Hi, i own my Galaxy Note 8 now about 2 years and want to switch to a custom rom.
Previously i owned an Xiaomi Mi 5S and a Galaxy Note 3, after switching to Custom Roms there, i missed some Stock Rom features(like Samsung Camera App).
So my question, can is still use the zoom/dual camera feature with a custom rom or does it only work with the stock camera app?

Flashing a stock based rom keeps all the features (once you flash TWRP, Spay will never work again as Knox will trip, there are patches for shealth and secure folder though) If you flash a AOSP rom, ie lineage OS which is android 10, you will lose stock camera and all it's features. I can't personally tell you what the camera is like on Lineage OS, but it will definitely not be better than stock.

I know this has kinda been asked before, but it got misinterpreted as Samsung Pay and it was ages ago. I was just wondering: Has anyone actually got Android Pay and a Note 7 custom rom working together? It's kinda a major feature for me, but the Note 7 roms I've tried all say its invalid. However, the Note 7 roms are so dam good and whenever I go back I miss the features from the Note 7
Pls help
Unfortunately there isn't a way to use Android Pay with ANY custom roms that are based on Note 7 (from my experience).
On a Note 5 based custom rom or stock rooted rom I am able to use Android Pay with no issues. But the only root related issues are Snapchat where I have to remove root before logging in, then re-rooting.

I generally prefer custom roms, but since getting the note 8 I still haven't really found a need to root it yet (for me at least, others might disagree of course if they use Xposed, etc.). Even on stock, some have good battery life (I get 6 hours SOT) while others seem to only get 3-4 hours for some reason. Either way, custom roms offer more customization, so my answer is to try stock for a while and if not happy then start experimenting with different roms to see what you like best. Custom is usually better for battery (due to optimizations, debloating, etc.), but again it's all quite relative...

Only you can answer this question, as every user has different needs and preferences.
Here you can check for available custom roms:
Galaxy Note 4 Android Development (Exynos)
Android development for the Exynos version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4
forum.xda-developers.com
Many users like LineageOS.
I like LineageOS with android 11, incredible but true

Hey there hello
So I've been playing around with custom roms for a 1.5 year. I think I have enough experience and now I'm starting to get interested in mods and ports
Idk much about that and I just want to start asking how do I install the Xiaomi stock camera app in my Redmi Note 10 Pro with a custom ROM installed on it.
Also if anyone can explain me what does been "ported" mean thanks

May a ROM developer can help you.
But it's really difficult to get MIUI cam working in non MIUI Roms.....

Ported/Porting/Ports means a specific software that only works on selected devices and giving it support to work for other devices.
In the case of your question, Xiaomi Cam, or MIUI Cam, is the default camera application for Xiaomi devices tunes by Xiaomi themselves and only works for Xiaomi devices, with specific features for each devices.
ANX Camera is the port of MIUI Camera that works for Custom ROM and some non-miui based OS. ANX is a Magisk Module too meaning you'll have to root your phone to install systemlessly. Link to the download:
ANXCamera by AEonAX
Download latest ANXCamera, A Miui Camera Port for Xiaomi's Devices, Install via Magisk or TWRP

I recommend you to use v204 even though it's an alpha release to get the closest camera quality similar to stock. If that doesn't work, try the stable release which are 190R or 185R.
Hello,
after two month of normal using without any experiments or flashing / rooting my Redmi Note 11 stuck in an endless bootloop similar as descriped here: Xiaomi Note 11 stuck to rebooting into recovery mode 5.0 after unlocking the screen
I was not able to do any recovery so I ended up to wipe all data and now the phone is booting normal and can be used again.
But befor I'm going to start setting up my phone again from the scratch (because Google backup did not work) I would prefer to use a custom rom without all of these ****ty MUI apps like cloud, video and pdf viewer and round about 7 billion other apps which are anoying me with endless popup messages and registration requests.
This will be my first try to install a custom rom but I already found this tutorial: [GUIDE] How To Install A Custom Rom On Redmi Note 11
First of all thanks for the work of this tutorial I think this will help me doing the first steps.
So here is the question:
Is there any working stock Android 13 custom rom for the Redmi Note 11 without any unneccessary extra stuff?
seems that crDroid could be close to what I want: [ROM][OFFICIAL][12.1-13.0] crDroidAndroid 8.x - 9.x [SPES|SPESN]
what would you suggest to me?
thanks and regards
Stefan
Hi Stefen,
Seeing as how long it has taken Xiaomi to get Android 12 to our devices via OTA, and even there it appears most have STILL not recieved A12 via ota and have had to force the update...
It's unlikely we'll see Android 13 / A13 anytime soon.... I reckon we won't see stock Android 13 for at least another year or more...
Not to say we won't get it, as our devices are supposedly supported to A13 and Miui 14.... but based on timescales, we're a long way off yet...
Cheers, Lister
ah ok, thanks for the clarification. I thought Android 13 is possible yet.
So I guess the right question is: is there a clean stock Android 12 for the phone?
Hi Stefan,
No probs, depends on you're build of current official stock rom. The easiest way to find out, is download the Miui Downloader from PlayStore.
Then head to this page, and find the appropriate rom for your current rom.
This Windows app, will also help you find what you need....
Thanks, Lister
I think the xiaomi.eu roms are debloated but it's still miui

Xiaomi.eu performs better than stock MIUI but worse than AOSP custom ROMs. Based on my experience with 13.0,5, it took almost a minute to boot whereas with Evo X 13 and PE+13, it boots half a minute
Can you use stock camera with AOSP roms?
