The short Answer is No, your panel was not designed for a higher refresh rate.
The longer answer is also No.
But there are indeed threads within the Mi8 forums that provided a link to patch that was taken from the Mi9 forum, that file along with claims that the BTBO patch would raise your refresh rate. and make your phone faster. Search and you will find them along with myself and others warning them to not to use the patch. Hilariously, quite a few of those did not heed to our warnings and rudely told us that the patch would not break their phone and that they have it installed. The next day several people sent a PM asked for help fixing their phones when they stopped booting, I actually found a solution for a couple of these people.
TLDR : Don't use any BTBO refresh rate increase patches they will work for one day and then fail and brick your phone.

Ehm, please never flash any over clock kernel. It destroys your screen. Many users reported on K20 Pro and Mi 9 a green display after a time.

120hz refresh rate like the Razer Phone, possible with driver mod?

I don't know if you guys saw the new Phone by Razer, but it's one of the first US launched phone with a 120hz screen. I personally tried a 100hz computer monitor and nothing beats the experience it gives (not even the resolution). Since this phone use the Snapdragon 835 like our phone. It is possible to mod the kernel, ROM and/or driver to put a higher refresh rate? At least 75hz or 90hz if our panel doesn't support 120hz ? Technical peoples, fell free to join the conversation to explain why it's/it's not possible !
it's a 60hz panel

Then i want QHD as well
Go take your average PC monitor and try doubling the refresh rate from 60-120Hz and then come back to us with the result.
Heck, most won't even let you go to 75Hz, let alone 120.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
go buy a razer phone if you want a 120hz phone dude com on
..wait for the OP 5T+C, will launch 3 month after 5T, same specs, but 120 Hz, and 50$ more expensive...jjjjjjj

On a monitor you can use custom resolution utility to overclock certain displays over hdmi, the max you'll get is 75Hz which does make a visual difference for gaming..
However on a phone ? I really don't know..
There's a relative chance that if it was possible it could maybe help with the jelly effect as it would allow more frames to come through.
Personally I don't think it's possible but I couldn't be 100% and if you damaged your screen then your phone is useless.
120Hz definitely not.
If the logistics of how CRU works on a computer can be translated to a mobile device then it could potentially be done at 75Hz although I'm not sure who would want to put their device up to test it
Not even possible on amoled
I want front speakers.... maybe the fingerprint reader can be modded to act as a speaker?
I think people have been really hard and sarcastic over genuinely question .. isn't this a forum to help people to understand or tweak their phone

Touch screen latency problem??

Does anyone having issue about touchscreen delay or lag or latency or whatever..? I hav mi 6x brandnew and i hav experiencing slow touch compared to redmi note 5 zzz
Why no one is complaining about slow touch and latency of mi 6x mi a2 :3
Is there any ?
Yes, I also experienced high latency on my Mi A2 64gb, it did not feel good at all! I compared it to a Huawei P20 and my iPhone 7 Plus, and they was light years better in touch screen.
I've noticed it and it's usually very noticeable when swiping left on the homescreen to look at google now cards. Specifically scrolling up or down sometimes leads to no action actually occurring. I enabled the developer options that shows the touches cause I thought it was a touchscreen problem and was actually able to see the touches drawing (so my gesture was being recognized) but the app did not scroll up or down at all. Removing the finger and scrolling again fixes it every time but it's certainly annoying.

The contents moving very slow even my thumb is forward to and reach to that point.. ,and delayed.. ,i m noticing a lot, but thankz to that we dont hav motion blur ,hahha hopefully it got fixed by touch panel firmware updates in the near future, like they fixed touch latency in redmi 5 plus..

In this review they actually test latency and yes is it very high compare to other phones. It is around 110ms on Mi A2! Redmi Note 5 has 91 ms and phones like Huawei P20 has 68ms and iPhone X 41ms.

Big thank Fyi, one thing i hav noticed that i hav three ph redmi 5 plus ,redmi note 5 and this shhit mi 6x ,and mi 6x hav very much high touch latency and its really PROMINENT everytime scrolling to everythings even in setting app. so i hav compared with redmi note 5 side by side and redmi note 5 is doing a lot more faster and really typing accurate ..so what does xiaomi got this..?...and anothet thing i hav experienced that when i first handled redmi 5 plus ,i got exact same problem like that ,so high touch latency ,alot of ppl at that time also in our country Myanmar complaining about touch ,then i decided to wait FIRMWARE updates and really it got fixed in recent updates ,then i started to check engineering menu and touch panel firmware version is increased and it got fixed, so now its faster than mi 6x ,lol.....then i got redmi note 5 which has the exact same material with redmi note 5 (Tianma TD4310) and its touch is fast ,So we can conclude that xiaomi fixed touch latency in redmi 5 plus and then released to redmi note 5 bcz the same touch sensor is used ,So i hope that mi 6x touch got fixed by getting updates in the future .xD

This may b that u may not notice to what i mentioned the problem..So plz scroll in setting app.and the content r moving slower than the thumb reached to the point. U may scroll everything backward and forward fastly and u may noticed, or compare with another devices like redmi note 5 side by side and scroll smth on both ph, u will notice, and Plz test type fastly and u may notice too much words errors
For Those ppl who didnt believe me ,here is the Test of Mi a2 from France and kindly use chrome and check the screen section they did really tested about latency and mi a2 ,same at my mi 6x hav too much high about 110 ms.,quite unacceptable tho..

and here is poco f1 test..also hav same with mi 6x too much high latency.

If you've got the NVT screen (Tianma), I was able to overclock it to 70HZ. It should definitely help with response and latency. I also optimized my kernel for latency using a lot of tweaks. Take a look at the beta group if you wanna try:

I came from Mi A1 to Mi A2 and A2 actually has lower latency or atleast that's my experience but compared to my Nexus 5 A2 has a lot of latency. Can't complain at this price point.

Overclocking Galaxy S10 Display to 84 HZ

Hi Guys,
As some of you know, There is currenty a mod for the Xiamoi Mi 9 which allows you to overclock the display's refreshrate to 84 Hz. Since the Mi 9 uses Samsng OLED panels, I'm wondering if any developers could possibly look into developing a similar mod for the Galaxy S10.
Here is is the Xiamoi Mi 9 thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/themes/mod-overclock-screen-to-84hz-t3942063
Would love to have this, hopefully us snapdragon can be rooted
That would be nice!
There was a rom in the dev section (not sure if it's still there) where the developer was saying that 90hz overclock is being tested. So it definitely can be done but not sure if it's still being worked on. Would love it though.

The user interface becomes much smoother and scrolling has a huge difference. Ask anyone with a OnePlus 7 Pro and they will tell you the same thing.
Any news ?
Any news?
If Xaomi can have 85hz refresh rate overclock on a super amoled screen then we should be able to get mod working on the S10, right? Since the S20 is coming soon with a rumored 120hz. Makes me want a higher refresh on my 10 even more.
Guys forget it... the S10 community isn't as good as it was years before. Most dev's don't care about the S10's.
Really wish this became true

Assuming that's true, I'm guessing it might be because the US market version of the S10 is so locked down.

Question Display PWM?

So from early videos of walkthroughs. It appears like there is no dc dimming included.
Does anyone that have the device mind commenting on the PWM flicker?
How is the flicker? Is there a DC dimming mode that is hidden in labs or developer options?
If not would you mind filming your screen in slow motion with another phone? Adjusting brightness to different levels 100% 75% 50% 25% and 0%?
And would you upload it here? That way I can judge the flicker level myself?
The Oppo Find X5 Pro which uses the same display (probably) was tested by notebookcheck at circa 370hz which is not too bad.
I was interested in this too.
I found this.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/PWM-Ranking-Notebooks-Smartphones-and-Tablets-with-PWM.163979.0.html?
Interestingly, the value listed on notebookcheck contradicts the value for the op8 pro one from DXO
Flicker, the display affliction - DXOMARK
All screens flicker to some degree, but what causes it on smartphones in particular, and how does DXOMARK test for it?
www.dxomark.com
So, I'm not sure what is accurate. As someone who is sensitive to pwm flicker, I can say that my present DD OP 8 pro is fantastic but I couldn't use the OP9 pro at all. Hard to say what OP10 pro will actually be like until you spend some time with it.
I picked up the OnePlus 10 Pro to try It for myself. Not a good experience initially.
How so? Care to elaborate?

It's a bit of an off-topic, but everyone is sensitive to pwm flicker, just some people's eyes hurt and others become irritable after a while or their concentration is impaired. If someone doesn't consciously feel flicker, it doesn't mean one's brain does not percept it and processes.

Question Stuttering and frame drops while video recording

Anyone else having frame drops and stuttering issues while video recording in Xiaomi 12 Pro ? I've already got the motherboard replaced from service centre still having same issue.
It mainly occurs if my device is overheating or close to it. Also when I zoom too fast while recording. Though it's not so much of an issue that I'm upset with it or anything. Machines have their limits.
Each and every video I came is full of stutter. No clean videos are coming out. Even it's not hot not do I zoom. I'm totally upset with it
You are not alone. Me and my significant other have both 12 regulars. Video recording is set on 4K30 nothing fancy. Each and every video has some dropped frames or some sort of stuttering. Really annoying.
Thinking about switching but there is nothing with same or comparable specs in this form factor. Really like Xiaomi though, would like to get this fixed
Had this issue too on my xm12pro (china). I figured out that it was WAY better when I switched from Xiaomi.eu rom to the official Xiaomi global Rom.
Anyways, it reads like you are on the official ROM, as your Mainboard got replaced, so I don't know if this is helpful for you - but maybe for others
We're on EU official ROMs also. I've tried everything. First approximately 5seconds a f video recording is stutter and frame drops. Switched both phones to performance mode bit that didn't help also.
I don't have this problem, what are your settings?
4k30 with phone running on performance profile. MME +3GB enabled as default, tried to disable that once to see if it's a memory issue, but nope.

Whether with a stock rom, Miui 13 A12, Miui 14 A13 or Xiaomi Eu rom never had this problem and the same with 8K.
Could be a faulty series..
What I would try to be sure and certain that it is a Hardware problem, use Miflash and flash a Stable Global rom. (V13.0.9.0.SLBMIXM) be careful if you have a Chinese version.
EDIT:
Have you tried setting the screen refresh to 60Hz/and lowering the resolution(FHD+)?

Something with codecs then perhaps? Also, Gcam might not have full API access but it definitely makes better photos during low light.
But yea, all videos uploaded or send to different devices are totally useless in my device, no matter the ROM. Only videos recorded with Gcam are okay. That is all I know.

Not really, 12 regulars doesn't mean anything, on the other hand Xiaomi 12 CUPID is precise or ZEUS,DAUMIER,DITING,,EARTH,MAYFLY,PLATO,PSYCHE,TAOYAO,UNICORN,THOR,all series 12.
None have the same characteristics.
Some problems may be common, others not and remain version specific.
This is why there are threads for each device.
Contrary to what you say the 12 pro Cn can have this problem.
Answers but no solutions, send it back as warranty.
