Hello everyone
Some might know me from the V30... Also got my hands on a V40 now (which I will also give my best to develop for).
I'm currently searching for people who are capable AND willing to test different things.
With that I mean:
- You know how to take logs (logcat, dmesg)
- You know how to recover from a soft brick (either how to get into TWRP for example, or in really bad cases fastboot or flashing a kdz)
- You know how to follow orders
I currently have a (somewhat decendly) working TWRP build (cant decrypt stock encryption atm).
GSIs are a complicated thing, because of not only vbmeta but also because of our 8.1 vendor (Pie GSIs work, if you remove some sepolicies from their system, Oreo GSIs dont have that issue)
What I would need more people to test for:
- stock decryption
- trying out different ways when something (doesnt) boot (e.g. need to flash magisk for xy to not crash to fastboot)
and so on
After everything is somewhat stable (I had to reflash a kdz today, as somehow nothing, no twrp in either slot, or restored stock rom didnt wanna render anything anymore, even though usb/adb worked just fine)
Also working on LOS for this device btw (but thats far more work in progress)
If you wanna be part of this upbringing, reply here, and I'll message you via PM the details.
PS: Having Telegram would be very beneficial.
I volunteer for this. Happy to see you step up for our forgotten device.
How did you reflash the KDZ?
I`m also interested in testing.

In my case i used LG Bridge, at first it complained that MTP wasnt running, but after clicking a few times ok it was fine with that lol
but i read in another thread that a lgup_cmd is able to flash kdzs to the v40
I think I can participate in the test, I have a V405US ROOT phone。
Please forgive me for my bad English. :)
In +1
Hi, how you rooted LG V40?
Any movement on this?

Camera/Fingerprint have issues so far.
Camera tries to load libraries it has no access to (because treble restrictions, so that also shouldnt work on stock, LG did some tricks there again i guess).
Fingerprint loads, log looks normal (same as on stock) just that it stops at one point without error or anything else.
Would use the prebuilt vendor, if it wouldnt have issues with Pie, thats why im building my own currently.
Other than that, havent had much time in the past 1-1.5 weeks.

Any update is a good update. I appreciate all the work your doing. I know it's not easy. Thanks again
I can test out twrp and or ROM! Best regards.
The question probably sounds stupid but after almost a year of just forgetting about using root or unlocking bootlader i forgot many things.
I remember i used to have a mi 9 with encryption on and everytime i open twrp you will need to decrypt the data.
Now with the MI 9T Pro i had to format data in order to boot into Evolution X ROM that of course left me with a decrypted phone and i dont really like it in case my phone gets stole or something.
Do you guys know if i can use the option inside teh ROM to encrypt and what else i wuld need to do?
Thanks in advance to whoever takes the time to respond

If all you did was format data, then encryption is still enabled. As soon as you setup lock-screen security, i.e. PIN, password, pattern, etc., for the first time your phone will automatically be encrypted.

No I couldn't boot until I flashed the DM verity.
So the encryption is now gone, but do you know if I can encrypt and then flash DM verity again with the force encryption on?.

Ordinarily you shouldn't need to flash dm-verity. And as far as I'm aware, there is still no need to.
Normally it's just a case of formatting data to temporarily remove encryption, if flashing over MIUI.
As to your specific question, I couldn't say, as I've never needed to flash a dm-verity, disable force encrypt, or vbmeta file/script.
Personally, I would flash the latest fastboot MIUI ROM for the phone, then reinstall EvoX.
Before installing the ROM, in TWRP do the factory reset and then format data (There is no need to wipe anything else). Then reboot into TWRP to ensure the newly formatted data partition is properly mounted and flash as normal.
This has worked for me every time.
Yeah, some roms aren't booting without dfe.
to remove decrypt you can just wipe vendor and flash it again. you'll get encrypted. (however, some users confirm it puts them back into recovery, and they needed to reflash vendor+dfe for them.) Currently investigating if this is a RIN or RCN problem or for every device.
alternatively. If you are scared about having your device stolen. May I suggest you stay decrypted. Use ofox. and under ofox settings add a recovery password?
In the event you get stolen, they won't be able to access your recovery.
also, I'm looking for someone to test if wiping the data partition and not flashing dfe (after a rom has booted for the first time) and rebooting causes encyrption. (as you desired.) If you're willing to test. Try the above 3 methods?

BS. There is zero 'need' to flash dfe scripts. People are not formatting data when they need to, then when they cannot boot into a newly flashed ROM, they search and find solutions telling them to format data and flash dfe scripts. The thing is, people do not realise that it is the formatting data that fixes the problem, and they believe it is the dfe patch that is the fix. In all these cases formatting data alone would have been enough to fix the problem.
Also Orange Fox is only preferential if you stay with MIUI, as it's extra features are all about working with MIUI. If you are going with an AOSP ROM, stick with mauronofrio's latest TWRP, it is by far the best recovery for this phone.
As far as your 'test' is concerned, twice I have had bootloops after flashing a ROM, that have been fixed by formatting data alone.
The first time was when I first flashed an AOSP based ROM over MIUI before knowing that formatting data was required in this scenario. The second time was flashing AOSiP over LOS, when I still thought that going from one AOSP ROM to another never needed to format data when flashing.

We've had numerous cases for specific devices not booting without dfe despite formatting for some roms. I believe they are aosp roms that face this. Some when using oss, I vaguely remember. or when moving from LOS fod to mi9 fod or which flashing a different kernel.
(Do note. There are over 50+ roms for our device. 6 variants of the phone. 7 vendors (and separate modified vendors). 2 kinds of fod implementations. and about 95% of the cases arent asked on xda. 25% of the roms aren't posted either. None of the experimental builds are provided on xda.
There are tons of combos users use.)
I have not seen you on telegram. Only on xda. Who are you btw?
twrp is great. Ofox has a better ui and more features. Also, mauronofrio doesn't own a k20p btw. Just FYI. But he has the experience to still update twrp.
updated twrp is still not official, and gives error 7 for some raphaelin users who haven't updated updater-script.
recoveries are subjective. I mean, we have like 6 different recoveries now so.

Numerous cases? Who's we? What roms on what devices need dfe then? Only seen 2 roms ask for dfe, everything else it's as easy as 'going to and from miui, format data and reboot recovery' works every single time.

Try this next time you see somebody saying they have tried may things and always get bootloops when trying to flash an AOSP ROM and you want to advise them to flash dfe.
Instead tell them to flash the latest MIUI fastboot ROM for their device, then install TWRP, in TWRP do a factory reset followed by format data, then reboot into TWRP and flash the ROM.
I bet they will come back and tell you it worked.
Again there should be zero need to flash dfe scripts.
If there are any AOSP ROMs out there that genuinely won't boot without flashing dfe (and here I'm talking about all users of such ROM), then the dev had done something stupid and everyone should seriously avoid the ROM.
At least half of the 50+ ROMs are no longer actively maintained.
The vast majority of Orange Fox extra features are specific to MIUI and so are redundant for AOSP ROMs. Mauronifrio's latest TWRP is the most stable for this phone, so if you're going with AOSP ROMs then the extra stability makes most sense.
I've been aware that mauronifrio does not own this phone ever since his initial build. I was also aware back then that he is also an official TWRP maintainer for other devices and so would mostly likely become the maintainer of the official version for this phone, which has now happened. If you go to the official TWRP site and download for this phone, it is by mauronifrio. You can also download the official version from the OP of his TWRP thread.
I would suggest that in most cases, people getting error 7 issues are not on the latest mauronofrio TWRP build.
Are you aware that all these different recoveries are just TWRP with a fancy dress. This is the great thing about TWRP. It was designed to be extensible, to allow others to build on it, in terms of functionality and design. So really there is only TWRP, just many different flavours.
I'm running the CrDroid 5 rom, and I dislike the force encryption, I've tried a force encryption disabler and hacking Magisk to disable force encryption even with encrypted data detected, but it hasn't fixed the issue. (I've found a disabler that works)
I also heard about the hidden 120Hz mode the phone has from here https://www.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-xz-premium-hidden-120hz-screen-mode-razer-phone/
Under the update, it's mentioned that this phone also has it too, and I'm wondering if anyone has been able to enable it, and if it's possible, how

I see its an older post now asdf2345 . But could you share the tool you used to disable the force encryption. I freakin hate it specially because its been "forced" Just replaced my xperia Z5 Compact with a 2nd hand XZ1 Compact after 6 years yes.... LOL Its rooted with magisk and installed twrp latest for xz1c. all works fine but i dont want the "forced encryption" at all . On my windows 10/11 laptops i already disabled these idiot features so the installer not even bother to set it up by default. My old z5c was on android 7 i really liked it, no additional wasted partitions for system ROM images and so forth. I tried many methods, in fact if i haven't reflashed this poor bugger 10x by now.... This was my main reason i longed as much on old system7, i am google less rooted . Forced encryption is messing up a lot of my things just being there.

Very kind thank you. I was searched far n wide on the net. find lots of similar things, however they either wasnt for sony or specified strictly for xxxxx devices LG, ASUS,OPPO etc etc. You still have xz1c G8441? I tried out Havoc-OS 4.8 works really well but i missed sony camera, and my call recorder "ACR Pro" wasnt working properly. Than i had to find out that flashtoop always gives a null error while flashing roms and i had to find again new softwares "newflasher" to do the job. Thanks again will try it out. What i should kow about it? Flash wipe /data/ i assume, I am on TWRP 3.3.1.0
Forgot to mention that my device running on stock kernel with flashed drmfix. Update ... After a bit of messing around it worked. Its not encrypted now. Flashed factory UK stock 228 because it went to bootlooping than twrp 3310, and this time i flashed bliss rom 12.12 android 10 for lilac. Flashed the file you sent me and flashed magist 23. First boot went to recovery. So i assumed , it want a factory reset so i did one. than all fine. Now i just need to go in my bank to unlock my barclays banking app as i installed it about 25x in the last few days. Thank you again for the fast response and help asdf2345. Will se in a few days how this rom fares, but appears to be the best so far, even has sony camera app built in, and i am using it without google or gapp spyware.

Yeah, I hate that because the device is treble, you gotta reinstall the original ROM to flash a new ROM, so you always gotta start fresh and unnecessarily wear out the flash. I currently use the Resurrection Remix Oreo ROM by hockeymikey.
Will try set fingerprint later as it makes it much easier to unlock and log-in to paypal and banking apps, but hope it would still unencrypted. Also would be nice to get rid of the [system image] 5000mb and [vendor image] 1500mb partitions that just a waste of storage. My old z5c didnt have these useless things on android 7.0

Yeah, that's how I have it. I wish I we could get rid of the image partitions as well. I thought it was because of treble, but my non-treble XZ also has those as well, so I dunno.

Everything is working fine from what I know been using it for a week. I think restarting and turning off takes a while though. That's what I've seen
Ok great but the download link doesn't work.
Fixed
Great thanks it's working now..
It doesn't looks like we have the same version of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. On my European SM-P910; I already tried both of you roms and it's always a boot loop. I tried different version of the stock rom before flash (XAR) and with blank vbmeta.tar with factory reset or/and cache but it never works for me. Like the other guy for the AOSP I go back to stock.
S Pen Functionality
Hello,
I'm new so please bear with me for this question. Do S Pen functions remain after installing lineageos? I got the device yesterday and I find it to be not as snappy as I'd like.

You guyz are lucky. There's no development for Tab s6.
Can you make a microg version?
Greetings!
I successfully managed to install the lineage rom on my SM-P610. Initially i faced infinite boot-loop even after doing a factory reset in the recovery. After some experiments, i made it work. Heres what is did to get it work.
1. First, unlock and root your device. Use the method mentioned in the other xda thread. It works.
2. Keep your rooted boot.img safe.
3. Download the lineage os tar from the thread.
4. Using 7-zip, open the tar package and delete the included boot.img fiile,
5. Replace the boot.img with the rooted boot.img obtained from the first step.
6. Flash the modded lineage package with Odin 3.14.1-3b patched under AP (do not check the re-partition in ODIN).
7. After reboot, boot into recovery and do a factory reset.
8. After a couple of reboots, Lineage logo should appear
Will write what works and what doesn't in my next post.
Thanks to @Awesomeslayerg for porting Lineage OS and AOSP to Tab s6 lite. It is really good to see a snappy lineage ROM for the device. Good Work! :highfive:
Here is the list what works and what doesn't.
The ROM is comparatively faster and snappy although the Geekbench results are identical with the stock rom. The reboot time is at par with the stock and the rom is stable. No random reboots or app crashes whatsoever.
Here are the stuff that works
Spen with pressure sensitivity works. Checked with Penup and bamboo paper app.
Can use SD card as primary storage but it is quite buggy. The apps on the SD card always crashes.
Battery backup is way better compared to stock.
Widevine is L1. Netflix HD content playback works.
Dual stereo speakers works.
Double tap to wake works as well
Comes with minimal gapps
All Bluetooth accessories work.
cts profile verification in magisk is "true".
Here is what doesn't work (or might be buggy).
The mouse pointer rather than the dot on the screen. Not sure whether there is a workaround
Magnetic flip cover doesn't work
GPS doesn't seem to work.
Cannot format SD card and use it as a portable media. upon formatting, it always shows "corrupted".
Camera is basic.
Hope you will find this info helpful.

Thanks alot will add this to the list
Thanks again to @Awesomeslayerg for making this rom. Here is a couple of points from my experience.
I flashed from linux using heimdall, which may be why my experience was different than @gauthamrgramalingam.
To flash I just followed the directions and, unlocked the bootloader, went to download mode a flashed. I didn't need to do all the extra steps that @gauthamrgramalingam listed. I did have to factory reset 2 times though, once from the bootloader and once from in lineage. Here are the things I've noticed:
1. Wifi doesn't seem to be working on 5g and seems to have some disconnects, also seems like I can't connect on lower bands of 2.4g, like channel 1.
2. GPS works great for me, no issues
3. Screen brightness, this is hard to confirm, but it at least SEEMS dimmer than stock firmware. I tried adjusting with the treble settings but that didn't seem to do anything.
4. netflix doesn't play videos for me at all. in info, it does show wildvine L1 or w/e and says it'll play HD but when I play a video I just get a generic error and it never plays. I've reset and reinstalled netflix to no avail.
5. SD card is weird, if I format it as portable, I run into the same issues that have been discussed, however if I format it as "phone storage" it seems to work somewhat. Can't seem to move apps to it, but I can put other files on it. Not sure whats going on.
Anyways, thanks again, I thought i would give my feedback to see if it helps.

I forgot to ask, does this have root? because I was trying to do some debugging on the issues but I can't seem to get a root shell in adb.
Messing with it more, couple updates:
1. wifi 5g confirmed working.
2. netflix still not working at least for me.
Magnetic cover, might be due to SELINUX. I see this in the adb debug:
kworker/5:2: type=1400 audit(0.0:2321): avc: denied { open } for path="/sys/devices/virtual/sec/sec_key/hall_detect" dev="sysfs" ino=45321 scontext=u:r:kernel:s0 tcontext=ubject_r:sysfs:s0 tclass=file permissive=0
the magnetic cover might use the hall sensor, but not sure. There is another sensor that is getting AVC denied as well. Worth a look.

If it doesnt boot or bootloops thanks @gauthamrgramalingam
1. First, unlock and root your device. Use the method mentioned in the other xda thread. It works.

awesome, let me know if you need any help.
okay so ive tested a number of treble GSI's on SM-X200 but im finding that the device randomly reboots on all Android 13 GSIS, now when i say reboots im talking about youve set up, youve loaded the tablet, your just using your tablet as you normally will and the device reboots
Lineage OS 19 works perfectly fine without reboots, but as soon as i flash LOS20 GSI it reboots all the time
What makes it even more strange is when i install Android 14 Beta GSI i get no reboots, but then i have another problem where my Device cant connect to any bluetooth Devices, so the GSI itself is really stable, but i use Bluetooth Earphones, and Googles Android GSIS dont have the PHH settings menu, which fixes the problem on all other roms
Any Sugguestions on how to fix? im stumped
Hmmm maybe I'll hold off installing LOS20

i advice against installing any android 13 gsis, i have tested rooted/unrooted, Magisk Rooted, and Inbuilt superuser
Ive tried every single android 13 gsi out there, AOSP, ArrowOS, Evolution X, you name it, ive tried android 12, 12L and 13 roms, If you have any questions about other specific roms and my results feel free to ask me, but as a general rule, Android 12 works fully on lighter roms, but Android 13 is a Glitchfest

Sure...a question - have you ever been able to flash a non LOS GSI successfuly (besides PHH based ones)? I've probably tried just as many GSIs and all the rest seem to be too big

As a general rule, if the image is a very basic image without the modifications so for example AOSP 12, that is generally smaller in size it works, if you get a really heavily modified system, to pull some out of a hat Evolution X, Project Elixir they get stuck on the Samsung screen and just sit there for days, so the smaller roms android 12 work really well, but the bigger ones don't
However Android directly from the developer site works even on android 13, 14, the only drawback if there's no compatibility layers for bluetooth

Yeah I figured that all out...but larger ROMs like Evolution and Elixir based off of A12 don't work as well? Just tried the A13 based ones

Does the boot logo appear twice when it reboots?

on odd occasions its been the logo from the GSI itself, others it reboots back to Samsung, and starts the whole tablet again, either way its quite annoying

By this, I meant does the "Samsung Galaxy" text appear once, disappear, then reappear again? If so, then the tablet is going through a kernel panic/crash. One major way of knowing this is when music playing through the speakers repeats and then stops after a bit. Another way of knowing is if a chunk of text appears at the top left of the screen.

sounds familliar, and yes when it reboots to the samsung logo, theres some script in the top left, then it reboots again, if thats the case is there currently a fix?
Are you rooted? If so, check out /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops-0 and send me its contents.
If you can't do that, do you use mobile data?
Do I have to be using one of the roms thats causing the reboot in order to get the information you need, if so I'll flash one now and get you the information, yes rooted with magisk 26.1

For an idea...I'd try patching again with either Magisk 25.2 or Delta. 26 has been giving a lot of people trouble, especially with Samsung devices
Whatever caused the kernel panic was resolved by refreshing stock firmware, including repartition, and refreshing los20 its not doing it now, I'll pay close attention to what happens from here, I'm using the latest los20 gsi from June, there's 2 possibility, the less likely being the new rom had something change thats stopped the device getting irritated, but the most likely thing is that in refreshing stock firmware and flashing los20 after something got fixed that was broken, either way, working now

Non Treble gsis work, I tried a leaf os gsi that didn't support Treble, and everything worked, Google gsis have a Bluetooth issue which don't work on audio devices, everything else works perfectly, I'm pretty sure there's a magisk patch for the audio problem
