Sudden excessive data use by hotspot although hotspot not switched on. - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I hope I'm in the right place for this.
My partner uses a Nexus 6.
Last night she started getting messages from her carrier about data usage.
Going from 30% to 100% in a few hours.
I checked the data usage and the hotspot had used nearly 4gb even through she never switches it on.
I've done a quick search to see if any of the apps she downloaded from play store are potential malware or viruses or are associated with malware/viruses and nothing turned up.
She doesn't download apps from outside the playstore or go to suspect websites.
Could there be any other reason for the sudden data usage or is it definitely a case of an infected app being installed?
I haven't done for a while, 2013 to be precise, but I intend on flashing the phone with the last version of Nougat once I read up on doing it and may look at puting Lineages on it.
Thanks,
Chris

Is it normal for wifi to have constant data usage?

When wifi is turned on and the phone is otherwise idle, there is a constant but small stream of data up and down. I have NetCounter installed which monitors wifi as well as cell data. This morning, when I turned the phone on, with the wifi counter at zero, I enabled wifi and then just let it sit on the desk for 4 hours. At the end of four hours, there was a total of 3.83 MB of wifi data usage, 3.52 MB received and 320.7 KB sent. Also having wifi on when the phone is idle eats up the battery. Starting at 100%, at the end of the 4 hours the battery was down to 64%. With wifi off, after sitting idle for 4 hours it would still be above 90%.
By the way, the phone is now rooted with sre 1.3.1c and with lag fix installed, but the wifi has behaved the same from when the phone was new, and I ran it for about a month stock. I'm just curious if this is normal operation for wifi. I have read in other threads that some leave wifi on all day without much battery usage.
When I first got the phone, I thought that it might be some application running in the background that was causing the data usage, so I installed ATK and experimented with killing everything, but the data usage was constant. (I can also see the data usage on my router because the wifi light flashes continually when the phone's wifi in turned on, and is solid unflashing when the phone's wifi is turned off, assuming the laptop is not connected.) I was unable to stop the data usage by killing off applications.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Did you agree to send anonymous usage data to Google when you configured the phone?
Interesting thought. Normally I never send anyone any data, unless I'm forced to. Would the tech at the store have set this up? Where do I look to check?
Edit: if you mean "use wireless networks" in settings | location and security, it's usually on, but it doesn't make any difference to the wifi data usage if it is turned off.
Gmail does push email, so does exchange. Are either installed? Any widgets? Facebook accounts?
There are many core apps that use data, tell us more about your config and we can help pinpoint it.
I have the google and youtube widgets, the Android power control widget, and the juice defender and juice plotter widgets. The last three were installed after I started trying to find the solution to the wifi issue.
I have Gmail installed. However, Auto-sync is always unchecked, and even though I leave bacrkground data checked most of the time, if I uncheck it, even with a reboot, the wifi data still goes on.
Installed applications: AndExplorer, Any Cut, AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, Google voice, Grocery IQ, JuiceDefender, JuicePlotter, Listen, Maps, Market, My Tracks, NetCounter, OruxMaps, Quadrant Standard, Rom Manager, SL4A, Startup Auditor Free, Titanium Backup, XDA. All the root apps were installed recently.
Installed sre 1.3.1c recently, which removed samsung and at&t bolatware.
That's all I can think of for now. What else would be helpful to know about my configuration?
I don't see it on your list of installed apps but when I installed (ad supported) MailDroid, I noticed I got 4MB of data downloaded in 4 hours while the phone was sitting idle, charging (not even on WiFi. It was on my 3G!). When I Force Stop MailDroid, the data activity dropped to near zero.
Could it be some ad supported apps that run in the background? Data leaks?
I have the stock mail application, which retrieves mail from two accounts.
Grocery iQ has coupons. I use the program for inventory, so I never even look at the coupons page. Anyway, that app does not run in the background. You can't find any process associated with it unless you start the app from it's icon.
Startup Auditor has ads in it. I tried disabling it (with Startup Auditor) but that did not make any difference in the data, even after reboot. Anyway, that program was added since I've been working on this.
I don't think any of the other apps have ads in them.
One other thing I'll mention. There have been two occasions when the data stream stopped completely while wifi was still turned on, each time for a period of about 20 to 30 minutes. I could see this from the wifi activity indicator light on my router. This happened about two weeks apart. The more recent one was yesterday afternoon right after I made the OP of this thread. In both cases, I could not correlate what caused the data to stop, nor what caused it to start up again. But at least it seems to indicate that there is something causing the data to flow, and that it can be inactive while wifi is on.
are you sure its not another device that is using the wifi and not ur captivate

Yep. There's only the laptop and the phone. The laptop is on the ethernet connection, hard wired. The laptop has an on off switch for the wifi. It's off. Also, the indicator light goes solid when I turn off wifi on the phone, and starts up again when I enable wifi again.
Tonight I decided to put DG's Cognition on the phone. After I Oden3 one-clicked to stock UCJF6, I checked the wifi, and sure enough, still getting the constant data stream. When I bought the phone, I never really became aware of the problem until after I had loaded a number of apps. But here it is in the "just out of the box" state, and it already driving my router crazy.
So now I don't know what to think. Is this normal for all Captivate phones? Is this a hardware problem on this phone? Something else? Btw, the flash to cognition went smoothly, and the phone is running well, but the data stream is still there when wifi is on.
I wouldn't get all in a frenzy just because your router is blinking. Your router blinking doesn't mean your phone is downloading something. Install an app that monitors your wifi data usage. If it reports unusually high numbers then come back here.

Please read the OP and the whole thread. It isn't that long. True, while I was in the midst of flashing Cognition, I didn't take time to install NetCounter on the stock rom and take time to check the actual data flow. But the fact that there is actual data flowing when the indicator light is flashing is established.
I've uninstalled MailDroid because of the annoying ads (and because I thought it was doing unnecessary downloads at night). I woke up this morning and NetCounter shows 13MB of data downloaded for Today (from midnight to 6am). I suspect it's the 4 windows (tabs) I have opened in my Browser. Two of them were full (desktop) websites that have banner ads in them. Hmm...
Less than 1MB of data per hour is not a big deal. I'm sure it's a combination of apps that pull or sync data from the internet. Or it could just be an app you have installed that's downloading ads like RexEscape said.
Also, do you have the wifi sleep policy set to never? It should be set to never for best battery life.

What do you show for data usage when your phone is idle but wifi is turned on, meaning nothing you know of would be using data? Would you mind doing a brief test like that? Thanks

It appears to be drawing data without any apps installed. I assume that after flashing odin3 one-click to the stock rom, the phone is configured almost exactly like it would have been out of the box.

Just checked it. It is set on Never now. I'm pretty sure it has been set on never since I first started trying to optomize battery life, and discovered the wifi issue.

Thank you very much.
I hate to bring this one back from the dead but I am having the same issue. When watching network usage in SystemPanel, I am getting 0.6-0.2kbps up and down constantly. Then when I switch Wifi off, it sits on zero. That seems to indicate something directly related to the relationship between the phone and wireless routers and not a specific app or general setting. Any ideas? Thanks guys.
I also just noticed that under Wifi settings it will pop up saying "Scanning" every 2-3 seconds. It does it whether network notification is checked or not. Not sure if that is normal behavior or not.

[Q] Still chasing battery drain: Is it possible FingerPrint Unlock is part of it?

So having come from Verizon's Note 4 and averaging up to 24hrs on battery running pretty much the same setup as I do now on my T-Mobile Note 4 minus the "Root" & "Custom Rom" abilities. Otherwise, same apps, accounts, usage pattern, ect...
I am on an ongoing battle still after several complete wipes, different Roms including just running STOCK ANK4 and trying to figure out what is going on. Phone defect? Battery defect?
Anyhow, Ever since changing over to both the T-Mobile Note 4 & their service, my experience has been a rather miserable 14 to 18hrs MAX battery life and going from 4hrs screen on time to around 2 1/2 w/ T-Mobile.
Which now leads me yet to wonder something else. I believe I started using the "FingerPrint" security feature since switching to T-Mobile to unlock the device. Has anyone experienced a similar "Battery longevity" issue using said feature before I continue troubleshooting and chasing my own tail on this? Of course I will eventually test this theory anyhow, but figured I would throw it out there.
Also, Open to any suggestions.
Just some things I have already done along with the above mentioned:
- Utilized the App "Greenify" & donation full version to greenify many apps including "Google Play Services".
- Set up Profiles which I toggle via "PhoneWeaver" to turn off data when on Wi-Fi which consists of 90% of my day as I'm Wi-Fi connected both at home and work.
- Of course always turn off that option within Wi-Fi settings to untick "Always Scan".
- Went into "Google" app settings and turned off about everything I can find in there and it's now rather complex settings.
- Turned off most syncing of my 2 "Google" accounts to only one having anything other than Email Sync active such as the Calendar, Contacts, and Apps Sync. - Again, my 1 Google Account I only have set to sync Email and nothing else.
Sure I forgot some things I've tried but again, I am open to any/all suggestions. I admit, I bought my T-Mobile via Swappa. All seemed well as per their checklist of the obvious things to check regarding the phone's operation. Kind of stuck here now and wondering if my device is simply defective and/or the battery.
Also of note: Android System is always by far the largest contributor to my battery drain and exceeds even Screen-On time by around 10%. But then again, don't really know if that means anything or not since even before switching carriers and the transition from "JellyBean" to "KitKat" on my previous S4, Android System became a forever battery hog for me.
Just never had a top end device such as this in past years barely get me through a complete day: Work & Home time. I don't consider myself a heavy user. Barely even "Moderate" many days as I mainly text during my lunch break, otherwise phone is pretty much idle. And say 2 phone calls of aprox 20 min.s each during commute time. Yea, something just isn't right. :crying:
I have noticed 3 things that were hurting battery bad.
1.) Use the Google play services with the 030 extension. I get way better battery life on it 5% to 10% increase in battery life. Link below:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ices-7-0-99-1809214-030-android-apk-download/
2.) If you are not using maps or other location services turn your location off. Literally a 20%+ increase in battery from this alone.
3.) Toggle your NFC. Something in Android 4.4.4 sometimes causes your NFC to wake lock. If you turn it on then turn it off one time it normally fixes is.
I attached my battery stats below.
It with about 2 hours of screen on time.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions! I just checked and I am currently running Google Play Services V 7.0.97 (1791429-030).
A couple things I have done meanwhile since my OP which have had "some" noticeable positive effects on my battery duration, yet still no where near what you have posted are:
Within "Google Settings" app:
- Account History ( I have "turned off or rather paused" ALL the Activity/Info/History settings here - All 5)
Regarding my 2nd, basically "Junk mail" Gmail Account:
- Now have ALL "Sync" turned off within, including the syncing of email, which I now simply check manually to update.
Greenify:
- Revisited, and added a bunch more apps and pretty much "Greenified" ALL Samsung related entries/services/ect...
So far I have increased to achieving up to about 3 1/2 hrs Screen time (Gained 1 hr) & a few more hours of real time battery longevity as I can now achieve close to 20hrs before needing charge.
Still feel I have some troubleshooting to go. Oh, I actually have the NFC Service "Greenified" to. So far haven't really noticed a problem with "Deep Sleep" either according to CPU SPY pro.
Yep, Have always had the Location Service to OFF, not even using the so called "Battery saving" selection with it. Such a pity to have to cripple such things but it's a trade off I guess in achieving a full day's battery vs.s using the features with this phone for some reason more-so than past devices it seems. At least in my case. :silly:

[Q]Heavy battery drain when on WiFi

Hello everyone, there are many, many threads for our phone, so it is basically impossible to properly search and see if this question has been asked before and so here it goes.
I've tried many roms for my device (I call it Sir Hangsalot), and I have noticed that on almost every rom there is a huge issue for my device to keep itself in a deep sleep state when the WiFi is on. The ratio is approximately 70/30% awake vs. deep sleep (I am talking when the screen is off and the phone is not being used). Then I have tested with the WiFi off (mobile data still on, it is always on since I have an unlimited data plan) and the phone enters deep sleep as usual, but this time it stays in deep sleep and battery is discharging properly. From the moment I switch on the WiFi the same behaviour emerges again. This is the last night's situation. New battery (1 month old, 1700 mAh), fully charged at 1 AM, at 7 AM 54% left with the WiFi on. The night before, same conditions, WiFi off and mobile data on, at 7 AM 91% left.
So, my question is: what the hell is wrong with our WiFi which is causing this huge battery drain and is there a fix (rom, kernel, module, script, anything)?
Regards.

Sorry for late reply.
Go to Settings > Wifi > Advanced settings and uncheck the box "Network notification" ( Notify me when an open network is available) in wifi settings, also uncheck "Scanning always available" .
Use Greenify app to freeze apps ( apps frozen will stay closed until you open them again).
These should reduce battery draining.
Thanks for the reply. I always turn off those things in wifi advanced settings, and regarding greenify I am not sure that it will help since I have this issue in every rom, even in a barebone rom without installing any app or gapps. I thought that maybe google play services could be the culprit here, but even without gapps I have a severe battery drain when wifi is on. When using mobile data everything is just fine. I really cannot find an answer for this.

Stock jb bloated should also drain much battery when there is a network connection.
I don't have more ideas... But why you keep wifi on overnight? Do you have facebook app/ what'sapp / viber / etc. ? These drain battery alot, that's why you need to greenify them.
And why you use wifi since you have unlimited data plan?
To be honest, my battery drain too when i have wifi on, but not so much. In this evening, i will put my wifi on and i will let you know how much battery i have left tomorrow.
It will be interesting to see your results, thanks. I do indeed have WhatsApp installed (after setting up my device completely) but the behaviour is the same regardless, even after fresh install and no other than the core system apps (stock, cm 10, 11, 12, aosp, carbon, vanir, LS, tried them all). Regarding leaving wifi on all the time it is the matter of habit. Since I've been using an android phone from the start (from cupcake on Huawei U8220 to lollipop on a few devices) and I have never had this kind of problem. Oh, well, I will try to keep it off and turn it on only when I need faster internet speed (my data plan is unlimited but it does not have download speed as my wifi).
Cheers!

T-mob Galaxy S6 5.1.1 Updated -> Significant power draw when WiFi enabled

For some reason after the 5.1.1 update on my T-mobile Galaxy S6 it was running hot and looking at the power consumption it was draining the battery quickly. It drained about 15% of the battery in less than an hour w/ nothing running in the background, and the battery usage is displaying 1% for everything for some reason. The one on top is com.tmobile.pr.adapt.
I wasn't sure if T-mobile pulled something stupid like making one of their apps that communicates to their network, but only over their data (i.e. not over wifi - like they do with showing your account information.) So, I turned off the WiFi to let it run off of LTE for a while. It cooled down and power consumption went back to normal (for being on LTE.) I let it sit for a couple hours that way, then switched back to WiFi and within a few minutes it was heated back up and power draining fast for some reason. There's no indication of things being downloaded but it's drawing way too much power.
Note I've rebooted it 3 times w/ same type of power activity.
Any thoughts, and anyone know how to role back to 5.0?
If you took the ota or used Odin to update you can't downgrade. I told everyone first thing this morning a downgrade won't be possible. Have you done a factory reset since updating?
I did a factory reset when I updated and battery life has been good with no strange issues.

Haven't tried a factory reset yet. I figured I couldn't downgrade as that's typical. I left it overnight w/ WiFi enabled and it drained downfrom 100% to 60% within the first 2hrs and then started draining slower to about 36% over then next 10hrs.
I topped it off w/ WiFi turned on and it felt like it was running hot. Left the house to run some errands for an hour and it only dropped to 96% (WiFi turned on but not connected.)
I've just got back from that, I'm going to let it sit for an hour w/ WiFi on but will leave it sit and see what happens. Personally I don't want to do a Factory Reset but if I'm still having the issue that's where I'll go. I had a similiar issue for a while on my S4 but it went away after a couple weeks.
EDIT: Ok, almost an hour later and it's only dropped about 3% while the WiFi was enabled and connected. I guess whatever was causing that has settled down. Thankfully no Factory Reset was required.
It is because of a stupid bug on WiFi calling (the mobile antenna does not turn off and it drains the battery). If you want to use wifi, just disable wifi calling, and you should be ok
I'm having a similar experience as TAZ427. Just updated my T-Mobile GS6 edge to 5.1.1 with OTA. I immediately noticed the phone was somewhat warmer. Battery monitor reveals that com.tmobile.pr.adapt is now #1 on the list. I tried killing that process several times but keeps coming back.
I also notice that despite being connected to my home WiFi, the "4GLTE" icon comes on and off constantly (1 second on, 3 seconds off, repeat...). Before the update, 4GLTE rarely came on while on WiFi. So probably the increased battery drain and heat are due to radio usage, not necessarily extra CPU utilization.
Not sure what com.tmobile.pr.adapt is for, or if it can be disabled. Would love to hear any guidance on that. As a side note, I had TMO grant me a SIM unlock -- I'm actually on Straight Talk (AT&T MVNO). So this service is running despite my phone not actually using the T-Mobile network.
I'm going to continue observing for the next couple of days before doing a factory reset. Really hoping to avoid that...

I think I found a semifix, someone else will have to investigate because I have no idea what I actually did or if it's a longterm fix...
Go to Data Usage in Settings, find com.tmobile.pr.adapt or whatever it is, turn OFF Background Data. Go to Application Manager, find com.tmobile.pr.adapt and Force Close, Clear Data. I wasn't able to disable it but it seems the Background Data being turned off fixed it.

I am having the same issue and my phone is not usable now since the battery is awful. My s6 is temporary unlocked for a month since I am out of the states. I am afraid this is happening for unlocked s6's only. The trick of restricting background data for the "com.mobile.pr.adapt" seems to be working for now.

My S6 is not unlocked, it's a T-Mobile variant right out of the box activated on MetroPCS. If I had to venture a guess it would be that this is only happening to phones not on T-Mobile, not necessarily just unlocked. I'm assuming that com.tmobile.pr.adapt is some kind of phonehome or data reporter for T-Mobile but since we're not on T-Mobile it keeps bouncing back and getting stuck in some stupid loop.
I have the same problem with my unlocked t-mobile device (running on att). I wouldn't be so pissed if the update at least fixed the memory drain, but noooooope. Now I'm stuck with a 450mb phone that crashes and has bad battery (last two are new).
I did that small hotfix, and will check back.
Has everyone cleared the cache partition? Since the update, is the download booster automatically set to on?

The download booster is set to off after the 5.1.1 update
Happy to report that for me, this "com.tmobile.pr.adapt" issue has effectively gone away. Things started getting better after I cleared the cache and data for this process. I also restricted its background data as was suggested by others. Not sure which of those actions did the trick. Just theorizing, but another possibility is that T-Mobile was simply collecting post-update metrics from their phones for QA purposes, and that this was all just a short term annoyance. Anyone still seeing battery drain and heat higher than normal due to this process?
Anyway, "com.tmobile.pr.adapt" is no longer registering on my battery usage menu, or on CPU utilization list when I run OS Monitor. The phone is performing well overall (no worse than before the 5.1.1 update, anyway).
Excellent battery life for me. I had over 17 hours in total & 3+ hours on screen time. Only problem is i cant seem to install downloaded apps manually
Thanks

I think I found a semifix, someone else will have to investigate because I have no idea what I actually did or if it's a longterm fix...
Go to Data Usage in Settings, find com.tmobile.pr.adapt or whatever it is, turn OFF Background Data. Go to Application Manager, find com.tmobile.pr.adapt and Force Close, Clear Data. I wasn't able to disable it but it seems the Background Data being turned off fixed it.

After the 5.1.1 update this morning my S6 went from a 100% charge to 10% in about 2.5 hours which was disheartening. Tried a factory reset which didn't help. Even charging from a USB port didn't stop it from draining the battery (just drained slower)! Called TING and they had no idea. But this seems to be working for me too. Thanks!!! I'll email TING to let them know about the fix, may help with a future update?

I think it has more to do with T-Mobile pushing a fix or an update, because whatever they did to 5.1.1 on their end royally screwed anyone using their branded S6 on another carrier. I don't know the proper channels to make T-Mobile aware of this.
I have the same annoying problem on my 920T. I bought it from t-mo, unlocked it and am using it in Italy. As soon as I got the 5.1.1 update, com.tmobile.pr.adapt started killing my battery. I just enabled the "restrict background data" and will let you know how it goes...

Abnormal battery consumption in wifi

Hi, I'm noticing an abnormal battery consumption when the phone is connected in wifi (about 7-10% per hour in standby) and I can see the lower arrow of data connection always on, so some apps are constantly download data. I have tried to close several apps manually (even system app) but nothing has changed. In 4G instead all is fine. Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
I did notice this, too in the newest firmware.
Did even check if there is much traffic (can see it per app in adguard), but nothing.
Workaround for me is to disable wifi if in standby.
(Doesn't help if in usage of cause...)

What apps are showing at the top in battery usage?
Have you thought of installing BBS, there is a version that runs on non-root.
Does RCSService show up in battery usage?
Just in case it might help our op:
After 1day 12 hours (35min SOT):
Standby 11%
Mobile net in standby (sorry need to translate it) 6%
Deezer 6%
AdGuard 4%
Android OS 4%
Android-System 2 %
Bluetooth 1%
Display 1%
--> This should make 35%, but well, the phone shows 60% left, so still 5% are missing (I suppose it's just "other" apps >1%).
Phone still showing 2 days 4 hours to go.

I can see: Google Play services, RCS, Google Play Store, Android Operating System, Chrome, Wifi, Memory.
For installing BBS, for what I could read, you need to install via adb and for now I don't do it.
However, if I reboot the phone when I see this strange behavior, keeping always wifi on, then the phone returns to normal operation, and the battery consumption is normal. The problem starts when I turn on the wifi manually, with the phone already switched on.
Hi,
i have this problem too (not rooted, last firmware).
About 6% / hour if connect the xz1c to wifi.
If i simply restart the phone (with wifi on), it decreases to less than 1% / hour.
Did someone find the cause or a solution?
Thank you.
I opened discussions in Sony Mobile forums:
International
Italian
If you want, write about your issue there.
Maybe it will help to be solved.
Thank you.
Same problem here. I replied in the RCS thread, but on the latest 2 firmwares I lose about 7%/hr (idle drain) with wifi on and less than 1%/hr with wifi off. My phone also gets hot when I keep wifi on while idle. I've solved the problem by keeping wifi off except during large downloads, and I have a high enough data cap for that to be a reasonable option. Still annoying though.
Has anyone checked if there is a difference when WiFi scanning is disabled?
Good day.
I do not currently own a xz1C, but in my Galaxy S8 had the same issue, until i turned off "WiFi scanning" like user 'pseudonym58' said.
I have WIFI scanning OFF.
(the one in wifi-settings and the one in google-localization)

Hi guys,
yesterday i tried to see if Play Store in XZ1C was updated.
(play store, setting, tap on version)
It wasn't.
Tapping on version, it downloaded last version (8.9.24)
I rebooted the phone.
Battery drain on Wifi seems reduced (with my two modems) or maybe solved.
I'm monitoring the situation and i'll let you know.
Strangely it's 2 or 3 days the problem seems gone, I don't know if the reason for the change is the updating of some app or service. Play Store has been updated yesterday but the problem was already gone before. For now all is ok.
@aerofan
What version is installed now on your device?
(Btw I can press the version 100 times, it always tells me it downloading a new version )

I have 8.9.24.
This is what i did:
I tapped on version.
It said "google play will be updated" (or something similar)
I waited for a while (no notifications or messages appeared)
I came back on google play and tapped on version and it said it was updated.
I rebooted the phone.
Strange, I had an older version installed but it would not update.
I uninstalled all updates for the playstore and searched again: 8.9.24
Edit: Didn't fix the battery consume
I am experiencing the same issue. I have not checked on the google playstore version yet.
As soon as I switch wify on my battery loss is about 5-6% an hour when doing nothing. There is also no program standing out in the battery menu. When adding the consumption times there is a huge gap that cannot be explained. RCS phone shows up, but only with minor usage.
I will be back to you after checking the version of google playstore. Hopefully it does the trick.
Edit: I disabled automatic updates of google playstore and rebooted the phone. Battery consumption looks normal now. I then switched on auto update again. It still looks good.
Edit: Battery drain can temporarily be fixed with rebooting the device. Updating the playstore or disabling automatic updates did not work for me. Any other ideas?
Hi,
I have same problem with my battery life, it's quite fitfully.
I've checked that my battery can stand 3 days and 7h of screen on, but on the other hand sometimes my battery only can stand 1 days and 2'5h of screen on.
I make a very undemanding and very similar daily use of the XZ1 Compact
I have my xz1 Compact totally updated: Firmware v.47.1.A.12.119 PlayStore v.9.4.18 and disabled all of uncommon scannings (Wi-Fi,BT,Location,etc..)
My router has 2.4ghz band only enabled and WPA-PSK security, during the night I specially have good and strong Wi-Fi signal in XZ1 Compact.
So...Does anyone know what may be happening? I really appreciate your help.
Thanks.
Wifi battery drain was improved on the past few firmwares for me, but it's now back with a vengeance. This is on 47.1.A.12.235 (July patch). Absolutely massive drain during the times when wifi was on, with almost no screen use during that time. I resorted to turning wifi off.

The 5Ghz band uses a lot of juice, maybe the latest firmware pushes the phone to use that frequency by default. To test this try seperating the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz frequencies on your home router and joining the 2.4 with your phone.
This is just a hunch on my part, but I can't back it up with any proof.
