Battery Results for 120hz , 90hz and 60hz - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

Hey everyone i have already ordered my phone and I'm pretty hyped for the battery.
Does anyone have a battery drain screenshot for the 60hz or 90hz?
Most battery tests online have used the 120hz through their videos and I'm curious about how long the phone will last if you really push the battery to low speeds.

Only using 120Hz mode, always around 10h of SoT

Everyones usage is diff and mileage differs...
Example I also using 120hz but my SOT at best was 7 hrs and 30 mins

I get that I'm asking the screenshot for battery usage page which shows the SOT, Applications used and how much it has drained

Awesome. Sounds like at that rate it would just break 7 hours SOT. Thats amazing for an 800 series on such a small battery, imo.

I finally charged around 2am at 5% after clocking 5 hr 52 m SOT
Today is overcast and rainy in Portland (surprise)
So I've only had to keep brightness between 20-40%
I am extremely happy about battery life.
45% left with 4 hours 40 minutes SOT. Today has been very average in terms of my usage, light gaming, light social media, light browsing and moderate GPS navigation.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/cxaW1NAQAD2y4Yyt1
I'm on track to hit 8-9 hours SOT with pretty good usage across the board. Screen legibility at 30% brightness is awesome too! Have had no problems reading text or watching videos/taking pictures. There was one time I was sitting in a cafe directly under a bright light and I had to turn brightness up to 60%. I've still never had to crank it to 100% yet.
Screen on time, on wifi, has been awesome. Over 6 hrs last charge, today, over 4 hrs and at 65% remaining.

mine was unplugged for 24 hours, had 5hours, 15 mintues of SoT
6 hours sot
How are you people getting such massive SoT? I got 3h 20m with about 19h usage yesterday.
The current status looks like 1h sot in 9h usage (mostly overnight). I had always-on on. Screenshots attached.
I installed naptime now to see if that helps.
How do I check if the battery health is ok? I used accubattery which says about 92% health, is that normal or inaccurate measurement?
I got a little over five hours SOT with 2% left last night. Forgot to get screenshots. I was running at 50% brightness and have almost all of the "marketed" features turned on.

How many hours between last full charge & 2% for you? I have 3h sot, 16h since last full charge and 18% remaining. I am concerned about it now and need to figure out quickly whether I should return it.

Not sure but I'll do the same as I did yesterday and report back tomorrow with screenshots. Except today I'm at 40% brightness and don't want to change it.
FWIW, I am currently at 84% | Last full charge: 6h 47m ago | Screen usage since full charge: 40m.

I am guessing you charged it sometime before sleeping and now in the morning it is 7 hrs since charges and some drain with minimal screen usage, hence 84%?
Yep thats exactly correct.

Are you running 100% brightness all day? Take a screenshot of your advanced battery usage page also.
No. I use adaptive brightness and if it becomes too bright sometimes I manually reduce it. I will take screenshots again today.

From what I was told some time ago, adaptive brightness uses a sensor, requiring some (a lot? A little?) battery use there. I don't know if it is much... if it counteracts the point of adaptive brightness or what.
Personally, I just use the lowest tolerable brightness, manually adjusted as needed (which isn't too frequent, honestly), and I think I get the best battery I can from the screens I use.
Might be worth testing the two out see if manual helps any.

Okay, didn't think about that but i anyway disabled adaptive brightness in the morning today. Have 2.5h SoT, 15.5h uptime so far (since last full charge) and 42% battery remaining. With this rate it is likely to be slightly under 5h SoT which is still lower than what most people are reporting.
I also installed accuBattery to check battery health and it estimated it to be 91%, are these estimates usually correct? Should I be concerned?

I get 5-8h depending on what I am doing
I get around 7h SOT on normal usage with wifi on most of the time. Now I got 28% remaining and 5.5h SOT mostly on gaming/youtube. So I guess its not that bad

It's a card game, but it has some 3d elements and animations. It drains the battery 1-2%/5 minutes I think.
However, let me tell you this: I've been using Xiaomi Mi3 before (Snapdragon 800 and also 3000mAh battery) and Mi A2 lasts waaaay longer, so I assume some reviewers just look at the numbers and say the battery is weak
I'm in holiday in Bali and have been in 4G since arrival. I use the maps and Spotify for most of the day, play some light games and still have battery life to spare when we get back to the hotel at night.
The phone has great battery for me, but this is all opinions and your milage may vary. Not every has the same requirements for what great battery life is.
Not a good buy to battery life , only 4 sot to me .
I am switching from galaxy s8+. I am using galaxy with full qhd+ resolution almost full brightness.
Will Mi A2 battery work same as s8+?

maybe the worst battery life phone i have used.
in 2018 getting 4Hrs sot is not acceptable from Xiaomi
For as long as people will care about looks then manufacturers will keep making super thin profile phones. If they made them a few mm bigger then could fit a bigger battery.
It's all about deciding what you value the most as you can't have everything your heart desires in one device. Just doesn't make business sense for a company to give you the best of everything at one time.

How much SOT do you get on a S9+? Its around 3-5h. How many times more does it cost? So 4-8h on a 250€ device is fine in my opinion.

I get 6-7 hours before battery reaches to 10 %. Mostly browsing, no games, wifi and 4G mixed.
I come from a s8+ with 5-6 SOT and with the xiaomi I have 5+ SOT, almost the same. Not bad for the price i think
I think 6-7 SOT is possible, depending on what you're doing. If you game a lot or watch loads of movies, then you're really stretching it though. I only got my phone last week, so I haven't tested it that much yet, but so far I can easily get through the day on one full charge.
But I don't play games or watch a lot of YouTube or movies on it. Mainly browsing, emailing, texting, phoning, podcasting, Spotify, a bit of Reddit, etc.
On the plus side, it charges really, really fast, but that's useless if you can't plug it in during the day. Besides that, the Snapdragon 660 is supposed to be more energy efficient than its predecessors. But if battery life is the main issue for you, then you might wanna reconsider buying this phone.
I would have preferred a (slightly) thicker Mi A2 with a larger battery though. 3000mAh really is the bare minimum these days. The phone is great, but it would have been awesome with a bigger battery.
Also, bear in mind, Android One takes up 13Gb of the storage size.

battery life

have been using Rog 3 about a month and noticed that the battery is not that great especially if we consider it is a 6000mha, at least in my device
thought i would share some screenshot to my battery and hear your opinions if you think it is OK or there is something wrong
What did you expect? Your battery life is pretty normal for a 6000mah battery device. Not piss poor. Not great. Just normal. Were you expecting 3 days standby time with normal usage?
I might see it wrongly but the first pic is showing the phone is up 1 day 9hrs without charging, that's more than what I would asked for.

Something is wrong with your set. Please get a refund from the seller. Even by playing PUBG or COD in X-Mode at max brightness does not drain from 100% to 0% in 3 hours.

Can't compare a 60hz screen with a phone giving 144hz screen. The drain of the screen will be much heavier than 60hz.
The 6000 mah battery is really good when you compare from specs point of view. Higher CPU clock speed, higher GPU clock and higher screen refresh rate and faster and more RAM. A Ferrari will use much more gas than a standard car even your Ferrari have a bigger gaz tank.
I can use this phone without ever think about getting out of juice before I get to sleep.
In the last 7 hours I used my phone for 4h20, playing game during 2 hours (COD and PUBG) and 50% of the battery remaining. So if I keep using the phone that way it means that I could run out of battery with about 8h SoT and 4 hours of gaming. I never had a phone allowing me to play that many hours of high quality games with all graphics to max.

Yes, I don't know a phone that gives you the perfect battery calibration. This phone show a loss of battery really fast in the first 10% then afterward it is slower.
I remember my Sony Z Ultra was really slow to lose the first 10% then battery was dropping really fast until reaching 20 25. And the remaining battery was longer to be used than the 60 previous %.
Or my HTC Sensation XE that could be used about half a day to drop from 5% to 0.

Has anyone found a battery drain test for pixel 5?

In my case, after 2 days of use, both from 100% to 5%,SOT is 7h30min.
7.5 SOT for me too.
Same usage, my old Pixel would do 4.5 hours, maybe 5 on a good day.
This is with forced 90 refresh on in developer settings.
First couple of days I was getting about 5hrs 30 mins sot but since then it has dropped to 4hrs at best. Can't work out why. Phone reports no unusual battery drain.

Question How is your batterylife?

I know it depends how you using it and so on. But generally?
I think mine is worse then pixel 4 xl. Have only charged it like 4 times but still. Using some Instagram, Facebook, Spotify, news , youtube.
Mostly wifi and feels like battery is dropping really fast.
I'm getting 7-8 hours SoT when battery hitting around 25-30% left. Here's my thread from my first findings.
Battery life?
So I'm coming from a 3 XL, and I even got the battery replaced April 2021, and I was getting about four hours SoT. My 7 in only two days is blowing my mind. Yesterday I had five hours SoT, and today after a full charge, It went from 100% to 99%...
forum.xda-developers.com
Today's usage.
its about the same as pixel 6 for me maybe a little less from daily usage...but smoother for sure and the phone is a little bit smaller which is always a plus
My battery sucks ATM. Only had like 3 full charges so might settle and getting better , hopefully
Another quick update. Haven't used the phone that much yesterday or today yet, and I'm happy with standby time. Over 34 hours off the charger with over 4 hours SoT, and still has over 40% battery.

LOL what do you want? 20 hours SoT? Maybe because I'm coming from a 3 XL with a 3430 battery that after 4 hours of SoT, and only being off the charger for 12 hours, not well over 30, my battery would be at 10%, not 40%, but to me this is freaking awesome battery life.

Mine is honestly making me regret buying the phone. Too late, sent my trade in yesterday.
I previously had the Pixel 5a and got around 9.5 hours of screen on time over 24 hours. I think most days I could go about 30 hours before running empty.
My P7 gets around 6 hours of screen time over about 18 hours.
So a battery that's 7% smaller is seeing battery life more than 30% worse.
I'm not very happy with the battery life as you can tell, and I just hope a software update can improve things.

Other than the battery life the phone is fantastic haha. It's not unmanageable, I do keep good high-watt chargers in most places like home, work, car, etc. But sometimes I go do something all day and I'm not near a charger. Guess I'll just get used to using battery saver mode in those situations.
I do enjoy the phone, but the battery giving me anxiety is not very fun.

dont reference your SOT, reference it to your previous phone, everone usage SOT is different, one person maybe have 5 hours SOT but on the camera for 70% one person may have 10 hours but only use it for texting or internet.
What ways have you guys found to extend battery life during normal use? Without having to severely reduce the functionality of the phone, ie 5g or reducing screen brightness a ton. I feel like a modern phone a lot of the point is the screen and 5g so those I wouldn't want to sacrifice
Are there settings or other apps that can help? I'm fairly new to Android and so far I've been a bit disappointed with the battery life of the P7.

What kind of battery life are you getting? I only play around on mine (Instagram, Pinterest, SnapChat, and some Candy Crush games), and my main drain is Clash Royale, and I get around 7-8 hour SoT with 20% remaining. I switched 5G off, and only use LTE because 5G (at least in my area) is bad.
Man, y'all must've been spoiled with like 10+ hours of SOT with your old phones... I get around 6-8 with 30 hrs total which I think is pretty dang good. But like someone else said SOT will be much different from person to person based on device usage. I watched a 2hr downloaded movie from Netflix with airplane mode on and it only dropped 12%. And with adaptive charging, I just charge it all night which it will charge, slowly, till full until my alarm goes off.

Exactly. My experience is the opposite though. I came from a 3 XL, and by the time I switched from it to the 7 my battery capacity was down to around 2800. My 7 is like a God send for me. 7-8 hours SoT with the same use as my 3 XL, and I still have 30% left, when my 3 XL would be down to 2%. I couldn't be happier.
I came from the OnePlus9 and all around the OnePlus9 is a better device.
Google has a great UI experience, but these Tensor2 chips do not compete in performance or efficiency with the Snapdragon 888s or higher.
Theyre missing a lot of the refinement that Qualcomm has done with the hardware and it shows.
For those coming from a Pixel 3-5 series, yes this is a big upgrade, and many got great trade-in deals which is what made me give this phone a shot. It does not however live up to it's MSRP. Im hoping Google is able to refine things to greatly improve efficiency on these devices.
