Thank you
I recommend lineageOS recovery. Twrp 3.3.1-0 didn't work with my S4 active
Fails to install on galaxy s4 i9505

Boot animation gets stuck and reboots, or shows pink screen on i9515
First at all, THANKS for your work and time.
For me it had been impossible to flash the last firmware.
I tried a clean install and also a dirty one only to test...
I used the last TWRP for S4 (I9505).
I finally restored the backup I've done before.

also from my side a BIG THANKS to the dev's and all the others !
for those who fight with installation:
I did it on an 9505 via sideload command following this instruction
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/jfltexx/install
see "Installing LineageOS from recovery"
and under JDCTeam Recovery from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...jdcteam-optimized-lineageos17-0-v1-0-t4020687
see "TWRP"
I guess it should do with the recommanded official recovery too (alas it lacks a backup function):
https://download.lineageos.org/jfltexx
P.S.
ping @npjohnson
your link to your "personal builds" is (currently) dead
Today's build won't allow gapps to be flashed due to an issue on the signing server, tomorrows will work fine.
try to instal on i9515 but gets stuck on boot or gets pinkscreen. But stil thanks for keeping de device alive cheers

Do you know if is it possible to flash LOS recovery through Odin-3.14.4 or lower?
I'm not very habituated to use ADB commands [emoji28]

I answer myself... it's not possible because Odin needs "recovery.img.tar" to flash correctly.
So waiting to a build that works with TWRP

If would have followed the links I provided you would have learned that you might install the JDCTeam Recovery through your current TWRP recovery.
JDCTeam Recovery is just a patched version of TWRP (to my understanding patched regarding settings), see:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...p/jdcteam-twrp-3-3-0-0-custom-builds-t3925619
=>
cit.:
"...
How to install:
From your recovery -> Install -> install image -> select the .img -> Press home -> Reboot -> Recovery
..."
in JDCTeam Recovery you'll find the button "Advanced" and there "ADB Sideload"
I guess this is also present in the TWRP recovery.
- I couldn't prove it, cause I'm on JDC -
If you are there, "adb sideload <our-shiny-new-17.1-ROM-here>" or the heimdall commands aren't that rocket science ...
P.S.
the JDCTeam Recovery download link leads to a *.tar file and that contains a "recovery.img" !

Hi @rw_on_xda I'm agree with your comments... I didn't followed the links because I downloaded directly from Lineage web. Also I always had the habit to use the TWRP process since LOS14 (on my Galaxy S4 and S5).
This evening after work I'll flash the recovery image then the rest.
Thanks again for your work.

Tried also with JDCTeam Recovery...same error [emoji45].
Enviado desde mi SM-G9730 mediante Tapatalk
For i9505 there is missing version 17 to download from official site download.lineageos.org/jfltexx
Each others version from post #1 got nighty version 17 what happens ? I9505 is so popular but without build of v17, strange. Got other build from other topic: JDCTeam got some optimized lineageOS17.1 v.3.0 ( android 10 )

I solved this with lineageOS recovery
I had finally flashed succesfully the rom but....
Since the previous post (same error with JDCTeam Recovery), I flashed again the LOS Recovery and flashed again the firm. With this recovery I succesfully flashed the firm but NOT the OpenGapps "nano", having a new error.
Ok...then I flashed again JDCTeam recovery and again LOS17 firm + OpenGapps succesfully.
I restarted (very fast...) and the start up has been correct. The only issue is that I don't have or see the Play Store or google aplication inside my phone...strange.
Thanks again

Q&A
-Why i don't have signal when i convert to GPE?
Well this is a know issue to fix it flash your stock fsg, don't know how? don't worry.. copy your stock fsg and put it in the tool folder, then press shift+right click and select open window promp here and paste the next code one by one:
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot reboot
-I have done the previous steep and continue without signal!!
well, please go to this thread and flash your respective radio via recovery Flash radio using recovery
-Why i can't boot to recovery?
Remember in fastboot mode VolUp SELECT and VolDown SCROLL
-Why i can't install an apk using your tool?
Well, be sure that the apk name don't have spaces, and check if the path of your apk have spaces too... i suggest that: rename your apk (simpler name) EX. xxxxxx.apk (where xxxxx are the name) and move your apk to the desktop, then try again..
-How can i say thank you?
Just press the THANKS BUTTON
Very very cool man!
Will F2F file system of the stock Rom be changed to the GPE EXT4? I've heard that the GPE ext4 implimentation is inferior?
Nice work!
Would be cool if you can automate the root process within your tool.

Same question, but probably yes.
Another: can you will add an option about radio to choice which of them to use? Example my moto g has en.eu version so it will be good if i will to have an option to choice directly from your tool that radio and so on..
Thanks
I have some questions:
What is the right sequence to use this tool?
- unlock
- flash recovery
- root
- install the rom
Would this work?
Is it possible to unroot and lock the device again in order to be able to use future OTA updates from Google?
Thank you for your feedback.

You need unlock your bootloader first to use this tool,
Install the ROM
Install custom recovery
Push supersu
Boot into recovery and flash super su
If you want relock and unroot you need flash an stock image (4.4.2)... Why? Because this Images are unsigned and can't relock your boot loader
For the ota question,we dont now in this moment,we have all the necessary files to have ota, we need an ota upgrade and see if we can Install it direct from our device (we need stock recovery for this, I will add it)

Ok, cool.
Girlfriend always first!!!
Here is what I did:
I unlocked my Moto G
I flashed "Outside USA" image
I flashed CWM Recovery Error Message: mismatched partition size (recovery)
pushed SuperSu 2 SD
tried to reboot into recovery, but the Moto G rebootet normally and started the setup routine, what worked. But Moto G is not rooted.
What is my error? What did I wrong?
BTW: I have a German retail XT1032 8GB
Any ideas?

That error happens to some users sometimes but cwm should work well. You must ask in cwm thread for better support about this particular problem.

HOW TO INSTALL TWRP
http://en.miui.com/thread-282773-1-1.html
HOW TO INSTALL (USING ALKA TWRP)
First Install:
After unlock your bootloader, like another custom ROM, copy Full ROM to Internal Storage, boot on TWRP, DO A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE, wipe System, Data and Caches, flash ROM, reboot, wait a moment and voila!
Upgrade from PREVIOUS PORTED VERSION:
After unlock your bootloader, like another custom ROM, copy Full ROM to Internal Storage, boot on TWRP, DO A FULL BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE, flash ROM without wipes, reboot, wait a moment and voila!
Upgrade from 6.7.x 5.1.1 LOLLIPOP OR LATER:
IMPORTANT: WHEN YOU FLASH THE ROM OVER LOLLIPOP, YOUR BOOTLOADER WILL BE RELOCKED!!! YOU WILL NEED UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER AGAIN AFTER FLASH THIS ROM WITH MIFLASHUNLOCK TOOL! IF YOU FLASHED IT OVER LOLLIPOP AND ARE GETTING FC'S, TRY TO DO A CLEAN INSTALL!
IF YOU GET LOCALE RESET TO CHINA AFTER REBOOT ISSUE, YOU CAN FIX THIS ERASING "cust_variant" in "/cust" PARTITION! TO DO IT, BOOT IN ALKA TWRP, GO TO MOUNT, MOUNT "cust", BACK, GO TO ADVANCED > FILE MANAGER, NAVIGATE INTO "/cust" AND DELETE "cust_variant" THEN REBOOT!
FOR FIRST TIME ON ROM, CLEAN INSTALL IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! IF YOU ARE ON PREVIOUS PORTED ROM, YOU CAN FLASH 6.8.25 OVER PREVIOUS VERSION WITHOUT WIPES! I TESTED IT HERE ON MY CURRENT INSTALL AND WORKS GREAT!!!
After install and use it, please, share your experience here! =D

NX MIUI Marshmallow Based Kernel for RN3Pro: http://corte.us/469274
The kernel has most of good features from RN3Pro custom kernels. Use Kernel Adiutor to customize features! Like in Lollipop, you will lose Reading mode and Colors & contrast settings if you flash the custom Kernel because Xiaomi don't released this part of code. If you want to back to Stock Kernel, don't try to flash only boot.img. Flash entire ROM again without wipes! Don't try to play with firmware-update folder files or you can get a hardbrick!

This is the best ROM I have ever used!
I am also using it on my LG G3
hope there will be regular updates
Agree it's working great
I was not able to flash Super User or get it to work from the playstore. However I noticed it has root manager built into the settings so there's no need to.
Also had issues with youtube not signing in. downloaded it from yalp store and it worked.
bluetooth not working.
Edit (update):
I found the volume was low so using GOODEV volume booster app and it works great, I set it to 11% and it's more than enough for me, going above 15% might be bad for the speakers.
Kernel Auduitor runs on boot, low memory killer set to aggressive.
May want to try root booster.
Also using hermit
Thought Id share my setup:
Using asus zen launcher and the zen keyboard too (can download apk via web)
Also installed yellow booster.
Overall super happy with result

Thanks transi for keeping our JEMs on the bleeding edge!
I tried to install this last one (20170827, clean install together with OpenGapps pico), but I can't get past the first time assistant (whatever I choose it seems to crash and immediately goes back to the first page with country / language selection).
Does anybody else have this problem? Is there a particular procedure to make it work? Or should I dirty flash over a previous one?

Yes, i had the same issue. I made a full format, then flash the ROM. Reboot and flash the gapps (two steps)
Enviado desde mi Amazon Jem mediante Tapatalk
Thanks for the hint: I tried that (two steps with reboot in between) but I still get the same error.
Strange that it is the first time wizard that seems to crash (everything else looks OK, at least at this early stage).
You would think it is not a critical step, but somehow it seems impossible to work around this showstopper...
Thanks anyway, I hope I'll have better luck next time.

Hello
If you press restart, you can go into recovery mode. Try to make the wipes or full format, then flash again
Enviado desde mi MI 5 mediante Tapatalk
Hi eku,
Thanks a lot for your advice and support. I went to wipe => advanced wipe and selected everything but internal storage.
From the messages in TWRP, I understand that the partitions are actually formatted and not simply wiped (I see calls to make_ext4fs running...).
Unfortunately, I cannot do the full format on my JEM because my USB plug is non-functional (it only charges the battery but the PC data connection is highly unstable: I guess the connector socket got slightly unsoldered over time).
So I have to store the ROM images in some place of the tablet that does not get wiped in the process...
*EDIT* ... and of course, in addition to the ROM images, I also need to store the TWRP backup in case of failure (like in this case) in order to revert to the previous working state.
I always thought it was OK to keep the internal storage untouched while flashing new ROMs.
Actually I have flashed many ROMs over the years and never wiped internal storage: I still have my original internal storage from early 2013.
This problem with the setup wizard is very strange: I hope it will be fixed in a future release and I will be able to install it without formatting everything.
Understand. Could do try flash with the first 3.7 version? I had the issue when I tried to update the lastest 3.7 version (28 Aug). Dev your support will be appreciated.

I have just tried this: no luck with 20170816 either, same problem.
Will keep trying with other ROMs when I have time.
*UPDATE* It works with Lineage 14.1 20170718 from the other thread (no problem with first time wizard).
So far everything I tried seems to work flawlessly (and nicely responsive) but I haven't given it serious testing yet.
For the record (in case that matters):
* my unsuccessful attempts with crDroid ROMs were with both OpenGapps 7.1 ARM pico_20170825 and nano_20170901
* I used the nano_20170901 to install with the LineageOS ROM
* my previous ROM was Resurrection Remix 5.8.0 20170112
Thanks a lot (again) to the dev and to transi for bringing this to us.
It is quite amazing to run such recent Android on an old device like this.
Hello, any method to hide the root? Seems a native root method, and some apps I tryed to use failed ( I will suppose are based on SuperSU). Thanks

Old thread: https://forum.xda-deveopers.com/mi-a1/development/wip-miui-9-mi-a1-t3788854
After long time, I manage to port MIUI for Mi A1 for dayly use.
I used xiaomi.eu for port and added some customization from Epic Rom
If you want to stay up to date from Epic roms, join telegram group: https://t.me/epic_roms
What works?
All I have tested
What doesn't ?
-On a small amount of devices, touchscreen is not working properly (touchscreen driver issue)--> fixed on test version
-Reading mode does not turn off if selected. You should reboot or manually move lower slider to left.
-Some apps does not illuminate notification led such as missed call and others. This is a beta base bug, not due to port.
-If you are not familiar with MIUI, do some research before posting a bug, the thread is plenty of reported bugs that are miui settings related.

Hey, great job on this, haven't tested it myself but we all appreciate your work on this!
Is there a possibility for a "cleaner" variant of this? (a version without the mods mentioned in the OP)
Personally I'd give that a try and I'm sure more people would want that as well.
Once again, thanks for working on this!
Cleaner?
Xiaomi.eu is a debloat miui custom and others are a "desired" features.

Couple of questions:
1. Do I have to remove treble support?
2. Do I have to fastboot flash Mi A1 img if I want to go back, if yes provide please. If not is it required to revert to complete stock after this.
3. Do traditional kernels work in this port?

Damn what a great job here, we finally have MIUI option on this phone.
It would be just amazing if we would have a fully functional 8.1.0 port of miui 10 for this device anyhow many great tanks to the dev for this one:good: maybe in the future we will have just that amazing once again keep it up!
It shows I have 6gb of free storage out of 16gb?
I have 32gigabytes of internal storage, is this some kind of bug or what?
