thanks for the reply i tried the option in that link but no help. If i can make it clear for you so i rooted my phone and after rooting netflix is having problems playing anything. I do not get any error's like other people instead i can login and see everything but when i try to play something it just gets stuck on "loading" and never actually loads
for anyone having the same problems as me i found a fix. Go into Magisk and go to downloads and scroll to the bottom and download Liboemcrypto disabler and reboot phone
Another way is using a root explorer go to system/vendor/lib then find liboemcrypto.so and change it to .bak at the end and save. The magisk module probably does the same thing.
Don't those root privileges get lost after each power cycle?

Who all else having this problem? I've seen a few other people mention this problem as well. I'm on a stock rom, rooted. These are the steps I've taken so far to fix the issue, to no avail:
Rebooted phone
Rebooted Chromecast
Factory reset Chromecast
Fixed permissions
Uninstalled xposed
Tried the new experimental app to enable casting on other devices
Uninstalled Koushik's mirror app
Any other ideas? Also, I'm on the latest versions of Google Play store and the Chromecast app as well.

Same here dude kept on getting the error so I thought it must've been the ROM so I switched from 3 Roms and can say that that was not the issue. Can also use some help right now on the s4
I seem to be facing the exact same issue on the Nexus 5, unfortunately. I don't seem to see any workarounds for this

If you have tried all four versions of mirror enabler and it did t work, look in logcat and see if audio.r_submix loaded. If you don't see it, or see an error that it couldn't find or load that module, it is not baked into the rom. Contact rom maintainer and ask that it be added.

Hello All,
So, I have been away from Android for a bit (not my choice ), and it seems that I am unable to play movies and tv show from Google Play if I am rooted, or even using a permissive kernel. I just get the try again later, restart, blah blah error. Is this the norm nowadays? I googled/searched XDA and only found a thread about the HTC M8 where this was discussed (with no solution other than rootcloaker). I thought Google had had stopped that a while back?
Any informed input appreciated, as I like to use my own ROMs/kernels. I will logcat/dive deeper if no-one knows, and see how far that gets me...
Thanks!
Steve
I have never used Google Play for music or movies but I was wondering if you could still install apps or use gmail. Curious if its related to account. I'm sure it would be mentioned more often if it was a common problem , so very possible a setup issue!?

I am thinking along the same lines, as a search turned up basically nada, but I just wanted to rule out the obvious. Thanks!

Sure. You could always try a kernel or rom from the development section as a test and narrow it down. Wish I knew more of the inner workings, but still learning. hope you get it back on track. Its a very nice device.

Okay. Just restored this tab to stock. Google play movies worked fine. Then redid the root process and Google play movies don't work. Did some searching and apparently root breaks google play movies. Anyone?
I'm having the same issue... also couldn't get hulu to play anything. Twitch and Netflix work fine.. google play and hulu, no bueno. My Nexus 6p is rooted though and it plays hulu and google play movies just fine... so it's not necessarily root.. it's something with this tablet and root.
Suggested in the T917T Root thread: if you're running Xposed, give root cloaking a shot.

I think you're correct. I have a rooted LG G4 and play movies works fine on it. I'll see if I can get exposed and root cloak going.
Edit: no luck with root cloak.
Just an idea, no idea if it will work, but has anyone tried downloading a movie from google play movies while the device is rooted, and seeing if it plays? I'd do it myself, but my device currently isn't rooted, so could someone test that for me?

Yes. It seems to be this tablet, and perhaps Samsung generally...
I have been busy, but will root my tablet and try to figure it out.

You may be in luck. Try Chainfire's new v2.60 systemless root.
It may work as android pay also apparently works.

Do I have to be rooted already before I use the systemless root? Or will that root my device on its own? I'm a little bit confused on how to go about installing this.

System partition needs to be complete stock so no previous root.
Just install as you would any other supersu zip.
It will unpack and patch the boot.img on the fly and install systemless root.
Have a backup ready.

I was on stock firmware, installed TWRP (I did NOT use CF-autoroot before hand!) and then flashed the 2.60 beta, and it threw my device into a bootloop. Did I do something wrong?

It should work on 5.1.1. Are you sure you didn't have root before? The system needs to be clean. When supersu installed did it say systemless root?
If everything was as it should be then you need to make a bug report in the supersu thread to Chainfire.
I've tried everything on the netflix page that it links me when I try to play a video. It shows this message:
'Sorry, we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please visit the Netflix website (0013).'
My other un-rooted devices work, but my 8.0" Tab S2 won't.
Thanks in advance,

Yeah, netflix won't start for me (PD9). Had the same issue with my note 4 and fixed it by renaming the "liboemcrypto.something" in system/lib but no such file in this rom as far as I can tell.

renaming liboemcrypto.so to something else worked like a charm.
What happens when Netflix updates later? will it continue to work?
seems like Netflix is going nuts about access.... VPN and Proxy don't work anymore and now theya re checking if we have root??

Netflix updates should continue to work... at least they have for 1.5 years on my Note 4 (I do get a little nervous each time though, and try to test it before my next scheduled Titanium Backup so I can roll back if ever needed). For system or ROM updates you'll likely have to repeat the system/lib liboemcrypto.so renaming process.
Even though my devices passed safety net,i can't find the netflix app on the play store. So i tried to download the official netflix apk,but when i try to run the app it says "Your device is not supported". The weird thing is i have used netflix on the same device, even after root. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with my Mi Max 3 and Mi A1.
I downloaded an old apk from Apkmirror, that one works.
did you try doing this? can't test for myself because my phone is still in the service center

Finally I ended up to run Netflix on Havoc 2.7
Actually, it appeared that the APK version from the official Netflix website is an old one.
I donwloaded the one from APKpure and it worked immediately.

No need to patch the apk !
I feel a little dumb not having tried another version before
Anyway, thanks !
I can't install the netflix app from the google play store any more. I'm sure this worked before but after I rooted my phone the device is marked as incompatible. I unrooted it and flashed the stock rom (did not look the boot loader), but still can't install the netflix app. I can’t tell if this was really caused by rooting the phone or something else because I did not checked immediately after rooting my phone.
Is this normal? Was this even caused by rooting the phone? Can I fix the isseue with or without root?
Not sure if this is relevant but I also have issues with the google pay app since I rooted the phone. I Found some instruction to fix that but was not able to test it.

You can download the latest Netflix APK from the apkmirror website. Apparently you need to have a locked bootloader to get it listed back on playstore
I already assumed this but did not try, because this was not a issue on my old phone.
Loading it from apk mirror is fine for me. So I belive I will not check if locking the bootloder will actually fix the issue.

It works but you cant watch it in FHD or even 720p. I want to know if there's any permanent solution to this.

SO I guess I will try to lock the bootloader.
Is it easy to lock it? Will it be possible to unlock it later?

With my rom don't lose l1 certification netflix have to work at max quality, but if you are rooted you have to set netflix on magisk app and then have to clear data app of netflix see previous links
