not root my last two phones anymore. To much problems ;-)
Camera Api2 is activated by default on the 10 pro. So bootloader unlocking also not needed.

Can you link any module? The ones by Laptapper change what it displays, but don't actually change anything sadly.
