Is it just me or anyone else finds that their XZ3 is very unstable after Android 10 update?
It was already kind of slow although it was suppose to be quite good phone, but after Android 10 it is just annoyingly slow.
Can't have few apps running. For example, If I have firefox with youtube video playing and messenger active, it takes 5 seconds to switch between them. Reset didnt help much.
So the question is, is it just my phone or everyone noticed that it is slow now?
Problem Xperia XZ3
Have this phone myself. After the update to Android 10 many problems that you can find overall on the internet. Hopefully there will be a re-release for Android 10.
We need more information about the Android 10 update.
First of all, the XZ3 was participating in the Android 10 beta testing, so you'd have thought the official release of Android 10 would be less buggy than it might have been otherwise, as opposed to more.
Secondly, some people do not seen to be experiencing problems with the update. This always seems to happen with updates, especially major ones, and no solid reasons are ever found. because of the lack of details that users post when they have a problem.
I'm in the UK on O2, and XperiFirm shows that O2 have approved the update (and did so several weeks ago); but I can't get it, so presumably Sony have blocked it. I'm glad that they have, if there's a risk it could cripple my phone. What I woud like, however, is some information from Sony and Google/Android, stating the problems and if they're working on them or not. Sony specifically stated that the XZ3 will receive an Android 10 update, and then at least security-only updates for a while yet. Clearly something has got in the way of these definitively outlined plans, and I don't want to wait forever before someone either from Sony or O2 UK tells me why.
because of what I've said above, can people on here posting about the XZ3 Android 10 software update state their country and mobile provider please? When talking about software updates, either OTA or via cable, these details which don't take a second to mention are vital. Just the country won't do, and just the provider won't do.
As I have been trying to get answers from Sony support, though I`ll register just to share a message I got from them today:
"We have recieved a few reports regarding the issues that you are experiencing with your Xperia device.
We have escalated it further to our developers and they are currently investigating the issues.
We do unfortunately not have a set date for when or if there will be an update.
We thank you for your patience."
The "or if" part made me concerned...
But in the weekend I did completely reset my xz3 and so far have nothing to complain about - everything looks and works good (but I did the long road - didn`t use backup, but set everything from scratch (except Nova launcher settings).
Dont be. It hasn't even got a master update. We will probably get Android 11 as well since sony has a two year update policy.
Problem Xperia XZ3
I read this on internet but can not tell it is true.
Sony Xperia XZ2 & XZ3 Android 10 update re-released with the same software build version.
Sony started rolling out the stable Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ3 Android 10 update in early January 2020 following the release of the same OS to the newer Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 in late 2019.The update was released with software build version 52.1.A.0.532, tagging along all the goodness of Android 10 and a new security patch level to go with. But it wasn’t long after before annoying fingerprint and alarm bugs, among other bugs, started showing up on both Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 units that had just switched to the new OS.
While it’s sometimes usual for issues to pop up here and there after a major software update, this wasn’t the case after the Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 Android 10 update. As a result, Sony halted the rollout in order to fix the many issues in the initial firmware. Nearly three weeks later, the Japanese tech giant has now resumed rolling out the same update to the two series of devices. For some reason, though, the update is arriving with the same software build version 52.1.A.0.532 released last month, something that is causing confusion.
Despite keeping the same firmware version, we want to believe the re-released Xperia XZ2 and XZ3 Android 10 update has been patched and it’s now bug-free. But of course, we can only be sure after installing and actually using the updated firmware. Reports of people whose units have picked up the update are still scarce to come by, but a quick look at the Xpericheck website does confirm new firmware updates available for the Xperia XZ2, XZ2.
Yeah, all four devices are receiving their Android 10 updates with the same software version 52.1.A.0.532, but as usual with OTA updates, it may take some time before all units out there receive the download notification.
It is not a new version. It is the same buggy as hell one. When Sony fixes bugs, always changes the build number.
Problem Xperia XZ3
Today xperia update 52.1.A.0.618 arrived in the Netherlands
Fingerprint still not working correctly
For me the new update from 4th or 3rd of march wiped one app which I am not sure was it as I had 60 apps before update and now I see only 9.
nNyway they deleted or did something to ringtones bcs suddenly I can not find my beloved Eastern Sky ringtones in the stock ringtones folder.
Already did the clear cache/clear storage thingy for Medai Storage app but no the file is not in the phone anymore. I checked with total commander and was searching for the Eastern Sky ringtone but nothing at all.
So I have to download my beloved stock ringtone. WTF Sony ???
I hope now that they might have fixed the teething bugs with Android 10, O2 will deploy the update. Xperifirm tells/told me that they had approved the Android 10 update over a month ago, but obviously either Sony or O2 UK were holding it back, because I'm still on Android 9. I'm happy if that was because the update was defective, but I'm getting a little bit impatient now. It's easy for big companies to forget how much an individual has paid (for the phone and the contract) when it was over a year ago. I expect my XZ3 to be updated until December this year, when it will be two years old and I can have an upgrade/leave option.
Xperifirm tells me that O2 UK have approved the latest update, i.e. the second Android 10 version:
About 3 hours after I posted that, I got the update, OTA. Now I feel a bit silly.
I had this problem so I went through the settings and found a setting that had the mobile data running when connected to the WiFi so I turned that off and restarted my phone and its been running smoothly ever since.
After the latest updates 52.1.A.2.1 all bugs seems to be
fixed. no lag issues, fingerprint works good, HDR videos plays great. There is one issue with this device that battery drains fast.

Having owned and mostly loved the Omnia 7 since the start of the year, I really would like to sort out the little niggly issues such as the accidental pressing of the capacitive buttons during games and the fact that my phone seems to lose data connectivity every so often. From what I've read it seems likely that later firmware would solve these issues, but I'm wondering how the average consume would ever get these updates?
Whilst I'm happy to get my hands dirty if necessary, surely these updates need a route to the consumer at some point. I'd wondered if these might come through with NoDo or 7392, especially given the time those took to reach the Omnia 7, but having received the official updates I see that wasn't the case.
Anyone know if this stuff will ever be updated through official routes of any kind, or should I just dive in and find myself a suitable ROM?
thanks
When I updated my Omnia7 (3UK branded) to Nodo the official way, my firmware changed from JID/JIC to JK1. So it appears that firmware updates can be bundled with OS updates. If you have a branded phone I think your operator has to approve the update,as some friends on Orange UK did not receive JK1 update with NoDo. Hope that helps
The nice thing about updating officially is that you don't lose any data (savegame, texts etc) and you don't affect your warranty. Although it is annoying having to wait extra time for the updates. I'm hoping the capacative buttons fix will come with Mango...
Hi there,
I live in norway but i bought my xperia z3 compact (D5833) on ebay (from china). All seems to be great but i get programm and system updates all the time. I have upgradet as i was asked to do at least 3-4 times, but as soon as one upgrade is done the next one comes up? It sais version 23.5.A.0.575 android programm update this time. Is this the latest one? Is it usual one have to upgrade several times after receiving a new cell phone? it uses android 5.1.1 thanks for reply, regards, Rianna
Yes, this is normal and the 575 is the latest. This is an update to Marshmallow.
I'd be happy if it happenned to me
So recently my friend whom also has a huawei p9, showed me that he got an update on his phone. It was the android 7 with emui 5. I checked my phone settings to look for updates available, and unfortunately, my huawei says there are no available updates. Why is it the case? How can update my phone?
Thanks you all;

I dont know why huawei is always like that when it comes to updates. btw instead of checking or waiting for it come to your device you can look for tutorials here on how to manually flash the update. :good:
Huawei is not alone in this situation. So dont start bashing it so soon.
Right now, only 6.6% of ALL android devices is running on 7.0(data from official Android dev Dashboard).
And for update for P9, its mostly regional problem, so as @cheeze.keyk mentioned its best to update it manually.
But I seriously cant get my head around that idea of people crying for update... Because to be honest beside different number in phone settings, and few really small changes in look, there is no difference at all... its not like update will make your phone super-mega-ultra better than before or release some hidden features or make it super faster. Its just a bigger number in phone info...
And I can bet my own P9 that someone could put on your phone android 4.4 that just look like EMUI5 and you would not notice that...
When I still where using Sony devices, I rarely update them... and guess what? No problems at all, device was fast as always, there is no compatibility problems(honestly I have android TV that still work on 4.0 and I can watch YT or stream media without a problem...)
So overall if update dont change anything significant or fix some major problems, worrying about lack of update is not something that you should be sad about.
In some cases, making a hard reset, the OTA appears.
In my case it was the provider. After I changed the sim, nougat was there.

I have the same problem and it's not down to Huawei. My phone is a branded phone (Movistar , Spain) and it is up to them to release the update. After 5 months I am still waiting, God only knows why. For this reason I will never again buy a phone from a service provider, especially Movistar, as you pay for a top of the range phone and are reliant on them to release the update as and when they feel like it. I have just tried updating it myself but have only succeeded in de-branding it so need to try again. Could be that you have the same problem. Good luck.
XZ3 got 52.1.A.3.92 (August/September) while we're stuck on 52.1.A.3.49 (July). I think this is it unless they're just being lazy or skipping updates. Coincidentally the XZ3 came out October 2018 whereas the XZ2 came out in April 2018. The XZ1 stopped updates exactly 2 years after it came out, but one can still hope.
At least their newer devices (Mark II) have combined packages for regions unlike everything before it which is nice. No idea why they had to have 42 different versions with varying degree of update schedules for so long. One thing that still bugs me is why they have to have 2 versions per device instead of only having the option for just dual-sim which is way more cost effective since you can decide on either 2 sims or 1 sim + microsd. Their Mobile division has been suffering for so long so why they still do this is quite a mystery not to mention lock one or the other on a per-region basis. It must be a cultural thing or something.
Some regions of the XZ2/c/p devices got the 52.1.A.3.74 ~2020-08-24
But yes, I think that was the last one and only custom roms will give us future security updates.
(But only the SODP project gives us also security updates for the vendor partition.)
And yeah, nice to see that finally they reduce the amount of regions.
New firmware (52.1.A.3.137 ~ 2021-03-12) available for XZ3 and XZ2 family.

I believe for the time 52.1.A.3.137 is only available via OTA upgrade. I got OTA upgrade notifications on both XZ2 and XZ3.
One strange thing I got through is that I have a second XZ3 but the device hasn't got, at least yet, an OTA upgrade notification. I know that firmware time releases depend on carrier, software version etc but I have flashed my both XZ3 with the exact same 52.1.A.3.92 firmware in the past.
Both devices are 8416 model unlocked to any network and use the same carrier.
The only difference I found between two is that the one got the OTA upgrade notification for the 52.1.A.3.137 has "ETS Software Version :1313-0833_3A" and the other which didn't get any OTA has "ETS Software Version :1313-0833_5.
Anyway I am sure 52.1.A.3.137 will be released in the next few days on Xperifirm.
Xz3 will get full-screen mode? Is this just a security fix?
52.1.A.3.137 is now available on Xperifirm.
Anyone got any idea what this update is about? For some reason I can't find the security level on my XZ3 to check if it's a security level patch.

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my Sony Xperia XZ3 52.1.A.3.92 about sending WhatsApp audios. The problem is about an interruption of the voice after three seconds of recording, followed by silence. In a previous version of Android 10, I also had a really low volume, which has been fixed in my current release.
When I was notifyed by my phone about the new 52.1.A.3.137 version, I wondered if the WhatsApp bug had been fixed. Does anyone have informations about it?
I apologize for grammar mistakes, I am italian.
I just got 52.1.A.3.137 on my XZ2 Premium today and it nerfed half of my apps. Literally half of my apps either will not run or run for a few seconds and then exit. Of course, this was not the case before this update. Beware.
Try update apps.

Thank you for reporting your experience... Sony has released an incredible number of software versions full of bugs for its smartphones. My current release has some bugs, but I am getting kinda used to them.

I had the same experience with some apps on xz3. I think it is not about the firmware patch. It has to do with the android system Web view. Update it to the latest version 89.0.4389. 105(2021/03/23) and you should be fine. Hope that helps.

After messing with the phone for hours, I was able to remove the updates for the Google Play Services and Google Play. After they reinstalled themselves, everything was back to 100% normal again. Apparently, something about the firmware update was crashing my Google Play Services. It was really strange that some apps worked, no problem. But some apps would run once and then never again. Instead, they would either crash immediately or after a few seconds.
The problem I ran into at first was that Google Play Services wouldn't uninstall updates because it was in use or crashed. Once I was able to uninstall the updates, that triggered the system to install the latest versions and all was good again. Just glad I didn't do anything hasty like reset the phone before exhausting all else.
It is an essential fix for this bug with most XZ models including the XZ3 where you couldn't use Google Assistant hands free.
Made driving very dangerous for me hence the constant nagging, Sony acknowledged and finally brought the fix out.
Still waiting for the update here in the UK

Anyone saying the update nerfed their apps is probably overlooking the recent Google Webview breaking fiasco, just update your apps in Google Play Store or at least Google Webview, totally unrelated to the new Sony Xperia update imo.
OTA Update came through for me today as a 128.5 MB file size but will not install. Progress bar counts up the % complete increments but at the 100% complete stage it says "Could not verify" and then you just have the button again to tap on "Update" and start all over again. Restarting the phone a few times did not help either.

Probably your android attest key is missing.
Check your device status if it says "android attest key not provisioned".
That usually happens if you flash the device with newflasher and you didn't exclude persist.sin file.
This is really not a big issue as you can always download the firmware you want with xperifirm and flash your device with newflasher.
I have been doing a lot of checking ever since I purchased this unit and finally seen this article come up in my Google News feed. I can't not wait till it gets to the units in North America.

I've downloaded the update to android 11 and since then have had a major issue. My Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. And so far haven't been able to fix it, there's a lot of guides how to fix but none work. I've tried; forgetting the Wi-Fi, manually disconnecting and reconnecting, reset network data. All to no avail, and I'm the only in my house to experience this issue

Did you receive your update OTA or manual download and install? I just received an OTA but it was just the Jan 1st security patch
sorry about the delay, a couple of days ago (Friday I think, I'm in the UK) there was a notification on my phone saying a new software update was available. I downloaded it without a second thought because it was the phone software update. but since then whenever I connected to the Wi-Fi it would only stay connected for a few seconds. And I'm the only one in my house to have this issue. Just found update I installed (I think), it might've been the TCL UI update v3.0.8BBJ
Have to tried to reset your network settings, both cellular and wifi?
yes, tried that to no avail
Still no update even all the way almost to May for USA unlocked TCL 10L phone. I guess another company that takes their sweet time on updates.
I have received my Android 11 OS update for my 770B unlocked model, about a week ago actually. It is 3.0.8BC8 and if I'm not mistaken it was around 1.3Gb in size.
I just got update 2.0.3C.J.G pushed over the air (700B unlocked model as well) bought recently off Amazon, located in USA.
After installing, it said I had no updates, but if I manually check for updates, it offers my 3.0.8BC8 with Android 11 as well.
Strange, but very happy to be on 11.
Worth noting they took a lot of the TCL related bloat out of the Settings page on the 11 update compared to how it was on 10.
