I'll make you a trade, you tell me how to flash GSI images and I will test them on Exynos Note9 and report back for you.
TWRP 3.2.3-0 installed and ready to go, think I've tried just about every standard note9 rom, just never used a GSI image before.
EDIT: Found this guide for another device I was interested in. Would just need you to clarify any differences for CrownLTE.

I don't mind testing as long as you can try including a kernal for Samsung A31 but I can still test but if you can include a kernal I can daily drive your GSI
I'm also interested to test some GSI on my note 9 N9600 (snapdragon unlocked).
Do someone know how to keep some spen features on GSI?
Sorryall, i stopped building for this device. I still have it, but currently working on pixel 7. I could pick it back up if i could get my pixel unlocked...

Is this even possible ?
Running s9 port.
Short answer: No.
It would require a partition change on your Note 8 which would completely wipe your device... I don't believe ANY OEM will do this as there would be too much of a hue and outcry from the regular - non XDA - users who suddenly lost everything in the update that gave them treble.
Also, most people wouldn't know what the heck you're talking about if you mentioned it so it is not to their economic advantage to give us treble on the Note 8.
I know many people who don't update to the latest and greatest simply because they don't know the difference...

The port is completely unrelated afaik to the actual development of aosp. You can always check the development forums, the progress of LOS15.x is slowly progressing.

Not for the Note 8. Post #3 gives a pretty good explanation if you want to read through it.

it would be nice though if they could make it available to people who wants it though, as in you agree to a T&C disclaimer thing before you can download a file package type of arrangement.
Personally I won't bother with it as I am getting a note 9 anyway but it would be a nice thing for developers and people who wont get the 9 and I'm sure loads note 8 owners will not

Like said before, a OTA would wipe everyone's devices (and non-XDA people who may not know what Treble is may be fussy) but as time goes on and people look in, maybe in the future PT could happen for the 8 series.

No, the post is from December 12, 2017.
The writer has hoped, that Treble will be released with the Oreo-Update on Note8.
I now have the new firmware and there is no Treble

Some phones from Huawei got updated to Oreo with support for Project Treble. Doubt that the update wiped their device. https://www.gsmarena.com/here_are_all_the_android_devices_updated_with_treble_support-news-30391.php

Even if it doesn't, I doubt Samsung will OTA and/or a port of it will be hard to make (although the leaked firmware if I read right is Verizon/SD models)

Dude, you don't know. At the very moment, OxygenOS beta adds OnePlus 5 and 5T support to Treble. Also, remember iOS 10.3.1 or 10.3 whatever, adds new filesystem to the OS. And, guess what, OTA update didn't even wiped the device.

Yes but there was an un-formatted partition on the 5 & 5T. This has been used by oneplus now for Treble support...
It had been used by devs to add unofficial Treble support .
Not sure if Samsung have done this...

I mean there's really no such thing as stable when it comes to gsi roms unless there specifically built for the device like the stock roms and official builds of custom roms like lineage and RR. You can technically flash any gsi rom but there is a strong chance of device related issues. some gsi images work better than others. There's fixes for some issues but I myself don't know em because Im not on a gsi image

I'd assume it would be soon because the Moto x4 just got the Pie beta. That phone came out not long before this one.

Not really, most of them won't even boot. I'm hoping 9.0 drops by the new year for our G6.

The x4 has been out for well over a year now. There's quite a gap between it and the g6 series.
Wait around one year or so for the update to 9.0... Motorola/Lenovo has ruined the updates so I have lost the hope in this company ...

All of the arm/A roms including unofficial pixel experience and aosp by phh boot fine. Only problems I've found are no hotspot and Bluetooth and notification ringtones sounding garbled. There is a fix that requires deleting a folder from your vendor for the last two problems
Hi, I have a questions:
At least one developer is working on the device tree? Has someone already tried to port custom firmware? How long to wait for the first custom?
Developers, please mark in the comments(?)!

The developer, Randomblame , is working on it. You can use GSIs in the mean time, ones like phh AOSP, AOSiP, ArrowsOS do support fingerprint.

Kelsi is the only capable person we have right now unfortunately. She is working on kernel rn as you can see in the development section. As soon as her device tree will become close to stable i'll start doing build for 2-3 roms for Mi 9 as well (although I can't be much more than a buildbot).

Still waiting 60 hour to unlock bootloader
I'm about to try final beta (beta 5) today. I've got System.img and vbmeta.img inside zip. Both to be flashed via fastboot? I've downloaded final beta directly from Google Developers site. It will work right?

Perfect, I think that for the first time it's working well.
I think that developer can do a good job with redmi note 7 and his hardware.
I managed to boot official Q GSI, was really really smooth for what it is, but many things didn't work at all, like Bluetooth, couldn't call anybody, I think even data was not working.
Hopefully someone will fix that.
Anyone know if they started developing for Zanfone 8?
I come from a pixel 4 and I miss it.
try finding unofficial version
unfortunately no luck
Try the GSI. I use it in a couple of devices and it works great.

You will most likely have to do some tweaking, from experience using phh's gsi, the clock was behind the camera hole and the headphone port was not working for example
