Hi everyone,
I bought a Note 9 a few days ago and its rooted. It has got Android 9 One UI 1.0
I wanted to update the software but it has no software update option.
So I thought maybe I can download the latest software on it through odin.
It is N950F model. On settings, it has the following baseband version: N960FXXU2ZRLR
SE for Android status is showing the following: Enforcing SEPF_SM_N960F_P03_Dr.KetanROM
And bootloader is showing something like this: N960NKSU3CSG3
Now I'm really confused that which firmware should I download?
Can anyone help?
I would recommend that you download and install android 10 to your Note 9.

Use 'samsung phone info' in playstore. Check which csc the phone originally. Download that csc's firmware and flash.
By right any firmware should do but who knows.
Same
Hi!
Were you able to resolve this?
I am actually having the same problem. With all the scenario the same.
Bought a rooted Note 9
Firmware: N960FXXU2ZRLR

I believe for rooted devices, you need to install the OS update manually

once rooted you will lose knox protection, secure folder Samsung health and yes oem updates. even if you flash official again you may receive oem updates but some oem features may not function again. so u might have two options here. one is to re flash via odin the official firmware and use the phone without some features as i mentioned above! also now that our beloved note 9 got the final 2.1 major firmware update it is highly unlikely to get anymore upgrades such as oneui 2.5 but will continue to receive monthly security updates! then the second option is we have some great devs like dr.ketan, AlexisXDA, etc with highly customized roms and many workarounds to get features like S-health and secure folder working and they do keep upgrading the roms and we might even expect to get oneui 2.5 features from them which is excellent. i too am still on stock rom not even rooted but will start having fun flashing roms after my warranty expires for sure! cheers
P.S - use henklbr s frija to download official firmware easily and fast..... https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...icial-stock-fw-update-odin-thread-xx-t3825204

Do they know the CEO of Samsung or something? This is the most frustrating Beta I've ever been apart of. Can't even test the damn thing.
Has anyone tried it on an S10 (G973F) with November security patch? And since it is asking to have checked OEM Unlock, does it unlock the bootloader?
----Edit
I've tried sideloading beta1 over ASJG didn't work I had to downgrade to ASII to make it work.
After installing beta1, playstore started telling me that my device is not certified and can not install apps like Netflix. so flashing (with CSC not HOME_CSC, so I don't know if it work with HOME_CSC) ASJG with Odin fixed the issue.

Since it's beta, it won't be certified by Google. That warning is even showing on all official betas. Netflix is a known problem and the Play version won't work. Most have been downloading Netflix from Apkmirror and that works.

First, use frija to download the proper firmeware fir you.
The boot your device into download mode and the flash it using odin (using home_csc, if it doesn't work try it again with csc) and the downloaded firmeware.
It should fix your problem as you go back to Android pie
Hey everyone this is my first post and I'd like you all to help as much as you can.
I've had this Note 8 for a little over a year. The current carrier it has is T-mobile. I've notice there are new updates to the note 8 models but I'm still on Android 8.0.0 and Samsung Experience version 9.0. Everytime I go to the settings and try manually update it the message always says my phone is already up-to-date.
Please help.

Sometimes a factory reset can resolve OTA's, just make sure to back up all your data beforehand. You could also download the filmware from Sammobile or updato and flash it with Odin to update it to the current build, using the "homecsc" file will keep your data.

Download this firmware and then use Odin to flash it and if you don't want to lose any of your information that you already have in there, in the .zip folder after you extract it once you'll see all the files you need but there will be 2 CSC files only use the one that says HOMECSC if you use the other one it'll factory reset your device so don't use that one. Make sure you also download the latest version of Odin.. Firmware for download link is https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261709167

Thank you so much. It worked perfectly.
Hi everyone,
I had updated my Galaxy Note 9 with March 2020 update and I am one among many poor souls who are suffering from display discoloration, horizontal lines during low brightness and over heating.
- I have tried all possible methods as suggested by Samsung team in their US community page, tried factory reset multiple times, nothing worked. Took screenshots of the screen and shared it to other to check if the problem is with display, but the screenshots were just fine, no colour distortion or verticle lines. So i am of the opinion that, its basically software glitch in March update.
So, I have some following specific queries. I tried looking for these queries in the forum but did not find any, so, have collated all my queries below:
- My current Bootloader version is 5. Is there any process by which i can downgrade my Bootloader from 5 to 4? I would like to go back to January update.
- If I root my phone and install custom rom (latest version of Linage OS. You guys can suggest a good OS, if you have tried one), will the display problem be solved?
- After installing custom rom as mentioned above, can I go back and install stock firmware with Bootloader version 4?
As you can see, I am just trying to find a solution to come out of display problem. Any other suggestions or any tried and tested solutions are welcome.
Thanks everyone in advance

Ita all over the internet. Just Google Samsung galaxy note 9 display discoloration.
I don't know if this will solve your problem but you would be able to flash a Android 9 ROM on a Android 10 bootloader. If you're like me you hate Android 10. What you do is you flash Android 9 bootloader made for twrp flash the Android 9 rom of your choice. Than flash the Android 10 bootloader that you want via Odin, than fastly reflash twrp for Android 10
For me it works but I kind of jerry-rigged it to work. I regret every day updating to Android 10 but since I'm able to still run Android 9 on an Android 10 bootloader, I'm okay with that.
Hope this kind of help you.

only way is to trip knox by rooting and then flashing an android 9 rom. as you know once it has been tripped you will instantly lose access to samsung pay, secure folders etc. however on the plus side you have the choice of root or non root.
Hi guys,
Me and my mum are experiencing a similar situation.... I'm trying to downgrade my galaxy Note8 boot-loader, everything was working till I press the button to upgrade. Now I cant use any memory card all i see is 'the Sandisk card is not supported' and for my mum's Note 9 when she activates the biometric sensor the phone restarts each 15 - 30 mins. I always bought Samsung but now I'm considering to don't do it anymore...

All you do is just flash the android 9 rom. Downgrading the bootloader makes no difference if you have already unlocked it. The whole point of it is for people who are on later bootloaders and still have knox and want to go to android 9 which is not possible without the trip.

Hi @A|ex , thanks for your answer. I still don't know where I can find a custom Android 9 rom, compatible with Note 9 snapdragon (SM-N9600) that I could flash via TWRP... (Assuming it's impossible to flash stock Android 9 via Odin even if my phone is currently already rooted on latest Android 10 (bootloader == 5).
Here on XDA there are some ROMs for the Exynos model but nothing except the 'WETA' rom for Snapdragon model, which is not a full rom anyway from what I understand.
If you could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated: where can I find a custom Android 9 rom, flashable via TWRP, compatible with a rooted SM-N9600 (currently on latest Android 10, with a BL==5, unlocked)?
Thanks again for any help!!
Hi,
I have a note 8 (SM-N950F) UK. It's unlocked and is still on Android 8.0.0 and the security patch version is 01/04/2018.
When I try do an OTA update it says I've got the latest version of the software installed. I've downloaded Samsung Smart Switch and and that says "Your device software is up to date: RD7(XEU)
I don't think my note 8 has a OEM version of the rom on it. (When I originally got it, I believe it was on the EE network, but wasn't locked to that network).
I was wondering if anybody can help me with the fact i can't seem to update it to Android version to 9 or update the security software.
The details are:
AP: N950FXXU3CRD7
CP: N950FXXU3CRB9
CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC
Don't really know what the above means, but would like to update the ROM to Android 9.
Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

BACKUP First!!
On PC: (computer)
-Download samfirm.exe or frija
-Download latest Odin version (can be found in sammobile.com firmware section or google search)
-Open up samfirm.exe or frija use : SM-N950F and XEU in the search fields and download file (~4.8 GB File) and unzip the zip file.
-Open Odin and put PHONE in download mode and connect to PC.
-Place the 4 files in its correct place:
BL = BL-FILE
AP = AP-FILE
CP = CP-FILE
CSC = CSC-FILE or HOME-CSC FILE **
** CSC-FILE WILL DELETE EVERYTHING and bring back to factory settings (like doing factory reset!) Backup first before choosing this file.
** HOME-CSC FILE will keep data intact
So choose only ONE File!!!
If you run into bugs after update do a factory reset!
They're YouTube guides on how to use Odin and samfirm.exe or frija!
But beware that you CAN NOT go back to android 8 period! So make sure that you really want to go to pie!!
Just to add to what Bluephnx said, the link below will help you on how to use Odin, but also has the download link for SamFirm. (For region in Samfirm, use either XEU, which is UK and Ireland, or BTU, which is UK, or you will get carrier bloatware. You can obviously flash carrier filmware if you choose)

I'll give what you suggest a go.
Really don't understand why I can't do it OTA tho', would there be something wrong with my phone to stop OTA update working?
And is there any reason not to go to Pie (9) and stick on 8 that you know of?

It just glitches/bugs out sometimes. It has happened to me before, but once flashing via Odin, it usually resolves the OTA problem. You could try a factory reset, which can sometimes resolve the OTA bug, just back your data up first.
I honestly can't remember what Oreo was like to make a comparison for you, but some people do hate Pie, where I have been very happy with it since it's launch.
Here is a little explanation of Pie on the Note 8 on YT that you may find useful.

Did you ever do the OTA update yourself before on that phone or did you just buy it on AP: N950FXXU3CRD7 CP: N950FXXU3CRB9 CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC? If it's been that way since you got it then the most likely answer is that someone else updated it using a version of firmware that can't update via OTA and the only way to fix that is to use odin and flash the latest version of firmware.

I urgently need some help to downgrade Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone Model No: SM-N960F/DS from currently running OS Android 10 to Android (Oreo) 8.1 or 8.0.
Following are the current versions running:
Software version: SAOMC_SM-N960F_OXM_XSA_QQ_0016
Knox Version: Knox 3.4.1, Knox API Level: 30, TIMA: 4.10.
I have downloaded the XSA version of Android 8.1 from Sammobile, followed all the instructions by running Odin3 V3.14.4, gone into the Download mode of the phone. The phone connects to Odin as I can see on Odin status of Blue Colour Com connection established, Odin then displays "Recovery", unfortunately the phone gets stuck at this status showing "Recovery". I have let the phone run for hours or even a full day but the status never changes from "Recovery"
Could anyone please assist me to complete the downgrade. Am I missing any step here?
Thanking you in advance
I don't think downgrade to oreo is possible. Pie is possible if baseband version's 5th character from the back is 4.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I just check the digit, its 6 not 4. What are my options here?
None. Your options are only firmwares with the number 6, which date to April/May, last OneUI 2.0 firmwares.
I did read that one can flash custom roms that are older, if one leaves Bootloader untouched to v6, but that is something i wouldn't encourage to do.

Thank you PlutoD, I am happy to read about it as well, if you want to post the link or let me know where to find the info.

I have no links except the Development board here, my input came as something that i've seen discussed somewhere in there.
As you can see, there are some Oreo Custom ROMs, i'm not sure if they are actively maintained (if one can say anything active about that), but if you are determined to do what you want, i would start by choosing the ROM first, put a question there or the last resort, contact the developer.
I'll be very blunt with you, i see no reason for people to revert to older roms, but i dont want to get in to that argument, but having a v6 Bootloader (and maybe Modem too) with a v1/v2 system firmware is something that could give you unpredictable issues nobody could help you with.
Could boot a pie custom rom with android10 bootloader. Not sure about oreo though
