Hi, I've just received a message about contactless payments unavailable for my device. What's happening here?!
Ps. I'm on stock with last update available
It signals you that the phone does not satisfy the protection. Phone Unlocker, root. If root you can hide it with Magisk.
Hi, same happened for me with the last update. Got it solved by:
long press the "Google Pay" icon -> "App Info" -> "Clear Data" -> "Clear all data"

I'm just relaying my experiences and make no guarantees that you will see the same results that I have but I think most everyone should. First of all, for a long time now I had the SystemUpdateService$Receiver disabled in Google Services Framework and was shocked and extremely annoyed to see the update Monday morning on my N7 and then Tuesday on my N5. I've always been one to flash images as soon as they were available but I've decided to wait. Therefore...
The solution is simple. It really only requires one app but you can use two if you're extra cautious. AutoStarts which is a paid app is what I'm using. I have no idea how much it costs now because I've had it for 2-3 years. The other app is Disable Service. Using Disable Service by itself will cause a major wakelock (SystemUpdateService) which I verified with BetterBatteryStats and also with Wakelock Detector. All of the entries that need to be disabled will be in Google Play Services. In the Autostarts app menu use "Group by application," and under View make sure "Hide systems apps" is not checked. In Google Play Services the third "After Startup" entry from the top needs to be disabled and the second "Connectivity changed" entry from the top needs to be disabled. In the popup for both you will see "SystemUpdateService$Receiver" in the description. My experience so far is that only using Autostarts was sufficient as long as you did NOT go to Settings/About phone/System updates. As soon as you open the "System updates" page the system would re-enable the "Connectivity changed" entry and you will start getting the notifications. Even without going into the "System updates" page the system might at some point re-enable the entry but it never happened to me the day or two I only used Autostarts. To prevent that from happening and to save myself from curiosity when I felt compelled to look in the system updates page, I used the Disable Service app which will completely prevent the system from re-enabling the "Connectivity changed" entry. With the Disable Service app the entry that needs to be disabled is also in Google Play services and it is "SystemUpdateService." After all of the entries are disabled reboot and the notification will be gone and the "System updates" page will say that "Your system is up to date." The "Check now" button is now non-functional and the last time you booted up will be the "Last checked for update" time. I'm getting all of my notifications and the Play Store is auto updating the apps I'm letting update and I'm seeing those notifications also. From what I can see the only thing that is not working is the OTA system update.
Update: I've been using Autostarts by itself to disable two entries in Google Play Services for a few weeks with no issues, no notifications about a system update. Just looked in About phone/System updates and the OTA is still there. Re-enabled the second "Connectivity changed" entry, rebooted and notification is once again gone.

Appreciate the feedback! I thought that it would work on the N6 and N9 but couldn't test it myself. Glad it worked for you!

Not one single OTA, now I can patiently wait for the wugfreh tool kit to update to 2.0.
My autostarts says "No applications are autostarting". Any ideas?
Rooted Nexus 5 running Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4 ROM
Hi guys.
I want to buy something from the Galaxy Store, but when I try to pay it says "Can't use credit card. Rooting detected. Use another payment method." and then I click ok and it loads the payment screen where you can choose another payment method, but a popup shows over it with: "Error. No payment method available" so I can't buy anything.
Anyone experienced this? Is there a fix for this?
P.S.
I am rooted with Magisk. I tried to hide the app from Magisk, but it is not listed there so I can't select it. I also tried the "Hide magisk manager" so the package name chages, but again no luck.
Thanks!

Odin your phone back to no root oreo if you can.

i heard PayPal works fine! Try PayPal if your planning on keeping root!
paypal does. and ive managed to add cards too.
disable exposed if you have it installed.
be sure safety net is passed in magisk.
you can also use magisk hide and then hide samsung pay.
be sure ure on a recent magisk v18.2+ build. or ieally use v19.

Hi there,
I don't have exposed, safety net is passed. I've hid whatever related app shows in Magisk Hide (Galaxy Wearable, Galaxy Watch Plugin, Samsung Health, Samsung accessory service, SASystem providers), but there is no Samsung Pay.
Still as long as I get to the Payment screen the popup shows up with "No payment method available".

check your version of magisk as suggested previously. also be sure to have the show system apps enabled in the 3 dot menu in magisk hide tab as shown in attached picture.

Hi there I haven't noticed this option. I activated the system apps and hid Samsung Billing, then I was able to add my card for payments (I guess Paypal is not allowed in my region or something). I just purchased something.
Thanks a lot for the help.
I got a p30 pro as a gift in China and coming from a Pixel 2XL, this software is incredibly frustrating.
My 3 main annoyances are:
1. Google Pay doesn't seem to work. Everytime I try to setup my card, an error message says "Can't complete setup for contactless payment. To resolve this, you'll need to contact...." This is so annoying, why bother allowing the app to be installed in the first place? In Settings, you can even choose Google Pay as a default payment app.
2. Notifications do not persist on lockscreen. E.g. when using Spotify, the playback controls show up initially on lockscreen, but disappears shortly after. Once a new song starts playing, the controls show up again. Same goes for all kinds of notifications like email, messages, etc. They do show up after unlocking the phone, but even if I don't dismiss them, I can't see them on the lockscreen. I've turned on the Show on lockscreen option in all the affected apps, but no dice. I disabled face unlock and that doesn't help neither
3. Google assistant. In settings, the Access with Voice Match toggle is greyed out, so there's no way to trigger assistant unless by opening the Google or Google assistant app.
Searching these forums has been pointless, no one seems to know how to fix these issues. Now Huawei doesn't even allow unlock bootloader and root anymore....
Has anyone found any workaround?
Thanks and have an awesome weekend
I have never had any problems using Google Pay contactless payments on my rooted OP6t. I have GPay and Google play services hidden from root using Magisk Hide. However, this morning I got a notification that my phone could no longer be used for contactless payments due to being rooted or having uncertified software. The only recent update that seemed relevant was to the main Google app; the one just called "Google" in the appdrawer. For the heck of it I tried hiding that one in Magisk, Next I cleared all data for the GPay app and rebooted. I am no longer getting the message about contactless payment. I didn't even have to re-add my cards back to GPay.
Just though I'd post my experience in case anyone else ran into this. To be fair, I haven't actually made any payments since going through this process but there are no errors showing.
Anyone else getting an increase in popup adds from HMS Core app, mostly pushing you to the gallery store?
How do we stop them
I had that to. Since last update (don't know when) it stopped.
I never had that.
Try uninstalling Huawei Management Services but from Google Play Store. After that, you can reinstall it again and when the menu below appears, select disable for everything.
If this does not work, go to "data usage" for HMS core app and disable mobile, background and roaming data. Then, select NO for "Display over other apps" and "Write system settings".
