Is it worth rooting my moto x?

Hey guys. When my moto x finally arrives on the 15th of december (seems to take forever to get shipped from china to the uk lol) is it going to be worth me rooting the device? And if so does the bootloader need to be unlocked? And if i do root will i still get OTA updates?
Its been a long time since i last had a device with an unlocked bootloader and root lol
Sent from my SM-G900F
Yes bootloader needs to be unlocked to root. As long as you have the stock recovery you can still take OTAs.. In my opinion I would say root is needed for greenify and SetCPU to try an squeeze as much better life out of the small battery as you can

Unlock bootloader allowed from NO to YES after waranty end

Hi i just had the strangest experience and i would like to know if it possible such thing.
I had a contract Z5C to Vodafone 2 years ago. In this time every-time i accessed the service menu i had a network lock and option Boot-loader unlock allowed to NO and adb unlock command would allways fail.
I went to a Sony store last year and they said that after i network unlock it, the option will become YES (for boot-loader).
Now the fun stuff :
I finally got from Vodafone the unlock code but big surprise : My phone is already network unlocked and the Boot-loader unlock allowed is YES, so at this point the code received from Vodafone is useless.
The only thing i can think of is that it automatically unlocked at the end of the warranty (expired on 26 last month). So is this possible? to automatically network unlock after warranty end?
P.S.: This evening, once i`m home, i will try again to unlock the boot-loader (i already backed up the DRM keys by downgrading using yoviroot last year).

Cant Downgrade to December 2017 Nougat Update

I tried to unlock my OEM BOOTLOADER UNLOCK option by waiting 168 hours withour rebooting my phone and still didn't get that option. I read somewhere to downgrade back to DECEMBER 7.1 NOUGAT release and then wait for 168 hours for OEM UNLOCK option to be available. When I tried downgrading, I got this option. Does anyone have any proper idea or solution for this fix?

You're trying to flash a rev 1 firmware while you have a rev 2 bootloader installed in your phone (XXU1 vs. XXU2). You can't downgrade from rev 2 to rev 1 bootloader, all you can do is flash a 7.1.1 firmware that has rev 2 bootloader inside

Thanks alot but no thanks, your response is dead late and secondly I don't give a Da*n F**cK anymore. I sold the phone because the whole point of doing all that was to ROOT and UNLOCK my BL which never happened. The OEM UNLOCK button never appeared for me after keeping my device for 40 days.
Now I am all SONY and they respect the BL UNLOCKING and easily allow it.
Peace

I'v managed to unlock my device.
My device already working.
I think you can only unlock 1 device at a time(in a month) in a single account!
