BUT BUT BUT what the two experts have missed out is on explaining a clear step by step guide for a complete noob like me . So this is an attempt to explain every step. My tab had root in less than 10 mins .
why i needed the root ?
16gb is not enough for the tab so i wanted to apps and data to be moved to the sd card .
Here are the steps
On the Pc
1. Download the stock firmware (must be the same as in your tab) from samfirmware or any other source.
2. Extract the firmware and the extract archive called AP... . Once extracted you will have a boot.img file in it.
On the TAB
3. Activate developer options by clicking the software version 5 times.
4. In the developer options check OEM unlock and USB debugging
5. Download Magisk Manager v16 from xda and install on the TAB.
Connect the tab to the pc
6. Copy the boot.img file from pc to the tab.
7. Run Magisk Manager and in settings choose the output format as odin compatible tar,
8. Click the INSTALL button in the MAGISK manager and choose 'patch boot image file'
9. After a few minutes a dark screen will appear will read all ok boot image patched...now copy that patched_boot.img.tar file from the tab to the PC and rename it as boot.img.tar
On the Tab
10. Recheck under developer options if check OEM UNLOCK and USB DEBUGG
11. DELETE the GOOGLE account (crucial)
12. Switch of the tab
13. Go to download mode by holding vol down, menu and power together , once asked press vol up to go to the download mode.
14. Connect tab to PC.
On the PC
15. Download ODIN and once downloaded right click and run as administrator.
16. Choose AP and select the previously patched boot.img.tar file.
17. Click START
On the TAB
18. It will run the download and restart , restart will say "VERIFICATION FAILED and aask to RESET and erase .
19. CLICK RESET
20. wait for reset saying ERASING and let the tab restart.
NOW the next step is the most crucial one and it is where i got stuck as none of the members who have rooted their device mention it. I did all of the above procedures repeatedly and failed to get root until i realized there was one FINAL CRUCIAL STEP before enjoying the root.
LAST STEP
ON THE TAB
After the TAB restarts , fill in the initial details (google , samsung account, wifi etc) and before you do anything else INSTALL THE MAGISK MANAGER V16 app you downloaded from XDA .......thats it ....you have root access now . ENJOY!
How did you install Magisk?
When I open Magisk Manager v5.6.4, I get a "Magisk is not installed" and I only have the settings option.
No "install" options.
I have the same tablet. don't know of any twrp that can work with it, therefore leaving me with Magisk Manager only.

SOLVED: You must have a functioning network interface in order for the "install" button to appear and you need internet connection to "install the v16 zip".
Magisk is OpenSource though, right? so probably it can be changed to allow offline installation as well.

Well Crap...I just got my Nice, New, Sparkleing Tab Active2 and cant root it yet. I have the New US version SM-T397U Unlocked model. cant find a Stock firmware on Sammobile as of yet...any ideas?
EDIT: Neeeevermind... I did a lil hacking and cracking (for about 26min, lol) to find the files I needed for the SM-T397U. If anyone is looking for em let me know and I'll shoot em' your way. Guessing I'm the first person to root a T397U, hope more will follow. I havent even had this thing 6 hours yet. Thanks for the write up and all those that contributed to the tools and info!
I followed every steps till the end and everything went smoothly. But once I rebooted the tablet, I got the red label on the top left corner: "custom binary blocked by OEM lock". The tablet won't boot properly anymore "OEM unlock" was enabled in the Developers options, I double checked to be sure before flashing.
Edit:
Actually, the "custom binary blocked by OEM lock" appears as soon as I modify the system partition (I wanted to modify the Generic.kl in the keylayout folder on the system partition). If you do not touch anything, everything is fine.

Backup all of your important files before you flash the patched boot.img using odin.
I tried to backup my app data using samsung switch and it worked, but didn't restore most of my device settings and all of my app data.
(Good thing I kept backups for my important apps that had in app backup functionality - like Nova launcher and Squid)
Keep in mind that you probably won't be able to get OTA updates after you perform these steps, it doesn't matter though since this tablet isn't going to be updated that frequently (The 8.0 update is going to come at the end of 2018, source)

I have wasted hours on this, waited weeks, tried the date trick with a legit setup, but the oem unlock never appears, running oldest version of firmware 7.1.1 feb 2018, what gives?
Tried reinstalling firmware via odin, successful flash but no factory reset. Suspect this made no difference. Got the security fail on PIT error, needed a new version of odin and selecting individual AP etc. files fixed this.

So trying a samsung account... no dice
Now trying adding a sim card as well... success
OK after months of waiting and trying things, this just worked!
Update- I lost the date trick, have to wait 7 days after step 7 on auto date, just appears in developer options no need to press manual update.

10/ (date is now changed back to today again without my permission)
11/ (it pops up asking to install an update, despite auto updates turned off. - LATER)
12/ (last checked software date is now today (because I left wifi on I think through a reboot) this is 4/5/19 over 1 month later)
13/ go to developer options for the 27868745# time
OEM UNLOCK APPEARED HOLY ****
It is between Bluetooth HCI snoop log and Running services on the dev page, top of the developer options
Since the RMM prenormal thing triggered I had to do this again, so the above instructions do work.
If you stuff up the date just factory reset and start again. Reflash not required
I used a brand new throwaway samsung account for this but thats possibly up to you.

OK now that I've jumped through hoops, installed TWRP
I go to reboot and it's locked recovery again - repeat above OEM unlock reappearing act steps fixes RMM=prenormal. Now it's official again.

quickly press power-up-home when it resets!!!
recovery is not seandroid enforcing appears and TWRP starts.
1. back up all partitions to microsd!
2. install
a TWRP -> magisk
b TWRP -> RMM disabler - this writes to /system defeating the purpose of magisk???
wipe cache/dalvik reboot
on boot:
"Verification failed"
"Unable to restart your device the integrity verification has failed.... erase all your data"
Well recovery boots this time not an RMM error thats nice... oh it runs a few commands and automatically restarts again.

Reflash TWRP with odin, now it halts at TWRP menu.

Take 4 - try reinstating boot.img with no mods.
Try flashing stock AP -> twrp -> DMM fix -> magisk in quick succession & booting tablet

Goes to recovery - less errors on TWRP (no mount errors like before) but verification failed again.
Because TWRP is installed I don't get the erasing screen as described by OP....? TWRP does something very quickly I think it says formatting cache, it is doing a standard factory reset. Trying manual factory reset with TWRP does not work.
So I think I need TWRP to prevent DMM tripping and install magisk but I need stock recovery to avoid the verification failing constantly.
Or a new version of TWRP that supports encryption? 3230+ I have 3230...?

I tried booting stock, it says something like data corrupt on start, looks the same as the verification failed but with the different message. I let it erase/factory reset with stock recovery.
DMM preload did not trigger on this!
As soon as it succeeded I installed TWRP in case DMM triggers.

So I have not installed RMM patch (system untouched) but I did install the no encryption/dm verity patch.
It actually boots now.... will update if further problems
Interestingly OEM unlock has disappeared, so RMM must be prenormal so it will probably die on reboot. Argh. But everything is restoring OK for now. See what happens...
Magisk app auto installed and passes safetynet. Preserve force enctyption and AVB 2.0/dm-verity unchecked.
Annoyingly despite backing up all my messages to samsung they are not restoring past 20 april. Not the end of the world.

NB Magisk seems to install itself as an app - its just there.

You don't have to choose any file type. Magisk scans files automatically.
Also, if your file type is ".lz4", you have to change it to ".img". Unless, you can't continue.
@Drnms thanks for this thread. But, some places have to be updated because of new Magisk versions.

Hi, in case it is still relevant:
- Tab does a factory reset when booting first time after the boot img is flashed, data on the device is lost. Data on the SD card is not affected
- In my case, flashing boot.img with Odin didn't work. Odin said success, but no root. Heimdall worked fine, tab was rooted at first attempt
Does this guide also work for Android 9 ?
Edit: So it works with Android 9 also but I had to unpack the boot.img with 7zip ZS according to this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/samsung-a40-how-to-root.3929496/post-79902328
and re-pack it with normal 7zip according to these steps:

You have renamed the magisk_patched.img to boot.img?
You used the normal 7zip to package into a .tar file? Not the 7zZs?
You used the normal Odin 3.14?

Trying to root this tablet, when I load the patched magisk file in Odin and perform the download. The tablet restarts and loads like normal but the tablet isn't rooted.

Happened with me also...i gues the only solution is you have to uninstall mafisk via magisk uninstaller and flash it once again via whatever recovery you are using...i am also using lineage os 15.1 but with RN4....
Happened to me as well. HTC u11, ViperU 1.8.0, Android 7.1.1, TWRP 3.2.2. Tried flashing it though TWRP got a bootloop. Had to revert back to my previous nan which luckily I made yesterday.
I attempted the same, now my galaxy s6 is in a boot loop
Look other posts in this section - you should flash latest uninstaller before Magisk v17 package. It seems that some residues from v16 prevent v17 from installing correctly.

I had to reflash stock (OTA sideload version, in stock recovery) via adb sideload. Essential phone. Wifi is working now, didn't lose any data.
I'm also having the issue on my OnePlus 5T. I was running v16.0, and when I tried to flash the v17.1 zip in TWRP like usual, but it said zip signature verification failed. I flashed the Magisk uninstaller zip and tried again, but still had the same problem. I've lost root, but all my data is still intact and it never had boot issues.
After using uninstaller in recovery, restart into recovery to flash v17

Do you update from 16.0? If Yes test following:
Download the seperate MagiskManager-v5.9.1.apk
Make sure that you adb is working, connect your phone to computer

How I recovered from this on a Pixel 2 XL
I'll chime in with my experience here, as it might save someone else a lot of time if they are at my skill level with this stuff (which is only moderate, I suppose, although I do always get things to work eventually!).
As of yesterday, I had a Pixel 2 XL, rooted with Magisk, and working great. This morning, during the middle of the night, Magisk innocently asks if I want to upgrade to a new version. I was very tired (in fact, I think I was sleeping when my phone buzzed to alert me of the upgrade message) and don't even know how I responded except that it was "yes" to the upgrade part. By the time I'd fully awakened, I had a phone that waw in a boot loop. I went back to sleep, figuring I'd have better luck looking at it after a little rest.
Getting out of the boot loop was easy: I just reinstalled the August 2018 factory image for the phone. However, getting Magisk reinstalled was an adventure. I saw posts that said I should run the Magisk uninstaller, but when I did it just said that Magisk was already uninstalled. And yet, whenever I tried to apply either v16.0 or v17.1, I got errors (error codes 1, 2, and 255 at different times).
Up until this event, I'd always upgraded Magisk by installing it via TWRP. However, that was not working, so I thought I needed to try patching the boot image, something I'd never done before. Because I'd never done it before, it took me a while to understand the steps, which are actually quite simple. This is where I'm hoping I might save someone some time. Basically, my fear was not knowing which file the "boot image" was. Seasoned Android veterans might get a chuckle out of this, and that's fine, but I was looking at the file in the factory image download and basically saw only two image files: bootloader-taimen-tmz20j.img and radio-taimen-g8998-00253-1805232234.img. I was trying to figure out if either of those could be the boot image, and they both seemed pretty big to be a boot image! Finally it dawned on me that the much larger file in the directory was a zip archive (named image-taimen-ppr1.180610.009.zip). I looked inside there, and sure enough, there was a rather small file named boot.img. I was pretty sure that was the "boot image" file!
Here's what I did after that, again just hoping to help anyone who finds themselves in the same predicament I was in: Magisk is broken, root isn't working, and I can't install any of the Magisk *.zip images via TWRP.
- First, I downloaded a copy of Magisk Manager: this version is named MagiskManager-v5.9.1.apk.
- Next, I ran a couple adb commands to send the Magisk Manager apk and the stock boot.img to my phone:

adb push boot.img /sdcard/Download
- Next, I installed /sdcard/Download/Magisk-Manager-v5.9.1.apk by nagivating to it (I use ES File Manager) and launching it from there.
- Next I opened Magisk Manager
- Magisk Manager detects that there is a newer version available and asks if I want to upgrade
- I said yes
- I told it that I wanted to patch a boot image
- I chose /sdcard/Download/boot.img as the "unpatched" (stock) boot image
- Magisk Manager churned away for maybe half a minute and then produced a new file called patched_boot.img, saved in the same directory as boot.img.
After that, all I had to do was run these commands:

fastboot flash boot patched_boot.img
fastboot reboot
As soon as the phone restarted, I opened Magisk Manager again and it verified that its upgrade was successful, and root began working for me again also.
Like I said, I hope this helps someone else. If not, it's probably good for me to just write it all out anyway.

I'll chime in with my experience here, as it might save someone else a lot of time if they are at my skill level with this stuff (which is only moderate, I suppose, although I do always get things to work eventually!).
As of yesterday, I had a Pixel 2 XL, rooted with Magisk, and working great. This morning, during the middle of the night, Magisk innocently asks if I want to upgrade to a new version. I was very tired (in fact, I think I was sleeping when my phone buzzed to alert me of the upgrade message) and don't even know how I responded except that it was "yes" to the upgrade part. By the time I'd fully awakened, I had a phone that waw in a boot loop. I went back to sleep, figuring I'd have better luck looking at it after a little rest.
Getting out of the boot loop was easy: I just reinstalled the August 2018 factory image for the phone. However, getting Magisk reinstalled was an adventure. I saw posts that said I should run the Magisk uninstaller, but when I did it just said that Magisk was already uninstalled. And yet, whenever I tried to apply either v16.0 or v17.1, I got errors (error codes 1, 2, and 255 at different times).
Up until this event, I'd always upgraded Magisk by installing it via TWRP. However, that was not working, so I thought I needed to try patching the boot image, something I'd never done before. Because I'd never done it before, it took me a while to understand the steps, which are actually quite simple. This is where I'm hoping I might save someone some time. Basically, my fear was not knowing which file the "boot image" was. Seasoned Android veterans might get a chuckle out of this, and that's fine, but I was looking at the file in the factory image download and basically saw only two image files: bootloader-taimen-tmz20j.img and radio-taimen-g8998-00253-1805232234.img. I was trying to figure out if either of those could be the boot imag, and they both seemed pretty big to be a boot image! Finally it dawned on me that the much larger file in the directory was a zip archive (named image-taimen-ppr1.180610.009.zip). I looked inside there, and sure enough, there was a rather small file named boot.img. I was pretty sure that was the "boot image" file!
Here's what I did after that, again just hoping to help anyone who finds themselves in the same predicament I was in: Magisk is broken, root isn't working, and I can't install any of the Magisk *.zip images via TWRP.
- First, I downloaded a copy of Magisk Manager: this version is named MagiskManager-v5.9.1.apk.
- Next, I ran a couple adb commands to send the Magisk Manager apk and the stock boot.img to my phone:

adb push boot.img /sdcard/Download
- Next, I installed /sdcard/Download/Magisk-Manager-v5.9.1.apk by nagivating to it (I use ES File Manager) and launching it from there.
- Next I opened Magisk Manager
- Magisk Manager detects that there is a newer version available and asks if I want to upgrade
- I said yes
- I told it that I wanted to patch a boot image
- I chose /sdcard/Download/ as the "unpatched" (stock) boot image
- Magisk Manager churned away for maybe half a minute and then produced a new file called patched_boot.img, saved in the same directory as boot.img.
After that, all I had to do was run these commands:

fastboot reboot
As soon as the phone restarted, I opened Magisk Manager again and it verified that its upgrade was successful, and root began working for me again also.
Like I said, I hope this helps someone else. If not, it's probably good for me to just write it all out anyway.

I too have a Pixel 2XL but had a much easier upgrade experience. I downloaded the latest version of Magisk files (3 files: MagiskManager-v5.9.1.apk, Magisk-uninstaller-20180901, and Magisk-v17.1 from here https://www.xda-developers.com/magisk-v17-1-android-pie-a-b-support/) and put them on my phone.
Rebooted into recovery TWRP run the Magisk-uninstaller-2018090 file, then ran Magisk-v17.1 rebooted and all worked (thanks to ALL the developers out there!!!)
I'm running rooted Pie (standard google Pie) with Rootchecker, 4.4.153-FlashKernal-Wahoo-v3.06, Greenify, AdAway, and of course Magisk 17.1.

OK...im a relative newbie here...first post actually....but Im a bit stuck in a fastboot boot loop
LG G5 tmobile running fulmics
I decided to try this exact process to get my root back by updating Magisk
booted into TWRP through ADB
flashed uninstaller using TWRP
(cleared cache/dalvik)
flashed v 17.1 (not 17) using TWRP
(cleared cache/dalvik)
rebooted
now i'm stuck in fastboot bootloop….can reboot from fastboot but nothing else
any advice would be appreciated!
update: I am able to get to TWRP using reboot command and holding power and volume down. flashed uninstaller wiped cache/dalvik...rebooted into TWRP long way and then installed 17....still fastboot at startup again

Hello everybody.
I've read that 18.1 supports 4.2+ so I've tried to install in two MTK6589T devices I've. One running 4.2, the other running 4.4
CMW/TWRP gave an error mounting system, so I mounted system manually and it started flashing. Firstly it detected old root installed and disabled the old root. But when it tried to find the boot, installation was aborted because installator claims cannot find the boot on both phones.
Then I though, okay, lets reboot back to android, I will try to install a few days later, maybe its buggy now, but both phones cannot boot.
I can easily fix them by flashing rom again I guess, but I would like to know where's the issue and also post it for more people could face the same problem.
Any idea where's the problem/how to fix without rom reflashing? I've tried magisk uninstaller but after mounting system in recovery it is also giving error.

UPDATE: For now, if no other solution is found, bootloop can be bypassed by dirty installing the rom again. But it has to be an easier workaround...
We know now that the problem is caused because of two factors merging:
1- Using Magisk.zip installer through custom recovery
2-In the case that the custom recovery CMW/TWRP installed in the phone is very old (for instance, CMW automade for MTK6589X or TWRP 2.5.0).
While installing, Magisk tries to send commands to the custom recovery that cant be understood by it, leaving the installation incomplete after some modifications in /system (read below recovery log).
Acording to the recovery, it seems that Magisk did some modifications without running correctly survival script - Adding addon.d survival script ("Unrecognized option '-Xnodex2oat'") and .zip installer is not designed to revert actions in this case.
Also, Magisk couldn't reach the boot modification step, so boot is not damaged, therefore workarounds for restoring boot won't work.
Using Magisk Unistaller.zip is also not possible as the uninstaller is mainly designed for boot backup restoration, and again, this is not the case.
Currently needed: Find what's wrong in system due to the incomplete Magisk installation to revert it back to the original state (before faulty magisk.zip installation).

Update: Bootloop fixed. I used TWRP to restore boot image. I then update Magisk by flashing zip file from TWRP. Everything went back to normal. Hope this help.

If you have a backup of your boot image, you can just restore it using TWRP. But in case that you have no backup of boot image, you can try to get boot image from the internet and restoring using it. In my case, this is what I did.
1. Go to TWRP and then make backup of boot image of the faulty phone*. (Folder 1)
2. I used another J2 prime to create a boot image backup. (Folder 2)
3. Once that is done, copy and replace the files inside the Folder 2 into Folder 1.
4. Reboot to TWRP again then use that to restore the boot image on my stuck J2.
Tips: make backup in SD card so you can easily swap it in between the bad and good phone.
*This is to create a folder of the backup file. I did tried to directly copy and paste the backup boot image file from another good phone but TWRP didn't detect it. So this is the workaround that I come with. And it worked for me.
Thanks for your answer but I doubt your case is mine. Your device is much newer than mine and according to your comment, you've sucesfully installed previous version of Magisk without issues. This is not a problem while updating, as Magisk v. earlier than 18.1 was not compatible with android 4.2+. I think Magisk is not compatible with MT6589T even if they run 4.2 or 4.4.
I think that it cannot be a boot problem as TWRP/CWM displayed msg 'Boot cannot be found' while installing Magisk, so that I don't think boot was replaced or modified in any ways. Moreover, the bootloop is not in the boot loading, as phone can pass boot image without any problem, but it is stuck in android loading image. I'm thinking in some script or root modification that Magisk did before trying to unpack the boot, however I'm not that deep into the Magisk install to find the proper workaround.
I can restore boot backup and also I can take boot file from the original rom and flash, because in Mediatek-based devices, boot.img is inside de zip, but I dont think it will solve the problem. Anyhow I'll get back ASAP with the answer.
Any more ideas??
Nothing, boot/uboot restoration or flashing again just the boot won't fix the problem, so it's something that Magisk installator touch in /system or /data I guess, but what?

@trol_sg I'm gonna guess it's got to do with the absolutely ancient TWRP you're using. It just can't handle everything that the Magisk installation script is trying to do...

Thank you so much for your answer. So it's the recovery, but can't find newer ones, sadly. Too old phones I know, but just curious if I could make Magisk working on them, lol.
I was going into the boot modification manually right now, but in order to patch the boot I need manager installed first, and phone couldn't boot so I did dirty flash of the rom to be able to boot into it again.
Lets see what happens then. I'll be right back.
Anyhow, this is not a solution to fix the problem of bootloop that I am requesting help in case someone could face the same and did not make a backup of the phone and didn't want to make dirty re-flash. Any idea?
Update: After I did dirty flash of the rom, and now Jiayu g3s android 4.4 booted.
UPDATE: So, after patching manually boot and installing (using restore in TWRP 2.5 as image flash is not yet implemented AFAIK), phone booted and yes Magisk is working.
Magisk installation .zip through a very old recovery is making the bootloop. So that, a thing learnt now.
But, for other people facing this bootloop, can we do a research to find what magisk.zip did to the phones to leave them in bootloop? Maybe we can revert without rom flashing easily if we knew what's the issue...

Doing a bit more tests I found that magisk.zip did something in /system so that it is left in bootloop, but still no idea why/whats causing that...
There are delay complete boot like 4 5 second in j7 prime. I didn't love this version

This method won't work in my case as in the step:
- installed magisk uninstall = gives error
Note 5 is much newer phone with a recent recovery TWRP that allows all Magisk.zips commands, but unluckyly not this case.
Also, this method is for wrong boot installation/damaged boot. In my case what Magisk damage is /system, not boot.
I wish it could be boot, because that is very easy to fix (flashing through fastboot/SP Flash tools in the case of MTK, recovering boot twrp "backup" even if you didn't make backup...) as you mentioned.
Hope someone have a great idea to revert system to origin, then we could post the solution for those who would like to install Magisk in 4.2+ old phones, and instead of doing boot flash manually, they try to flash magisk.zip and they got bootloop.

The only part of the Magisk installation that actually touches /system is if it installs the addon.d survival script. The log you posted earlier shows that it's trying to do this, for some reason, and failiing. I'd start looking there...
I've been waited for Magisk v21 released by John Wu this morning, but I ran into some problems
What I've done
- download stock image file from Google official site
- follow the instruction given by John Wu at GitHub wiki
- run command

- when i flash the patched boot.img file, it stuck on the *G logo* with progress bar under it.
- After a certain period of time, it comes back to bootloader with a prompt saying: "no valid slot to boot".
What i've tried:
- redo all processes, no working
- switch active slot to both a & b, none working
- re-patch the stock boot.img file use different Magisk Manager version. The ones i tried: v8.0.0-Beta(offers Magisk v21), v8.0.0-Stable(offers Magisk v20.4), Canary version (offers Magisk Canary who claims to support android 11)
- change the command

So far, what we've seen that is causing issues with Android 11 and Magisk is usually either having incompatible modules installed (the brand new Safe Mode should take care of that, see the FAQ for details), or having TWRP installed to your device (it'll cause a conflict and the device won't boot, install the stock recovery and only use TWRP booted).
I forgot to mention that I didn't install or use a custom recovery, such as TWRP. Using the stock recovery.

Sorry but i don't think Pixel 3 have Teamwin (TWRP) support of android 11?

Just tried boot into TWRP img, failed. It just says:
Code:
FAILED (remote: 'Error verifying the received boot.img: Invalid Parameter')
Googled it & find out TWRP's a deprecated/no longer recommended way to install Magisk. And according to John Wu's installation instruction, it is no longer supported in modern models.
Due to this reason, we no longer recommend installing Magisk through custom recoveries on modern devices.

Just find out Pixel 3 (blueline) has **NO** official support of TWRP v3.4+, but Pixel 3 XL (crosshatch) has it. How ironic.
and I wonder if TWRP v3.4+ support android 11?

Hmmm, disappointing
Ive literally tried the image patch method once, a lot of faffing about, I always use the TWRP method, easy peasy at least for older device
....we no longer recommend installing Magisk through custom recoveries on modern devices. The custom recovery installation method exists mostly for legacy support.
Download the Magisk installer zip
Reboot to custom recovery
Flash the zip and reboot
Check whether Magisk Manager is installed. If it isn’t installed automatically, manually install the APK.

In my case the kernel was loaded and started and Android startup was hanging.
I guess we have to wait until this is fixed.

Which version of Android?
Do you have TWRP installed?
If you do people have been posting that going to Advanced, then tapping Fix Bootloop may work
Otherwise find the boot image of the ROM you have installed, and flash that to the device
If youre on Android 11 on the Pixel, as i found out myself via bootloop, do NOT install TWRP, just fastboot to it to flash zips

I used this command (and tried to boot in slot a), the patched img still won't boot.
Did you managed to flash Magisk with patched boot file?
Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy A6+ with latest fw installed.

The phone is totally useless after the update to android 10, it takes AGES to perform any action, even open the Camera or open a Message.
Already tried to wipe everything, hard reset, reinstall fw. Still useless.
Since I’d like to downgrade to Android 9 to have back a useful phone, I tried to install the latest Android 9 fw with Odin.

But it fails, saying SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot] Fused 7 > Binary 5
What can I do?
Is there any chance to downgrade this phone?

Almost done, but I can't find any custom rom available for download. Can someone help? Since wwith twrp I cannot install a stock rom. Thanks in advance.
I managed to flash a so called Ari's rom, but I think the phone is now bricked. It is on bootloop on the first screen of Samsung (with phone name and so on) and with SET WARRANTY BIT : KERNEL at top left. I think it is time to trash it or does someone have any hint? Thanks

I proposed three different options: custom rom, GSI (generic system image) or conversion stock firmware to flashable form. If there's no good custom rom for A6+, then don't worry - you can still try another options. Try playing with Generic System Images:
1. Flash your current stock firmware as usual in Odin.
2. Unlock bootloader and flash TWRP.
3. Go to TWRP.
4. Wipe partitions cache, dalvik, data, system (don't wipe vendor partition - it's needed).
5. Flash GSI image (recommended will be at first phhusson's AOSP (Android 9 or 10)) as "system image". You always need to choose and download "arm32_binder64" variant of img file.
6. Reboot to your new system.
Second option is to convert stock Android 9 firmware into flashable form.
1. Download ClassyKitchen tool.
2. Import downloaded Android 9 stock firmware (for your phone) into it and save it as flashable zip.
3. Go to TWRP.
4. Wipe cache, dalvik, data, system and vendor.
5. Flash your previously done zip with Android 9 as any other flashable zip in TWRP.
6. Flash Magisk or RMM-state-bypass-v3 in TWRP to prevent your bootloader from getting locked again.
7. Reboot.
I went for the second option, in Classykitchen I loaded the stock android 9 rom and selected
BUILD ZIP ROM (for recovery).
Then installed with TWRP following your wipe indications.
Success.
But when I went to install RMM-state-bypass-v3 I got the error impossile to mount /system.
So I rebooted twrp and before anything I manually mounted SYSTEM in twrp in the dedicated MOUNT menu, and I did everything again from wipe to install.
Is this procedure correct?

Yes, it's correct. If RMM bypass or Magisk.zip was flashed without any errors in TWRP then everything is okay. Just reboot to system in TWRP after that - there is option to reboot directly to system. First boot always can take a bit longer than next boots.

You always need to get any "arm32_binder64" (always AB) image. Gapps or vanilla is just your choice. Just get Android 9 or 10 image and flash it as "system image" (but wipe at first partitions specified in my previous post - don't wipe only Vendor partition, because it contains important things). Android 12 GSI still aren't stable. Android 11 - maybe will work properly. Android 9 and 10 should work fine. There is even short article about GSI on Galaxy A6+ with some fixes for that device attached:

But something weird happens: I install the ROM with success. If then I try to install Magisk (or Rmm) it fails with error 7.
And twrp says No Os installed if I reboot.
But if I try to install Magisk after rebooting into twrp after installing the ROM it goes without errors.
But anyway I have the issues of No Os installed.

You need to reboot to recovery after flashing new system, because just after flashing TWRP doesn't recognize it - that is why you see that "no OS installed". Just reboot your phone to recovery again (you have such option in TWRP). In case of GSI (except maybe CAOS, LineageOS Q/R mod) Magisk or RMM bypass is not needed.
Btw, in case of any problems with hardware support on GSI flash also that patch in TWRP (it may be needed to mount "Vendor" partition in TWRP before flashing that fixes):

I already rebooted to recovery and twrp keeps saying NO OS.
I'm using twrp 3.5.2_10-0.
I'm starting to suspect that this behaviour is due to the fact that this version of twrp could be too much new and unstable for my phone.
So I'd like to install an older version of twrp with Odin, as explained here:

But I cannot manage to go into download mode again, even from REBOOT menu of twrp it doesn't work, I keep staying in the loop explained before.

Installed latest stock and then twrp 3.5.0-1.

The flash is very fast, but no errors, is it normal?

it goes but just at the end it gives the error

I'm losing all hope...

If you flashed it as "System Image" and it was successful then yes - should be fine. DM-Verity isn't needed for GSI - only RMM bypass v3 is sometimes needed (on CAOS, Lineage Q/R mod and maybe in case of some other images). On usual A600FN RMM bypass is not needed on phhusson AOSP. Just format "Data" partition (format, not only wipe) - it will remove encryption for you.
Procedure of flashing should be like that:
1. Wipe: cache, dalvik, data, system ("Vendor" partition leave untouched, because it's important for GSI - that is why you needed to flash stock firmware at first, because it adds vendor files for your phone, but it's needed only once, just don't wipe "Vendor").
2. Flash your GSI as "System Image".
3. Reboot phone (to recovery again).
4. Mount your "data", "vendor" and "system" partition.
5. Flash your zips: RMM bypass v3 (optionally Magisk).
5. Reboot to your new system now.
In case of any hardware support problems, reboot to TWRP again, mount "Vendor" partition and flash that fixes:

Try to boot Android 10 or Android 9 images. If it will succeed, then you can try flashing Android 11 images and check what works, and what not. According to that article

When I proceed with RMM bypass V3 I see the errors in the attached image. It seems like there is a problem in writing to /system.
Can this be related to the hardware support problems you mentioned?
I tried with different versions of Twrp already and with Havoc Os too.
Should I try with flashing a different ROM ?

Just look at filename of system images. But as I see, it's apparently important on Android 11 and newer. For now, try to boot Android 10 or 9. Let's try with that image:

Yes, because you need to mount that partitions in TWRP:
Mount -> tick "system", "vendor" and "data" - and now flash whatever you want.
The only "receipt" which isn't giving installation errors is following your last instructions but avoiding to reboot to recovery after ROM flash (used Vanilla), and using Magisk v22 with unticked the line called "skip digest check" . See attached images.
Anyway, still no success to get into android.
Also tried fixes.zip.
Maybe I have to try with sideload ?

The phone goes into loop with the attached screen and black screen alternatively.
On the top you can see SET WARRANTY BIT: KERNEL, it should be normal right?

I've never had such problem, but according to that thread it seems that it's a fault of modified kernel (so don't flash Magisk with GSI, because it patches kernel).
Try to flash stock firmware, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, format "data" partition, wipe partitions (cache, dalvik, system, data) and flash GSI image as "system image". And reboot to system.
Don't flash RMM and Magisk for now - and check if system will run properly.
