Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to disable the Samsung lockscreen? I just upgraded to JM2 and the new Samsung lockscreen is actually quite annoying.
I'm thinking of using Widget Locker as my new lockscreen but sometimes you still get "flashes" of the Samsung lockscreen in the background (and other times the Samsung one just completely overrides the default lockscreen).
It would be nice to be able to disable it altogether.
No Lock
http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.jraf.android.nolock
Yeah for older firmwares i could unlock the phone by swiping about halfway through the screen but with jm2 i have to like like 3/4+ for it to unlock, much more inconvenient
I found the name GlassLockScreen in Logcat. And now im workin on removing it...
And its not in /system/app
I would love to be able to use the standard Eclair lock screen
Looks like this is an overwrite. Cuzz there is no VanillaLockScreen apk of any kind on the ROM...
P.S. Im working on a costum ROM, and i will enable VanillaLockScreen.
Sigh...just flashed the phone twice over the last two day. Would be good if we can enable the default lockscreen without reflashing?
The device is rooted so replacing system files will not be an issue...
Working on it. Dont have much time, but ill try unpack the rom today and check if this could be done. Not sure cuzz oz the notifications and alarm on the lockscreen..
Anything new?
If you already found sth, pls post it, then i can search too..
Want to kill this damn lockscreen..
The png' for the lock-screen is located in framework-res/res/drawable-hdpi
The latest version is way worse than the stock. Lets hope there is away to enable stock android lock-screen.
I dont have such a path/folder...

that's in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/*.png
Ty
So currently i am downloading the I9000 sources, to look where/when the pngs are loaded..
Ok, so this is what i found out..
I downloaded the opensource sw from samsung but i didnt find where the unlock pictures are loaded (used grep to search threw files).
Then i started adb logcat and this are the outputs when you enable the lockscreen:
D/GlassLockScreen( 2253): GlassLock onPause
.....
D/GlassLockScreen( 2253): GlassLock onResume

And i thought the id, is the pid and this pid is currently this
2253 1000 322m S system_server
Click to collapse
I dont think it would be a good idea to kill this process
So i guess the /system/bin/system_server
and /system/lib/libsystem_server.so have sth todo with it..
Either it starts the a process for the lockscreen or it has the lockscreen in it..
Because in the libsystem is this
system_init.startsurfaceflinger
System server: starting Android services.
com/android/server/SystemServer init2 System server: entering thread pool.
Click to collapse
Maybe it is just a starting service..
Any updates on this?
I really liked the vanilla lockscreen with option to set volume to off but more importantly the vanilla contains things like alarm time and minutes left to alarm.
Anyone with any info?
Regards
/Fredrik
I use a pattern unlock for this very reason
Is it possible just to revert the glass screen unlock behaviour back to june time firmwares? where you only had to drag over half the screen? I'd be happy with that! (altho a fully functioning vanilla lockscreen would be cool too!)
If you want to completely disable the lockscreen without any apps for it.
Phone -> *#*#7594#*#* -> Check shutdown.
No more lockscreen for you. Oh and when u restart, there will be no PIN prompt as well untill you uncheck Shutdown, and then lock , wait 3 seconds, unlock, enter PIN, go back, Enable shutdown again.
i want to get rid of the lock also, although i am using nolock at the moment

This disable the shutdown screen. But I guess that will not help me if I want the vanilla screen? Even if I install an apk (if there is one) It will be disabled to?

Hello,
I'm on 5.0.2 Sony stock FW, rooted. I'd like to be able to add custom widgets to my lock screen (Power Toggles) and to be able to enter my pattern without having to swipe up first. (The dot grid only becomes visible after swiping up from the bottom of the lock screen.)
So basically, I'd like the lock screen to immediatly show a widget and the grid. Notifications are not necessary.
It used to be simple to customize lock the screen... Does anyone know how to get this done?
Thanks!

Well, it looks like you're right. I have even tried several apps. (CM Lock, SnapLock, AcDisplay, Keypad Lock) While some offer better customizability, none show the dot grid without swiping.
I'm starting to miss KitKat already. Who could have possibly thought of this as a good idea?

Lollipop does not support lock screen widgets like KitKat did. I use Power Toggles too and now use the notification feature to show toggles on the lock screen. The reason you have to swipe up is to get past the notifications so you can unlock the device.

Scott, I hadn't considered using the notification feature of Power Toggles. That solves one problem. Thanks!
Also I must admit, coming from an Xperia V, the facial recognition works pretty fast in lock screen. (Found under security > smart lock) That means one swipe usually does the trick towards unlocking.
Sony's not off the hook as far as I'm concerned, though. Reducing customization options is never a good thing.
Besides, I don't like some other decisions they've made. Next up: finding a way to get the kill all apps button back
I miss CM already.

EDIT: how do I mark this thread as solved?

Glad the notification approach works for you.
Regarding customizations, if you are referring to the lack of lock screen widgets, that is not a Sony customization. It is a change to Lollipop. My Nexus devices to not have lock screen notifications on Lollipop either.

I wonder why Google decided to disable widgets on the lock screen. Surely they must know Android users love customization Security perhaps.

I found a way around this, for anyone who's interested. This thread links to stock firmware that has a "close all" button. As far as I understand, it is currently the latest version and localization doesn't matter. But I'm no expert, so please head over to that thread for any information and questions.

That does sound simpler Thanks!
Turns out this is a Lollipop issue, too.
Is there any way to disable this, or bypass it with a tasker script or something?
I use android auto mirroring, and want to see my launcher screen.
Now every time i see android auto lockscreen, and have to swipe every time.
If anyone has any way to solve this..
I believe can be done with tasker but i haven't much experience.
If i made it i will post it.
This was really annoying on my S9+. On my S10+, the screen only pops up once. After dismissing it, it doesn't return. Not sure if it's a One UI thing or a Pie update, but I'm not complaining.
The latest update to Android Auto allows you to completely disable the screen lock. You're welcome!

Strange... I could've sworn I didn't see that option yesterday on the same version. But it's there now and it works!
It could be stranger.....
I Have 2 Samsung s7, on is Original the Otter one is with Root.
On the Original one the Option to Switch off is possible, on the rootet one there is no Switcher for this Option........
Trying to solve.
Am I wrong or the option to lock phone while driving is only set to display/not display a black screen with android auto logo?
Here if I switch it on/off it's only thing that it does.
Even not locking my phone I am still greeted with my own Phone's lock screen.
I think that the solution for this is to simply disable your phone option to lock after some minutes or even make it's screen always on within developer options.
Hello,
i have the problem, that one phone from me, does not disappear the "swipe to unlock" screen.
I have deaktivate the Option "Lock phone while driving", but it does not.
I have two phones:
Moto G4 Plus: without android-lockscreen and rooted
Samsung Galaxy S7: with pin-lockscreen and no root
When i deactivate it by the Samsung, no Problem, screen is not showing.
But at the Moto, i have no chance, i have set pin-code lockscreen and hiding root with magisk, no chance.
Have anyone a idea?
Thanks.
Hello, for all that have the same problem:
The Tasker-Function "System lock" not only does the screen off, this funktion set the Android Auto Lockscreen on, even if no display lock is active in the Androidsettings!
Is it possible?
How?
Have the icon on screen but not the count.
I can"t find that option anywhere maybe Samsung removed it...

I've managed to get them to show on lockscreen but I don't think they can be shown on aod at least just yet.
Lockscreen/notifications
It's not just an off/on switch
You can go inside and choose various levels of show/hide details.
Attached is my personal build.prop (extra properties) which I append to the build.prop which comes with our Oneplus 7 Pro releases.
This is an accumulated build.prop over a number of phones (so there might be a few properties which are outdated in the meantime).
In addition, I spent an afternoon looking for the properties which are used in Oneplus, APKs, libraries, binaries, etc.
Do NOT blindly apply this (it disables for example voLTE which is not available on my carrier).
Use it as a reference and take what you need.

Hey! I found this looking for a way to make my lockscreen rotate. Do you have any idea why...
"lockscreen.rot_override=true" (Enable Auto Rotation on Lock Screen) ...and...
"log.tag.launcher_force_rotate=VERBOSE" (Enable Auto Rotation on Home Screen)
...absolutely will NOT work on Oneplus phones? I've tried with the 6T and the 7 Pro, and they just ignore them.
Is there some other way to get my lockscreen to rotate? EVERY other Android device I've had will do it. It's frustrating.
Thanks!

Lockscreen rotation shouldn't be a thing on this device because of the onscreen fingerprint sensor. That being said, if you don't care, you can use EdXposed + Gravitybox to force your lockscreen to rotate.

Thank you! Yeah, I don't like fingerprint unlock, so I'm looking into the combination you've suggested now.
All this to make the stupid Lockscreen rotate. Crazy!
