MP3s on SD don't play anymore after Link2SD - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

I use PlayerPro to play my MP3s. It used to work great! After I installed Link2SD and set up a second partition, now it always says the file type is unsupported (which is bs because it's an MP3). I can use the the Sony Music player to play the same files. Also PlayerPro can play them if they're not on the SD card. What got screwed up and how do you fix this? Does it have to do with FAT32 not supporting file properties?

[SOLVED] MP3-Files from external sdcard

Hey everybody,
im wondering if there is a possibility to get the buildin mp3-player indexing my mp3 files on my external sd as well.
Until now the buildin mp3-player is only indexing the files that are on the internal sdcard, but not any of my files on my external sdcard. Do you have the same problem? or ist it a folder problem?
Thx in advance!
I created a folder on the External SD called Media, then within it a folder called Music, put All my MP3 in it and the media player sees them all just fine.
It should index your sd card.
Can you access the files via the explorer?
Check if its in there correctly.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
it is working out of the box for me
i dumped all my movies and mp3 files into the EXTERNAL SD card and the build in Samsung Music Player plays it just fine.
the only annoying thing is that it needed you to select which songs/album/artist to play.
so after spending a few hours finding another App, i ended up with this "Player" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081) App, you just select the folders you want to play, and it plays everything inside them all
so... very curois. i created a folderstructure like this sdcard\sd\media\Album1, album2, album3.
The buildin Media player is not indexing them.. so i opened my file explorer and navigated to sdcard\sd\media\Album1 and clicked song1. The buildIn Media Player is playing it.
After that i installed the "Player" from Allgamers hint. when i select a folder and want to play the songs within it says that the playlist is empty, sam problem if i only mark 1 mp3-file. "The playlist is empty"
So the only way to play my files on the external sd is to click them, title per title... Very strange. Is that a problem of the indexer? or my sd?
My Phone: XWJM7, rooted an OCLF
Thx for all your fast answers!
So i think my problem is solved!
Because of your hints i reformated my external sd with my phone, and now it works with no problems. All files are indexed, no matter what folder they are saved in!
Thank u all for tipps and hints!

Getting internal memory recognized by non-BN apps?

Anyone found a way to, for example, get music stored on your nook internal memory recognized by the android media scanner? Or is there a way to mount the internal storage so it is recognized as part of the sdcard or something along those lines?
I want those 5 gigs!
Different Media Player
Well, the Froyo Media player actually plays music from internal. However, the alternative here is to use a different media player which allows you to access different storages. I like player pro on the phone, but don't know if it would work on the Nook. Have you also tried Mixzing?
not running froyo atm, will flash it when its able to run off system memory not sd card. good suggestion with mixzing, but it does not "see" the internal flash mem even when you try to specify specific folders in settings.
oh and player pro works great on the nook fyi, though it doesnt solve my particular issue.
Well, Poweramp plays internal memory, well it does on my phone anyway XD

Google music help!

I downloaded a couple of songs this morn from google music (for the first time). I was directed to download the google music player, and was able to listen to the songs. But, when I went into winamp to play songs that are on my ex sd card, no music shows up. I tried another player (miui) and same thing, no music shows up.
I went to unmount and remount ex sd and IT'S not showing up. I'm able to go into root explorer and see and play any of the songs. I physically removed and re-installed the ex sd, still not being recognized.
So, I deleted the google music app, still no go.
Any suggestions/help??
Thanks!
Nm.... figured it out
How were you able to do it?

[Q] Ringtones change on their own after Rooting

Nexus One rooted (frustrated with lack of internal memory) with DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su. No Mod's, still running stock 2.3.6 32Gig SD external memory. First install was Titanium Backup Next install was Link2SD. After moving all the apps to the new Ext3 partition using Link2SD, my ringtones were playing an audio mp3 book! ? I also during this time added a new song to my library... wrote a new playlist called 506 songs and deleted playlist 505 songs.
What is happening is I set my ringtones for my Gmail accounts (Regular Telus Mail Account does not change!). Everything is fine until ?? an app update or I mount the SD card through my computer. Now the ringtones change to an audiobook and my music player looses the new playlist of 506 and shows the previously deleted 505 songs! (and yes I can play the songs with the playlist).
After many days of scratching I rebooted, had it working normally with the 506 songs playlist and choosen ringtones, I opened up link2SD app and BAM! back to 505 songs!
Any ideas?
What are the other apps you moved to SD Card?
I got the same problem with different context. I moved some themes to SD card, when I connect to the other, N1 got rebooted? Is the same case with you?
I moved "all the apps" = non system to the SD Ext3 partition.
I never had a re-boot problem. I simply was waking up to a boring audio book, which I found unacceptable!
Sorry, what do you mean by audiobook?
au·di·o·book/ˈôdē-ōˌbo͝ok/
Noun: An audiocassette recording of a reading of a book.
More info »Wikipedia - Merriam-Webster
Also in CD or MP3 format...
I know the meaning
I doubted whether its an app, as I never used in my N1
No App used to play audio books other than the stock music player.
I have since Factory Reset, reloaded & updated stock apps. Re Rooted using Doomed and added Link2SD...
fine for a few days and now mp3 player shows 506 songs playlist but no songs in it. It won't play any of the 506 songs but will play some other playlists. Yes the playlists were created the same way.
Can't figure out whether it's Doomed or Link2SD doing it!!!

Walkman does not show and play external sd card content

After the last update which renamed Walkman app to Music, application does not list my music files and folders in the external sd card. Internal card content is being listed without any problem. I have uninstalled the update but still it shows nothing from sd card, even in the folders tab.
How can I make the walkman application browse and play music files located in sd card?

This must be a problem with the default Media Scanner found on the device. You could try Rescan Media Root which works wonders for most devices
Requires root permissions you can use it to force scan external sd and internal sd for audio tracks.

Yes, it was a media scan issue. I tried this app from play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.house.noranuko.mediarescanner
It solved the problem for audio tracks and walkman runs fine now. After a while I realized that ringtones are gone in whatsapp and system sound settings. I rebooted and sounds are restored gradually. Everything is well now. Though I am still curious about why this problem occured after the walkman update.
Anyway thanks and have a good day.
