I am adding a new thread because this is a very peculiar issue and i still feel something is really wrong in my N4 settings but i have seen some similar or even worse cases with some old gen nexus devices and i have tried some workarounds which don't seem to work so far.
Here is the problem description:
I cant play any videos in Facebook or Twitter official apps.
Facebook says "Error occurred while trying to play this video"
Twitter end up with a black screen and shows nothing( some 1 out of 10 times it acts as audio only with black screen again)
Strange thing is I cant play fb or twitter videos even in chrome browser in my mobile.
Youtube or other players work fine (Vimeo etc.)
Near about everything else works. Youtube app or browser playback is fine with no issues. Mx player runs fine too.
Some background about my device settings:
Android 5.1.1 stock, not rooted
Its using AwesomePlayer instead of NuPlayer in dev options.
There was one time when i was not able to play any video in my device because nuplayer was selected once by mistake and changing to AwesomePlayer helped.
But after that issue around 6 months back, i have done complete factory reset and everything was working fine for 3-4 months, i started getting this issue in last two months or so.
I read some similar issues in Nexus 7 2013 with Android Lollipop but not exactly this.
Is anyone else is facing or had ever faced anything like this?
Any suggestions on how to get rid of this? Don't want to factory reset again.
I have tried all usual things like clearing cache, reinstalling those apps but i think this issue is something else as i cant even play those videos in browser too.
Again i enabled the dev options last week and thought changing to NuPlayer might help but that also didnt help. All others settings are default settings.
PS: Intentionally not posting as Q&A as i believe some other older gen nexus devices are facing similar issues with new updates so this might fit well as discussion thread.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note its solved: Reason was the older version of Android System Webview app. Updated it and this issue went away. Hope this helps others facing similar issue.
I think it's something about google webview apk...do you have this app??

What Android System Webview APK do you have installed? (This is essentially the applet which allows 3rd Party apps to access the web). The latest version, 45.0.2454.37 came out yesterday. While I have had this same issue in the past with older Webview versions, yesterdays seems to be working just fine. Go to the Play Store and update to the latest version and see if that resolves.
Yes i have this, In my device it says the version is 44.0.2403.90 and it says its up to date. So maybe the update is not out yet for my region. It makes sense that this is responsible for it as i have auto update on and some new version might be causing this.
What do you guys suggest should i uninstall/reinstall this. Or maybe get an older version?
Thanks for your help.
Btw, Facebook video playback issue affects other device too, not only the Nexus 4. It happened on my aunt's phone.
Plus it's not a Lollipop issue, my aunt's phone is still on 4.2.2, and I had my Nexus 4 at 4.4.4.

Go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ebview-45-0-2454-37-arm-android-apk-download/ and you can download the latest Android System Webview module and not have to wait for it to become available to you in the Play Store.

A solution for another possible N4 video playback issue
I came across this thread searching for a solution for for my video playback issue, with my N4 unable to play videos occasionally.
I eventually narrowed down the problem to firefox, and setting
Code:
media.android-media.codec.enabled=false
in about:config finally solved the issue I had for years.

I tried this. It didn't fix the playback issue for me, but before it shows a still thumbnail and the player but now there's nothing. Just a grey box.
I installed update A1PV1.0.0B25 this morning and tried to take a photo in Bokeh mode and get, "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped," message. Then, I attempt to take photo in regular mode, the shutter click sounds, but no photo is taken. Not sure what other problems there are yet, but...PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Not sure what the fix is other than rolling back the update (if possible). Ironic in that this update was supposed to improve camera function. The video camera functionality appears to be working correctly.
Good to know! Thank you for the warning. I saw the notification about the update this morning but I am at work so didn't want to update until I got home. Now I may wait awhile to see if they know about this and will fix it soon.
Stinks though, as when I saw the notification I was actually a bit excited to see there was an update and for the camera especially! On well. Guess they need more thorough testing procedures...
It Breaks Google Camera Too!
I wish I hadn't been in such a rush to upgrade. This is extraordinarily bad. Didn't they QA this? As well this probably means that the marshmallow update won't be until probably mid to late Q1. I had got excited with the first update that they would update quickly. I guess that was wishful thinking. I really regret getting this phone.
Google Camera doesn't work as well. When you try and run it you see "Camera error - there was a problem saving your photo or video".
I got this phone mainly for the audio chip and its cheaper price even with these high end specs. So far my only complaint is with the camera, as I think it could be clearer and better. Image stabilization would help a ton. But like you I find myself questioning my choice. Looking at that BlackBerry Priv, but man, is that expensive!
Hopefully they can figure out the camera issues and release another update soon.
Dont update!
I was an idiot and updated this morning without checking this forum. I should have waited because now I have no camera. I can't take pictures, I can't take screenshots, this is a complete waste. Doesn't zte test this before releasing. Obviously not.
No response yet from ZTE support
I hit up their support on the website. Haven't heard anything back yet. Not holding my breath either. If I hear anything from, I'll make sure to update. In the meantime, it might help if those of us who were suckered into installing the update hit up their support and let them know. Y'know...in case they're inclined to think it's not a widespread issue, which it looks like it is.
Wow this is a bummer. Did anyone have a successful update?

Glad to hear the update is good-to-go for you. So maybe the update isn't bad in and of itself, but may be busting the camera due to some incompatibility with something installed on some phones, but not on others. What could that be? I have no idea, but I think I see a factory reset in my very near future.
Oh, wow. On the phone with ZTE "VIP" support. They are effectively telling me "you can try a reset" and if that doesn't work "not our problem".
Seriously, So If the update messes up the device you are on your own? ?

OK, a further update after being on the phone with ZTE support for 1 1/2 hours. It appears that the upgrade had been cancelled because of problems with the release. I was offered a new device with the older release if a reset did not fix the problem.
However ZTE support could provide no transparency on when a new release could/would be available and ZTE provide no way to put in a proper support ticket for tracking purposes.
@gflash2015 Well at least they offend a new device. I rolled the dice and updated just now, hoping it would resolve my light and proximity sensor bug (both stopped working last week). Smooth sailing so far no sign of any of the bugs mentioned. Didn't fix the sensors though. Camera launches much faster now.

does wifi calling work on networks otherthan t mobile or this update is oly for t mobile customers
there is an uninstallable app that was included in the update ZTE rewards it sucks that i cant remove it.
I just tried doing a factory data reset and that seemed to clear up the camera/screenshot issues. It also managed to keep the phone on the B25 build so WiFi calling for T-Mobile was added along with the double-tap of the camera button to launch the camera.

I decided not to do the update. But I just checked to see I still could and its saying my phone is currently up to date. So they did take the update away until they fix it. I don't know...
Update was messed up for me. I called tech support got a human in two rings. Reset the data via settings<apps<all<media storage then force stop and clear data.
This will wipe out your photos so make sure everything is backed up.
Everything works great now.
It took me only an 11 minute phone call.
The tech said there will be a patch out Monday. He also confirmed a marshmallow update is in the works.

Hello guys, I'm very desperate to find a solution to my problem, which is that when I record a video (with the stock camera) and try to send it through whatsapp it later kind of converts itself in a slow motion video (I DON´T HAVE IDEA HOW THE F* IT DOES THAT). If I watch the video recorded with the stock camera on the gallery it looks normal, nothing weird, but after I send it to someone through whatsapp the video now has bad audio synchronization and the movements look like if it was a slowmo video.
I've already tried uninstalling, previous versions of whatsapp, tried installing the most recent versions of it downloaded directly from their official web page, I even unrooted my phone reinstalled my official rom which is PL10 - B839 (Emui 3.1 - Lollipop 5.1.1), I did the factory reset...but nothing have fixed this utterly annoying problem. I don't know what else I can try, please help me guys!!!
You didn't need to do all that. WhatsApp has limit on file size you can send and it changes the framerate when you try sending a big file size video. The best way around this is to lower the quality of the video recording in camera settings.
Hi @HowlingSoul, did you get a solution for this? My wife has it on her phone (Huawei) as well. I can't get rid of it! Uninstalled / Reinstalled Whatsapp, cleared phone storage, reset full phone including full format but to no avail.
@sarcastical; it's not that at all. It happens with short videos, long videos etc etc. The sound is still in actual "rate" so to say. Lowering the camera settings has 0 impact.

No, I haven't found a solution for this problem and WhatsApp still doesn't give me a reply for my email explaining it. Maybe you can also send an email to them to this address [email protected]. If you have rooted your devices I recommend unrooting them and testing if the problem goes away (in my case it didn't, I just rooted my phone to change the font style). I had to send the email directly from Gmail because when I sent it through WhatsApp - Contact Us they saw that I had root in my device and just ignored my email. Please keep sharing everything related to this so we can find a solution.

Sorry was gone for a bit ...
It all of a sudden worked for 1 day! I got a nice video of my kid in actual motion. Of course I hadn't changed anything. But then the next day all back to slow motion again ... I will send them an email. My phone is unrooted.

Hi guys!! I have good news, with the new update (2.16.107) the video problem is gone! now I can normally record a video (even a 1080p video) and send it through WhatsApp and it will look normal and the audio is now properly synchronized too! Please, tell me if the update works for you too.
They didn't answer my email though.

Hi guys! Well.....this issue exists as of today with the P9 Plus! Also there are issues with Snapchat too, where the camera auto zooms and other sound issues. Why does Huawei keeps having these odd camera issues with the most popular apps! We just hope they fix it with an update soon....maybe never!
Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but I've searched and can't seem to find this issue anywhere so am in need of help.
Issue:
Open camera (stock) on the P9 and take photo, shows up in the gallery box in corner, if I exit camera photo is fine. The problem arises if I then try to take another photo straight after the first i.e. person didn't smile the camera won't take a photo and when I exit and re-enter camera (or gallery) the photo is just green lines.
I've played around with settings and changed memory card but am still getting the same issue, is there something I'm not doing setting wise or is it a fault with the camera?
Thanks in advance.
You mean like the one below? I've had it happen to me a few times - primarily during low light shots. If I exit the camera app and come back, the next set of photos then seem to be fine.
I think it's a software problem - I recollect seeing a change log for build 136 which indicated there was a fix for it. I'll try to find the log and post the relevant details.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes exactly like that one, however it's during any kind of shot not just low light ones. I have had the problem since I had the phone and initially the problem did go away if I exited the app and came back but now it's every time, the only way to not have that happen to the photos is if I exit and renter after every photo - which kind of spoils the spontaneity.
Thanks I'd appreciate that.

Here's an image showing the relevant content for the B136 update.
Thanks for that, I've tried downloading the B136 about 5 times now, from different locations and following different instructions, unfortunately it either fails or once downloaded the extraction fails or the software install fails.
Just to say thanks again, I downloaded it to PC and copied it across instead and it's updated and solved the issue.

Glad to hear that 136 fixed your issue. What version of the P9 do you have? And what build have you downloaded?
I'm on the 134 build for my P9 L-09 - still waiting for the update for my geo (C636).
Hola! amigos
some days ago my phone (VOG L29) got 10.0.0.178 (C605E19R1P3) OTA UPDATE I happily proceed to install the update.
so now with Android 10 i have been having some problem with Whatsapp when i try to send a photo from the gallery it freeze when i try to select a pict to send it i need to shutdown the app.
the only temporary fix that i found is reboot the phone but the problem will appear again in a random time.
What I have tried to do:
i reinstalled whatsapp
tried other version directly from the website
delete the cache and the problem persist
Does anyone know how I can solve this problem?
I tried to find some information about this problem but I can only find people with pixels or oneplus and the problem was solved with a system update.
What helped me:
1. Delete WhatsApp data
2. Uninstall Whatsapp
3. Cache partition cleared
4. Whatsapp reinstalled
Everything works as it should

Yep, i got same issue! For me it's here since first EMUI10 update...
Yes, sometime freze gallery & also vowifi option not show in Indian varients & still 1 Nov patch 10.0.0.173 Build
Same problem here!
I had the same issue, although the fix above appears to have fixed it for now
I'm also facing same issue... You can share pic from gallery to WhatsApp and that works without issues
I had a problem with WhatsApp images in Google Photos after updating to 10.
The restore chucked all my WhatsApp images into yesterday's date! I thought I'd lost photos until I realised the first long section for yesterday was all WhatsApp images from forever! I can only assume that WhatsApp didn't properly tag then with correct dates, and so restore out then as the restore date? Anyhow for a fun day trying to reset them all in web version if I can [emoji849] as it synced it across all my devices in minutes.

This is completely normal behaviour for the P30 Pro, all 3 camera sensors are different so you get a drastic change in quality & focus when switching it's just a adjust period when switching, this is why the likes of Sony opted for 16MP on all 3 sensors so the change wasn't as drastic when switching between sensors
there seems to be a general photo problem in Android 10
there seems to be a general photo problem with android 10. many other users of different brands like sony xperia, oneplus etc. also have problems with whatsapp and gallery photos.
