The above is the thread of the 64 Bit Rom developed by the awesome developer VACHE.
It's my request to the Moto G5s Plus Developers to bring a 64 Bit Rom here.
THIS MAY BE GROUNDBREAKING...
The G5S Plus is a relatively new phone. Give it a few months and once it's gained traction I'm sure we'll get a 64 bit port :good:
You guys are also running 32-bit stock OS just like G5+?

question

Is the Moto G6 play a arm or arm 64 ?
If I remember correctly the hardware is arm64 but the OS that was used is arm/arm32.

64bit Rom

Is there a way to leave the firmware as it is and only increase it to 64bit without changing much?
no, thats not how that works at all.

The only possibility of getting to 64-bit is if motorola releases 64-bit source code after launch, and then someone creates a custom rom using it. This actually happened with the original Moto Z Play, so there is a chance. But we're not there yet.

Is it possible that it gets 64bit with the pie update?

Likely only if a device originally shipped with the 64 bit OS (e.g. G6 Plus). If you've got the G6 with a 32 bit OS, the update would likely be 32 bit, with you requiring custom development for a 64 bit custom ROM. From what I understand, moving from 32 bit to 64 bit may need a device wipe, which a lot of users (especially non-XDA or non enthusiast users) may not understand or happy with if that was mandatory for a system update.
What's the point in having 64bit on this device?

As far as I know, mainly the reason for wanting 64 bit on the G6 would be to use certain apps that are only 64 bit (e.g. Google Camera and in this case, fortnite). The G6 has 4 GB of RAM so the memory addressing advantage wouldn't be in use (unlike the G6 plus which can include up to 6 GB apparently), though could be argued you may get better performance from 64 bit. However, drivers may have to be re written or modified from the 32 bit system to work on the 64 bit, even if you could flash the 64 bit custom ROM, there may be bugs.
As a non-developer, it would be my assumption that the bootloader and vendor files would have to know how to interact with 64bit parameters. Despite our hardware supporting 64bit, the underlying software must support it as well. Like others have said, Motorola would have to release the source or build it for us.
I dont know a lot about this, but i think the Moto G5 Plus community got it.
They did the firmware 64 bit despite the fact that Motorola didnt do anything

The stock ROM is 32-bit and the new GCam Mods are based on the 64-bit releases of the app, that's why you are getting the 'App not installed error', and as far as I know, porting all these new features to an older 32-bit release is a lot of hard work if it is even possible. The solution right now is using a custom ROM or using an older camera mod without portrait mode.

I know but custom roms is not secure as stock roms are and flashing custom roms may void warranty. In moto g5s plus camera2api is enabled by default with level 3 support except armv8a(64-bit).
Yeah that's the point, we only have a 32-bit environment, and the newer GCam versions are 64-bit only, and it would be a pain in the a** to port all the 64-bit libraries and stuff to 32-bit. That's why I think asking for a 32-bit version is useless, but obviously there's no harm in asking. That was only my view on this topic.
moto sucks because still using 32bit mode in 64bit capable phone.. I moved to custom rom after few days using it.. It's better and can install gcam without issues.. before this I'm using xiaomi phone.. it's cheaper than this moto running on Android 7.1 with snapdragon 435 and its full 64bit... It's kinda shame for moto g5s plus, it's a bit expensive, use better processor with better camera setup but stuck with 32bit ??

I don't have this device, but I'm pretty sure most likely has a 64 bits processor. You can confirm it yourself by installing and checking an app like Device Info (or similar) from Play Store.
