I have scoured the internet for answers on why my developer options won't turn on. I'm running a note 8.

Hate to ask such an obvious question but, are you aware the developers option shows up at the bottom of the main settings page, just under "about phone"?
Failing that, if you download this app from the Play Store, it should hopefully give you access to developers options menu, seeing as you have already enabled it by clicking on the build number 7 times
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=options.developer.com.developeroptions
I know where developer options should be, it's not there.
Also the app is telling me to turn it on

Did you tap on "Build Number" more then 7 times in about phone/software info.?
Keep on tapping it you'll see a toast message at bottom of screen counting down to 0 the it will say developers options enabled. Then back out of settings and reopen settings and scroll down to bottom. Might try rebooting the phone.
Worst case scenario is to do a BACKUP and factory reset. Not necessarily needed but who knows.

Last couple of days I've seen a window popping up (and disappearing instantly) just saying "device administrator" at the top .... Spotted randomly, even when doing mundane things like change tabs in chrome ??
Bug ?
Trojan ?

with what info you left about your issue, nobody can give you an answer. in your main settings, in security, check if you have apps listed under device administrators.

seeing as device administrators is popping up, i bet one of those apps are calling it up. for each app, the setting would differ, so i cant help you there.

For info unticking the "wave unlock" app seems to have stopped the messages. Thanks again for the hints
I'm having issues trying to get my text message preview (also battery fast charge notification) to show in the notification bar.
They worked prior to the update, now they just won't show. I get the icons, but no text preview. I've made sure that under:
System Settings > (Apps) Messages > Notifications (on) > Preview message is checked on (i've even toggled it).
I've wiped cache, powered on and off....Still nothing.
I'm I going to have to bite the bullet and factory reset? I'd super really not want to but if I have to, then I have to.
Okay so did T-Mobile remove the feature then?

If you have no clue what I'm talking about, look here at the middle picture above the pop-up notification and the last picture on the right (what I'm trying to accomplish):

In these steps they spell out how to turn it on and off. However I am now missing one KEY feature...The Status Bar check box. I was able to see the previews before and I really liked it because I didn't have to open the messenger app to read the message unless I really wanted to. Now I have to just to see who sent me the message.
Samsung Galaxy S6: How to Enable or Disable Message Preview
1. Turn on the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge
2. Go to the menu of the Galaxy S6 and select on Settings
3. Browse for Applications and select on Messages
4. Select on Notifications
5. Now look for a section called Preview Message
6. You’ll find two boxes, one with “Lock Screen” and the other saying “Status Bar”
7. Uncheck the boxes that you don’t want the Preview Message to show up in anymore
Can anybody else confirm this? Those of you have not updated yet can you please verify is the Status Bar option is there or not?
*edit*
I understand that these instructions are for the S6 but its really the only thing I could find for regarding Marshmallow and Samsung.
Whew! got that one figured out. All good.
Any idea why the full screen mode suddenly stopped working? Is there some hidden setting for that what Bixby changed etc. etc. when using a ton of voice commands :victory:
I have enabled full screen mode in "settings->display->full screen" and all of my programs are allowed to use full screen, but none of them do. And if I disable eg. Chrome and then launch Chrome it asks whether I want to run it in full screen or not. I press "run in full screen" but the navigation bar still persist

I think they disable that option because it wasn't "smart " enough to detect if you were driving, a passenger or even on a train.
There are two options to enable DnD (do not disturb). None is a native option. First, like I do, install android auto and set the bluetooth device. The second one is an app named driving inspector.
Hope it helps.

It is possible to "copy" the native options from my S7 edge?
I want this function because I use it every day with no other app installed :/
PS: I searched "driving inspector" on google and play store but I can't find it.
Hi
I know mykindle is old but my autistic son uses it and he cannot handle change thus still using it.
I have no idea how this has happened at all. BUt now it seems when I reboot the device, the notifications bit has a notice saying "tap to access launcher debug settings".
When I tap this it takes me to those settings (which I have never seen before in any of the settings area) and I can quit out of it.
Why is this happening and is it a sign of a bigger problem?
Just to be clear, while I do have ADB enabled (in case I brick it and need to use kindle-unbrick in the future) nothing else is unusual. It is not rooted and I have never put a custom rom/system/launcher on it at all.
I can only guess that this change has accurred because either a game I have installed has tweaked something, or, a particular tablet-crash has pushed this into being.
So is it a problem? Can I stop it? Why has it happened?
Any thoughts would be massively appreciated please.
Thank you.
Alex
Hello. Sorry for the late reply. Anyways, I'm happy to help you. I also use a Kindle Fire HD 7 2012, so you can expect the best results. IDK the reason of the problem, it appeared in the same way as yours. But the fix is so simple, take a closer look at it:

}
Long-tap at the notification (some program appeared at the top, don't pay attention to it):
Tap "Manage Notification", as the arrow above suggests.
So, you must have the same screen, applications may differ. Tap the "Off" toggle in the right corner after the "Launcher", as arrow suggests, and go to the home screen. When you will look at notifications, a message must disappear.
If you experience any further problems, let me know. I'll try to respond in my free time.
And thank you for posting the question, without it I couldn't solve it (really).
Have a nice day!
HTH,
