Would like to know if these features are supported for the major US carriers. That's the only thing holding me back from pre-ordering.

I know U.S. T-Mobile supported the XZ3 for VoLTE, which was the FIRST Sony unlocked phone it did that for. Your best bet to find out is prob to go check out other like 2019 or 2020 unlocked phones that people have VERIFIED to offer both on AT&T as well. But if that's an issue, then you may wanna consider T-Mobile then. I noticed on the XZ3 that in Call Settings there no longer was the option to turn VoLTE on or off, but during calls it REMAINED in 4G LTE (vs. just 4G), thereby proving VoLTE was in fact enabled.
The US Xperia 1 supported voLTE on T-Mobile, but not WiFi calling. So I'm assuming the mark II would at least do voLTE on T-Mobile. Not sure about the other carriers, but I feel like it would have to since carriers like Verizon are starting to not allowing non voLTE devices to be activated. And the mark II is supposed to work on Verizon.

How is this a solution? Switching carriers lol
I want to preorder, but really need WiFi calling. Going to wait until regular users start to receive theirs. Right now with Xfinity Mobile we are paying about $30 per month for 5 lines. The service is as good as when we were Verizon postpaid. Not willing to switch just for this phone.

Yup, got both (see attached)
I have none of those settings there.
I also don't get 4g+ don't know if that's related?
I get 4g+ if I put the missus Vodafone sim in.

I should have mentioned also that I'm actually on the "Customized UK" firmware opposed to the "O2 UK Pay Monthly firmware" but I had WiFi calling for sure prior to this
So my Xperia 1 ii arrived today, I'm finishing-up set-up. This is the US model, which I'm using with ATT. The deep dive *#*#7378423#*#* on the software info page states: "Current modem config: VoLTE-ATT "
But have yet to find any configuration for VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling. I'll try a call with one of the other lines in my family, who have ATT branded newish phones, to see if it "sounds" like an HD Voice call (there's not notification bar indicator of HD call, right?).
Update: Tried the other *#*#4636#*#* and the options under Phone Info are all grayed out (sigh)

You have to call ATT to whitelist your new IMEI for VoLTE provisioning. Then you need to make sure a new sim that supports VoLTE. This is what they told me but I'm missing the new sim, going to get one tomorrow
Thank you.,I'll give that a try. My SIM is the supposedly latest, about 2 years old, i. e. "A compatible SIM or eSIM card will display 25, 26, 27, or 28 in the ninth and tenth digits spots." Is there a newer SIM for ATT?
So had the following chat with ATT tech support:
"... Calista : To confirm, was the device purchased through AT&T?
Me : No, this is an unlocked phone, US model of Sony Xperia 1 ii
Calista : Thanks for the confirmation.
Calista : I have successfully activated VoLTE on the new device.
Calista : I have also checked and see that Wi-FIi calling can only be provisioned only on the device that are purchased through AT&T. However, AT&T will soon activate WiFi calling on the device that are not purchased through AT&T as well. You will be notified about this. "
However after power-cycling my phone and reprovisioning via Testing/Phone Information and on that page the steps of Refresh to get the SMSC number then tap Trigger Carrier Provisioning"--nothing, not VoLTE live switch. Remains gray. Still, interesting comment by tech support about upcoming Wi-Fi calling on BYOE.
Anyone know about VoLTE on Verizon yet? Just ordered my phone today and hoping that it will work.

Those tech support chats are useless! Took me 4 calls/chat to get to one knowledgeable one who said they have to file a level 3 tech support ticket and as she was doing it she said our internal memo said this cannot be done for non-AT&T branded phones so I'm sorry
Why not just use Google Voice for wifi calling? I use Google Voice for just about everything now as it's a nice alternative to giving up my number to random businesses.
Is it possible, to install the VoLTE/VoWifi carrier settings by an app (as .apk)?
My problem is that Sony didn't include these settings for Swiss carriers. So I am thinking about, how to add these settings without breaking the firmware.

VoLTE is required to continue to use AT&T after they sunset 3G and 4G (without VoLTE). Speaking of Google, they've confirmed to me that this phone (US version) works fine on their Google Fi, supporting VoLTE, which is interesting in that Google Fi is an MVNO via Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular.
So if I give ATT an IMEI for a Nokia Lumia 830 or Microsoft Lumia 640XL (both on AT&T's "good" list) to associate with my SIM in my Xperia, will my Xperia be provisioned by AT&T with VoLTE & Wi-Fi calling?

I am uncertain which information is true or false, but thought I would ask here. I realized I may be missing a few features when I bought the unlocked Note 8. However, I was under the impression that I could somehow enable things like HD voice and Video Calling.
If I am able to do this, can someone provide a link to a guide I can follow for the Note 8? I realize there are third party apps. But, I was hoping to achieve the above naively.
I'm Currently with AT&T, but prefer the ability to Hot-Spot by using an unlocked version of the Note. Hopefully someone who has enabled this can chime in.
I currently have an ATT Note 8 and I have a similar question. I want to flash the unlocked firmware so I can use it on T-Mobile. I've looked online and couldn't find an answer hope someone here can help us.
So my understanding is that AT&T only allows things like HD Voice, Video Calling, VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, etc. On their branded device's. It's why I actually didn't get the unlocked device even though I previously had a Note 7.

This was my understanding as well, but, I thought someone came up with a clever way of enabling these features. Hot spot and the ability to jump carriers were more important features than the others... which is why I went with unlocked. Am stuck in an unlimited data plan with AT&T for one more year. Unfortunately, they don't allow any kind of hotspot with unlimited plan.
Since the phone just became available and only to few people (BTW I'm still waiting), you guys have to wait , because since all those are hacks, phones have to get to right hands and then may take some time to figure things out, unless any of you have enough knowledge, then head to S8/S8+ forum and try using those solutions on your Note 8, may even work.
When I booted my Note 8 with T-mobile sim card, it applied some carrier customization and enabled VoLTE and WiFI calling but video calling is missing which I don't use much anyways.
You can usually do this via the service modes:
Dial *#0011# may work
Press the Menu key and then Back
Press Menu again then Key input and enter the value 1.
Wait a little
Press Menu and then Back
Press DEBUG SCREEN
Press WB-AMR SETTINGS
Press WB-AMR ENABLE
This use to work on previous models.
(In the UK being shafted by a long wait for my Note 8)
I thought many of the methods wouldn't work since AT&T uses whitelists on their system and it's not just the features are missing from the OS.
I tried the *#0011# and was able to get all the way to debug. That screen or option is not showing up on my unlocked note 8.

I know the S8 crowd has been flashing the carries specific CSC/CP files through a modified ODIN on top of the UNLOCKED firmware. I'm sure this will work on the note 8 as well. The modem should enable all the carrier specific bands and the CSC should enable the wifi calling and VOLTE. on a side note, check in the settings menu for the wifi calling. when I flashed the T mobile CP over the U firmware, I did not have a WIFI calling quick toggle but I did have wifi calling the in the regular settings menu. I had to toggle it on and off that way.

Are you on an old grandfathered in AT&T unlimited plan? I have a new Unlimited plan and they offer lots of goodies including a 10GB/month hotspot for each phone.
Check them out: https://www.att.com/plans/unlimited-data-plans.html
You should not be stuck in any plan now for a year or any time frame. Change when you want to change.

I had to download the app "shortcut master". Navigate to to IMS Settings, click RCS Configuration and enabled everything. I also can see the WB settings under "DM Configuration" under the IMS settings but they are relabeled as xxx_WB and instead of enabled/disabled, it is a 0 or 1. I believe the 1 is enabled. Probably need to restart as well but I am uncertain.
The outstanding question I have is do I need to change HD_VOICE under the DM configuration from a 0 to 1 as I see that there as well.

I downloaded the shorcut master. However when i try to change anything, it says SU: not found. I also saw in there about the HD voice enabled. But am not able to launch any type of editor. anyone able to get this working on the unlocked version?
I have video calling & HD Voice working on unlocked model with VZW SIM on gUDP, I almost had WiFi Calling working; but broke video calling. My phone: Samsung Unlocked variant running on AT&T
Using a dialer code I've found an app "Testing" that shows options to enable the VoLTE, Video Calling, WiFi Calling & I'm able to pick network type (GSM, UTMS, LTE, ect.) Some options work and some don't. Maybe somebody smarter than me can look into this and possibly enable 4G LTE on AT&T, as well as the other features?

have you tried calling at&t and asked about adding your imei for them to enable those on your device.

Im still waiting for my Unlocked Note 8 and wondering how to enable Volte (HD voice). i dont use wifi calling that much though.

Changing networks does change my connection from 3G to HSPAP to no connection, depending on the option. The VoLTE, Video Calling & WiFi calling are temporarily enabled but then turn back off. Likely provisioning issue but that's all i can tell.

I have and they advised there's no issue. They can't seem to figure it out but I've spent several hours and multiple calls trying to determine if it's an issue or the way things will be.
The only interesting thing they advised of that there's no device description on my account. (Typically it'll at least say Samsung Note8 got example but they see nothing) IMEI and SIM were updated upon activation.
unless something has changed recently, you have to have an ATT phone for all of these features to work. i can only get HDVoice (VoLTE) working on my Note Fan Edition and my wife's S8+, both of which are Exynos devices. I had to call ATT and (a) have them assign the IMEI of an ATT phone (S7 Edge and S7 Edge +) to each account and (b) by flashing an ATT CSC (from a Snapdragon ATT S8+) to the Note Fan Edition and the S8+. The ATT CSC's enable options for Wifi calling and video calling, but these features aren't working on either phone.

I'm hoping it's a setting issue on their end or something. I'm continuing to find a knowledgeable AT&T rep with some info. Good to know the unlocked version gets good LTE speeds. I'll get a new SIM and continue to look for a resolution. Worst case I'll flash radios as that looks like it's a developing option.
I gave up trying to jump through hoops to get WiFi calling and VoLTE and just bought the dang AT&T version when I preordered... If someone could come up with an easy way to get it all with an unlocked version...I'd be tempted to jump on it but until then, I'm stuck with the AT&T load.

That I wanted to be able to use wifi calling and it doesn't work. The went through and made sure all features were enabled.
I have spoken with multiple AT&T reps and after speaking with someone ('ha-seen' is how it sounded) who said that they were with the Level 3 team I was told that video and wifi calling are all proprietary to AT&T and that you have to have a branded phone with their build and that the unlocked version would not have access to this.

I got the same answer. I am calling and complaining to Samsung, I mean I pay to use the AT&T network and the features and the phone is capable of both volte and wifi calling there should be an easy way to fix this.
Just picked up the Note 8 U1 for use on AT&T, switching from a S8+ that was AT&T unlocked. I don't use WiFi calling, advanced messaging was cool but not having it won't hurt, I think. VOLTE is the big question, I know it's voice over LTE but how will that effect me talking and surfing the web at the same time?

So I tried digging around and haven't found any similar situations. I flashed the ATT firmware to my Unlocked Note 9. I get WiFi calling and Visual Voice Mail. However, under Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks there is no options for "Enhanced LTE services" or something like that. I also do not get e VoLTE symbol in the status bar like I've seen on others devices. Am I missing something? Should I try swapping the SIM card? Any insight would be great. Cheers!

It's been discussed a lot here. The basic ideal is that AT&T, moreso than any other carrier, likes to restrict features from devices they didn't sell. It's done by the IMEI on the line. Firmware is one part of the equation, as you've discovered, but certain things just will not work without more steps.
Essentially, here's the process: Find a real AT&T device capable of VoLTE. Swap the IMEI of that device onto your line temporarily by placing your SIM card in it. You might also have to call AT&T and have them swap the IMEI on your line while the SIM is in. Have AT&T unblock the VoLTE feature. Put the SIM back in the device you actually want to use.

T-Mobile doesn't care at all where you bought your device. And most features work on unlocked, too. Missing from U1 on TMB:
- Video calling
- Native digits
If you flash to U, you get literally everything the network can do.
I have a AT&T Note 9 and I don't have the VoLTE listed in that area
It must be on by default (hardcoded) or is listed in another area
I have an Unlocked variant which I purchased directly from Samsung.
I don't happen to see VOLTE settings in my mobile networks setting.
Is this normal? I have seen another user post a screenshot from his/her phone which shows VoLTE setting (Telcel network) which can be turned off or on,but my phone doesnt have that.
I am on Tmobile.
tmobile phones have never displayed any VoLTE icons or notifications. Its carrier dependant on if they show it or not.
Unlocked US S10s has every Tmobile feature except Multiline Digits and probably their crappy RCS service
It's also missing the Tmo Video calling.
i have t mobile and always buy samsung international phones. volte, wifi calling,
video calling, and download booster usually dont work until i change the csc to tmo. i would think the ability to do so will be coming once the phone is rooted and out for a while.

1. Normal. The icon is disabled, but the feature isn't.
2. Yes. Testing VoLTE is as simple as placing a call. Phones w/o VoLTE will drop to 3G/2G OR fail if LTE is the only signal avail.
3. VoLTE toggle is missing. I sent feedback to Samsung about this some time ago.
Would like to know if anyone has confirmed what all works, and what doesn't when using tmobile's network on the unlocked s10.
I've heard things like 4x4 MIMO , VOLTE, carrier aggregation, etc may not work.. Also supposedly slower updates... But if someone can confirm this.
Also, would flashing tmobile's firmware onto the unlocked s10 enable all network features I would get on the tmobile model???
Thanks!
I am pretty sure the only missing item is T-mobile video calling in built-in phone dialer when you use unlocked US snapdragon variant(still bootloader locked) on T-mobile. WiFi calling, VoLTE, 4x4 MIMO, CA works just fine. Yes you can flash T-mobile's firmware if you want video calling (and bloat).

Samsung has a compatibility table on their site, and it can corroborate part of VICosPhi's post. The bit about MIMO and CA (up to 5 or 7) is not written explicitly. Unofficially you will achieve these, however.
The phone also supports ALL LTE bands for T Mobile (minus 2 rare ones). 2, 4, 5, 12, LAA, 66, and 71. By flashing the TMO CP I think others restored RCS and video call, haven't really looked into it.

Yes. This is true from S8 onward.
This has beem covered before in this forum.
Radio-wise, side by side, 970U1 reception is not as robust as 970U firmware. YMMV per local radio deployment but it's pretty obvious here where I am (Alexandria VA, DC. metro). I have several 970U1 (Best Buy), but have flashed all of them with 970U because I prefer full T-mo functions and better reception. There's not that many TMo bloatware, and all can easily be disabled with PDP or AH3.

1) Did you flash full firmware(including USERDATA file)?
2) Also did you use CSC or HOME CSC?
3) Have you used regular/standard Odin or Patched 3B?
The reason for my questions is that I flashed my unlocked S10e with T-Mo firmware, but it didn't matter is I flashed userdata file and csc or home csc, there was no T-Mo bloatware. I do know that firmware did flash properly, as the phone did get built-in video calling, T-Mo RSC(advanced messaging), 4G LTE signal logo(didn't see T-Mobile Digits in the settings though)

Were you able to activate the caller ID and spam protection feature in call settings?

When I go to phone app/dialer, there is no setting for Caller ID or Spam Protection. T-Mobile's Visual Voice Mail app has a setting to enable "Enhanced Caller Information" and I did enable it in the settings. My phone does show if it is a spam call or like today, it showed a call as "verified" when someone was calling me. I did check T-Mobile branded phone in the store and settings are the same as on my phone. There were no extra options that my phone was missing. Also as you may already know T-Mobile's S10 devices don't have "Multi-Line" settings which would support Digits option in the phone's dialer app and also no VVM that is built into the dialer as well. T-Mobile/Samsung might/might not bring these features in the future update

Darn that caller id feature is only available in the u1 firmware. But at the same time the u1 firmware doesn't support hd voice.

Before flashing my unlocked S10e, there was a setting in the dialer about caller id info. Carriers possibly remove these features as they do offer their own. For example when I access my T-Mobile account settings online, there is a toggle for some spam protection. The caller ID was or is paid service. As for the HD voice, I think unlocked U1 firmware has it, but just doesn't advertise it during call as T-Mobile firmware does. For example U1 firmware shows LTE and LTE+ on the status bar, but T-Mo firmware shows 4G LTE sign, but they both get same speed and connected to the same network. I remember there was a dial code that would show as some voice codecs that handset supported, something like *#0011#, *#1234#. Haven't played with those for a while as I was using Pixel phone

Thanks for the information..
The caller ID and spam protection is the smart call feature built in the phone. It's like free caller ID. Different than the one you talking about.
Definitely not hd voice I compare side by side my s10e exynos voice quality.
Wondering if possible to flash u1 firmware but flash userdata from tmobile? Or even TMobile baseband.
Edit so I was able to flash the latest U baseband on my u1 firmware. I was actually able to change the csc too in the phone using the *#272*imei# code to xaa/xxa/tmb and it stuck. But after I rebooted once I can't replicate that and it always goes back to tmb/tmb/tmb because of my t mobile sim card.
When I was in xaa/xaa/tmb I could see the volte toggle was on. Still didn't show the HD voice icon while in call.

So my S10e at the moment is TMB/TMB/XAA. It shows HD+ icon during calls. You won't find VoLTE toggle (as on U1 XAA firmware), but VoLTE is always on in T-Mobile firmware

So on the u1 firmware you get volte toggle?
Can you change your phone to xaa/xaa/xaa with a tmobole sim card in it?

Yes, U1 firmware had the toggle, but T-MO firmware doesn't, but I do know that VoLTE is always on.
Before I put my sim card into the U1 phone, it was XAA, but when you put T-Mo sim card, the phone gets some carrier info and restarts. After that it becomes TMB/TMB/XAA even without flashing. If I wouldn't flash my phone with U firmware the Video calling, T-Mobile boot logo, HD+ voice icon and 4G LTE icon, Advanced Messaging(T-Mobile's proprietary RCS) won't be present with standard U1 firmware

Is there a way to get xaa/xaa/tmb with a TMobile sim card in it?
