i tried to install magisk on my device (no rooted) and have no TWRP
i followed the method ( patching the boot.imf of stock rom) then install into my device using sp flash tool
but when i check magisk manager i find that magisk not installed

Hi I this is my first post in xda so pardon me for any mistake.
I am facing some issues while rooting my phone with magisk
I have Micromax q372 unite 3 (2015) running android lollipop v5.0 and I am trying to root with magisk v6.0.
So first I tried to flash magisk zip directly with twrp 3.0.2-0 recovery but it showed an error- unable to unpack boot.img
So I patched boot.img file using magisk manager and then tried flashing it with twrp and my phone went into boot-loop (i was unable to use adb method)
so I renamed patched_boot.img to boot.img and replaced this with an original boot.img file in my firmware and flashed the whole firmware using sp flash tool
and I got into boot-loop again. (I know how to solve boot loop.)
So how to root with magisk now.
- there is no new version of twrp available for my device.
- adb method not working.
- flashing original boot image also not working.
Please help me.
I am using Redmi 4a . Rooted with magisk and recovery is Twrp. It. I don't want to lose root access after update. tried FlashFire but it crashes when I open it .

I'm using miui10 (beta) developper Rom (miui_HM4AGlobal_8.10.25_d36c3e7df5_7.1.zip) and it is true that a big update (mean when it's the entire ROM) replaces twrp and crashes root.
You just have to install again twrp with fastboot method in order to flash SuperSu (the one i use) in order to retrieve root.

Hi, when used to use MIUI i installed pitchblack recovery and after the miui update it didn´t dissapeared so there is no need to always flash the recovery but the magisk fil you have to install again because the update flashs the stock boot img.
Hello, I need help I have successfully installed PixelExperience latest version ... but I can not run the root with magisk ... tried already to flash from twrp but I get out error 1 .... I have to do something first ... a quick guide step by step ... first install apk magisk manager and after zip file magisk ... or do I have to do anything else ???? thank you
Just try the direct install method through the magisk app.

I have a problem installing magisk on my Sony Xperia z3 compact with android stock 6.0.1 in order to root my phone.
Today, for the first time, I unlocked the bootloader and I installed TWRP recovery.
I tried to install the latest version of magisk (v. 18.1) via TWRP, but it shows "Error 1".
I read in the XDA forum that I should flash the boot.img and then I should reinstall magisk.
What I don't understand is where I can find this file "boot.img". I have a stock rom.
Can someone help me?
