Wi-Fi calling is no longer working on my 4XL. I have Verizon on an unlocked 4XL.
The options are completely missing. I've spent over 4 hours on the phone with Verizon tier 2 tech support and gotten nowhere. They insist that Wi-Fi calling is active on my account/line and that its an issue on my phone.
I should mention I have a dual SIM setup running both Verizon and T-Mobile, T-Mobile is an eSIM. That said BOTH worked fine until I popped my Verizon SIM into a Verizon Mi-Fi and the SIM from the Mi-FI into my 4XL.
Verizon said they could see the two units reprovisioned but as far as Wi-Fi calling on the 4XL, it's active and SHOULD work but its almost like the Verizon software is blocking it the settings from even showing. I have NO options for Wi-Fi calling under the phone settings anywhere, they are gone but I do still see them for the T-Mobile eSim.
I remember back in the day Verizon blocked Wi-Fi calling on Pixel devices that were unlocked and or not Verizon branded. There was a command-line you could run to "unhide" the settings and turn them on.
Does anyone have anything like this for the 4XL? Verizon said I may need to completely factory wipe my 4XL but I have it setup perfectly, I really do not want to do that if possible.
Thanks!
I use 2 SIMs as well. My T-Mobile account is ESIM and my Visible is physical sim. I have no issues with WiFi calling on both. I attached a screenshot, do you see the same menus as me? Also, is your Google pixel the Google store variant or a carrier?
Here is my TMobile settings.

Hi Guys, I'm wondering if someone more knowledgeable can help advise. I've spent 12 hours and cant activate my Unlocked Qualcomm Note8 on any of my service providers (SMN-950U1.)
I want to use it on Boom Mobile Red (Verizon MVNO)
I cant get the Network Operator to configure, when I select Verizon it fails on configuration. I'm not referring to APN because I do not even get calls, the Operator is listed as "Emergency Calls Only". The Sim works perfect on my Pixel XL and iPhone 7 Plus. This phone was purchased unlocked form Samsung direct with clean IMEI. I called Samsung and they have no idea, they said the phone is defective, which I believe it is not.
I had an issue activating with Sprint and still have not had Data working, though I was able to get calls. I've given up w/ Sprint and will upgrade that line with a iPhone X.
I inserted my friends Verizon Post Paid Sim from his Moto Mod phone and everything was perfect (calls, TM, LTE calling) and the phone got LTE+. Is it possible the Note8 unlocked will only work with the big 4 carriers, ST and TW? I read a similar issue people from Boost Mobile have when they insert their sims it says invalid Sim. I really have no idea what is going on - Boom doesn't have many customers and their support team has never delt with this issue, they said the phone is defective. Has anyone been able to use a Unlocked Note8 on Boom? I've tried flashing various variants of firmware, including Verizon with no success. I'm puzzled with what is going on.
So, I finally talked my wife out of her LG phone and got her an identical VZW Nexus 6. So we now have identical phones. I have unlocked the bootloaders, installed TWRP, and both are running CarbonROM weeklies.
For some reason, my phone has voice over LTE, and everything works just fine. Hers drops LTE every time she makes or receives a call. I've been searching xda and google for 3 days, checking and double checking that all settings match on the phones, flashing different radios, etc. And the setting for "Enhanced LTE Service" doesn't even show up in her settings.
If I put the preferred network to "LTE", (same as mine) she can't even make a call. It acts like it's going to dial, then drops signal completely.
Any ideas?
I would check and make sure Verizon has it provisioned to use volte
How would I go about checking to see if it is provisioned for VoLTE? It is on straight talk service now. When I contacted StraightTalk support, they told me that their service doesn't support it. And they didn't have an answer after I told them that mine does it just fine. LoL
Actually, they said maybe the phone needs an update...
Clarify the following. Are both N6es on Verizon, both on Straight Talk, or one on Verizon and the other on Straight Talk?
The last time I looked into it, Straight Talk didn't support VOLTE. Has that changed?
They are both on Straight Talk, using verizon sim cards. The tech support told me the same thing. That they didn't support VOLTE. And had no explanation when I told her that my phone was using it just fine.
It doesn't function on the AT&T side of Straight Talk and AT&T definitely has VOLTE. Thus, the fact you have it is an anomaly, and your other device not having it isn't an issue with the device or its firmware. In other words, consider yourself lucky.
Well, I'm not one to give up very easily. So, after some thinking, I may have come up with an idea.
Both phones were purchased from Swappa. My phone was listed as a Verizon phone, while the other was listed as an unlocked phone (no idea what carrier it was previously used with).
I'm thinking that adm1jtg may be correct, My phone would have been provisioned for VolTE, and the other phone may have never been on their network to get provisioned...
So, I think I will switch her to Verizon prepaid which doesn't cost much more and see if that fixes it. Maybe after a month switch back to straight talk. I will update this post afterwards, and let you guys know if that does the trick.
Maybe overthinking it a bit. After I switch her to verizon prepaid, and get her phone all set up and see that VoLTE is working, I'll pop my straight talk sim in it and let you guys know the results...
Soo... I had some time to think about it, and decided to just swap sim cards between the two phones. Turns out, it isn't her phone at all. With my straight talk sim, her phone got Enhanced 4G/Lte.
With her straight talk sim, my phone did not. Put my straight talk sim back in my phone, and Enhanced 4G/Lte came back.
Turns out that Strephon Alkhalikoi is correct.
I wonder how many BYOP sim kits I would have to go through to find another anomaly... LoL
So I tried digging around and haven't found any similar situations. I flashed the ATT firmware to my Unlocked Note 9. I get WiFi calling and Visual Voice Mail. However, under Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks there is no options for "Enhanced LTE services" or something like that. I also do not get e VoLTE symbol in the status bar like I've seen on others devices. Am I missing something? Should I try swapping the SIM card? Any insight would be great. Cheers!

It's been discussed a lot here. The basic ideal is that AT&T, moreso than any other carrier, likes to restrict features from devices they didn't sell. It's done by the IMEI on the line. Firmware is one part of the equation, as you've discovered, but certain things just will not work without more steps.
Essentially, here's the process: Find a real AT&T device capable of VoLTE. Swap the IMEI of that device onto your line temporarily by placing your SIM card in it. You might also have to call AT&T and have them swap the IMEI on your line while the SIM is in. Have AT&T unblock the VoLTE feature. Put the SIM back in the device you actually want to use.
if I buy an unlocked note 9 from best buy i should not see this problem with my T-Mobile sim card right?

T-Mobile doesn't care at all where you bought your device. And most features work on unlocked, too. Missing from U1 on TMB:
- Video calling
- Native digits
If you flash to U, you get literally everything the network can do.
I have a AT&T Note 9 and I don't have the VoLTE listed in that area
It must be on by default (hardcoded) or is listed in another area
Hi. I'm new (and old) so apologies in advance for any faux pas. I couldn't find another thread with a problem like this, so I'm posting a new question.
Here's what happened:
I have been using Ting MVNO SIMs on two Galaxy S8 phones for about 18 months. Preparing for an overseas trip, I asked T-Mo to unlock the phones so I could use foreign SIMs.
T-Mo unlocked the phones, but now I can't get wi-fi calling to work on the Ting SIM. Tried a MintMobile and FreedomPop and the same thing, no option in the tools or phone app to activate wi-fi calling although it is activated at the MVNO and the E911 addresses are correct.
T-Mo says it's impossible that unlocking did that. Well, it happened. Ting doesn't have a clue about how/why it happened or how to fix. Samsung says it's the carrier's problem not theirs.
I factory re-set hoping it would restore the lock, but that didn't do anything. I don't get a signal at my home, so wi-fi calling is necessary. My next step is to buy new phones.
Ideas? Thanks!
I have an unlocked pixel 4 XL that was purchased directly from Google. I would like to have Wi-Fi calling on AT&T but was told they only enabled it on AT&T branded phones. Would flashing my pixel 4 XL with an AT&T build carrier lock my device?
I also have a pixel 3 XL and have the same question.
Thanks in advance anyone who can answer.
@bmurf
What they told you is not true. I have always had WiFi calling working on ATT using Google Store phones forever. If you are currently using AT&T as your carrier, you use the "Global" image or AT&T only if one is available, and NO it definitely will not carrier lock your phone. If you are on the November 12.0.0 (SP1A.211105.002, Nov 2021) it will work if your SIM is provisioned for it. If you cannot get Wifi calling working, check phone settings to see if your SIM is provisioned for it. In the dialer type *#*#4636#*#* under phone settings check that the toggle for WI-Fi calling is on. If it is on, that means your SIM is provisioned for it and it will work. If it is off and you cannot toggle it on, your SIM has to be provisioned for it by AT&T. . My family has 4 Pixels and they all have Wi-Fi calling working for years. Starting back with the Nexus phones, but PIxel 2,3,4 all work. You can go to AT&T and request they provision your SIM for free. Don't leave the store until both your phones are working. If you have a really old SIM it may need to be replaced (free also). Disclaimer: I have had a post-paid account for a long time. If you are on a pre-paid plan or AT&T MVNO, your results may be different.
