I was wondering if anyone else was having a problem with their speakers on the Nexus 6 when receiving calls or messages?
Randomly my ringtones & notifications come in crackling as if the speakers are blown. It doesn't happen much but it's kinda annoying. I think the speakers are fine because playing music or watching videos at max volume sounds great.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated
I have also had this issue. I'm running stock rooted with no mods. Would like to hear If anyone else is having this issue as well. Also would this issue be addressed in the new 5.0.1 update?
I am having issues hearing the conversion tone when sending or receiving messages via WhatsApp. The notification rings but within a chat it doesn't play any sound. Is this happening to anyone else? It's driving me crazy.
Same thing here. Especially with FB Messenger.
There definitely seems to be some static or degradation on some of the notification sounds and ringtones. I noticed the same thing.
I think it has an overactive EQ/Preamp type of ordeal going on. I think there is some sort of software built in that is trying to act like a DSP to save the speakers. For Example just turn up your volume to max and keep hitting the up volume. You will probably notice the volume beep will change volume several times throughout that. it will also be noticeable when playing music.
I have also noticed some strange crackling that I never had on previous Nexus devices. I am certain it is software and hope for an update to resolved it. I also noticed that many of the things going through the speakers slowly get louder. For instance, hit the speakerphone button while in a call and it starts at like 50% volume and goes to max in about 5 seconds. Kind of a strange fade up that I haven't had before...

I also noticed the gradual increase in volume on everything including alarms. Glad it's a common issue that will hopefully be addressed in a future software update.
Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I am having an issue with the stereo speakers on my Nexus 6. Every time I listen to music, watch a you tube video or watch a movie on my nexus 6 device, I notice that when I put it on maximum volume it will get loud then suddenly drop down to between 30 to 50%. I'm not sure what is the deal with that, but I can tell you its freaking annoying. Also been having issues with the fade in as well.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Sorry, I haven't had that problem. Since updating to 5.0.1 I've noticed that my original problem hasn't been happening for calls or alarms. It still does happen with the clock app though. What version are you on?
Ever since i updated to 5.0.1

I would like to see some of the Viper4Android users chime in. I am hoping V4A fixes all these issues...
What is the probem??

anyone had this issue sorted yet. today i noticed while using speaker phone there is a static sound and low voice volume any ideas
Viper did not fix the issue
I'm thinking its hardware as I have tried stock and benzo ROM. Nothing seems to fix my low volume issue
Mine does this after flashing kernels or roms sometimes. A clean flash back to stock then reflash rom/kernal with extreme beats fixes it. I've had 3 nexus 6s and they all did this. Even when I flash stock image it don't sound quite right until I flash extreme beats 4.1. Viper has only caused problems for me.
Crackle is noticeable
I noticed the crackle sound straight out of the box simply by testing out some ringtones. This had me disappointed but even worse if I start to think I got a defective unit. It's weird because the problem does not happen very often and it's an issue that I can't demonstrate so easily, but it's there. Reading this post about people having the same problems makes me believe that there could be a update or software solution. By the way, playing music sounds great, the thing happens mostly with game sounds and ringtones.
The speaker quality has fell drastically after the official nougat update, before that the sound used to decrease after battery was down to 30% and now it's even low and stuttering at 60%. Any one else suffering from this issue?

I too noticed the volume drop immediately after I upgraded to nougat. I loved the loud speakers of my N6 but for some reason it has decreased. HTC used to do the same thing every time they would release a software upgrade. I just don't understand why speaker volume has to be altered at all.
Hey guys, I am not on Nougat yet, waiting for Pure Nexus to update to 7. But I went to the following some months ago to resolve the issue, for me at least.
Settings/Battery/Battery Optimization/ Google PLay Music (for example)
I made it "not-optimized'. This resolved my issue, also did it for Youtube and anything that uses the loudspeakers. Again I am not on Nougat but thought this may or may not help.
Dear All,
from the beginning I am facing the issue with the volume levels on my Note 9 (Exynos version). The last two volume levels decrease the volume overall so it is like the maximum volume of the phone is at 80%. Anyone faced similar issue ? Any idea how to solve this ?
I have already tried the factory reset, uninstalling 3rd party apps, used samsung music apk but issue remains..
Yes, even mine but this is not an issue but a way to avoid to break the earphones or the phones speakers because the level of the sound will be to high for them. Also that behavior doesn't make distorsions that otherwise will be present at that volume level. The same thing happens (volume goes down) when rising the cursors of the equilazor when selecting costum sound or selecting valve sound option because all these causes distorsions at high level volume. Also this thing is generally used in all Samsung phones and I remember it since galaxy s5... So, not an issue at all.
I remember the same behavior happening even in all the old stereo systems amps and even car steroes when putting on the loudness function that boosts the basses and the trebles on low and middle volumes and goes out in the same way and for the same reasons as our phones near the max volume.... so, even old stuff and even not a samsung invention.
I don't know the answer but I did notice the volume changes in Pie, I was always annoyed by the fact that notifications weren't loud enough, now they seem too loud. Might be an audio bug.

I'm not on pie, still on 8 and it's not a bug for music . For the rest, like notifications, never noticed something and so I don't know.. maybe what your experiencing is a bug.
Hi.
After updating to One UI I noticed a big difference in how loud the speakers were on oreo.
I flashed back to Oreo and noticed a big difference, but then updated back to One UI and speakers were not as loud.
I have Dolby turned on.
Any suggestions how to make them louder?

It would've been a credible cause to have Samsung act on it if you recorded the before and after update loudness. :\
I've also noticed this. Loudspeaker and call volume has been much lower since phone updated to one ui. Isn't there anyway to fix this?
When listening to music or watching a video the volume would lower and become loud again after a second or two repeatedly. I've been experiencing this issue since launch, usually fixed by a reboot. Curious if anyone else is experiencing the same.
I haven't been listening to music on this phone yet, but I know on my OP1, the volume would lower for a second whenever there was a notification and then go back to normal.
I have a really fast notification ring so sometimes it will finish its ring before the volume has a chance to lower itself.
Maybe worth revising the Dolby settings, Also the absolute volume setting in Developer options.
Been getting this on speaker and using earphones, haven't tried bluetooth yet. All the dolby atmos stuff is set to none.
