Atempt to update software/Brick? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

Hi,
I bought Redmi K20 Pro GLOBAL version on Aliexpress in June. The settings showed that this is Mi9T pro.
It has MIUI 10 9.5.31 Top Secret global beta software. I was waiting and waiting to get a software update, but I never got it.
Today I have decided to install the latest software version. I have downloaded Mi Flash tool, Mi9T pro global version and Redmi K20Pro Indian. I think I have started flashing Mi9T global (which was my mistake probably)
I enter the destination of the folder in the bar, I have clicked refresh and flash, everything went properly.
Mi and android logo appeared, and after that appeared recovery menu with information that this version of software can't be install. I have tried to install the second software. I have downloaded other versions but I have been blocked on Mi Flash tools, I'm getting a message "erase boot error" or simple "error" it depends on the version of soft.
What I can do now to have a working phone ? It doesn't matter for me what kind of software I will have here, I can also have a custom ROM.
Phone during starting was showing information "unlocked". Currently, I have access to Fastboot, recovery mode and is properly recognized by Mi Flash tool, but nothing more.
What should I do next, and which version of software choose?

Refurbished ??
Sent from my Redmi K20 Pro using Tapatalk

What do you mean by Refurbished ?

you need to re-unlock it because you selected erase data and lock, so.

Only solution is edl mode with authorized account.. google for that it has plenty tutorial

I don't understand why I need to do edl, if the phone is soft bricked. I understand that I was flashing phones several years ago, but then If the phone was soft bricked it need only tried again.
New steps which I have done:
- I have added a phone number to the mi account
- I have tried to unlock bootloader using Mi flash unlock 3.5 but after device verification appeared the message "Couldn't unlock. Please add your account in Miui's settings -> which currently is impossible
- I have tried to unlock bootloader using Mi flash unlock 2.2.4 but after device verification appeared message "Update to the latest version"
- I have installed fastboot and ADB -> I have tried to unlock a phone from the command line but it only reboots with information (FAILED (remote: Token Verify Failed, Reboot the device)
- I have still access to Fastboot and Recovery mode
What I should do next?
I should write message to Xiaomi support or what?
I will be very thankful if you guys suggest some page or video which can help me.
I'm really pissed off that they're selling phones, without information for which market they are prepared and then there are problems with upgrades.

You bought a Chinese K20 Pro not a Global Version.
The phone will have been advertised as Global ROM - not Global Version.
The phone was flashed, either by the seller or his supplier, with an unofficial version of global MIUI. These phones never get OTA updates as it is an unofficial ROM.
Xiaomi have done nothing wrong, the issue, if there is one, is with the seller on AliExpress. However the seller will have advertised it as being a Chinese phone with global ROM. I bought mine from AliExpress around the same time. All sellers where advertising correctly as global ROM, not global version. They all stated in the details that if you choose the global ROM option, they open the box to flash the global ROM (which at the time didn't officially exist)
It is well known on these forums that flashing with the Mi Flash Tool defaults to locking the bootloader after flashing. It's also widely known that locking the bootloader when cross flashing regions will hard brick the phone, especially Chinese to Global, or Global to Chinese flashing.
You have made the error by not changing the default flash option in the Mi Flash Tool. This was your responsibly to understand how to firstly flash using this tool.
Search the guides section of these forums for fixing your problem, there are a few of them. However, as has been previously said, it will require edl flashing, which does require you to open the back of the phone to access the test points. You will also need to contact someone with an authorised service account to remotely flash the phone for you. They will charge you for this, prices vary between US$15-30. You should be able to find a WhatsApp number in the threads you find.
Going forward, when you get things restored. Remember to always change the flash option to 'clean all' at the bottom of the Mi Flash Tool.
Also you can delete the flash_all_lock.bat file from the fastboot ROM after unzipping it. Then if you forget to change the flash option the flash tool will fail.

You bought new fresh device or Refurbished one ?
If it's new one, why you gone for AliExpress ?

trust me only solution is edl (with testpoint),using authorized mi account to flash in edl mode.

Can I somehow do it by myself ?
How can I get authorized Mi account?

there is no way to get authorized account anymore, u need to find someone to do it for yourself over TeamViewer. Or service centar.

Locked bootloader | MiUI version can't be installed on this device | OEM block

Hello all!
I have Xiaomi mi9t pro from chine. By MiFlash i installed newest global rom on phone. I chosen "flash_all_lock" script. After successful install (communicate in MiFlash) phone won't boot up. There is a message "MiUI version can't be installed on this device". I can't unlock boot-loader for install new rom again because Mi Unlock give me a message "Please add your account in MIUI's settings > developer option > Mi unlock status"
Before this, i successfully installed same rom file but with option "flash_all.bat" and it worked.
How i can fix this?
For any help thanks

You have hard bricked your phone. It can only be fixed by EDL flashing with an authorised Mi account, which are accounts used by authorised repair centres.
You can not cross flash regional ROMs and lock the bootloader
https://c.mi.com/thread-2584760-1-0.html
Easiest way to fix it is to get an authorised repair centre to restore the phone. If there is none near you it can be done yourself, with assistance.
To put the phone in EDL mode, you need to open the back of the phone and bridge 2 pins near the battery. To flash it you need to find someone with an authorised account who will remote desktop to your PC and flash the phone - for a fee of $25-$50 US
Search the forums on EDL flashing for exact details of the pin locations.
Ask on Xiaomi/Mi 9T Pro telegram groups for contact details of someone who can remotely flash your phone - as it's against XDA policy to 'promote' paid services here. XDA mods have actively removed posts that contain contact details of people who can remote flash Xiaomi devices for a fee.

Question Can't Unlock bootloader (remote: 'Token Verify Failed, Reboot the device ')

So recently I purchased a Redmi note 10 Pro Max and it's pretty nice so far but yea there's one problem MIUI. I'm not really a big fan of it so I really wanna change it but I've been trying that since couple of days now I can't really use any miunlock tools because I'm on Mac. I've tried every command to unlock ./fastboot oem unlock and whenever I use this command it says this (FAILED (remote: 'Token Verify Failed, Reboot the device')
I've turned oem unlock thing in developer options and turned on usb debugging.
and ./fastboot flashing unlock (this one doesn't work at all) so is there any way to unlock the bootloader so I can install twrp then a custom rom. And there was also I thing I would like to know does installing a custom rom or recovery void your warranty I mean like in future if my phone's display stop working or some speaker problems would they still repair it ??? Thanks a lot

Depend on your country/region Xiaomi/Redmi warranty policy.
If warranty is void after unlock bootloader, then no.
If warranty is not void after unlock bootloader, then when you need warranty support for hardware, better flash official MIUI back into phone. The recovery should also change back to official ones.
Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco warranty is different between countries and regions, so you have to lookup on their website yourself.
Thanks a lot. I'll definitely check it out also I'm thinking to install Pixel Experience do you think it is a good rom for this phone?

I had this error too. And i figured out what was wrong. It's easy:
1. Log in on your xiaomi account
2. Enable developer options in Settings > About Phone by repeatedly tapping MIUI Version.
3. Enable USB debugging
4. Go to developer options and enable "OEM Unlocking"
5. Also in developer options is sth like "MI unlocking status" click on it, and scroll down to button "add account and device", click on it, you need to parry phone with your xiaomi account
6. Use tool to unlock device/follow instructions in that app. ( default one - miflash unlock, or - XiaoMiTool V2). I dit it using miflash unlock,

There is a fix for this here. The project is mostly abandoned so you have to manually rebuild it after changing the login URI.

Here are the exact steps if you need it. The instructions are for linux, but similar steps worked for me on both linux and windows. I skipped steps 4 and 5 and just used the gradlew included in the repo. You can find more info and troubleshooting here but feel free to PM me if you run into issues.
I recompiled the program but I am blocked at phone detecting. Perhaps there is no way to do this
Hi Please help for this ..
I have Redmi 8 (China) and sim port is broken , Currently i can't use any goolge service , so i want to change global or some other rom . Sim port is broken so can't add Mi account Official unlocking way . I tried with these cmd fastboot flashing unlock and it show

Bricked Mi 9. Please help.

I have a Mi 9 Global that I had previously unlocked. I decided for some reason that I wanted to use Google Pay/NFC, so I downloaded and flashed the latest global ROM. I chose the "clean all and lock" option, because I wanted to lock my bootloader. The ROM flashed and said it was successful, but it doesn't boot and has the "This MIUI version can't be installed on this device.". Now I can't boot my phone and the bootloader is locked. I can get into recovery or fastboot, but that's it.
I've tried every option and software I could find, but nothing works. XiaoMiTool V2 doesn't recognize the device. When I manually select it (I choose cepheus Mi 9) and try to unbrick it, it checks the chinese stable and chinese developer options and then gives an error that it cannot find any rom that can recover my device.
I've searched every forum and Youtube video I could find over many days and short of opening it up and shorting the pins, I'm out of options. Even that won't work without an authorized Xiaomi account.
Can anyone help? I've read that others have had luck with having someone remote into their PC and help.

AFAIK, you will need to seek for somebody with EDL account (paid help)
Although you wanted to relock, you should flash first without relocking and later, only when you make sure it boots, then you use the tool once again to relock

Clicked on wipe and lock

Hi everyone,
I have a k20 pro and it was working fine but never got updates so I decided to update by flashing.
The device was unlocked at the start, i got MIUI 12.5 global and flashed with miflashtool.
but wipe and lock was active.
now the phone comes up to the recovery menu and says the miui version is not for this device.
When I try to flash to another version, miflashtool says the device is locked,
when I try to unlock, miunlock says go to settings >developer options> mi unlock status.
Gave it to a repair shop for 1.5 months and nothing. I live in Iran so no authorized service centers here.
I have access to fast boot mode.
so is it dead?
Fastboot flash recovery.img?
If you have access to fastboot your should be able to flash a custom recovery. I would recommend flashing miui eu roms (via custom recovery) over the official miui. Eu tends to be a little more optimized and a fair amount debloated.
Worth a try?
Well I can't flash anything i think, but i'm a novice.
See when i try to flash anything with Miflashtool it says the device is locked.

I'm guessing you have a Chinese K20 Pro.
Your phone is now hard bricked and there is nothing you can do to fix it by yourself.
You can not lock a Chinese phone when installing a global ROM (also true the other way round).
The only way to fix the phone is by EDL flashing. This can only be done by someone with an authorised Xiaomi service account.
There are people who will flash your phone remotely, for a fee. The best place to ask is on the K20 Pro /Mi 9T Pro telegram group.
If you find someone, you will need to put the phone into EDL mode before they can flash it. This requires removing the back and bridging 2 pins near the battery. You should be able to find videos that show you how to do this.
thanks mate.
I will bring it to another shop then and see if they can do it.

Redmi K20 Pro - This MIUI version can't be installed on this device

I have a Redmi K20 Pro 8GB RAM 256GBROM
It came with a 12.0 Global MIUI
I ran the bootloader unlocker from Xiaomi, it worked the first time
Then I flashed it with: miui_RAPHAELGlobal_V12.5.2.0.RFKMIXM_edbf5f63e8_11.0.zip
It locked the bootloader.
I now only get the menu: MIUI Recovery 5.0
I can no longer run the bootloader unlock, it fails on the second step and says "Please add your account in MiUI's Settings > Developer options > Mi Unlock status. The phone won't boot even using safe mode.
I don't remember if I ever signed in to the phone with my Mi account, I suspect not.
I'd like to confirm that I used the right ROM, does the K20 Pro and the 9T Pro use the same ROM?
So how can I unlock the bootloader?
What do I need to flash on this to go to 12.5. I don't use What's App so I don't care about those issues.
Is 12.5 and option? If not where can I get the latest ROM I can use?
Supposidely you used Mi Flash. You have two options there, like Clean All and Lock (unfortunately, offered by default) and just Clean All
Apparently you overlooked and left Clean All and Lock and as a result you locked your Bootloader
That's a common mistake and the way many people brick their phones. If anything goes wrong while flashing (wrong firmware, error in download, problems with cable, whatever), the result will be:
- phone cannot boot because of that error in flashing
- you cannot flash again since you already re-locked your Bootloader
Fortunately, I have no first-hand experience but I've seen many similar posts/questions and answers
AFAIK, you have two options now.
One, to look for somebody with EDL authorized account to remotely flash and unbrick your phone.
It will be a paid service and due to the XDA policies all posts providing such contacts are purged from XDA. You have to look to eg Telegram support groups to find them
The other option is in finding and using the so-called firehose file and method.
Tthat way you could unbrick the phone by yourself but you really need to google and/or search on XDA to find more details about
Sorry, that's all I could help you
