Don't replace screen yourself. Send it into certified Asus repair center. Since your device has 2 types of warranty 1. Screen warranty 2. Internal/hardware warranty.
So opening your device yourself will void the hardware warranty. Only a certified Asus technician may open your device and replace the screen for you without the hardware warranty being voided.
You can also send it back to store where you bought it and have them forward it for repair to certified repair center that has certified Asus technician that can repair it.
Since for now only your screen warranty is voided, but not your hardware warranty.

Same problem here. But I'm from India, and not sure where to get it fixed. My phone fell from just a ft on a flat surface, and screen cracked. I'm not sure whether Corning Gorilla Glass is there for ROG 2?

gorilla glass is for protecting it from scratches not drops. and all of us should acknowledge the fact that this is a heavy device and hence even the small drops will end up having huge impacts.

Wrong, gorilla glass has some impact protection too.
But it does depend from how far from the floor you drop it and what type of floor it is.
Usually if you drop it from a bed onto a wooden floor it will be fine, but if you drop it from a table onto a stone floor then it has more chance of cracking the glas.
Since stone has normally pointy and not flat surface. So then one tiny sharp or uneven edge on floor can cause damage to glas.
Me myself accidentally got my Rog phone 2 dropping onto my wooden floor in my bed room and phone landed with screen down and it didn't get any crack or scratches and it flew off my bed that is a bit from the floor.

Water resistance and warranty ?

Found this interesting piece on Sony's website:
"In compliance with IP5/7 and IP5X, Xperia Z is protected against the ingress of dust and is water resistant. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is (i) protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP 55; and/or (ii) can be kept under 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP 57. The phone is not designed to float or work submerged underwater outside the IP55 or IP57 classification range and should not be exposed to any liquid chemicals. If liquid detection is triggered on the handset or battery, your warranty will be void."

It's obvious they will void your warranty if you leave the covers open and damage your phone. But what happens if one of the covers starts leaking due to, i don't know, being old and losing its rubber seal's tightness ? Clearly, it is not designed to be used in a shower etc, but rather survive accidental contact with water - but still, if it's IP rated it means we should be able to do it, or just "wash" our phones if they get dirty - goodbye cleaning cloths.
All water-resistant devices are very tricky if we look at warranty conditions. I'm just wondering how will Sony handle this one - is it possible to tell if the phone was damaged because the user screwed up, or because the water resistance failed somehow.
Have you guys had any experiences with IP-certified devices before ?

Sv: Water resistance and warranty ?
Interesting thought there. Sony is going to have a tough time when the inevitable cases of warranty come up. It'll be nearly impossible to determine, where the fault lies, say tur covers get bad over time.. Unless they dry it up, and test the waterresistance of the covers.. But who knows.. They might just declare it void at will.. Lot of companies tend to do that..

lol yall think they are actually going to cover water damage?? yall are crazy
there is no way those flaps are going to hold for 2 years strong if you open and close them everyday to charge your phone....people would just be claiming water damage warranty every few months just to get a new phone....i dont see sony shelling out $700 phones because there is no way to tell if the flaps are open or closed during the time of water damage they are always going to say its your fault and not honor the warranty and you really have no way of arguing with them....
they are clearly stating your warranty is void in the case of water damage for a reason....waterproof or not you wont be getting a warranty replacement if the water does actually mess the phone up
i would never get this phone wet on purpose....

[Q] Xperia z water damage

Hello everybody, after touching water my xperia z screen's breightness became very low (you can only recognize whether the screen is on or off), and it doesnt react when i touch it. (The touchscreen doesnt work).
One of the water indicator sticks became red, so I replaced it with another one.
1. Are there water indicator sticks inside the phone?
2. Shouldnt the phone be water proof even in a case where the flops are open?
3. Will the warranty fix it? If it wont, how much does a replacement cost?
Thank you all very much :good:

Sony don't provide water damage warranty whatever the case may be , and listen it is also not water resistant as certified by ip57 . sony z is a money wastage handset , just marketed as water resistant and waterproof to differentiate the product from samsung and htc to catch a good market .
Hates off to Sony z .
Sony flagship phone . Money wastage phone .

They do actually, just not if you've dunked the phone in water with the flaps open. If you don't think the Xperia Z is waterproof (admittedly with limits) then you're dead wrong. Of course, as with everything, manufacturing defects can crop up even in the best of production lines, and this becomes a major problem with things like water resistance. Since Sony can't offer any warranty for it you just have to hope their service center does find the production defect if that was the case, because then they will replace it.
My advice is to test it early (like, the same day you open it up) and if it breaks and you're denied service, take the case up with a consumer rights agency, big corporations hate that crap

Hello shoni,
Yes sony xperia Z comes with built-in Liquid Contact Indicators that will show (turns from white to red Color) whether the device has been in contact with water or a liquid containing water. Its there inside each flap.

Hi I have an Xperia Z and I sent it for repairs since its not charging. The repair place keep changing their story, first it was a damaged motherboard, then it was pressure damage and now they say its water damage. Can you send me some pics of where the moisture indicator is under the sim card flap? The other ones are very visible, i only have a white block thingy on the flap itself at the sim card. I dont really see any room for an indicator under this flap.
Thanks Anyways

[Q] Broken glass

Unfortunately
My note 3 has a broken glass
looks like a bullet hit the lower left corner over the phone icon.
The phone is fully functional and you cant see the cracks but you can see where the bullet type crack is.
In the past I had an iphone do something similar. I took it to apple got it replaced free based on how the crack was.
This crack is similar.
Where would I take it to? AT and T? or a Samsung kiosk at Best buy?
I called a local repair place that fixes phones and tablets he wanted 200+ to fix it. Said to not just replace the glass but the lcd as well because to fix the 20$ glass he wouldnt guarantee his workman ship. I saw a youtube video where the glass is glued to the LCD apparently.
Suggestions?
Thanks

If you still have warranty from At&t, take it to them. Call them up and see before going there to waste your time. I did some research for you and on ebay the lcd/screen replacement costs about $189. On a wholesaler place known for parts, it costs about $236.
In all honesty, you're better off just getting it done at the repair shop if and only if you cannot figure something out with AT&T for a replacement.
The note 3 is hardly a month old!!!
Should still be under some kinda warranty! (I would think)

Yeah, call up At&t from where you bought it. I don't know about physical damage like a cracked screen though. That's all you because you can't really prove it magically cracked on it's own. So it comes down to luck basically if they allow you to return it for a replacement. Try and see.

Yes, it's still under manufacturer warranty. But the warranty doesn't cover breaking the glass. (You can always try, but I'd be surprised if they go along.)
If you bought AT&T's insurance, then that will cover accidental damage such as this. But there's a $199 deductible.

Lol yeah and at that point you might as well pay a repair shop.
To the OP, they are not going to warranty anything that has physical damage. Unless you have insurance I can promise you it's not even worth your time to talk to them over a broken glass.
I broke my LCD about a week ago and ordered the the front assembly for about 200 and installed it myself. But patients is the key if that's something you don't have let someone else do it. But I wouldn't only do this is your outside or your warranty which in my case I was.

i repair the galaxy phones. its gonna be pricey to replace the whole lcd assembly but much cheaper doing glass and adding the glue to it. you can see my video on it. if you think you can do it, itll cost you around 40-50 in materials.

Display cracked -

Hi,
This is similar to the problem of screen cracked, but NOT the same problem.
My phone slip from the bed, 10 cm height, slid along the wall and fall into a very thick carpet. with Rhino-Shield on it. (https://www.evolutivelabs.com/)
The display cracked in the left-bottom corner.
I know for a fact, that every time I pushed the screen in this corner I heard some noise, like that something is not "sitting" well.
I always think, that this was the screen protector or something legit..
Now I think that this is not abuse.
I will like to hear from other users, if that happen to them.
And any thought will appreciate by me.
p.s-
The outer screen is without any scratch and normally the phone is with case-mate on it.
this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321969570376?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Thanks!
p.s 2 -
how the display can crack, but the screen not ?.
(how this possible ?)
no way, ive had the exact same thing happen on the back, i have no idea when it happened but its cracked in the corner and u can push it down
hi,
you talking about the screen (the outer glass).
I talking about the display screen.( the inner display cracked, but not the glass)
If the screen is fine and you had case mate on it so there should be no fall damage on the phone just send it to sony becouse there had to be an issue with build quality. Just say it cracked by itself. Dont send case mate cover it may not came back. Repair cost will be covered by warranty.
They tell me that the warranty do not cover this..
Maybe I will return it to Amazon.
I disappointed from Sony, because this is not abuse & It make some sounds(in the same area) before it happened..

The best thing to do would be to send it in for repairs, although I'm not quite sure if they cover accidental damages such as what happened with your phone. Either way without warranty's coverage it might cost quite a bit of cash to get it repaired. If the crack is negligible then I suggest using the phone for now, saving up for a new device would be more practical.
Good luck

Genuine Screen replacement

Hi,
My little man threw my rog direct on its face with no screen protector on and the screen cracked, i'm actually quite impressed, it dropped from over a meter of height. and everything still works including the on-screen fingerprint scanner. however I need that screen replaced. Is there any place that have the genuine parts, are the ones from aliexpress genuine? will they still be 120hz? I bought from Asus UK, and they quoted me £300 just for the screen.
You can get it from Aliexpress for cheaper. My issue is the repair. Do we have to remove the back panel to get to the screen or can I just go directly in the front and replace it there? the tear downs I found don't explain as they use a lot of jump cuts which doesn't help.

A bit off topic, but his name isnt actually "Jerry" his channel name is Jerry-rig everything (as in to fix or put together using non-standard or improvised materials).
Do not repair your phone yourself! If you do it. You will void your warranty, please return the device to your seller and they will send it over to a certified repair place where they have certified Asus techs that are allowed to open your phone up and repair it without warranty being affected. But if you do repair yourself then hardware warranty will no longer be valid.
Keep in mind that the device has 3 warranty types. 1 for the screen, 1 for hardware and last for battery.
So even you cracked your screen warranty is no longer valid for that part, but your hardware and battery has warranty still. So this is why you should not repair it yourself. Unless you want to void your warranty completely.

there is a lip near the speaker grill and around the glass. I can not tell if he goes around it or under it.. I will look into it again later.
Thanks for the info. The screen is super thin as it dropped knee height and it did not want to turn on. I then saw a hair line and that was that. maybe tempered glass would solve this in the future with a better case since \i used the one that came with the phone.

I broke the display and glass of my ROG 2 by accident. Fell from my pocket when riding bike and was run over by vehicles. There are scuff marks in the frame as well. Lying in service center for last 3 weeks awaiting display to be delivered from head office. Cost of replacement INR 15000 all charges inclusive. The service center says all asus phone displays come with the frame but they are not sure about ROG2 as my phone is the first one they handled. Hoping display comes with the frame so the scuff marks are also gone.
I was told display will arrive next week
Warranty on accidental damages is useless, Luckily I have insurance and am waiting for them to respond with solution, I think they'll just replace like for like

I don't think you understood my point. You have two warranty types. One for screen and other for internal hardware and when you break the screen or glass then that warranty is voided for the screen/glass end, but hardware warranty is still valid so opening your Asus Rog phone 2 yourself and replacing the screen will void the warranty for hardware side and that usually is 2 years warranty. Or at least 1 year.
So don't repair your device yourself if you want your hardware warranty voided aswell.
Only a certified Asus technician may open your phone and replace the parts. Since then warranty will remain on the hardware end.

Yes i did. INR 15000. I think the cost went up as i was collecting the phone. They charged me the old rate applicable when i gave the phone for repair
I also broke my ROG Phone ll recently. Sent it back for repair. I was willing to pay the £226. Then they sent me an email stating the screen part I need no longer exists. They will refund me the repair cost but I am not stuck paying £30 a month for a broken, un-fixable phone. Not sure what to do at this point.
So i broke my screen on a drunken night out and as i had the tencent edition I didn't bother trying asus UK. Bought a screen of aliexpress went to a local repair shop and fixed. It is worth noting that you do have to go through the back as the screen ribbon is looped through the main board just to squash that rumour that you can go through front whole only.

I also broke my ROG Phone ll recently. Sent it back for repair. I was willing to pay the £226. Then they sent me an email stating the screen part I need no longer exists. That's some bull****, I bet they took parts as to expensive to get so they tell you a lie by saying part no longer exists.
Depends where you sent it to. Proper certified repair place won't tell you such thing since they know this device is new and parts are still available.
After complaining, they said that in certain circumstances they can send devices to Poland. Got them to do it, and I received my phone a week ago with a new frame, screen and battery.
Not sure if it would have happened if I didn't kick up a fuss

Well lately battery is stuck strongly with adhesive tape. So removing the battery will damage the battery to, so that's why battery is replaced aswell free of charge.
Even Samsung does the same to their phones.
But good that you complained so it got repaired and is like new now

How is the screen quality? Do you have the link of the seller you bought? I would not like to try the lottery and get the same ass yours if it worked well. Thanks!
Looking just as good as the one I had before and the part looked identical to the one that was removed. I'm not gonna post the link here as I I'm not sure if it will get moderated away but sent you a DM.
