A better approach if you can
You won't get much joy staying on Lollipop, and Kingoroot is not my favorite approach to rooting. See if you can un-do all of that and use the Xperia Companion app to update the phone to Marshmallow. Once you have that, you can unlock the bootloader, flash TWRP in as the recovery if you want to try the LOS Pie build for it, or root it with something more credible, such as SU or Magisk. Yeah, very time consuming, but you will be much happier in the long run for the effort. Still a great little phone if you put some decent software on it. You could also go through the tedium of disabling all the apps in the stock ROM that get in your way, and the Z3C comes with a warehouse full of them, and using a different launcher - Evie is very nice for this purpose - to at least give you something you don't mind looking at. If only the stock ROM supported adopted storage, but you can't have everything .......
Good Luck

When I ran the companion app on a Win 7 machine it told me the same thing. When I ran the companion app on a Win 10 machine, it updated Android (which took an ETERNITY to download but who cares once it is done). SONY has apparently tweaked the app to not do much on anything less than Win 10.
Let me know if that helps.

If you wanted to flash the latest version of stock ROM, get http://www.flashtool.net/index.php .
Included is Xperifirm, which will allow you to choose, download, and package to FTF the latest official ROM. From there, you can use the FTF to flash your phone.
Before you do this, you may want to read up on the various rooting methods and decide which method is best for you. I say this because I started off with Android 4.4 first, installed dual recovery, and then flashed to a pre-rooted Android 5.1 (tried 6.0 and didn't like it) through recovery.
Some older, official ROMs shared by users (probably some dead links):

[Q] How root kitkat 990.43.74.en.EU

Hi.
I have available this update and I'm excited to update, but I know about a "problem" with writing apps data to SD card.
This is the reason why I must have root.
Please what is the simpler way to do that?
Thanks.

You can install this archive (in google: SuperSU Download - Chainfire) via twrp recovery. It works
Must I install TWRK? Is other simpler way?
Yes, isn't there any other way to root without unlocking bootloader and flashing TWRP/CWM?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but here are some infos:
I think there is some misinformation for beginner users here, in order to root a phone you either
A) flash a custom firmware / unlock the bootloader / flash a different kernel / ...
B) need to find a security vulnerability in android and exploit it. Now you can imagine, finding those loopholes is not that easy since google tries it best to not write errors in the code.
Here is a good read about understanding the 101: http://geeksided.com/2014/06/16/towelroot-exploit-reveals-security-nightmare-android/
Since we have an Intel CPU, any exploit will not work without modifying it to our platform!
For example, Kingroot is for MediaTek MT6582 devices.
Towelroot uses this: http://blog.nativeflow.com/the-futex-vulnerability
http://blog.nativeflow.com/escalating-futex
http://blog.nativeflow.com/pwning-the-kernel-root
On android JB there was a big master key vulnerability, which Saudik Cydia Impactor exploitet.
jcase was really nice and wrote an exploit for that on a weekend (thanks again!) but since our phones got upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.2 with secuirty patches from 4.4.4, all vulnerabilities are patched up to version 4.4.4
So what does this mean and what can you do?
Either find a vulneraribility yourself or if there is an exploit that works for devices with 4.4.4, there is a very high chance this will work for us. It just needs to get adjusted to our intel cpu. The easiest way would be to write to the person who wrote an exploit and ask them nicely to fix something up for an intel device.
Here is a list of vulneraribilities for 4.4.4: https://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/...es=on&cpe_version=cpe:/o:google:android:4.4.4
Moforoot also allows flashing firmware that is not signed by Motorola, however, we do not have any fastboot firmware of the KK version, only JB+ota to KK
Otherwise you could use moforoot to create a pre rooted firmware for a locked BL
Wow, thanks for the explanation. Now I understand it, I thought the x86 translator would translate the root program, too. ?

the ARM-x86 translator is called houdini, you can read more about it here: https://commonsware.com/blog/2013/11/21/libhoudini-what-it-means-for-developers.html or here is a good pic:

Since exploits are aiming on the core parts of the android OS / kernel / ... you basicially really need to write something for intel's x86.
I don't have my Razr I anymore (it broke and motorola replaced it with a Moto G ) I can't try things like moforoot, but if you want to give it a try, download and start this app: https://mofo.disekt.org/#usage
If that works, you only need to get your hands on a fasboot kitkat firmware (not out yet) to be able to modify it with moforoot, or maybe there is a way of creating a flashable system img file, but I'm not sure about that, maybe @Hazou knows.
Again, moforoot would allow you to add root to the system image file that you could flash with fastboot (the manual version of RSDlite) with a locked BL

Thanks for posting the link.
Once you have the ROM flashed there is 1 free Hidden Space app (Calculator) and 2 paid apps $0.99 each for Web Login and Clock ... these allow you to secretly access the hidden space. But you don't need the apps to create a personal space or a downloaded (Tor space, WeChat , on the website)
Hi
I would like to try this rom, but I would like to know if I can easily step back..
I'm currently using marshmallow, is correct to make a nandroid backup, then flash and test this 5.1.1 rom and, in case, flash my backup to restore MM?
Will this rom work with MM bootloader and radio or will it affect my daily use?

Hi Marcuzio81
Yes the ROM will work with your current radio and bootloader, just back up your current image , flash our ROM , Try it out, and restore to your original image. I also recommend you try a Hidden Space App which you can get from the play store.
Here is the link to the currently free Calculator app.

Can you provide details about the device, I assume its a Google Nexus 5 not the 5X, since the ROM only supports the older model. Can you also provide the version of the bootloader and radio.
Thanks
I confirm it's the fabulous, ever green nexus 5
My bootloader is hhz12k, I'm not able so far to check the radio but I suppose it's the latest one coming with MM AS I've flashed the google factory image...
You could flash back to factory 5.1.1 "hammerhead" and try flashing our ROM from there. I will see if I can reproduce your issue from MM.

What version of stock rom do you use?

Hello everyone, I got few questions.
As the title says, which version of stock rom do you use? Does it have any issues, are you rooted or not, green camera even with TA keys provisioned? Asking because, while I was following tutorial I couldn't pull out TA-unlocked.img, it said that file doesn't exist. I pulled entire /data/local/tmp folder and it showed 3 renoroot files and one "g+fffffffffffffff+fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff" file which is 12kb in size. I have green camera in Oreo, so Oreo is no go for me. Looking for decent stock Pie version, because latest one has touchscreen issues, it becomes unusable for 5-6 seconds and then works and stops working. Also, someone mind directing me to which TWRP should I use for PIE to install Magisk and other things, would be really nice. Any help is wellcome.
The last pie stock "2.2.8 should not have touchscreen issues, or any other firmware. If you have issues, and you still have warranty, try to send it it. Sony, in my opinion, is notorious for their touchscreen issues. I experienced touchscreen issues on z3 compact and z5 compact EOL. I suspect the same will happen with xz1 compact, unfortunately. However I am on my 3rd original screen repair/replacement , so hopefully it will last a bit longer this time.

Phone is not under warranty, so that is out of question, also don't want to lose waterproofing. This touchscreen issue happens only on Pie, currently I can find only latest pie and latest LineageOS, who aswell have that issue, while no issue occurs on stock Oreo, besides green camera.

adb pull /data/local/tmp/TA-locked.img
Have you done a full wipe when installing the latest ROM? I've updated 3 times to Pie and come back to Oreo within hours due to certain issues so you may live to regret not following the guide properly.

I did as the guide said, and I have done it all on Oreo. I have pulled TA-Locked.img and later it said to pull TA-Unlocked.img and push TA-Locked.img. I tried pulling out entire tmp folder but it had only renoroot files and weirdly named one. Then I pushed back locked img and did rest as guide says. I have attest key provisioned but not SOMC Fido and SOMC Attest. Any idea if I can still fix it?

If you still have your TA-Locked.img then yes, the unlocked one is for "(for future comparisons)".
Start from scratch with the guide and redo the restoration of the locked TA img. If it doesn't work you're doing something wrong.

You tell me.

Verizon 5G S10 will not update firmware/security patches, is it because of current FW

The Firmware I am on is G977UVRU0ASDG
I tried to update OTA and update assistant for PC and both failed saying this firmware cannot be updated. So I am really confused. Can someone confirm any further info about this firmware version? I enjoy the phone and I decided one day to check why I haven't gotten Android 10, and thus this is where I am now.
Also is it as simple as flashing the latest firmware via odin? If so, which site offers a dependable VZW firmware I can try flashing? Can I keep my files or would I have to make a backup first, flash via odin, then restore (which I hate to do because setting up a new phone takes so much time).
But most importantly I am curious to know more about this firmware version and what it is! Seems like VZW doesn't think its theirs. Thank you in advance.
Smartswitch says SDG, what is SDG? Is there a simple refresh/fix so that I can get OTA updates? Please help!

yeah, there were actually some crazy gestures that i noticed they got rid of in the FW i got it to upgrade to. LOL.
I'm having similar issues with the same firmware. Did you ever find a way to update your phone? I bought mine on ebay, supposedly NIB, but it came in generic packaging and said "demo" on a sticker on the back of the phone.

Advice in this case.
Don't root if you are in a hurry
Bootloader unlock is at least 7 days waiting
Backup before and restore after format is again a couple of hours
Brick is a couple of weeks or papermate

I don't have any data and can format at any time,
I hope to achieve ROOT as soon as possible, Maybe 7 days can also wait or over 7 days,
I was wondering if there is an exact way?
Of course, I also hope that it will not become a brick,
Why should I root?
Because I'm very disgusted with the monitoring and security software that comes with the mobile phone system, I don't need these software and management, I am use to assured of Google's management, and don't need mobile phone security App,

There is a lot of information how to unlock and root your Xiaomi device.
So I won't give you a detailed guide.
- Start with bootloader unlock
- While waiting 7 days, study how to go further and download everything you need.
- Like ADB, Twrp or Orangefox, Magisk, Custom rom and optional Gapps
...................... Studying before next actions is necessary to avoid a brick ..........................................
- After 7 days, unlock
- Flash with fastboot, recovery (Twrp or Orangefox)
- Reboot to recovery
- Follow flash and format instructions of desired Rom
- Flash Magisk for root
PS
Please don't shout anymore for root in a hurry
