Task to replace default volume panel when pressing volume buttons - Tasker Tips & Tricks

I'm using a rooted Meizu smartphone (Android 7) that has one annoying "feature" for me: whenever I press the volume buttons, the system controls Media volume, even if no media is playing.
I want to be able to control Notification, Ringtone or both volumes if I link them (it would be nice to choose which one to control) if I press volume buttons, if no media is playing. I repeat: if no media is playing.
Of course I would want to control media volume if media is playing, it's stupid and illogical to control other volume when Media is playing, like it's stupid to control media volume when no media is playing, like it's happening by default on my phone.
I tried using an app, named Button Mapper: Remap your keys, assigning Volume + and Volulme - to volume buttons, but the system decides to control System volume (the one that sets volume for different system actions, like screenlock sound, camera shuter etc.). On another phone, a Xiaomi with MIUI 8, this app works correctly: if I assign Volume + and Volume - to volume buttons, system changes Notification volume (by default, MIUI control Media volume too, even if no media is playing).
What I've noticed is that this app could assign a Tasker Intent, as you can see in the screenshot I added, if this could be helpful.
I am a complete noob in Tasker, I really don't know what this and that does but I guess I can implement commands and tasks if someone would write them down.

[Q] Remapping volume keys

Hello, i have a question about one modification... i would like to have volume controls rempaped to following:
Volume up (short press): Volume up
Volume down (short press): Volume down
Volume up (long press): Next song in playlist (HTC Sense player)
Volume down (long press): Previous song in playlist (HTC Sense player)
I imagine there are some applications out there that can handle the short-press and long-press mapping, but the mapping to HTC Sense player might be really really tricky. Pressing up key (on joystick) jumps to next song, pressing down to previous song, but it works only when media player tab is selected... any other tab uses joystick for other purposes. any suggestions for realization are welcome
I would also appreciate mapping shallow press and release of camera button to play/pause, while shallow press followed by deep press would result in launch of camera (as was intended by sony) but that's not too important as i can simply mute the radio player.
The thing is i use this phone as a MP3 player for my car radio, it is far more intuitive to use hardware buttons instead of touchscreen, not to mention safety... I'm used to this keymapping from good old K750i, unfortunately for xperia, other OS, other habbit.

[Q] Normal, Vibrate, Silent mode problem

Hello.
I just got my new Xperia z1 and facing some issues.
Normally when a phone is in vibrate or silent mode, there should be no sound from the device.
However with this phone, when I open games application (every games I tried) the sound come out.
I tried reboot, factory restore but nothing happened. It still works like normal mode although i chose vibrate and silent mode.
I tried Setting>>Sound>>Volumes and minimize the volume of "music, video, games & other media" and "Ringtone and notifications" then it work during the silent mode but then when I changed back to normal mode the sound just not come out.
I wonder if it's my mistake of setting something or what's wrong with my phone.
Sorry for my poor English language knowledge but Please help me...
Thank you in advance
As you have already found out there are two different kinds of sounds:
Using the normal, vibrate or silent option does just change the volume for ringtones and notifications, it does not change the volume for media and games.
You will also notice that using the volume rocker while being on your home screen or a non-media app will adjust the ringtones volume and using it in a game or media player will change the media volume, there will be a different symbol displayed.
I usually don't use the menu for adjusting the volume, but the volume rocker. If you want to make sure that media volume is turned down before opening am app, you will have to enter the menu though.

Click to collapse
Thank you for your reply. I thought by changing the mode to vibrate or silent, the volume of media and games will also change to silent.
I wish there is some way that i can control media and games volume by changing sound mode, but it seems no.
Will be using volume rocket from now on. Thank you for your explanation. :good:

Xperia ZL, 4.2.2 Stock (.67), rooted
volume change mod on xposed
For xposed framework (root needed) there is a module called ExpandableVolume. This way you can always get access to all your volume levels, including media, but it does not make media volume the standard changed volume.

[REQUEST] Volume rocker - Media volume priority

Hello,
Note that I already tried searching, but I couldn't find what i'm looking for
I would like to request a mod that prioritizes the Media Volume when you use the volume rocker.
The idea would be to make it so ; when I use the volume rocker, the Media Volume changes instead of the Alarm Volume.
Thanks in advance
I need this too.
Also, i didn't realize we can request stuff...

Unless they changed it now Rocker Locker is a big battery drain because it constantly plays a silent audio file to switch the volume rocker to media.

Volume Behavior in Pie 9.0

Hey, so before I updated to Pie when I hit the volume button it would increase/decrease the type of audio my phone was using at that moment. For example, if I was listening to music the media volume would be adjusted. If my phone was just on the home screen it would default to ringer/notification volume.
Now with Pie it always goes right to media volume. You have to hit the little gear icon to adjust the other volume types.
The previous Android OS's had that cool drop down feature so you could quickly see and set all the other volume types right then and there, without having to go to a whole new screen, like it is now with Pie and that gear icon.
Am I missing something in the audio settings that let you change it back to the old way?
Thanks.
Thr funny thing is: When using the instagram app I get both volume changers:
note that it will still adjust in-call volume while you're in a call, but otherwise it will always default to media. (ditto the previous comment, huge win for me personally)
