My Xperia should be arriving next week. Are there any apps I could use to copy over my existing Android home screen, app folders and layout?
Currently using a Mate 20 Pro and when I used Huawei's Phone Clone to copy over to a P40 Pro (which I subsequently returned) it copied over everything as it was so I didn't have to organise everything again but not sure if that was because it was Huawei to Huawei...
No you cannot.
This comment won't be of use to your current situation, but perhaps consider using Nova launcher as at least that way you can make home screen backups that can be restored no matter what device

Hello Experts...going to upgrade my current Galaxy Nexus to a Nexus 6. Is there an easy way to get all my apps from my current phone onto my new one? I have some that are side loaded and just want to be able to port over what I have to the new phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Try Helium from Play. It backups apps and data.

when setting up the n6, itll give you an option to port over your apps from your previous phone. problem is, those side loaded apps wont appear. but you cam jyst send yourself those apps or use an app like titanium backup to back them up/restore them.
TitaniumBackup works great. I have used it for years to port apps & app data from phone to phone to phone. Try it & you won't regret it.
Titanium backup is my go to, only thing is you need to be rooted..
TiBU
but DO NOT restore system files,
what I did getting my N5 data ready to port to new device (2 days ago) backup everything TiBU will backup, copy all files to new device (or the temp N7 device in my case) and restore only regular play store apps, and its safe (only if the relatively the same base OS version) "accounts."
the best order is restore "app only" things that you are unable to get from the play store, the selectively restore the data to those apps you know would be a pain in the ass to set up (email clients, security DVR clients, Tapatalk...) but if its a red system file, avoid it, even for files like gmail.
the biggest problem TiBU causes people is flashing a new ROM then restoring everything they backed up, at that point you just unflashed the rom and run the risk of pushing bad incompatible core files on the new build...
in short (as I'll explain in my case) my N5 files have been copied to my N7 and restored what I stated above, while I wait for my N6 to be sent to be some day soon hopefully, where I will repeat the same process... all devices are on LP5.1.x and have had no issues... by importing the green accounts data, I'm not needing to re enter the 7 email accounts I want gmail to sync.

I've never had the need to restore from an app, not flaming them, just not my preference. I let the OS do it and for sideloaded apps, I typically have kept a copy on my PC, so I just batch re-upload to the phone using wifi file explorer pro, and install what I want.
In fact, to be it's great because when doing a major change I can take an audit of what I really have used, and not to decide what to load, etc. (and you can choose as well when porting over, etc.)
Backups are made with Titanium Backup, with external Data.
So is it possible to restore to the P9 even there is a big android version difference and possibly a different directory layout and i think P9 must be also rooted ?
these games, i want to migrate, having a lot of levels and i spent a lot of time and dont want to play these level again to continue at the point i am in the moment.
Yes, I don't see why not. I did the same coming from a xperia z3 and everything works great. App data is separate from the OS, and titanium is intelligent enough to know where to put your files. Both devices need to be rooted.
BTW apps that support android game center thing will remember your progress through your Google account.
So I just treated myself to a new tablet (SM-T819N), and went through the usually "after buying an android device" stuff...
I add a 128MB card, and mark the partition on it as private to use it as actually usable storage instead of just filling it with pictures, and thyat works just fine.
then, root+TWRP following the instructions here on the forum, supersu, titanium backup pro, sd maid pro, greenify pro, switching to google launcher insteand of touchwiz... and all is well.
until I notice two odd things:
1. plume pro does not offer me a widget anymore (it does on all my other devices)
2. I set a live background of screen and lockscreen, but after a reboot the device is back to the default background...
Any ideas? Could 2. be related to something like the live background app is physically located on the added storage and therefor not available early enough during boot? That being said I remember some other apps also loosing their widget parts when moved to SD....
Any another question: I have package disabler pro, and an uninstaller that can uninstall even system apps, couldn't I completely strip touchwiz and that samsung smartmanager off the tablet?
Or would that break things and I should better just disable them?
Cheers

I prefer to freeze bloatware with Titanium. If there are no bad consequences, I can the go back and remove the apps if I really need the space. To be honest, I have yet to be that tight for space on any of my devices, so the stuff just stays frozen ("out of sight, out of mind").
Before I do it, I want to make sure everything I have is backed up (contacts, apps, settings, gallery, etc...)
However, huawei cloud, for example, is not available in my region.
I also had trouble connecting to the huawei suite app on my computer (win10).
Please let me know what to do and what to pay attention to.
Thanks
PS
This is my first time backing up/restoring an android. I was a winphone user before, and there I had zero issues with restoring...
Did you try backing up everything via Google drive first? That's what I did with my Mate 10 pro last month before I did a factory reset
This is what google drive shows on its backup for me:
Apps 37 apps
Call history
Device settings
Sms
Last time backed up this morning.
Am I good to go?

Be carefull with win10 as the drivers have signature verification issues with mate 10. It's much better if you use a win7 or win8 computer.
Check mate 9/9 pro forums for the right drivers. Maybe you can put them on your win10 computer and it might work but I doubt it.
Make sure your on the right drivers first before doing anything. Backing up might be ok but don't flash anything until your drivers are correct.

Why not just use the Huawei Backup app ? Its the most compatible app and lets you save on sd card, computer, etc.
Well, I did it and it went pretty well. Here are things I noticed that didnt restore:
1. Private/hidden photo albums (lost those), and I had to manually backup and copy photos back to the device.
2. Some apps' notifications just didn't want to work after the restore process, so I had to reinstall those apps in order to get notifications to work. Among them fb messenger is the most known.
3. Some of the phone settings I set custom, such as ringtones, but nothing of importance.
Oh, and I used the huawei's hisuite.
I have changed several Huawei phones: P20 Pro, Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro. Now I want Mate 30 Pro.
Two weeks go I sell P30 Pro to my friend. And I do backup by Hisuite, all my pictures and videos. And the problem is all the photos and videos are encrypted so I can't open it, I can't see nothing. I took my old phone P30 Pro and try to do restore but I didn't succeed. Sometimes you just see like moving pictures in the phone gallery application, but just black pictures and pictures just go away after finishing restore.
That phone I had - P30 Pro have a lot pictures of my daughter and my mother who passed away 1 month ago. All that photos means a lot to me.
It would be great if someone could help me, to open all that pictures and videos or just decrypt it please everyone who have any chance to help me I will be very very very grateful.
P.S. I see now that I have the same problems with backup with my old mate 20 pro but the backup on P20 Pro is okay.
And one more time please help me to restore these pictures full of good memories of my mother.
Thx a lot.

Now it's too late but why did you backup your photos by HiSuite - HiSuite or even better Backup app are good for backing up apps and settings, but photos you simply 'back up' by copying DCIM folder (its Camera subfolder) by MTP to PC (when you connect the phone to PC by USB cable, you have to allow MTP on the phone and on the PC you will see as a shared folder). Then you will have jpeg files, you can open by any program, copy anywhere, you won't depend on Huawei

But backup should work for everything.
Restore only pictures
When you try to restore from back up, customize the restore and restore only pictures. Good luck
When you retrieve the backup of the recovery, the phone stops on the device's logo.
Please reply
I have compiled a quick guide (based on various contributors) on how to decrypt the HiSuite encrypted folders in this thread:
