I've done research over the last week or so, and pardon my ignorance for what I'm missing.
So, I'm trying to load android one ui 2.0 beta on my note 9 via sd card (model number sm-n960u). I know the beta files go in a certain oder, and I have all of them. But, each and every time i try to load the zip via sd card in recovery, it tells me "Error in sideload/package.zip (Status 7)"
Btw, I'm doing the sideload from sd card method because I dont have a computer. So using odin and smart switch isnt an option. And also, I'm on t-mobile on the December security patch update.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I have had my g1 for about a year now and I rooted it a few months ago. I've been trying to update the rom but everytime I try to format the sd card on my pc it says no disk found in drive F. I have tried it on other computers. I tried it via usb and a card reader. When I put update.zip into the root folder it says it cant find it. Please someone help! I need my phone to be amazing again!
Is the card formatted in Fat32?
Yeah its formatted to Fat32
you have to assign the a sd card a drive letter.
assign the sd card a drive letter.
How do I do this?
Well I just assigned it a letter and the same thing happens. I really am stuck.
What are you trying to update from? What update are you trying to apply? What recovery are you using? Do you have a file manager on your phone like androzip? If you can answer some questions, you may have a few workarounds....

You could try doin it with your phone (since you said you're rooted) using recovery
If you're using Cyanogen's recovery there's a good guide on androidandme.com
http://bit.ly/61CXFo
If you're using Amon_Ra's recovery I think it's automated, I've never used it before but from what I understand the you have the option to do it from the recovery menu
I'm currently running cyanogen mod 4.1.11.1 I'm not sure of the recovery image and I am trying to update to the next version of cyanogen. I think it might be a problem with my phone :S I really dont know. I have looked online and nothing seems to work I can put any update onto the sd card but when I try to update on my phone it says the file doesnt exist
it should say what recovery you are using in the recovery screen.
connect to wifi spot, download the new amon ra recovery, and move it from the download folder to the root of the sdcard using androzip (from the market).
follow the steps to flash the new recovery in the amon thread.
the next steps from there are up to you.....you can try to repartion your card using the menu option in recovery and then try to mount your g1 to your computer in the recovery menu. the recovery will allow you to choose what size partitions you want (fat32, ext, and swap) and do all of it for you. very handy.
once you get it to mount to your computer, you're in business.
if you think your card is ok as is, you could always download the htc file and cm4.2.6 directly to your g1, move them from download folder to sd root, wipe everything and flash.
either way, if you run into problems with your card, you maybe without phone until you get a good card.
good luck
Hey thanks for the great replies. Still no luck though I downloaded the amon ra recovery image and did what it said but when on the terminal emulator I type mount -a and it says 'mounting /dev/block/mmcb1k0p2 om /system/sd failed: no such file or directory'
Bump! PLEASE HELP ME
This nook is less then 12 hours old. I've been rooting, and roming for a while on G1's and many other devices. I am accustomed to the console and adb, and the sdk. I had it rooted withing 10 minutes of me getting it home. Then I updated the firmware from B&N 1.0.0 to 1.1.0 and now I can't get past the "Registering your device" . Connects to my wifi but I cant get any further from the registering device screen. Have no way to back out. Can I image an SD card to the old firmware and boot from it? Since the internal has been flashed already am I screwed? I have to revive about 12 nook colors. And will compensate.
No... you should be fine. Download iMonster's bootable CWR and burn image to an SD... this should allow you to boot into CWM.
On a separate SD, download one of the stock ROMs (zip format) that can be found on these forums. From there...
Boot into CWM... under "Mounts & Storage"... Format System, then Format Data...
Once done, back out into the main screen and select:
"install from zip file"
then insert SD card which contains the stock rom...
then select "find file on SD card"
navigate to the file and viola!!!! In a few minutes you will be back in business.
I think the issue is that you attempted to update the stock update over a rooted install. This is not supposed to work and at the very least will break root (like it does on phones). If you read the various posts for the different Nooter variants they are pretty specific about upgrades over Nootered NCs. Give this a shot as well if the above link doesn't work for you:

This should be marked SOLVED. Thanks for your help guys!!
[SOLVED] Updated firmware to 1.1.0 and stuck
Please mark as solved or delete thread! Thanks!
The AMOLED screen on my Nexus One broke, so, I sent it for repair to a dealer cause there is no official HTC support for Nexus One in India. Before I sent the phone I took a backup of my SD card and also removed it from the phone.
After I got the phone back with the new screen installed, I put in my SD card and it says Blank SD card or unsupported file system. So, I tried different SD card and the same thing popped up with every card I put in. It would ask me to format the card and even if I formatted, it would not mount the SD card. The SD cards work in all other phones and SD card readers.
So, I sent the phone back to the repair guy and he said that its most probably a software bug because if it was a hardware bug then the error message would not pop up at all. He said that it would be best to reflash the ROM but then he tried and the ROM could not be reflashed.
Now the Phone is with me and everything works except for the SD card. Plugging the phone in the computer also doesn't help as the card is not being mounted by the phone at all.
The phone I am using is a Nexus One with stock ROM Android 2.3.4 (never rooted or hacked).
Please help me find a solution to this. I'm even ready to install a custom ROM but can't do so without an SD card.
Please help!!!
Ok well android can't find the SD card but lets see if your bootloader can if not then send it in for repairs again because it's not software. Check my sig there is a link that says passimg try those instructions and tell me what you get.
Hey,
Thank you for the response but most of the instructions require the SD Card. However, in my case as you know the SD Card itself is not functioning. So even if I download the Passimg file, I can't place it on the SD card.
Is there a way to use ADB to wipe the phone completely and then reinstall the original factory stock ROMS?
I did go back to the vendor and asked him to repair the device but after a heated argument he just said that the device's SD card is working but it is not recognizing the cards in it which he said is because of a software bug and for that you need to re-flash the device completely but he didn't have the means to do it, so now I'm left with an unusable phone.
So, in shot can I do the whole reflash thing without the SD card working?
Thank you for responding, you're the only one so far whose come to the rescue. Waiting to hear from you.
Thanks
Hey,
So I just understood the full extent of your recommendation. You wanted me to check if the bootloader detects the Passimg file or not given that booting into Android is not doing that.
As per the instructions on the passimg page I need to download the FRG83 ROM and apply the update. But I'm just wondering if I do this and if the bootloader actually detects the update on the SD card, won't I also need to downgrade the HBOOT version or is it jut safe to apply the downgraded FRG83 over the GRJ22 build that I currently have on the phone?
The details of my phone are as follows:
Nexusone pvt Ship S-ON
HBOOT-0.35.0017
MICROP-0b15
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0103
RADIO-5.08.00.04
Oct 12 2010, 14:33:16
Please guide as per your convenience,
Thank you.
I'm not 100% sure but I'd assume that if you do as what you're planning to do.. the HBOOT should also be flashed automatically with the rom. double check incase!
Hi Again,
So, I took the risk and downloaded the FRG83 ROm loaded it into my SD card using a different phone and then put that card into the SD card slot of the Nexus One.
I went into the boot loaded and it automatically detected the PASSIMG.zip file and asked me whether I want to install the Update - I chose YES.
The update installed successfully and I booted into Android. After finishing the Wizard, I checked the Android Version and it says FRG83 but when I look at the notification bar it still shows me the same error "Blank SD card or has Unsupported File System".
So, we can conclude that the SD card and the SD slot work fine.. Any thoughts on what could be done next?
Well that's weird ok well lets see what the computer says. Put the card back in that other phone and connect it to the computer then on the computer go to computer then right click the card (probably E: maybe F: ) then go to properties and check file system make sure it's FAT32.
Not sure if it's wort posting on this thread still, but lots of people come searching for a solution to this problem so I figured I'd post at least another thing to try.
I've had this happen several time on various Android phones. I've been able to bring the card back every time. I throw the card into my micro usb reader, pop it in my computer, and run disk utility (I don't know what equivalent would be for Windows). You should see your SD card come up and see your main data partition there below it. Click on the partition and click repair in the bottom right.
It will run through some stuff and you'll be able to see if it's found anything in need of repair and if it repaired it.
The few times this has happened to me Disk Utility said it was an empty block at beginning of some data or something...
YMMV

When I had this exact problem, I had to replace the SIM/Micro SD flex board to fix it. They were $15 shipped on eBay at the time.
Alright, I was struggling with a useless internal SD Card on my CDMA (sprint) Galaxy Tab, so I basically opened it up and popped the bugger off.
Installed stock rooted GB, it works fine, but I want my ICS.
My external SD Card has two partitions (big FAT32 one and a 2 gb EXT4 one).
While installing CM 9.1 stable, after selecting install zip from SD card the flashing begins but I get a Status 7 Assert Failed (run_program("tmp/updater.sh","cdma") == 0).
I assume its because the installer detects that I only have one SD card and thus thinks this isn't a standard CDMA Tab so I wont let me install.
I tried removing 4 assert lines from the update script, however the same assert fail keeps popping up.
Any ideas guys? I really want ICS or JB on this device (its a gift for my dad).

I've rooted and installed a new ROM for my friends HTC sensation XL called Total Sensless. Upon installation i forgot to edit the vold.fstab file in order for my sd card and internal storage to be able to be read. However I'm also stuck in a bootloop. i cant access the sd card from recovery to flash the same Rom with the edited vold.fstab and i cant seem to push a ROM via adb onto my phone as the internal and sd card memory isn't recognised. Any help would be save me paying from breaking my friends phone, i really need help.
Thanks heaps

First of all, make sure you read things before doing things, secondly, you should have S-OFF'ed the phone, most probably that is the reason why you are in a bootloop, so the best thing for you would be to find the device CID, and if you find a RUU to match your CID, then you are lucky and can start all this thing from scratch.
Or, you could use any of the tools Multi-Tool, AIO, whatever, and install another custom Recovery, and mount USB from there, see what happens.
I gave the RUU a try and tried flashing one that seemed to match but it kept showing an error saying "unable to update your android phone please get the right ROM Update Utility :/
I'll try installing a new recovery and let you know how it goes
Thanks a heap man

And it worked i flashed TWRP using AIO tool and then mounted the USB storage and then reinstalled the origianl ICS Rom back on.
Thanks a tonne, wouldve had to pay for a replacment, means a lot :good:
