I have a sony z3c with a broken microphone. So I thought, I can use this great phone as an music-, podcast- and audiobook-player. Just ike the Sony NW A100.
But when I connect a bluetooth speaker or headphone to that device there are only 15 steps to increase or decrease the volume. And the lowest volume possible is way to loud to listen podcast late at night on my JBL go 1 or 2. Also the volumechange between two steps is to heavy.
Normaly I use my Samsung Galaxy S8 to play audiofiles. There are also only 15 Steps to change the volume. But I can change “media volume sync” in the bluetooth advanced settings to change the volume of the smartphone and the speaker separately, which fixed my problem. On some sony smartphones in the developer options you can toggle "Disable absolut volume", but on my z3c this option is nowhere to be found.
But that’s not possible on the z3c. I tried apps like “Precise Volume“, some tweaks in the Xposed framework and ViPER4Android. Even some custom rom. But nothing worked.
With some tweaks or ViPER4 Android I could get the volume lower (by reduce the output gain or lover all frequencies in the EQ). But then, when I change the volume, sometimes 2 or 3 steps remain on the same volume.
Does any of you have any Idea how to help my with my problem? It’s been two month now, that I tried everything to fix it, but till today, I don’t found any solution...
idk exactly, but maybe you can take this a hint for furter research on that topic:

I am wondering if anyone can exploit a glitch in the bluetooth audio volume on the xperia T
As most of you will no doubt be aware the bluetooth volume is rediculously low on the xperia T, i believe its low on most android phones?
However I have found that with all of volumes at max, If I go to setting, sound, volumes then set the ringer volume to max the volume to the bluetooth headphone literally doubles
Is this something that can be exploited by someone who is in the know?
I am desperate to get more volume from my phone via bluetooth as my headphones are very quiet in comparison to my old nokia n8, but more importantly music is rediculously low when connecting my phone to my car via bluetooth, its such a shame as both worked so well with my old nokia I would love to find a way around this problem.
Thank You

Try installing xposed framework and finding the mod that allows the advanced volume control. It seperates all the volume streams so blutooth volume is not linked to other volumes.
Search for it in google or the themes and app section

When connected via bluetooth I get the bluetooth volume adjuster on my phone when I use the buttons, however this is already at max, with all volumes at max it is still very low, however just pressing the ringtone volume, even without adjusting it as it is already at max, it plays my ringtone for a second thn suddenly I have twice the volume, despite all volumes including bluetoth were already at max, suddenly I have plenty of volume?

This app does a nice job of setting media volume to max and works superb, however it hasn't solved the issue, even with all volumes set to max the Bluetooth volume is still very low, however just touching the notification or alarm volume slider and letting it beep, then doubles the output.
I have just flashed .145 Rom and kernel hoping it would fix the issue, but it still persists. Does it not do the same for everyone else?
I.e start walkman with Bluetooth headphones or car connected, start playing music, then go to settings, sounds, volumes and adjust the alarm volume, then the volume has Bluetooth output volume has suddenly doubled?
It didn't do it on custom Roms for me just sock ones, custom ones stayed quiet no matter what
"just touching the notification or alarm volume slider and letting it beep, then doubles the output."
THANK YOU! Fast little work around to get true max volume on my Xperia T. Can't believe Sony hasn't gotten this sorted after many updates. I can finally use my Jambox again haha!
The low bluetooth volume is a known issue on JB FW's for Xperia T. (read somewhere its related to actual JB rather than Sony only).
My fix for it is..connect BT headphone.. take a quick call.. just dial something for even a second n end...n volume increases on BT..
Hi I would like to increase the headset volume on my phone it is far to quiet when listening to music in my car via the audio jack, I used to have a galaxy s i9000 and I used the voodoo amp app that turned up the gain from -10 to +2 and it sounded incredible in the car but my Sony outputs at a much lower volume and sounds pants in comparison!
I've tried a lot of volume boost apps in play store and I've tried flashing sound mods like v4a and zeroinfinitys volume boost and superloud but nothing makes any difference at all!
And I'm stuck with a bootloader unlock allowed : no phone so unable to install custom kernels
Any help to turn up the volume in some way would be greatly appreciated......
Thanks in advance
Anybody??
One last attempt for a response lol
This phone will be for sale if I can't sort this volume out or unlock the bootloader I will go back to samsung

Wait for 4.3 update, stock volume is louder.
But have you tried poweramp ? Gain can be increased a lot.
I have had a similar issue. Increasing gain will kill quality. And I don't think you want that. My recommendation is to buy a headset with a higher sensitivity. I always look for something higher than 105db because this stupid phone.
That's good news volume is louder in 4.3! I'm currently using poweramp paid version, I have dvc enabled and I've turned up the pre amp slider on the equaliser a bit but not a lot of difference in the sound have I missed a setting somewhere??
I never use an actual headset I plug the phone into the aux in on my car stereo, I don't know the hardware differences between the 2 phones I have but with the Sony plugged in and all volumes on max it sounds very quiet but if I plug in my old galaxy s running cm7 and voodoo sound if all volumes were maxed speaker damage would almost definitely occur it is sooooo much louder and the quality is still crystal clear in my opinion
This is a problem of too high impedance of your car device for XT, hardware related... You could use a preamp.
But wait for 4.3.
Hey together,
I own an Xperia V and want to use it in my car to be able to make calls without touching my phone.
In my car I have a Becker igo8 navigation system (active 43 control).
The problem is that even if I set the volume to max at the becker and the xperia, the in-call volume is really low.
Low means enough when the car is standing still, howewer no way to hear something at 30km/h or more.
I'm currently at Rizal's Rom (Lovins X Z2, A.2.5) and here are the things I've tried:
--> Practically any app on the appstore --> none boosted the volume
--> Viper --> Really nice, however regarding bluetooth it only boost the music volume not the incall volume
--> Modified the snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3-File. I've tried manually editing the parameters (RX Digital Volume) and also
used modified versions by other authors.
With a modified file I had it louder for one week. Then I wanted to write an android-app which changed the settings. By the time I was finished, the volume did reset itself to standard values (I don't know why), meaning that again it is pretty low.
I can't reproduce what I did to get it load again. I sat in my car for hours, trying to change parameters, save, reboot and test by making a call.
Next try: using the AlsaMixer-App from the market. While a call was active (mailbox) I changed __every__ setting which included "volume" in its name, I could find to the max that alsamixer told me. While I could change the speaker-volume this way, I wasn't really sucessful regarding bluetooth incall-volume.
One setting "Voice Rx Volume" I could change in between 0 and 5. When setting it to 5 it didn't change, however when I lowered the incall-volume with the slider and then increased it again, the volume was louder. Loader in this case however isn't nearly enough to make a call while driving. It also isn't nearly that load as it was before when playing around with the snd_soc-file.
One note: while I did all those tests, I was on Rizals old version of the rom. Now I am on the new version A.2.5). Don't know if that makes any difference.
This is why I am asking you for help. Any ideas? I would really love to be able to make calls, as it only is a matter of volume...
Cheers
One note:
Adding ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps=10 to build.prop also doesn't change anything.
I could find out via logcat that:
the "stream" responsible is "Voice RX Volume". Apparently 0 is the maximum, the higher the value the smaller the volume. Via alsamixer 5 is the lowest, by using the buttons on the phone in call, logcat displays level 100 at minimum. 0 is the maximum in both cases.
So, how to actually boost that Voice RX volume? I cannot find it in snd_soc_sms's fusion3-file.
Any ideas?
Hi Elarion,
Did you ever find a solution to your low call volume? I have the same problem on my Xperia T, volume on the Bluetooth headset is ridiculously low and I need to fix it!

Dear All,
from the beginning I am facing the issue with the volume levels on my Note 9 (Exynos version). The last two volume levels decrease the volume overall so it is like the maximum volume of the phone is at 80%. Anyone faced similar issue ? Any idea how to solve this ?
I have already tried the factory reset, uninstalling 3rd party apps, used samsung music apk but issue remains..
Yes, even mine but this is not an issue but a way to avoid to break the earphones or the phones speakers because the level of the sound will be to high for them. Also that behavior doesn't make distorsions that otherwise will be present at that volume level. The same thing happens (volume goes down) when rising the cursors of the equilazor when selecting costum sound or selecting valve sound option because all these causes distorsions at high level volume. Also this thing is generally used in all Samsung phones and I remember it since galaxy s5... So, not an issue at all.
I remember the same behavior happening even in all the old stereo systems amps and even car steroes when putting on the loudness function that boosts the basses and the trebles on low and middle volumes and goes out in the same way and for the same reasons as our phones near the max volume.... so, even old stuff and even not a samsung invention.
I don't know the answer but I did notice the volume changes in Pie, I was always annoyed by the fact that notifications weren't loud enough, now they seem too loud. Might be an audio bug.

I'm not on pie, still on 8 and it's not a bug for music . For the rest, like notifications, never noticed something and so I don't know.. maybe what your experiencing is a bug.
Dear users of Pixel 7, moderators and audience.
I have recently moved from a different Android device onto the newly Pixel 7 recently and I have noticed that my headset has a lower volume at maximum output from the Pixel 7 compare to my older devices.
Is this normal or is there a way to maximise the volume coming from the Pixel 7?
I'm fine with bluetooth audio on my P7, no difference comparing to my previous P6Pro or any other phone I owed.
Only in rare cases - noisy environment, low volume of original audio/video source - I use Volume Booster GOODEV https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodev.volume.booster.
Be careful, putting slider too far to the right will hurt your ears

Hi Lugh! I tried this feature, it did help boost the audio, but losses control of the slide when pressing on the Bluetooth device.
In short, when I have "Developer Options>Disable absolute volume>Enable", my AfterShokz AS800 (headphone) has volume control. When I press them, the volume bar is not changing on the UI of Pixel 7, but I can definitely hear it going louder in the device.
In short, even if I slide the UI to 100%, I can basically boost another +100% which is a little strange... Any idea if this is a bug? Any idea how to submit bugs and glitches to Google?

When I disable absolute volume, I do two things:
1. Turn the Bluetooth volume level on the phone to maximum.
2. Control the volume from your Bluetooth device.
Otherwise it goofs my volume levels for my headset and car.
Also I use the magisk module JamesDSP so I can modify the output volume, effects, etc.
Mostly for the built in speakers. They're either too loud or too quiet. At night, I reduce the post-gain, so that media etc doesn't bug people around me.
Hope this helps
