I have an odd issue with voice commands with Google maps and I can even reproduce it after a factory reset.
First off you need to be using the new Google Assistant.
1) start navigation to any destination
2) while in Google maps full screen use the voice command via hotword or mic button to change to a different destination
3) it'll confirm that it changed the route but won't actually do it.
It'll work if maps is minimized or you're in a different app while navigation is running in the background.
I can fix it if I install Google app version that appears not too have the new Google Assistant but then I lose things like continued conversation and the new GA animation.
Has anyone experienced this or can anyone test it? A factory reset did not fix the issue.

Confirming the issue here as well. Quick work around is to just tap X on the current navigation then voice command the next location.

Just as in title. My Google navi worked fully fine, till I ran wisepilot for the first time (wanted to just check it out, but it's not that good as I need so I never ran it again). Right now there is absolutely no trace of Google navi ever being installed on my SP. Anyone met the same problem? Is there a way to fix it without reflashing? (can't flash, away from home, no computer, and I really do need that Google's navi)

That's because of Google's maps update. Navigation is now a part of maps app and hence not anymore a launcher icon..

You may need to move it to system apps
i installed the GE launcher and is not working FYI
Do you have your gear connected to bluetooth internet?
Nop, do I need it for the GE launcher?

out of curiosity, why would you even want to try it? it's in early stages, with barely any customization. can't even change icon easily. i'd recommend sticking to verified apps like nova. works without issues.
For the voice search
no it is not working... i mean... launcher is working fine, but voice search like OK GOOGLE is not working... tired everything... only working solution for voice search is google voice search https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.voicesearch
.... but you wont get voice feedback an no auto listening like in g.louncher (OK google..btw realy awesome featur)... if someone has working solution please share....
I'm currently running 7.1.1 PN and Nitro and cannot get OK Google to stick with the settings after any boot. Particularly, I have to go through the setting up of Ok Google for when the screen is on or off. Anyone have a fix or experience this issue?

Google Assistant?

Solution 1: assuming you had OK Google working on Pure Nexus 12/15 and a nandroid backup, dirty flash the 1/6 ROM only over the 12/15 version and voice commands continue to function.
Solution 2: already mentioned above. Chop Assistant sets up an accessibility service which kills the training prompt so the Google Assistant is usable. Note however that you will not be able to summon Google Assistant with the screen off if using Chop Assistant.
So I had it working on previous versions but I don't remember which ones. Plus I do not have a nandroid of them on my device. I still can't get it to stick though by uninstalling, doing the prompt, updating then installing the GA zip. Any ideas.

Not sure if this is now new but before while driving with maps open and I say ok Google it would operate in the maps app with the search at the top but since I recently updated if I say ok Google now it doesn't stay in maps it opens the Google app and I have to say ok Google again really annoying. Is there a way to get it back. Thanks.
Can you check 'Ok Google detection' in Navigation Settings in Maps Settings once?

All,
One question I am seeking the answer to is can one unlink Waze from AA? Google maps will allow one to run Google maps on the phone and if using a screen mirroring app (e.g. screen2auto, AA Mirror, etc) one can stay in screen mirror road and use Google maps.
Waze, however, refuses to launch on the phone if Android Auto is running. I would like to be able to run Waze on my phone and mirror the screen, so that I do not have to go back to Android auto to see directions if I am mirroring my screen.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Cheers,
B.D.
As far as I know, it is not possible to run two apps using the GPS in the same time. Take in account that even one of the navigation apps runs on AA (screen mirroring), this doesn't mean it is not using the same GPS sensor.

Uhi711,
I appreciate the response, but just to clarify, I am not asking about running two GPS app (though this is possible, as I have run magic earth and maps at the same time>. My question is specific if there is a way to run waze on the phone while connected to AA.
Hope this clarifies.
Cheers,

Ok, I didn't understand exactly what you were asking.
I'm not sure that this will solve your problem, but it worth trying.
In AA settings (opened on phone), you have the option to choose what apps you want to be able to see on AA's apps screen (Customize launcher). Disable Waze and see what happens when you connect your phone to your car's infotainment system.

Not sure if this helps but I run Waze & Google maps at the same split screen each set to 2 different locations all the time. Never had any problems. [emoji2369]

uhi711,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, when I tried this, Waze launched but then FCed.

Hmmmm. Strange. I tried on my Pixel 3xl and Waze will launch and then FC itself. Google Maps will run on my phone Even if I run Google Maps on my car, or Waze is running on my car. I am on the latest version of AA and Waze.
Thanks for the suggestions and information.
Cheers,
B.D.
Figured it out. If Waze is running (From the head unit), then it will not permit Waze to run on the phone (as the output is already to the head unit). I thought I had exited the app and not had it launch in Android Auto.
To overcome this, I used KWGT to create a widget that when pressed will call a Tasker Task to kill waze. Then I could start waze on the phone (mirror screen) and even have it split screen with my music app.
Hope this helps somebody else.
Cheers,
B.D.
