I recently got LG G8 LMG820UM and I am not able to get the update.
Then I tried to go to bootloader. Google security message is shown there that bootloader is unlocked.
There is no bootloader menus and the LGUP tool cannot detect. Cannot go into recovery mode.
I tried LG bridge to update but stuck at 5%.
On the phone I am seeing Modified E/L/ R0 / Id() in red color.
I tried adb. I can view devices via adb and can give commond to reboot to bootloader but phone reboots to system.
Can anyone please help me to update the phone.
Thanks in advance.

I saw on here if you remove your Sim card, then factory reset and don't connect to anything including wifi, so skip everything to get to the home screen. Then connect to WiFi and check for updates it works. I did it and boom, I had to go through about 5 updates, but it all worked.

Thanks, but I am sorry that it does not work for me. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I Factory reset the phone without SIM. Then I skipped everything to reach home and then connect to WiFi. I checked for updates and It said, I am using latest version in this phone
My current phone security patch is April 2019 under Android 9.
I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Anyway, thanks for the help.

Were you able to update to Android 10? I'm having the same issue and also tried to reset without a SIM card in it.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue? I am having the same problem. Android 9 ROM with April 2019 security update. LG820UM.
No method worked to get an update. Neither OTA nor via LG Bridge
have you guys tried manually updating thru LGUP?
I'm on a different version (Sprint G820U10i) but also stuck at April 2019.
If someone could provide me the OTA file I can try to use the LGUP software to do manual upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
So I wanted to prepare my unlocked Nexus 6 on T-mobile for my brother by completely un-rooting and then relocking to setup stock firmware. With the help of “Nexus Root Toolkit” it was a quick update. I simply picked up the latest firmware for t-mobile, then relocked - and off you go.
The Phone was ok for couple of days, but then google pushed new update – which would render my phone useless. After update Initially the phone went through the boot almost to the end, and then exception happened. Something about system UI crashing and then screen was unavailable. So I could not do anything on the phone.
I tried fixing with “Nexus Root Toolkit” (unlocking, rooting etc.), but at this point the phone is stock on booting (few colored dots signifying loading), but the phone never actually boots. Going to Factory reset or Recovery does nothing.
Is there anything else I can try please?
Thanks,
-Mariusz

There's not much you can do here. If you don't have TWRP or unlocked bootloader, you should just RMA the device direct through Motorola.
You could try to sideload the update you had received that caused this.
Other than that, RMA.
I was hoping not to hear RMA - but thanks for the reply.
Hey,
I was running Android P Beta, and had an OTA update today.
As it's been said on the beta topic, it apparently put me back on Oreo (the pattern lock is different on P).
But now I can't unlock the phone with the pattern at boot. When I put it the right pattern, it gives me a black screen, and ask me to unlock again.
So nothing's coming up, no wifi, no backup etc.
Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this **** ?
Thanks guys.

Thanks for your answer.
I know I could do that, but I'd like to be able to get some data back first (like whatsapp messages).
Whichi is why I'm trying to find a workaround, but so far it's not really a success.
have you tried android unlock my phone method?
Go to google and sign in. Then go to find/locate my device and then check the option unlock my phone. It will help surely.

i think that OTA update on Android P is in real "Android 0 8.1 June Update", as mentioned here, if this true that's the reason why you have problems
Hi,
I am currently the owner of a P10 VTR-L09GBRC5555
The phone is branded by Three UK(carrier) but not locked into theyr network. I am on android 7.0 nougat (B152) and after a while I realised that the software update option is nowhere to be seen. I unlocked the bootloader before but locked it back beacouse I wasn't able to use banking apps beacouse of it. I have a screenshot of my device with the software update missing, any ideas why this is happening? Do let me know if you need any more info I can provide in the hope that somebody can help me.
Regards
Where's your screenshot?
The unlocked bootloader and root can be hid by MagiskHide - it works fine BTW.
Only fix I can provide you is to do a factory reset via eRecovery.
Backup all your data with HiSuite app on PC - note that it doesn't backup Photos and Videos, so copy them manually to SD or PC.
Then boot into eRecovery by connecting USB, power off the phone and power it on again while holding Vol+.

I get this message when I try to upload a link to my picture.

Are you sure that f/w is correct? Have you flashed a different firmware when rooting etc and now update is missing? The option to update should still be on HiSuite if you plug into computer?

I don't believe Magisk hides from all banking apps etc. I used to have it on my old phone and Barclays wouldn't hide. Have asked people to confirm if this is still the case but haven't had a response.

Hi, and thank you for your involvement, I hadn't flashed anything on the phone. When I unlocked it via a code from Huawei I was trying to rebrand it from Three UK to a normal variant, non branded by carrier. As I read online rebranding must be done to a VTR L29, so a dual sim or else my sim would not be recognizer. The rebranding process didn't take place beacouse I did not know how to do it, it is just too complicated for me. At the time I had B152 on the phone, and I found in FF an approved B152 software, and I flashed that, or rather just made a kind of software update via system update option. Since then I seem to be missing the update software option. The screenshot is missing from the tread beacouse I am a newbie and the forum will not let me upload things yet.
Regards.
Fix?
Hi, did you ever find a fix for this? I am having the same issue. Currently on B152 with no stock applications and update settings missing

Hi
I did a rebrand, so new software, converted it from Three Uk branded phone to dual sim international variant, with the help of xda user jannomag, hope this helps.
I don't have my username or password for my US997 G6 and I tried loading the .kdz ROM from the factory using LGUP and the phone in Download Mode. That didn't really start from a clean slate since the problem still happens.
After boot it it wants to connect to wifi in the new phone setup and then get me to login to google. I can't login. The phone has an unlocked bootloader, I get scary danger text when initially powering it on but I can only do download mode I think?
How could I lay a ROM on it that wipes the FRP account w/out booting to fastboot? Is there a hack I could do? I'd hate to toss the phone, it still is a great device.
Do you have android 7.0? Or newer?
If you have nougat than you can unlock it in 5-15 seconds making initial configuration screen crash and ending up on home screen.

I dont know, it was working on android 7.
Try this
https://www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=sGXc1sQkG2s
There is only one way to find out.
If didn't, try searching in youtube "lg g6 frp" or something like that.

I did have Android 7. I followed that tutorial but when the screen was bypassed, the phone did an automatic wipe and did a factory reset and put the phone back to a brick state.
Motivated by that video, I retried the steps but this time after connecting to WIFI and before doing the bypass, I disabled the internet on the WIFI hotspot but kept the WIFI connection UP. Then followed the steps so Android couldn't connect to the internet and it let me in. Thank you!!
Factory Reset Protection is generally an anti-theft measure; the best way around it is to reset your Google password.
Otherwise, a method for FRP unlock is available on the XDA Portal.
@powershift if this is a device you recently purchased, I'd suggest contacting the seller. If it actually is your device, try resetting your Google account password using a PC.
If you still need it done I can let you know what I did, and share the files. Spent about 14 hours finally figuring out a method around the FRP. It will depend what version it's on though

Hey can you dm me I got a second hand lgv20 but the steps shouldn't be so different, it's a ls997 and it's on 7.0 zv5
So.... I removed my Pixel 5 form the beta 13 program, selected update on the devices and had it download Android 12 a few weeks back. On reboot I get the "device is corrupt" error with visit the g.co/ABH link. If I hit the power button that error loops, and trying a hard / factory reset does nothing.
I tried several of the steps but since I cannot get into Dev mode to unlock the bootloader I'm kind of stuck.
The most I have been able to do is with the rescue tool, but that throws a "software on device is newer then this tool" error and wont go forward.
Any suggestions? Should I just send in to a repair shop? Or move on?
I heard from a friend yesterday that this happens with USB C to USB C. Try an A or B port and sideload the OTA

As recommended by @xunholyx try sideloading the OTA, if you're able to get into recovery.
If you didn't have OEM unlocking enabled in Developer Options, you might be SOL.

Yeah since the OEM unlock was not in place before the beta downgrade was triggered and failed, I can't get into the OS to turn it on. So SOL I bet

Unfortunate and I feel for you.
It's generally advisable to always unlock the bootloader when running any kind of beta software, just because of this eventuality - if something goes wrong, you need to have a way to recover the device.

You should be able to boot to recovery from the bootloader
I can boot to recovery, but the software wont sideload since the boot locker is locked.
My one hope is the fact Rescue mode on the web is throwing "software on the device older then this tool" so I am hoping once that gets a newer version I will be ok. So into the drawer it goes...
But you don't need an unlocked bootloader to sideload an OTA....

Try flashing it a second time when you get the error. A friend is mine had trouble with it and a locked bootloader as well. I don't remember how he fixed it, but I think that that was it. I'll get in touch with him later. I'm at work right now
