LG V40 update - LG V40 Guides, News, & Discussion

Just received update for my LG V40(India). Update size 710 MB. Change log did not have much detail about the update. These are some changes that I found.
- WiFi Calling
- Screen Recorder
- Digital WellBeing
- Status Bar icons : Digital WellBeing : grayscale, focus mode , WiFi Calling
- Security patch : March 2020
One issue : Battery usage graph is not visible.

I think the battery usage chart will appear once you charge your battery to 100% after the update. Any other differences did you noticed?

@sanchit279 Which theme are you using? Is it possible that it's the theme causing issues with the battery graph?

Yes got fixed after charged to 100%.

Thanks, I already have pixel experience dark, but what I meant was, that it might be the theme causing issues with your battery graph. Have you tried setting the default theme, to see if the graph shows?

What I am unable to understand is why the similar update for LG G7 ThinQ is not being made available. Basically, the only difference between V40 and G7 is that the former has OLED screen and three cameras on backside; rest all specifications are exactly same and currently both run on android 9 stock ROM.

Thanks Tech_infinity for your information. I updated my LG G7 ThinQ today and after that the WiFi calling should be available, I am yet to test that.

I would like to know what is the methode to test whether WiFi calling is working or not after installation of the update in LG G7 ThinQ. Lot of people on internet say that put mobile in Aeroplane mode and then switch ON WiFi, WiFi calling should work then. But when I tried this, I got the message that you can not make call with Aeroplane mode ON. So how to test?

So you suggest to wait instead of download the beta?
After the Update the Device is slow, I have to reduce the animation to 0.5x to make it snappy.
The battery is worse now only a day worth now as compared to at least 2 days.
There are no AOD Faces.
The notifications shade is a long list and that 1 notification always stays there to remind you are in beta.
Dark Mode Everywhere makes everything dark even the images in the Apps so I keep it off.

I know what you're talking about. Looks like it's not beta related. I used to have this issue, last beta I flashed over latest stable, and all good now. I think this could be the reason.

Sudden Shutdown.
I have been on Open Beta since Android 10 came and updated regularly. Updated to OB16 on the first day (10-July-2020) and today morning I had used the phone for some time and put aside in my car connected to Bluetooth (no streaming, only for handsfree) like I do normally. After about 20 minutes when I arrived I find that my phone does not wake up. No response at all from any button. Even connecting to the charger did nothing. Then held down all three buttons for few seconds (maybe 10) and it entered into bootloader. From there I rebooted into recovery, cleared cache and rebooted. Phone started fine with battery at 97%. I have had the phone since August 2019 and this is the first time it happened. Just reporting it in case anyone faces the same issue in OB16 to see if it is related.

Hola, Do you have screenshots?
The link is the same as the last one.
https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/andromeda/
Disappointed. I can't choose 5G in the network list. It only has 4G.
(Before anyone points it out, yes, I know 5G is sort of "4G+", but still, on the v10.3.17.0 rom I can choose 5G, and as an official ROM I'd expect them to put that option in there)
It's prettier, but that's about it.
Nice, I just read the news on https://www.notebookcheck.net/MIUI-...e-Mi-Mix-3-5G-ahead-of-schedule.492147.0.html
Nice, I received my update yesterday morning and it's been working pretty smoothly ever since Love the new dark all over look. It's great!
hi i am in italy, i have downloaded it but when i try to install it through MIUI uodate it reply:current ROM network type is different from that in the recovery. please download the correct ROM ??
can anyone help me?
Your carrier customization version is different , probably-PEMEUVF, not 100% sure but you need to unlock your bootloader if you want to install this OTA manually.
got it in UK. updated fine. cant complain. its made my background a little bit darker, but you can disable that in the settings.
When will the update come for PEMEUVF? Do i need to install it manually?
Just to note, My battery does appear to be lasting much longer than previously
When at work my battery would only just last the day before needing a charge but since updating I have over 50% at the end of my shift...

Are you using energy saving or super energy saving?
however, I also noticed a longer battery life.
Really great phone, it's really a shame for not getting Android 10.
No, I don't use any battery saver options ever Full power all the time is the way forward
It is a shame we don't have android 10 from Xiaomi There is still hope for the future though! And there is always other software from this forum.
Has anyone noticed again in V12.0.1.0.PEMEUXM update you do not have 5g mode under "preferred network types"
where as in V10.3.19.0.PEMMIXM you get the 5g option
Update:
So played with the 2 firmwares
V10.3.19.0.PEMMIXM offers 5g and speeds high
V12.0.1.0.PEMEUXM offers 4g+ but speeds are not as fast as 5g.
This is what I have and see in my phone... I can not test 5G speeds out as I am not currently in a 5G area

This is interesting buddy.
I don't even get the 5g option on v12 update and with 4g+ my download speed is 25-30mbps
V10 I test 5g n I get i am getting around 150mbps download speed. see screenshots.
Guys how do u get better battery life with this !!
Compared to EU Rom from xiaomi.eu I can confirm it's almost double the battery life than what I get from miui 12!
Can't complain about battery.
Yesterday: about 4.5hrs SoT, unplugged 9am, back to charger 0230am next morning with 48% left...
Nevermind...

After update to the new FW, I can unlock the phone with my right thumb, but not with the left one. This worked before the update. I tried adding a new fingerprint, but it did not help.

Since I've opted in for A13 beta, I just got 33.0210.0210.100 a few minutes ago.
This is my first device running Android 13, so I don't have too much personal experience about it, but so far so good!

I've applied a few months ago, so I got a notification about a week before that A13 beta will be available soon, so I can upgrade my ZF8 to it.
Everything's fine, but I found a few bugs and/or issues:
- no matter what the brightness setting is, when the phone's screen awakes (with a double tap in my case), for a fraction of a second it's on full brightness, but then goes back to the set value,
- I had an issue with the touchscreen one time, but after a lock-unlock everything went back to normal,
- I had a custom system mode setting, which is now completely missing, only the 4 factory defaults are present (High performance, Dynamic, Durable and Ultra durable); I was able to set lower CPU / RAM speeds, but now these settings are gone,
- there's a power menu besides the settings gear when I pull down the notification bar, which is unnecessary IMO, it's right where the settings was.
Other than that I find it more usable than the A12, and the battery life seems to be a bit better in my case.

What about Monet? Is it integrated?

I'm using a plain black background because of the AMOLED screen (it consumes less power this way), but I'll check it for you.
Does it have a separate menu item in Settings? I haven't found anything related in Display.
Google’s dynamic color engine, codenamed monet, grabs a single source color from the user’s wallpaper and generates 5 tonal palettes that are each comprised of 13 tonal colors of various luminances. These 65 colors make up the R.color attributes that apps can use to dynamically adjust their themes.

Monet is Android's theme engine that changes the color of the UI to match the wallpaper, if nothing changes when you apply a new wallpaper then sadly it might be not implemented with this update too.
