So I had to reset my phone, then when i went to add my fp i cant. its flashing and says add a fingerprint. i tried factory resetting and it didnt fix
Now I have unable to mount storage and I already tried repairing the data partition..
Edit: Mount problem fixed, fingerprint issue still not working
Edit: After resetting again via stock recovery > format data. FP is working.
It seemed this happened after flashing magisk, weird.

Ah, so you managed to get FP working.
Did you still have your bootloader locked and only flashed Magisk?

Just wondering, how could you flash Magisk with the bootloader locked (hence without TWRP) ?

Here's the whole story:
I was on an unofficial build of RR CM13, encrypted, using TWRP 3.0.2-1.
I wiped data, dalvik, cache, and flashed the newest Official RR 7.1.1 and open-gapps.
I boot into the new ROM and start setting stuff up.
I restore some apps' data using Titanium Backup, then reboot.
On reboot I'm greeted with the device setup screen
I reboot, wipe, reflash a bunch of times
A few times:
When I rebooted after using the system my PIN doesn't decrypt the system/data (booting into the system)
When I rebooted after using TWRP my PIN does decrypt (booting into the system)
At some point during this I try wiping everything from TWRP, but it freezes, goes black, and then the notification LED turns white. I hold the power button and boot back to TWRP.
Apparently wiping /data is the problem (everything else wipes just fine if I do them individually)
I boot back into the system, set it up, and do a full factory reset from there (after offloading my stuff from Internal Storage)
Back to TWRP, now no matter what I flash or restore, I don't end up booting into the system, only into TWRP
I've also tried TWRP 3.0.4-0 (which wouldn't decrypt my data), and I've reflash TWRP a few times.
How do I actually boot into my system? It's been 7 hours, and I'm losing my mind.

Boot to your ROM through the power button...
Manually..

Thanks, that worked, but now when I try to boot into recovery I get a black screen.
I was able to use the Toolkit to boot into TWRP and flash my ROM. Any ideas how to fix this?

TWRP has enormous potential and so does ADB try to use them.
First ensure TWRP is working, If it works you're 80℅ safe , then further do some XDA search as per your need. I am sure it will work again.
This is purely my experience since 6 years I am flashing .

Your TWRP is working right!
go to TWRP/ Advanced/ADB Sideload
type "adb sideload /path/to/rom.zip"
Mate, recommend using ADB Sideload on TWRP itself is the only viable option you have. OR if that doesn't work and you still have the PIN issues, you should definitely use the Unbrick Tool and get everything back to Stock, and then reflash everything
Note: Using the unbrick tool will cause it to relock bootloader, so you're gonna have to start over again.
Cheers!

Tell. Me exactly what u did..
Try : default_password if this doesn't work.. Then m sorry my friend u have to format full data..
Its asking for the encryption password. The default password is "default_password" (without the quotes) try that. And if doesn't work then enter Bootloader (fastboot mode) and enter the following commands into CMD.
Code:
fastboot format userdata
Code:
fastboot format cache
Code:
fastboot reboot
This will unencrypt your phone and you'll be able to boot/enter TWRP normally.
Please do note that you'll lose ALL of your data from the commands.
Also, I'm not sure about this but you also might need to flash TWRP again.

If you have set a pin as security try putting that in.
If you haven't then you can do above mentioned methods.
Finally Solved the problem! Thanks guys! I flashed my previous rom and everything worked. The problem seems to be in the twrp itself.

How is this possible?
Firstly, if u cannot enter into TWRP, then how did you flash the ROM?
Secondly, even if you somehow flashed the ROM how does it do away the password error ?? Did it replace the recovery? Recovery image is not usually included in custom ROMs.

I was running out of options. i thought why don't i flash the last rom that was running on this device. i can't explain how or why. I flashed the twrp again and than the rom. i can't explain but it installed the rom. It worked.
So you froobs can't read the dm-verity warning on TWRP page and just flash the one damn zip that prevents from this.
And the problem is in Kernel and firmware
I had trust in XDA-members. But the faith is gone.

Wait, were you able to get past the twrp password thing without formatting just by flashing the rom? Why did you have to flash twrp again before the rom? Did you do a clean flash or dirty flash? Your internal drive was not wiped?
My problem is basically that I was unable to get into my phone so I deleted the 5 gatekeeper/lockscreen keys from data/system. Now I can only see the wallpaper and a blank screen that doesn't allow me to do anything. It doesn't let me allow me to set a new pin. TWRP is asking me for a password that I never set. I've been trying to figure out how to access my data without formatting, but I'm running out of options too..

Your signature doesn't mention a OnePlus 3 or 3T. But if you're using one of these, then I suggest you try the Blu Spark 8.61 TWRP from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...vice-development/kernel-t3404970/post67463496

Maybe he used SuperSu to root? I dont' see a dm-verity zip for that. You have to use the bluspark TWRP posted above this reply and set your password in the ROM through another app or through the system settings in that case. I had the same problem. Also, I could have used "default_password" but I didn't know that until after I did all the fastboot flashing...
Or do you know of another zip SuperSu users can flash?
The password which its asking for is the one which is our lockscreen password
OxygenOS encryptes our devices with the password we enter on lockscreen so to decrypt just enter the same password

Just wanted to update my EX kernel with the kernel manager app, it reboots to TWRP and than requires password.
I've never set a password to TWRP and my PIN doesn't work. It also happened to my brother's 3T, that's so weird.
I would like to know if there is any solution that doesn't include factory reset or re-flashing TWRP.
Thanks from advanced, Lidor.
Update:
I tried to disable the PIN when you boot up the device. Now TWRP doesn't even work. It just shows the logo...
Guess I will have to re-flash TWRP... Just tell me if I am right.

Try reflash twrp to yr phone.
If you are on oxygen os twrp will take time to load (without pin enabled) as OOS uses f2fs format which is relatively newer format and allegedly considered better than more traditional ext4 format
So if twrp logo shows after booting in recovery then wait for sometime (can take upto 10 min)
Hi All, I have a N950F/DS currently running Stock N950FXXU3CRE5 FW and every time I install twrp and do the "Data mount fix" my phone refuses to boot unless I root it with Magisk or SuperSU. I dont want root but I do want twrp, can someone help with this problem thanks in advance.
What are you trying to achieve with Data mount fix?
try RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2 so oem unlock would not turn off after reboot here

For some reason this didn't work for me. I kept losing OEM unlock anyway. I ended up having to not reboot my phone for a week.
I found a solution. I downloaded two boot imgs without the "dm verity" and my phone booted with twrp. Also it doesn't remove twrp after rebooting

@Displayer
Your data from the last install appears to be encrypted. If you have a backup the easiest way to resolve the issue is to format your storage. You could also use the All in One tool and use its encryption removal option. Please keep in mind that it will wipe out all of your memes, so hopefully those are backed up.

I mean, i formatted to have a custom ROM booting, encrypting my data. I can use the phone, my pin code works in android but it's impossible to decrypt with TWRP...

That doesn't even make sense. Twrp will not decrypt your phone.
Install Miui again, backup your data, to your desktop, by manually dragging your files over.
Go here and download DM-VERITY, FORCED ENCRYPTION, AND DISC QUOTA DISABLER you will use it to flash between updates or for dirty flashing Miui updates.
Next go back to TWRP the choose format and type yes reboot to TWRP ( you will se a message that says you have no OS are you sure?) Yes, reboot to TWRP
TWRP is not your issue, go read
and read the first comment here
Format storage, or wait for the TWRP and you still need to the format storage, Again a TWRP update will not resolve the issue. We have all had this exact issue.
I'm using another workaround:
With the all in one tool, we can flash .zip from a PC.
So I could install a custom kernel file from my pc directly into phone without loosing data.
Annoying thing is that I need the PC... Can't flash files that are in phone memory... Not such a big issue...
Another question, can I make a backup from the PC? Used to do it via twrp, but it is not safe with that issue...
