What to look for in a radio - Android Auto General

I'm sending the Hizpo fakedroid I got off eBay, so im looking for another unit. I was looking for a decent unit that is root able and custom ROM capable as well. I want at least 4gb RAM and 32 to 64 bit. Any suggestions on brands?
Sent from my SM-A705MN using Tapatalk

Look for a Rockchip (PX) MTCE unit then install Malaysk or Hal9k ROM and you will have root and the best functionality. As for a specific model just look at the thread headings in the MTCD forums you will see many units listed from different resellers.

What is the difference in the px30, px5 or px6. Which is the oldest?
Sent from my SM-A705MN using Tapatalk

PX5 is the oldest from 2015 and PX30 is from 2018 but it's also the low end model being a quad core. The PX6 is the flagship model and is from 2016 find out all about them here. Looking at how old the SoC is doesn't mean much. You need to consider other factors, cost is a good starting place. The PX6 is used in top end models and is an average $50 more than a PX5 but it can run faster due to the extra cache and less heat it generates. The PX5 may have issues with throttling mostly due to the poor cooling used and can be fixed with an additional heatsink.

Look for in a radio? Look for a good third order intercept point (IP3). But you seem to be asking about something other than a radio (which has exactly NOTHING to do with Android Auto), so it doesn't belong here. You seem to be asking about car head units which run Android - go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units

Are these single din any good

What? You said "root able and custom ROM capable as well. I want at least 4gb RAM and 32 to 64 bit. " That's would be Android based unit, not one which support Android Auto.
Now you say you don't want an Android based unit.

What about these units, are they okay

Wrong forum.

Nobody is going to stick his neck out and tell you buy this or that unit. You should understand that all the crap made in China suffers from poor quality control made worse by the stupid RoHS solder they use. For that reason whether a HU is good or not is hit and miss. I guess the better question would be who provides good customer support.
I have a unit from Ownice. When it arrived the custom bezel was broken due to improper packaging. I sent them pictures and they sent me a replacement right away but they still wanted me to pay for it; a buck, I didn't fuss. I've read other accounts of them not responding to request for replacement parts. Was that because they were out of their obligation with Aliexpress' dispute system who knows but if that's the only thing making them provide support then that is not good customer support.
OTH everything I've heard so far about Dasaita is they have the best support. Seicane, Xtron, Eonon... are other brands that are mentioned. YMMV I can't vouch for any since I have no experience with them.
The factory radio in my car is part of the dash, upgrade options are limited between overpriced Metra kits or the factory upgrade or one of these Chinese HU. The later is definitely the best bang for the buck. I took my HU apart and fixed all the potential issues I noticed. There are some things I know I can't fix like BGA mounted chips so we'll see how it fares over time. If I get 3 years out of it that will be great by then something better and cheaper will be out.

Building a ROM for a Hitachi G1000

I know this board is specifically for the XDA, but I was hoping you guys would be able to help me out. I own a Hitachi G1000 which is a PocketPC Phone Edition device that runs on Sprint PCS's CDMA network. I am wanting to upgrade it to 2003, but Hitachi and Sprint claim that they will never issue such an upgrade. I was hoping to use the 2003 ROMs that were released to upgrade the XDA, but I am concerned that it would not be compatable with the G1000 because of the CDMA radio, the camera built into the phone, and the hardware keyboard. What would I need to do to build a ROM that brings the Sprint utilitys and G1000 specific drivers into the new 2003 system, or is it even possible without assistance from Hitachi?
I think it would be very hard. most of the core part of the os
is very customized by HTC. I guess the same would hold for the g1000.
however, it would be possible to modify the romkitch/mkrom tools to create extended roms, based on your current rom version.
if these specs are correct
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,18795&start=1
then it's not going to happen
because of the whole
32MB Flash EEPROM (Note: OS is not upgradeable or reflashable)
Darn it. I also have a Hitachi G1000, and was hoping to use the ROM upgrades. Not to PPC2003, but rather just the enhancements for PPC2002. I have read many places that the ROM is EPROM, but this article does make me wonder.
Checked Hitachi, it's EEPROM, darn it, darn it, darn it. Looks more and more like they weren't sure if the thing would sell, or even take in the market. Some of the things/specs seem quite a bit short sighted on Hitachi's and Sprint's part. I love the device, but as I look to upgrade, or expand it's abilities, I become more and more dissappointed.
I feel your pain
The lack of expansion and upgrade options for the Sprint System is why I am getting rid of them and Getting an XDA. I really liked my 2032sp but I wanted a bit more. I have gotten an XDA and upgraded it to 128mb of Ram, an 1800 Battery and I can use it on any GSM Network. Good luck in seeking upgrade paths.
Yeah, I'm not a big GSM/GPRS fan. I can atleast get bursts of 80-100k on the 1xRTT, Sprint uses. Went with the Hitachi for the faster proc and keyboard, too. Probably just have to wait for the next gen of them.

Wts fuze / touch pro, ***look***

***PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK IF YOU VIEW***I know most of you on here know all ths stuff already, but this is my post i'm broadcasting on the various forums i am a part of. anyone that is interested, don't hesitate to pM or post, this is no joke or scam or anything, just trying to get this thing gone. don't be afraid to offer, whats the worse that could happen?***
This is one of AT&T's flagship phones. In my opinion, this is the best phone available one the market today, beating the Xperia X1, iPhone, etc.
I've always been a phone freak, and I do EXTENSIVE research before purchasing a new one. I've been dealing with HTC phones for over 3 years now, and I've never had a desire to go with another company. I love windows mobile and all the cool things you can do with it. The list of programs and applications is endless.
The phone has a GPS receiver built right into it, and I loaded TomTom 7 on it, making it a fully functional GPS unit. It also features a 3.2MP camera with a super bright flash, built in FM tuner, business card reader, mp3 player, picture and video viewer, and lots of other great things. Windows Mobile 6.1 works flawlessly on this phone, thanks to the OEM HTC ROM I flashed on this FUZE, essentially making it a HTC Touch Pro.
The new Touch Flo 3D interface is something to behold. This phone is absolutely beautiful, from it's high resolution VGA screen to its "diamond cut body" and perfect form factor.
I bought this phone for over $500, and I have to say, it was worth every penny. I'm selling it cheap, so don't miss out on this sweet oppurtunity. Thanks alot for reading, and happy buying.
Please no low balls, I'd prefer cash but may consider trades. I accept paypal and money orders. Due to my low feedback, I will work with you as far as shipping arrangements go. I will provide contact information upon payment, and provide confirmation numbers and information upon receiving.
Pictures!

i need cash quick.. got in a pretty bad car accident and I have zero transportation, gotta pay my car insurance. I bought a piece of **** car for $300, and i don't think it would be cool to have a cell phone that is worth more than my car.

^ This. It sounds VERY similar, but it's taken almost a year this to come out, and the NC is already fairly established (same thing with the Kindle Fire). It's the way of things. At least when you're ready to put the Nook into retirement, there should be a strong upgrade to go to.
It's a rooted Nook, which is a step up from the Fire....
Kobo Vox and an Easy Nook Color 2 Upgrade
The Kobo's most promising feature is definitely the AFFS+ display, something that could easily be added to the NC2. If it was just an updated NC then it should have bluetooth and FM in it. I was thinking that an easy NC2 update for B&N would be to:
1) Replace the IPS display with an AFFS+ one.
2) Enable hardware support for Bluetooth AND the FM radio.
3) ICS! Android 4.0
4) Video out?
I am not talking about an uber tab here, after all the NC is and will likely stay an e-reader primarily. It does what it needs to, and there is no reason to add more horsepower under the hood. But even if they only did what I suggest, and lowered the price it would likely fly...
They will probably not do it like that, and will probably f it up by taking out things that make it popular ( east rooting and booting from the card slot? ).
Still, for the least amount of investment, and maximizing their current designs lifespan that is definitely what I would do.

That sounds pretty good... of course with a slight bump in cpu and memory...a killer GPU is probably too much to ask for an ereader More seriously though, better speakers would be nice too and/or pen input.

This reminds me of the viewsonic gtablet I got for free, rooted it with hc and then gave away for free. It had decent hardware for how old it was, but weighed enough to kill someone if you needed to use it for self defense purposes
It wasn't "the hot thing" on the market though, so custom roms for it were rare because it'd be like putting a custom paint job on a Kia... fail.
If people buy these things and there is support in the dev community out there it could be good, but I keep hearing this voice in my head thats saying "you get what you pay for".

Installing a Nexus 7 Gen 2 in my BMW e46 - Do i need a cd/radio player?

So i got my new car today
And found a site that sells a "complete" kit for installing a Nexus 7 Gen 2 in the car.
However (i feel like I'm a senior for asking this, but here it goes):
Product: http://www.ironlight.us/products/
Dont i need to use the old cdplayer/radio unit here?Im not interested in those function and actually just want Spotify and navigation. But i have seen other videos where people have cd players/radio units behind the tablet in the dash. This uses and amp instead
If u see the wiring schematics, is that enough to get it up and running and i can just take out my cd player and reattach if/when i sell my car.

Hello,
Based on the diagram here you do not need your radio. This set up will make your Nexus 7 the stand alone device. All of the audio will be provided directly from the Nexus 7. From what I see here you basically just remove the radio, install a small amplifier, dash kit and your Nexus 7. It should plug straight into your factory speaker system.
Note: I am just assuming from the pictures you have provided, actual results may vary.

Thanks, really appreciate it.
I guess i loose some audio quality over the DAC alternative, but atleast its using a ground loop isolator which should help with RF noise and distortion.
Only thing now to "worry" about is that the thing i didn't think about was me having the new Nexus 7 tablet, and since I'm new to android, i don't know if for example cardroid rom works on the 2013 nexus 7, or just the old one.
But appreciate your help mate
