Hey everyone,
First post here, and sorry if it's been covered elsewhere. I have a S10 SM-G973U that I'm using in Canada. The mobile network connection gives me lots of grief. It will connect and send data/messages/place calls for a period when I reset the phone, but then just kind of lose it. It usually shows a strong connection (full bars and LTE), but just doesn't transmit anything. Sometimes data will work but SMS won't. It's all pretty frustrating.
I've tried inputting APN settings and flashing different firmware versions. Nothing has worked.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!
Did you try a data factory reset after flashing?
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't work
Hmm if you flash the unbranded Samsung U1 firmware, it should work with any SIM. What firmware was the phone originally on when it came out of the box?

Hello guys! I've been reading these forums for a long time, amazing what you guys do in here
Here is my problem: I live in México, and I traveled to USA for summer vacation, my mexican mobile phone carrier uses 850mhz (TELCEL) and when I went to USA it was using ATT's network.
So everything was working fine, but when I returned just before I was about to cross the border, it stoped working!
It has a message that says ''Emergency calls only'' where it's supposed to say ''TELCEL GSM'', so no internet, no calls, no messages.
I was using Froyo on my phone, and thought of doing a reset to restore factory settings on the phone, but it did not work :/
Then I updated my phone to Darky's Rom 10.2 (Gingerbread) and it's still not working!
When I go to Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile networks>Network operators I can see that my carrier is available to select, but when I try to, it gives me a ''Unable to connect. Try later'' msg.
It is really frustrating because I depend on my phone so much, mainly because I share my 3G connection to my laptop for school's work and stuff.
There's one weird thing though, I unlocked my phone, and placed a MOVISTAR(1900mhz) SIM card on it, AND IT WORKS!!!
But the thing is that I don't have internet on that SIM card(is prepaid and it's EDGE, not 3G), and on my TELCEL SIM card I have a contract to complete (still a year to go).
When I put my SIM card on someone else's phone, it works like a charm, but if I try to put a TELCEL (850mhz) SIM on my galaxy; just says ''Only emergency calls''
What do you guys think happened to my phone? I would really appreciate your help.
flash a new modem... one that contains more frequencies enabled.. any bell or telus will do.
UGKC1 modem should fix your problem.
It did not work, should I keep trying with other modems?
you can.. jk4 or jl2 are other modems with 850 and 1900 enabled... maybe your problem is different then I thought... but it sounds like your modem... maybe try unlocking your phone? if you can connect to wifi download sgs unlocker pro (paid app) in the market to unlock, your phone also needs to be rooted. are you using the i9000T? that may be different problem altogether...
edit: sorry I see you said it is unlocked... just doesn't sound like it...
a) modem related (ugkc1) should have fixed that
b) SIM carrier not compatible to phone (unlock phone to fix)
c) Busted SIM card, check in other phone
d) make sure phone option is set to Automatic CDMA/GSM
sounds like you checked everything I would check....
does your 3G work... make sure your VPN is setup to your carrier
maybe imei got blocked...? only way around that is to get provider/samsung to unblock
Hey have you solved this, I have the same problem
my solution

Hi all --
Have had i9000 with o2 (Germany) for about 2 years. Used the phone in countries all over Europe with no problem.
Recently upgraded the phone to use CM9, and everything was fine here in Germany.
Went to Norway this week, but could not connect to any mobile network. All were rejecting me. Noticed that my IMEI was showing up as 004999010640000 -- figured that might have been the problem.
When returning to Germany, I checked my IMEI number, and it was displaying the correct number.
First off, how is that possible? I thought IMEI was what it was, and displaying the number (via *#06#) had nothing to do with the network I was/wasn't connected to.
Second -- what must I do so that I can once again use the phone when traveling outside of Germany?
Rather desperate -- thanks!!!
Really sorry to bump my own post, but I truly am desperate. I just cannot understand why I can no longer connect to a foreign network when I always could from this phone. I'm leaving for a business trip tomorrow and will be screwed if my phone doesn't work.
I'm running CM9 with baseband version I9000XXJVT, if that's any help. Do I need to flash another modem?
Is there nobody out there who can offer at least some advice and/or suggestion?

This is rather odd, as IMEI does not change based on location or network, it can be blocked by Networks , meaning O2 may not have agreements with other networks for it to connect when you are roaming to some or all other networks. BUT NO Network/modem can change your IMEI, only you can corrupt it by using a custom firmware read this
So what you have mentioned makes little sense and you need to contact your sim provider, as to why you cannot connect to other networks . (could be due to a sim lock)
Agreed -- it makes no sense whatsoever. Even stranger is the fact that though I could not connect to any network, I was able to get data -- check emails, etc. Phone calls were not possible, and there was an 'X' over the signal bars in the top bar. Can't explain that either...
Prior to CM9, I had no problem connecting in Norway (I was using stock Gingerbread.) Only this time was I denied access to any and all networks.
However, at the moment I am in Denmark, and I have managed to connect to one of their networks with no problem. Let's see if it works in Finland later....

most likely a roaming problem that your network provider needs to address
Sorry for interference , but after your description seems to be the know lost of IMEI after flashing a custom ROM.
If you have a backup of efs ...its simply to restore IMEI...just search the forum, there are a lot of posts about restoring IMEI...
If not have that backup, then install again GB 2.3.6....make a save efs folder...and then install again CM9, i recomend last CM 9 Stable.
Greetings.

Hey there buddy! you from the philippines?
My SGS have problems with network signal.. my father gave it to me he's in Uganda, South Africa but when i got the phone.. I don't have any signal. maybe you can help me? I am also using SMART as my simcard..
Thanks mate!
Hello.
Having problems with my I8190N. About 2-3 days a go it suddenly lost ability to connect into internet. I can switch data connection on or off, it doesnt make any difference. I have tried to reflash various ROMs and it's all the same, no internet. I get the usual signal bars but no H/G/E marks.
It did not happen after flashing, had CM11 on it for days and I could connect Internet just fine. No carrier limitations either, I can make calls out and same SIM in my old phone can go to internet.
Should I flash the stock ROM/bootloader back and RMA it? Or is there something else I can do? (perhaps known issue and solvable on my own)
Phone is fairly new, bought it in August as brand new.
i suppose APN settings are correct?
you can try to flash another baseband to try with it, what is yours current baseband?
basebands you can find here for N version, XXAMJ ist newest and working for me...
I had the same problem a couple of days ago. It turns out that my problem was the simcard, have you tried to put another simcard in your phone and see if it works?
I have this problem, same with two phones and two SIM cards, both phones are ZTE, both problem SIM cards are on Vodafone, both phones have no problem connecting to data via t mobile sim? This leads me to believe that voda data does not work on zte phones, apn details are correct. Does anyone knowa fix?
finally sorted it........... f'd around with a few different apn's and even phoned up talktalk(same as vodafone network) who confirmed I had the right settings which I hadnt!
Found the correct settings on the geeksquad website. seems i didnt need to bother filling out some of the fields and then wham internet connection straight away!

Hi All,
Disclaimer: Newbie.
During December I updated my N920I via OTA. Since this update my phone constantly has network drop outs, no 3G or 4G. If I force 2G it will sometimes work albeit very slowly.
Steps taken:
Simcard Replacement
Factory Reset
Manual Flash (N920IDVU3BPL2) via Odin
Prior to this update the phone was working fine with build N920IDVU3BPJ3.
I downloaded the N920IDVU3BPJ3 Optus specific image from Sammobile and tried deploying it using Odin however I received the "SYSTEM REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 1 BINARY 0" error. From what I have read it means that I have a locked bootloader?
I have been advised by Samsung that I am unable to downgrade? (I assume you can if you trip Knox)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I haven't had a properly working phone since Boxing day
Thanks heaps
4g/LTE not working on N920I
Same here:
LTE was working fine on my N920I out of the box, but suddenly I observed that its only connecting 3G or 2G but not 4G. I thought that it may be custom rom issue.
I have installed Australia fimware through Samsung Kies. But it did not work.
Now I have manually installed Singapore firmware through ODIN
I have cleared internal storage and factory reset the phone
Upon forcing 4G only mode, the phone does not get signals and gets hot
I have tried inserting my sim to S7 and it quickly got connected to 4G, but 3G does not get connected to my phone
I have also contacted my carrier and they say everything is working fine
I have checked APN settings with carrier as well
I dont know what to do. Does this mean that my phone has some modem hardware issue which has broken modem due to overheat or bad code or something.

Not possible since the S7 worked! Sounds like you need a new SIM card that's all.. Or you can try changing the settings again by going to Settings>Mobile Network>Network Mode and see what it's on..

I have changed Network Mode to 2G only, 3G only, 3g/2G (auto connect), LTE/3G/2G (auto connect) modes one by one after your suggestion but phone is only working on 2G and 3G not LTE.
Earlier I was having N920IDVU2BPG3_N920IXSA2BPG3_N920IDVU2BPG3_HOME.tar firmware but now since I have installed the latest N920IDVU3BPL2_N920IXSA3BPL2_N920IDVU3BPL2_HOME.tar so now I cannot go back to N920IDVU2BPG3 anymore and I get error:
sw rev check fail device 3 binary 2 in odin.
Does this has anything to do with firmware or my Modem chip is faulty due to overheat or anything?

Hello,
same thing happened with my 9208 duos...
it happened some 3 weeks ago and only happened after my phone downloaded some updates..
carrier, sim all is good... issue is with phone software... and forcing it on lte only ends up having no signals..
Biggest prob is that it aint allowing to downgrade to another firmware with odin even...
ps. i dont think overheating of modem would restrict us to H & H+... if it was fried i guess there wont be any data at all...
if you are able to find a solution dont forget to let me know...
thanks

Hello, I''''ve a Galaxy Note5 N920I which wasn''''t bought from Saudi Arabia. My phone doesn''''t connect to 4G at all and at best even if it connects to 3G the connection is pretty much slow, even the Dial-Up calls are not stable and _quotlaggy_quot. I''''ve noticed that whenever I change the data connection to 4G network the device gets considerably hot at the power button side. All of this happened suddenly without any prompt about 3 days ago... I''''ve already tried changing the SIM card and testing it on other mobiles and the SIM worked just fine, also tried to change the APN and network settings but nothing worked. I am really concerned about the idea that the device might explode at any moment.
I have the same problem, my device N920I which I didn't buy from Saudi Arabia but I live there. Samsung S.A didn't help me out but rather than that they told me to contact with Samsung's branch in the country I bought the device from.
At the current situation, I have no choice other than waiting the device to explode maybe.
I regret that I didn't choose Apple's iPhone actually, as they would help me out without such irresponsibility.
Anyway, I am waiting for your assistance.
Any updates on this issue its getting worse day by day! Its summer here and i cant even touch my phone its becoming so hot.
Hey All,
I just got an unlocked US version could silver note 9. I am on N960U1UEU1AEL1 firmware and T-Mobile network. I seem to have an issue where the phone is dropping connection. It shows the LTE icon in the task bar but I cant connect to the internet. I have to restart the phone in order for it to connect. It seem to be tied to a wifi or something along those lines. If I connect to a wifi then walk away from it, the phone has trouble picking a tower but it shows that I am connected to LTE. I tried adding new APN settings but it defaults to the T-Mobile APN. Do I really need to flash TMB firmware, I really liked the unlocked version without all the bloat. All help is appreciated.

That Baseband or Software version doesn't sound right. AEL1 isn't a version I see that was released.. All Unlocked software versions are AR**. Double check that.

Sorry, I just made a typo, it does end with ARL1.

Have you tried resetting the network settings? That's where I would start. Could be a bug with your software. If that doesn't work try rebooting the phone into recovery mode and wiping the cache partition the reboot. If that doesn't work back up your data then factory wipe the phone.

I haven't tried resetting the phone yet. This is my first phone that is not rooted and I started using Blokada from day one. I wonder if Blokada is causing this, hmmmm.
Ok, I did some more research and it sppears to be an issue with Blokada version 3.6.
