Hi,
Magisk Manager new version can't patch .md5 or .tar files anymore.
Magisk just close itself when clicking to "let's go" after adding the file to patch...
This is a serious problem for the samsung s10 community (exynos) as we can't root S10 phones anymore.
I tried to install the older version of magisk but it doesn't allow to patch files without updating Magisk Manager....that's sucks.
Any idea how to root a Samsung s10 now as this method doesn't work anymore: https://highonandroid.com/android-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s10-s10e-s10-plus-or-a50-exynos-only/
Thanks!
That's a bug in the Canary release (build 277). Solution: use the stable release.
If you're going to be using the Canary release you're going to have to expect bugs...

Thanks for your answer, though I don't think I can use the stable version with the Samsung s10, I heard that we have to use only the Canary version :/
If you're talking about the information in that link you posted, it's quite outdated... There's been several releases since then and stable Magisk should work just fine.

Yes I was talking about the link I posted. I will try the stable one and comeback here to post the result.
Thanks a lot!
Everything is working just fine with the stable version, thanks for your help Didgeridoohan !

Hi I have Xperia z5 nougat 7.1.1.. Can anyone sent me the Magisk version v14.2.. V15 and V15.4 in zip original file and stable?
Magisk v14.2 was never a stable release and neither was v15.4. You can find v15.4 in the OP of the beta thread.
Magisk v15.0 had some serious issues in Magiskboot. You don't want it...
Oh thanks to tell me.. Now I have the magisk manager 5.5.5 and magisk v14 and work perfect with my phone.. The v14 is stable right? you suggest me keep this? Because the latest magisk manager and Magisk not working good with my phone.. The latest magisk manager delete itself my modules every time I close my phone and open again all modules deleted itself.. And magisk v16 have issues with root Browser from Rom Toolbox
There's no need to update just for the sake of updating. If it works it works...
True.. Thanks I stay in the I have because work perfect..and I don't like beta version Just ask if must update because some new features in new version only for that.. You know which version is stable and how download original?
All officially available stable versions are attached to the OP of the release thread.
Thanks.. You have the magisk manager 5.6.1?
Yes
And work all good? Not delete itself modules? And if you have and latest magisk v16 can you try root Browser paste and copy try from one folder to another in the internal memory etc from download to music folder can paste? Or from internal to SD card?https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummyapps.rootbrowser.classic
Yes, I pretty much always use the latest releases (or newer ).
That root browser works perfectly fine for me. No issues copying or pasting anything.
Understand something with my phone not working good.. What phone you have and android?
OnePlus 3T, OxygenOS 5.0.2 (Android 8.0).
Understand I have Xperia z5 nougat 7.1.1.. One last can check this app hex Editor.. In my phone when put inside the app Root permissions say always this problem to detecting root the app hex Editor say.. Can not change shell, is your phone rooted? Stream closed.. if you can.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tuba.tools
Nah. That one doesn't work. Probably needs to be updated to work with MagiskSU.
Understand thanks for your opinion and help. Bye
OK, so I'm running Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 (Nougat 7.1.2) on a Galaxy Note 4. Magisk stable works fine on this ROM.
But when I download the canary installer zip from GitHub (has "debug" in zip name), it flashes fine, but when I boot into Android, manager says Magisk isn't installed (i.e. not in ramdisk/sbin mode, no config options available, apps say I'm not rooted).
I recently flashed canary on another device, and I think the UI is a massive improvement over the stable UI. And also because Substratum can theme canary but not stable (I use Swift Black, Flux black edition, and Pitch Black).
Canary used to work on my Note 4, but that was several months ago, with an older version.
Since a direct install of canary renders it essentially not working, how can I upgrade from stable to canary?
Thanks!
Please use your brain and Search on Google "Magisk canary" thx...
And look at XDA page for support

@black_file: What makes you think I didn't already google it? That's the first thing I did before making this thread. And if you google "magisk canary XDA", you will see that the canary support thread is locked...which means I can't post for help there. So I decided it would be better to create a thread.
People like you are exactly the reason why I have 2 infractions. You ****post and insult, then expect the other person to just lay down and take it. But I won't.

Ha he didn't mean post your question there. He meant actually read it.
Canary is only debug now so need to use Magisk Manager (Debug). You should restore your current Magisk Manager before updating the app. Then follow the instructions on the page you already searched for.
Edit: Actually just use this link for the custom update url. https://github.com/topjohnwu/magisk_files/raw/canary/debug.json
I have an old Samsung Galaxy J7 Max Indian version G615F phone with Android 7.1 and was intending to upgrade my Magisk on it. I was succesfully upgrade to verison 21 the latest stable. However it looks like canary does not support Android Nougat? Magisk Manager succesfully installed as canary version however if i update Magisk on canary channel (Direct Install (Recommended) )after reboot will be just simply uninstalled. Strange.
I use Magisk for a few things, notably to setup tethering for my grandfathered unlimited plan. Curious if you had any luck with Magisk and, if so, how did you set it up?
Thanks!
Eric
I've tried and failed.
Magisk manager fails at the 'repacking' stage when attempting to patch boot.img.
This is using either release or Canary versions of the magisk APK, and using the boot.img extracted from the official Pixel 5 Factory image. I've even tried running Magisk manager from a different device.
I hope we can figure this out soon, as I can't really start using the Pixel 5 as my main phone until it's rooted.
Bump
For me the Canary Version 21005 worked.
Downloaded it (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/topjohnwu/magisk_files/canary/app-debug.apk), changed the release channel to Canary in the app aswell and patched the original boot.img from the factory image.

Hello everyone I'm not used to post anything on forums. But this time i'm stuck big time. It's been four days since began to try to root my newly updated phone but I must miss something because i can't get anything working. I've tried the few methods i could find but none of them work. If someone got an idea or a life saving post on any serious android website, it is very welcome.
Thanks to anyone who will help in advance.
try the latest canary build, others have said that works on OneUI 4.
you should keep any modules zips you want as you can download them in the canary build..

I'm lost and on QPR3 (T3B3.230413.009) rooted with magisk and pixel flasher (update 05/2023). I want to opt out to come to stable version but I have no idea which version I can update to without losing my data.
I never "opted in" with any account, I just clean installed a beta build and updated with pixel flasher to the latest betas available on the QPR website (when language settings was english).
I'm very confused if the "opt out stable firmware" is not available yet or if I do need to flash something else. Maybe somebody with more unterstanding can provide a link to the file I need to flash with pixel flasher.
thanks
Edit:
Solution here

Going back to stable is not possible without a data wipe, unfortunately.
If you no longer want to run the beta, just flash the latest factory image. You'll need to wipe data though, otherwise it will just bootloop.
I don't quite understand the information from here: official google information website where it says somewhere at the bottom something about leaving beta without losing data. Is this to late or wrong?

Since you never opted in you shouldn't need to opt out. You can check the beta page to see if you are opted in but you shouldn't be since you flashed the image rather than opting in.
You should also be able to flash the June stable update without having to wipe since you are going from the QPR3 Beta to the QPR3 Stable version.
Thanks so coming from "T3B3.230413.009" I dirty flash "TQ3A.230605.012" from here?
by the way the beta QPR3 firmware website is vanished I cannot find it any more.

Since the A13 QPR Beta program has ended they probably took down the page.
I will do it later and will report my success (hopefully).

You can also check the A14 Beta page to see if you are enrolled since those enrolled in the A13 QPR Beta program will be automatically enrolled in the A14 Beta program. But I don't think you will be.

Thank you, it worked! I'm now on stable release "TQ3A.230605.012".
